    Nice design. Not super-luxurious, but I've had a Fiat 10 years, and it's been the most reliable car I've ever owned. I'd definitely go for the hatch.

    The Fiat Tipo costs like a VW Polo, but it has a lot more space and 30HP more with entry level motor (95 vs 65).
    I think that it's a very good deal, sure much better than a Polo.
    I'm very happy with it.

    For the price you pay this car, I think it's a good value for money. It's obvious not the perfect hatchback, but it's spacious and not ugly in my opinion.

    • @ILIJA26101993
      @ILIJA26101993 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not good value. For what it is, it should cost 7-11 000 euros, not anywhere close to 15000.

    • @Markk99
      @Markk99 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      ILIJA1993 that’s your opinion, and I think it’s not true.. what car of the same segment would you buy with only 14000 euros in your pocket??

    • @ILIJA26101993
      @ILIJA26101993 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Markk M Well mid specs (witch is very close to fiat's top spec) Seat Leon, 1.2 turbo, is just 15000€. Also top spec Tipo is same price as toyota corolla with 130hp petrol engine. Considering massive depreciation and poor reliability of fiat, as well as the car being just "meh", it's not a good value and it's not a supprise no one is buying them.

    • @Markk99
      @Markk99 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Seat Leon and Toyota Corolla prices start at 20000 euros. Considering that this is 25% of the price of the car, as well as if you buy this car you are not a millionaire (and you will not sell the car for 10 years...) , it's a good deal buying this Fiat.

    • @ILIJA26101993
      @ILIJA26101993 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Markk M Not where I live. Tipo goes up to 16000€, mid spec Leon is 15000, and mid spec corolla is 16000€. Leon 2.0tdi FR is 22000€.

    12:18 progressive trance! Yes, we spotted the failed indicator tap at 18:25! Shame the slow speed ride is no good. No, at 21:06, don't know what happened there! Agree, don't like characteristics of the ACC if it doesn't 'stop'. "A real trick is to build affordable cars and still make them good, that is the thing! The key for a really great manufacturer." Great commentary - as always Thomas. Many thanks.

    Great review! have just bought petrol 1.4 120hp T-Jet manual transmission engine - tried 1.4 95hp with no Turbo and when I see how moderate the no turbo diesel engine accelerates in this video I can definitely recommend the 120 hp T-Jet petrol engine. It runs very well plus it is not as near as loud inside as the diesel engine. You can not find anything better for this money atm on the market (especially if you can get a good summer deal with heaps of equipment for around 15k). All the inside-plastic haters have their right to feel that way if they choose to but for me that has zero importance. Cheers

    I bought the TIPO limousine version last month - as a Lithuanian day approval here in Germany. 11.000 € smooth. What a bargain, - and I really like the exterior design and comfort of the limousine. For that kind of money, I can easily ignore all the interior hard plastics with a smile in the face. - Thanks for your fair review, Thomas!

    I have 9 year old Fiat Croma -> i pretty happy with it in terms of reliability. I made 100k+ (bought it when it had 150k now i t has more then 250k) and only AC condenser fail. Apart from that only normal thins that you need to change on every car.
    I thinking about changing it for tipo SW this or next year - but for 1.6 diesel with TCT transmission.

    I would go for the sw version,and i think that a good and equilibrated engine option for the tipo sw could be the 1.4 tjet,and there is another option equipped with lpg.
    I think that this is a honest car,and you get what you pay for,and looks nice,modern and practical enough as an economical family car.
    As always a very good review Thomas,it would be great if you do a review of a ford tourneo courier,nissan nv200 evalia and similar family cars,with an industrial base but very well equipped and very practical anyway...

    Fiat seem to be totally invisible in the UK now. I may be wrong, but I don’t feel like there’s any excitement remaining for the brand.

    Are there better cars, yes.Are there better cars for this kind of money, no. I bought in the same month a new VW Golf Variant and a new Fiat Tipo SW. The VW Golf is better then the.Fiat but costs more then 5.000 euro extra. Until now i only have 1 negative for the Tipo, the 95 pk engine misses power and is a bit light for the body but for the rest nothing but possitive for this car. I bought a full option Tipo SW (estate) for 12.995 euro, that's a steal. This is my first Fiat and i'm not dissapointed..

    First of all this is a good video, thank you... Then FIAT reflects the beauty of Italian design it is being built in Turkey tho...Yes it's true what you say in the video..."A lot of manufacturers can build great cars and sell it for 100K Euros, the real trick is to build affordable cars and still make them good" this is a key sentence :)
    I always like Italian cars and find them beautiful no matter where they built and I believe that Italian cars will keep some of their beautiful features just for themselves and not be sharing these with other nations' cars...
    Lastly, this car's engine E-Torq is an engine that was used by Mini Cooper before, just a reminder :)

    Good review Mr. Thomas! When can we see 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia (Veloce) Turbo petrol with your review? :)
    Edit:
    I need address some issues that am i seeing in the comments down below.
    Why do people have need to diss Italian manufacturers for build quality? I can understand if you dont like specific plastics in interior, but the fact that they are braking down all the time? More than the German cars?
    Does that people have experience with specific model and then based on that they are talking the truth? Or just blindly looking in the stats on the internet, or somebody that have friend that have another friend who had some Italian car that had some problems?
    Please Thomas if you are reading this, adress this issue to your viewers?
    Inaccurate claims for some car manufacturers (in this public profiles) is just going to end them. And the world will be sad if Italian cars are dead.

    • @aleudinese
      @aleudinese 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of the negativity is due to hearsay and a fair bit of negative marketing by other manufacturers. Why do you think trolls seemingly 'waste their time' badmouthing Italian cars? I don't like certain makers so I don't bother wasting my time to watching videos about their cars. Simple. You really have to ask them what their motivation is.
      Are they really that bored or are there ulterior motives? A bit of both I'd say. And yes, autogefuhl seems completely neutral. Good work not getting involved in some of this trolling.

    I really like this car, it appears to me that it provides simple and affordable motoring, with quite a bit of style and substance. It looks robust enough. What I can't understand is the UK choice of uconnect systems, the UK design is completely different than other European versions and almost looks like an afterthought, it ruins the interior, why is it different? Surely standard dashboard mouldings and infotainment systems would have reduced development costs? I do like the Tipo though, it's nice to have something a bit different especially here in the UK where everyone drives german cars and kid themselves that they are superior somehow.

    Thanks Thomas,test is good as always..
    Hi from Turkey..Hatc and ST version is more quality than sedan version,because they are produced for Europe,sedan is also for middle east and India.I tested manuel 1.6 diesel hatch version last year.It smells cheap china plastic that makes me headache after test.I have Fiat punto and Punto owners also 500L,500X have City steering whell problems since 2006.Fiat sometimes fixes them free sometimes charginig to much money.Recently Fiat began to fix it too much money,so I dont want to buy Fiat again for these chronicle problems (deformation on passanger airbag area etc. ).In Europe ,price may be cheap but here,in Turkey,price is nealy same witn 308Allure 😂.If you were me,would you buy Egea/Tipo?

    I owned the facelifted version of the Tipo, great car till its fuse box decided to let in water causing a short in the electrics which resulted in the car setting itself on fire! So, would i have another? Wasnt to impressed by this version but i like the design and colour combo of this one, needs the bigger info screen, an Abarth version would be a scream and id definately have one of those if it happened!

    The car is actually quite stylish on the exterior, but that's pretty much all it has going for itself. The rest seems cheap and like something from 10 years ago.

    • @fundiver198
      @fundiver198 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is but the price is also like something from 10 years ago. And in lower income markets, which this car is mainly made for, that matters. Personally I dont really mind a car, which is like from 10 years ago, because what was wrong with cars back then. So I kind of think, that if you want to spend more money and be more modern, then get something REALLY new and different like a plug-in hybrid or fully electric car.

    It's a tipping point where car designers are running out of ideas and everyone's products look like each other's.
    Witness the new Focus as an example.
    Old dumpy cars turned into sleek wedge shape ones and now are back to dumpy again for the sake of interior space.
    People miss the point of this car big time, criticising it for essentially not being a faux luxury pose mobile from Germany.
    If it had a soft touch interior (which it does by the way, on the dash) I feel they would be stumped for something to say negatively as it's just a standard family hatch at a supermini price. Tech on-board seems as good as most. So it doesn't have lane departure but neither do most cars and if you can't keep your car in lane or practice spacial awareness, well, perhaps you shouldn't be on the road. These driver aids don't take the job from you.

  • @desroin
    @desroin 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hm this is the type of car you can't love and can't hate. IMHO it is one of the many compact hatch cars that you can consider for a small family or if you're looking for a more economic car for your day to day life.
    Definitely not bad but since I'm biased against FIAT after making horrible experiences with them I just can't buy one ^^'

    The problem, my Deutsche brother, is that FCA has so many problems with it's quality. After all, it is not made in Germany/Austria. If it is made in America or elsewhere, you be certain the quality will be suspect. I love this country, however, we have not made good cars since the 1970's !
    Thank you all the same, it is always good to see you on here.

      One could just as easily argue about the engineering complexity and reliability of modern German vehicles.
      To note: European-made vehicles in particular will be more costly for owners abroad to maintain outside of its continent origin, while Japanese (and some Korean) cars tend to offer the most balanced quality overall worldwide; yes a generalization, albeit a solidified one nonetheless.

    It uses bits from the Fiat parts bin, even the bank of switches to the left of the steering wheel come from the Grande Punto. Has all the usual Fiat traits such as brittle low speed ride and hard seats. If you live in the UK, you have to put up with appalling Fiat dealers. Basically this car has nothing new to offer and you'd be better off buying a nearly new Skoda, Kia or even Alfa Giulietta for similar money.

    I just think in that copycat Audi grey does not make the car modern enough. Fiat needs a new design direction, the Koreans and dare I say Chinese cars have overtaken them miles ahead in nearly about everything.
    What I'm seeing here is a car that seems to have come from the late 90's., even the cabin is from that era have to say.

    • @whatevernevermind5960
      @whatevernevermind5960 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      james Crowther you spend the most time inside of the car so having nice materials is pretty important and ads to the comfort and aroma of the cabin. Plus RR is a luxury brand while VW isn’t so of course the plastics in VWs aren’t gonna be as nice.

    • @whatevernevermind5960
      @whatevernevermind5960 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      james Crowther I’ve happened to drive a the dodge version of this car which is exactly the same & even for a CHEAP car the interior materials are flimsy and low rent. Even cars that cost the same such as the Polo, Yaris, Clio, Fiesta & Sandero and so on, feel more well screwed together. Plus it’s a Fiat which means reliability’s below average and you’d just be better off with something like a mid range Fiesta in my opinion.

      except they score the worst in crash tests, even 0 stars with the Fiat Punto, 0 stars, i would never transport a baby in a Fiat Punto. The design interior in all pandas are plastic on top of plastic on top of plastic, there are so much road noise while driving, the engines are bizzare thirsty for so little power, used Fiat Punto for 1 week in Portugal with 54Ps, it used on average 0.8liters per 100, That is the same as a 300ps Golf R. the sound system in Fiat is shit, the infotaiment is shit, no seat cooling, hardly any usable safety features. Fiat is a shit brand that deserve no future.

He defeted the rebels (paid and sent by english speaking country/ies) and he truned his politics away from USA. I don't see any terrorism in that. It's quite the oposite actually since USA created the ISIS.
