    I've owned my Tipo for two years and can absolutely tell you this guy is over egging the bad points for the sake of humour. I still get 40mpg from my 1.4 petrol even though I thrash it around. The handling is fine, not a focus but no way near as bad as this guy makes out as funny as it was. The space inside this car is just ridiculous for the price, perfect for large families on a budget.

    Brilliant car! I can not understand the hate for price it's a complete steal! You can not beat a brand new car!

      It's great value but is a typical fiat so expect poor reliability and dull driving. But if you need a larger hatchback it's pretty good

    well, interesting as ever, but the steering keen to self-centre is not so bad thing, it is easily controlable, it is more irritating when it deosn't wanna self-centre so the driver needs to make additional inputs....

    This is not supposed to be a fun car but more a practical car on a budget. I would say the little 500 is a fun car especially the Abarth.

    Hmmm I'm struggling with this. I've had a lot of experience driving FIATs, probably more than most and it would be far easier to list the ones that I haven't driven since 1978. So when I think FIAT have done a poor a job (and they do sometimes) I can tell. So currently I have a Coupe, a Punto and two (yes 2) Tipos, a Saloon and an Estate. Now that sounds a lot, but the Coupe needs some parts and I can't bear to get rid of it. The Punto is driven by daughter no. 1 (and was the wife's), the wife drives the Saloon and I have the Estate. Previously I had a Doblo as we needed the carrying capacity, and whilst it was Ok and never let me down, it just had the feeling that it was a van that FIAT chucked some seats in. My Multipla was far better, but just didn't have the carrying capacity. Personally I'd have extended the wheelbase and added rear sliding doors to the Multipla, a little bit of an upgrade in terms of trim and engine and you'd have one hell of a car, so they scrapped it!!!
    Anyway a friend offered to buy the Doblo (and loves it) and I was looking for another car. So previously we decided that the Punto was at bit tired (I never liked it, balance all wrong, laggy engine and rubbish gear shift but maybe that just needed a fix) and got a Tipo Saloon. Now what a difference. The engine's responsive and quiet (it's a diesel), the driving position comfortable (I'm 6'2") and I can even sit behind the driver seat (at my setting), which I couldn't with the Doblo. The car is easy to drive and I can feel the road through the seat. It responds well to cornering and has plenty of torque through the gears.
    If I had my way, I'd have a 6th gear where the revs drop right off and FIAT don't seem to do this, as cruising in 6th is at 2000 rpm, whereas a Dacia I rented was down to 1500. It saves fuel. The ride is a tad harsh especially if you hit speed bumps too quickly, but that probably explains the excellent feel of the road. I'd rather be able to feel what my 4 wheels are doing than have a soft suspension. The screen is a bit poxy and should be at least 7". It doesn't really make a difference but it just feels like they've skimped. Who needs arm rests in the front??? Also, and my biggest bug bear for modern cars, put some USB ports in the back!!!!!
    So impressed with the wife's car, I bought the Estate. There is no difference in drive or feel and I'm really impressed with it. So, could I have made it better? Yes. Do I regret buying it/them? Absolutely not. I don't get chance to drive other marques so I cannot compare, but of all the FIATs I have driven it is one of the best, the Coupe just pips it for the drive. As for the facia, I didn't notice anything, I don't really care unless it's a shocking design, and it isn't.

      I've just bought my 1st tipo. A mirror. So far it's done 650 miles in a week. Gripes are that stupid front armrest. Slightly underpowered. It's only a 95. Front seats are a bit hard but comfortable. Wind noise at 70mph. Headlight flash is on the indicator stork. Which if used to quick flashes when you indicate. That annoys the person in front more than me. And 1st gear is to short. But thats just my opinion. This is my 10th fiat on the trot. I wouldn't buy anything else.

    2019. Tipo with Street trim costs 11.000 Euros here. It is the best values in my opinion. C semet car for even less that what most of others are asking for a B-segment cars!

    I love my TIPO, it's quick, roomy, economical and looks good. That boring interior bull... who wants shiny stuff on a dashboard to reflect sun into your eyes anyway? It's very comfortable and eats up miles easily with cruise control as standard. No idea what car you were driving in this video!

      Not the self-centering itself - that is a good (and standard) thing - but the strength of it. It feels like the force feedback mechanism in an arcade machine from the '90s. Sega Rally or something. Very artificial. M.

    @jspope2008 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The problem with reviews is that at the end of the day it’s just one persons opinion. You see other tests have said the suspension is set up for comfort. The car rides well they say. Yet you say the ride is a bit firm! Mmmmmmmm.

    Also, ot seems to be quite expensive in Britain compared to Italy or France

    I really laughed during the Logan MCV bit. Thanks for this humorous review. I think 17" wheels are too big for this car. It is best to stick with 16" wheels for better ride comfort and less road noise.

    It is 4 stars. 82% for adults. Same as for the non "safety-pack", which does not offer additional protection in an actuall crahs.

    Just bought a brand new estate Tipo with all the options you can get for 12.995 euro. That's a steal. From the money i saved, i installed a LPG instalation. 0.55 euro cents/liter in my country so no problem that it's not the most fuel economical car.

  • @ssdivizion
    @ssdivizion 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Good value for your money-this works on Balkans not in UK...For ex.Tipo hatchback 5 door(1.4 95 hp petrol) starts from 10.990 euros but in the UK the same car starts from 14.819 euros?!? WTF?

    • @MaximilianvonPinneberg
      @MaximilianvonPinneberg 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's Turkish built so built for the Balkans /Turkey/North Africa. The slightly rough suspension and vague steering is ok for the types of road in the balkans too. You don't need refinement on dirt tracks or roads full of potholes, if they are tamed. This car screams 'holiday hire'; the type you pick up from Burgas Airport on your way to Sunny Beach.

      Miki Mecov building a well finished fiat doesn’t work in the uk either. As the more up market and expensive it gets not matter how good it is British brand snobs will think I can get a German car for a similar price. Fiat with this car will fight Dacia for sales

  • @TribalWolf11
    @TribalWolf11 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    A shame really as Fiat have the ability to build good cars, not always to everyone's taste mind. They seem to be listening to the wrong people when choosing what matters, but then they have a bigger market than the UK to consider and if MOST of the British motoring press had their way we'd all be driving VW group or BMW unreliable Dullboxes. I was in the motor trade for many years and served my time on Fiat/Lancia, so I'm under no illusion of how badly wrong he Italians can get it. Then again I've generally went against the grain when buying cars, which probably explains why I have a Volvo now. Good review, the humour makes it very entertaining,thanks.

      The 7th gen (2017) Astra is definitely better than this. Drives well and comfortable too. Bit frumpy looking but you can get the 197bhp Astra for £20k or less and it has a ton of tech including useful stuff like steering assist, Android Auto, Carplay, Onstar etc. European Car of the Year winner as well.
