- On December 8th 1980, a little after 1pm. John arrives home at the Dakota building from a photo shoot with The Rolling Stone to record an interview with Dave Sholin for RKO. A little after 5pm John and Yoko leave the Dakota and head toward the subway, where a young man offers John a copy of double fantasy to sign.

I am so used to listening to John interviews from way back in the 60s and 70s. It's fun to hear John talking about modern 80s things like Dairy Queen, Hagen Daas and McDonald's!
They had those things in the 60s and 70s you downie lol
Why didn't yoko Ono stay with John while he signed the killers album mark Chapman said he murdered John because John said the Beatles were more popular than Jesus but anyone with common sense wouldn't take it that way. Maybe the klan brainwashed Chapman or the government who knows only God knows and the people involved in the conspiracy no no no
Talk about delivering his own eulogy!!!!
Praise God these people encourage this in depth conversation , with very few, but intelligent interruptions.
So sad, absolutely heartbreaking really, to realise his end is around the corner after hearing his passion and enthusiasm for his life and for his future.
Praise God he was able to acknowledge his first marriage respectfully and his regrets with not seeing much of Julian, and wanting to put it right.
PLUS it was so lovely to hear him speak of the importance of Paul in his life.
I hope Julian and Paul have heard this.
What could have been????
Sad hearing John talk about his plans on the last afternoon of his life.
It's just so sad and surreal.
I can’t believe that hours later, he is brutally taken from us. It’s eerie hearing this.
It’s so crazy to think about
John ,jego piękny głos ! Ogromna strata 😢❤
I have not or ever will get over the loss of such a great and important person. I truly appreciate the very small time we all had with him. And still nothing but nothing will ever get me,myself,or the world get past the loss of our beloved John. I still every day can not get past the tragedy of losing him. Nothing on this earth could even replace him and the oh so sudden loss. The sound of his absence is defeaning
Rest in Peace my sweet John Love 💗
It's just wrong. When he said that life begins in your 40's and told he was happier than ever. It just seems like he lived life in a way he truly wanted to. Freelance musicians dailylife as a head of a family. Then he had also re-established his friendship with Paul and told that "The best things are yet to come." "I'm only 40 and Paul is only 38 when this is taped" in one of his very latest interviews.
Where would things have gone. If only😢
One of the saddest days I can remember
ビデオ..!!ビデオ..!!ビデオ..!!
Just listening to him talk about his morning routine, nobody knew then that he'd never be able to do any of that again
On December 8th 1980 John Lennon was a happy man after the release of his new album after a 5 year silence from the music world and had plans for the future and was so full of life!, but just hours after that interview he was tragically & senselessly murdered!, we all remember where we were & what we did that day?, I hope & pray that John Lennon has found peace☮️ although sadly not quite the way he had planned?, Rest in peace great musician.☮️🎶🎸🎵
I wish to god there was a video to go along with this.
My Heart is breaking to much I realize that they is his last interview but life goes on yeah yeah yeah
Its a real nice last interview but so sad what happend a few hours later that night.
The clothes John is wearing in the photo are the ones he was wearing in that last photo shoot (no pun intended!) that morning at The Dakota, one of the portraits later used for the cover of “The John Lennon Collection” lp…
What is a very eerie is when John Lennon said that he didn’t consider his work and his music and lights work in Centennial he was dead and buried it helped that was in a long time and I don’t think he realized that and a few hours time he would be dead. I think this is one of his great interviews from what I’ve listened to clips of“ of I think he seemed very happy he wasn’t as angry as he was in 1971 during the Rolling Stone interview.
It is so strange to hear John Lennon as just a person.
He is/was a person. What a moronic statement.
Beautiful hands
Thanks for uploading my friend id never heard this before. Tony leicestershire uk. subbed
❤Джон был прекрасным человеком!❤
His assassin was a KGB agent so thanks, I guess ...
Wow very deep and real thanks for posting!
Thanks for listening
HE LEFT US ALL WITH HOPE FOR PEACE AND LOVE....LIKE A MAN 2023 YEARS AGO
@1:42:03 the last group that he mentions was that fine British group The Clash.
He says HI ❤✌✌❤
What anyone thought of Yoko mattered not. He loved that woman & if we cared about the man, we would would respect that.
42 years... is like talking of Tutankamon...
And yet it seems like yesterday.
Neste dia tive a festa de anos mais deprimida ! Fazia 17 anos…
:(
I think John must’ve been very lonely. Rest In Peace John ❤
I don't think so 'cause he had yoko, but John must've been lonely also.
@@joaoricardo396Yoko was in her office “doing business”. Why didn’t they spend time together daily instead of him doing his thing and her in the office?
@@thomasminarchickjr.7355Because the work still has to be done, just as caretaking of Sean
It always amuses me that interviewers around this time make a big thing of John being this incredible 'hands-on' modern father, then when he explains it, it's basically his kid and the nanny doing everything together and he pops in now and again to say hi and watch him be cooked for. I guess that shows how little the majority of fathers usually spent with their kids in those days for that to be exceptional behaviour.
I read the assistants book about working with them until this last day. They really were as phony as Chapman saw them to be. Lennon should have been with his family in England. Karma may not always be instant but it never loses an address.
Yeah, the guy was full of shit. I mean he abandoned his first kid completely so I guess he improved somewhat. But Lennon was a bullshitter anyway. He wrote about no possessions yada yada and Yoko had AN ENTIRE ROOM for her mink coats. They were incredibly materialistic. All the hippie stuff was just a phase. I love Lennon's music (not the shit before he died) but the more you learn from the man the more you see he was not a nice guy - his death resulted in him being treated like a saint. He was anything but.
@@asobstoryforeverysong9853 , You need to understand just how strongly and how far Yoko was into her Witchcraft and Astrology.
Her second husband Anthony Cox disappeared with their daughter because he wanted her to have nothing to do with Yoko saying that 'touching her was like high voltage '.
@@bonniemagpie9960 Yoko won custody of Kyoko but Anthony Cox kidnapped her and raised her in a commune with a group of Christian crazies. Sounds like his voltage was off the charts.
@@asobstoryforeverysong9853 Lennon never claimed to be a saint. He was fallible, at times nasty, and often a messed up person. But he was a genius. People tend to remember somebody who was murdered at a young age, who was one-half of the most successful songwriting teams of the 20th century and the man who founded the largest selling rock group in history. Speaking of saints, Mother Teresa was a real piece of work.
"Yoko's down here in the office every day, "mismanaging" my estate. I guess a bagel or so will be left for Julian."
Totally agree. She was the great manipulator
So what did Yoko do in the office ALL day that was so important she couldn't eat with John & Sean...??
Sounds very sinister
Yes!
witchcraft. "Yes, I'm a witch". 12AM is peek spell casting time. 12-3.
VERY sinister.
Look up the video form their Bed-in - Ouija board letter.
He's reading about his future murder and her face drops, mouth opens.. then he looks to her and she has a delayed nervous laugh. UNCANNY.
She forced the C-section to have Sean on Johns birthday.
I heard an interview about it.
As a child I liked her, now she's terrifying lol
John was a very flawed individual who happened to bring an immeasurable wealth of joy to the world. The lunatic who took his life should have been immediately and publicly executed, not just for taking John’s life but also for robbing the world of what could have been. I know John wouldn’t have approved, but the sheer weight of what was lost demanded capital justice.
I still don’t believe she didn’t know who he was.
Some say he was egotistical maybe; but so much said in this, like he almost knew:!
Why mention the killer's name?
Excellent point, fixed.
was it really to the subway? thought it was into the limo, and away
He lied and he lied too. She knew the Beatles very well, she went first to Paul because he was single at the time but Paul saw her BS and sent her to john.
Take your medicine
Yes we know
What happens at the very end? Does the interviewer want something signed?
he would be dead ten hours later
goo goo ga joob
October 9 came around and Yoko screamed at the doctor's to give her cesarean section to bring about their baby's birth.
Yoko should have worked her astrology better because Sean happens to be born during the year of The Rabbit, as was Cynthia Lennon and so is Julian Lennon.
Sean is more like Yoko.
Last interview was with John Peel
Not aware of any interview in 1980 between Peel and Lennon.
No. You're thinking of Andy Peebles. And that was 2 days earlier than this.
@@scottandrewbrass1931 Of course, I knew it was Andy Peebles, I still have the cassettes. IDK why on earth I said John Peel.
I thought that was the last interview though.
Yoko - definition of a narcissistic personality.
