John should have stuck with May Pang, she sounds like she was a healthy, normal influence on him.
Then Sean wouldn’t have been born.
@@patriciagonzales2148Mourning the existence of someone who didn't exist in an alternate universe seems like a strange way to view the world. I have nothing against Sean Lennon, but if John stayed with Pang then he might have had other children with her and then you would then be asking about them. The same argument could actually be made about the use of birth control and all of the people who were never born,
A better argument would be that John was an adult and for better or worse he chose to go back to Yoko.
@@davidemmet7343 WOW 😂🤣😂 really. How long have you been thinking about this. I completely agree that ppl need to get over it. John loved Yoko

I met her once at a Beatles convention. She was standing in the audience and no one recognized her except me.
I went over and spoke to her and she was wonderful and gave me a kiss. ❤
May was as pretty as a picture, and is still full of life and glamour and charm.
I worked at a Beatles Convention at the LA Bonaventure around 81 or 82. Laurence Juber was there. I didn't know of her then.
@@hispoiema
Juber was a frequent guest at Chicago Beatlefests but I’ve never seen May Pang there unless I missed her. Used to attend every year staying the entire weekend in my younger days but the expense became too much for me for the entire 3 day weekend so I’d either miss Beatlefests altogether or just stop in for one of the days.
So Beautiful! How can John not fall in love with her❓❓
In another Universe, John is still with May Pang, didn't meet Yoko, didnt get murdered, and has written a whole bunch of songs, which we will now never know.😢
So sad that John didn't finish his life with May. She seems so likable. He might still be with us.🙁
No wonder why John loves May .. She is full of vibrant energy ❤. They could have been such a wonderful couple with great dynamics.
I’ve always admired Mae
She always had a practical and honest way about her.
She is someone you would want as a friend
She carries a lot of joy in her energy
She was able to get John connected with his ex-family because for that brief period Yoko was out of the picture.
What a genuine person May Pang is. Haven't seen the doc yet. Never liked Yoko. Always felt she was very controlling and self-serving. Still is. In today's world, a narcissist. Divide and conquer. That said, I truly believe that if John had lived, he would have reunited with May. They shared something very real. I'm happy that she finally has been able to be seen and heard. She's sincere, lovely, and honest.
These controlling women try to isolate their partner from friends & family once they've got you on the hook. They are the lovely person A in the beginning but morf into the calculating controlling person B later and you wonder where the person you married are.
@@tvsmed , Controlling people exist in both sexes, and they all separate the person they’re controlling from others who could be able to help. Yoko is a narcissistic monster. Her songs are horrible. I think she used John to further her music career (which is a pile of garbage, not music). Pimping him out to another woman and coercing them both into a relationship is another example of her controlling behavior.
Watch it… arguably the best documentary on what John was really like. Contains a TREASURE TROVE of photos and stories we never knew existed and shows John in a totally different light ..good and bad! It’s an amazing amazing film!
What a wonderful interview. And props to this gentleman for being an intelligent, SINCERE, person who appeared to have a genuine interest and concern for his subject. The best 32 minutes I've spent on the internet in a while.
THANK YOU!!!!
There were so many rumors about Paul being dead that he finally commented, "If I died, I would be the last one to know about it."
May seems like quite a compassionate, genuine person! It appears that she created some critically positive family moments for John as well as tempering his personality!
I wish John had stayed with May Pang. She is a kind soul. She got John to see Julian and patch things up with Cynthia.
John got the woman he deserved.
I've read an account where Yoko lived as a small child in California for a few years previously? Who knows if that's true? Yoko went to grade school in Japan w/ the empire of Japan's son who later became empire himself. I believe it's her mom's side of family that has some connection to royalty in Japan? Her mom was old money and her dad was new money. He was an international banker. I've read her dad moved the family to the US before WWII and also that they moved to the US in 1953? No idea which is true. Daughters of the rich and powerful in society use to be called debutantes. Coming from rich parents Yoko, when young, seems to have been kind of a Japanese debutante. Opposite of working class Cynthia.
@@dmc4426
Cynthia Lennon was raised in a middle class neighborhood so that’s not considered working class. The Family lived in a house in Hoylake on the Wirral Peninsula which was considered posh by those in Liverpool. In Art College, Lennon facetiously called her Miss Hoylake & Miss Prim but as their relationship progressed to a serious level, he just called her Cyn.
Two weeks before Ono was born, the Father reportedly had to relocate to San Francisco because the bank the Father was affiliated with had him transfer there. The Family soon followed but not until Ono was 2 years old so that’s the first time she had met her Father. Then, the Father was transferred back to Japan in 1937 so Ono lived in California for 2 years as a toddler. Then the Family moved to New York in 1945 but Ono remained in Japan to attend a school called Gakushuin, a University in Tokyo established to educate the children of Japanese Nobility. Don’t think she lived in California as an adult. Time consuming to find all the info in one place as it’s bits & pieces here & bits & pieces there. And it’s not empire, but Emperor. Ono was a classmate of Prince Akihito who did become the Emperor of Japan but I believe they were classmates from University, not grade school. But the age groups are not classified the same as in America. Gakushuin is referred to as a University but she graduated from there at age 18-19. Ono did join her Family in New York after she graduated from Gakushuin so that was about 1952. She was to continue her education in Japan as the first Woman to be accepted in to the Philosophy program but it must not have been her cup of tea as she left after the second semester so again, she joined her Family in NY in 1952
@@dmc4426 Yoko is CIA Asset and Lennon's handler. She and Linda Eastman (Faul McFake's) handler, were both from upstate NY. Syracuse I believe. Coincidence they both met and married a Beatle?! Wow. That's a helluva brazen assumption.@@r.m.simone396
John Lennon was in love with sex. Not women
Yoko was a bad piece of work. May has a lot of class.
It was such an incredible documentary that is sure to bring every Lennon fan to tears… shows May and John living outside his Beatle bubble for probably the first time in years in a way that Yoko STILL has NEVER showed or shared and it can’t help but warm your heart.
Yoko was more of a mother figure to John. She wanted to control him. May was more of a friend and lover to John. May truly wanted John to experience the joy of being a good person and finding happiness in life. That’s why she encouraged him to reconnect with his friends and family. Yoko was greedy and didn’t want John to have anyone but her in his life. Yoko manipulated and plotted to dominate John. That’s how she made him doubt himself.
Yoko has controlled Sean too. No mind of his own. When he was the recipient of all of John wealth he was old enough to give half the Julian but didn't. ☮️
She was so much better for him than Yoko. It's too bad there wasn't the understanding of narcissistic abuse back then. He wouldn't have gone back. He would have stayed where the love was.
Yes, don't we all get the impression that she sapped the life and spirit out of him? My gosh, just look at the photos of him with May Pang. Normal weight, looking optimistic, even ebullient. The only things wrong with The Lost Weekend were his drinking, which was always terrible for him because he couldn't handle it, and what seems to have been his constant nervousness about Yoko Ono. Imagine, indeed, what might have been if he'd divorced Ono and gotten John Eastman or, if he couldn't do a little crawling, someone else credible to manage his finances. Ono is a narcissist and a practicing witch. I feel sorry for Lennon, that he was trapped in a role he didn't like but didn't have any sense of how to get out of.

@@lynnhubbard844 Well it was the 60's and drugs was always part of the 60s

John and Yoko weren’t as happy they seemed throughout their marriage. It seems that Yoko was extremely controlling, Yoko’s relationship with The Beatles wasn’t great either, she also didn’t treat Julian with any love. Yoko being married to someone famous and used that power. During the separation and affairs they should have probably divorced … Yoko certainly wasn’t innocent in any of her actions.. she was diabolical..
Your interview with May is the best one I have seen in a long time. Thank you so much for your charming eloquence, insight, research and empathy ❤
Someone spoke about John getting a phone call from Yoko. They said his facial expression changed, like he had been hypnotized. Now I understand, she told him in order to get his green card, he would have to return to his wife.
Mk Ultra
John was the slave
Yoko the handler
Exactly. Yoko was sponsoring John as her spouse to get him a Green Card. Yoko was a US citizen. Nixon and others in the GOP wanted him deported back to UK, because he faced drug charges there. If he wasn't famous he would have been deported right away. Even if he married a US citizen he would have deported due to his drug charges in the UK. People forget he fled the UK to avoid going to trial and then probably jail. He and Yoko married before he entered the US, so he could claim to be the spouse of an American to gain entry. If he didn't have great immigration lawyers he would have been deported. I had a relative who worked in US Customs at the time explain it to me that he really shouldn't have been let into the US. John did not get his Green Card till after he went back to Yoko, in fact not till after Sean was born. In New York adoptions are closed, no way to find out info. What if John and Yoko wanted to have a kid, which would help him get a Green Card, but couldn't? Yoko had a few miscarriages and was in her 40s. I believe Mays book said John went back to Yoko on April 15 in 1975. But in early October of the same year Yoko gave birth to Sean? If Yoko got pregnant right away when she and John got back together, she'd have been less than 6 months along when Sean was born. Sean weighted 9 pounds at both and obviously wasn't a premie. So if Yoko and John weren't together when Sean was convinced, then maybe May was his mother and Yoko adopted him. It would give John and Yoko the baby they needed for John to get a Green card. You see a baby born out of wedlock wouldn't help get a Green Card. But a baby born to a couple where 1 spouse was already sponsoring the other would help. John and Yoko both have large noses, Sean doesn't. Look at pics of John and Yoko has kids, still has large noses. Sean's nose is small has a kid. I think he might be May and Johns kid, adopted by Yoko. John calls Yoko and tells her May's pregnant. Yoko threatens to stop by sponsoring John and have him sent back to UK to face trial and jail. John kept in contact with May. John did the child care of caring for Sean, maybe because he was John's and not Yoko's. When John vacationed in the US Virgin Island Yoko didn't go with. They seemed to enjoy time apart from each other. When John finally got his Green Card, it was after Sean was born. He stayed with Cynthia while Julian was a baby and until he was school age. He may have loved Yoko, he might have not wanted to loose money in a divorce. Yoko dad was a rich international banker. She went to grade school with the emperor of Japan's son, who later became emperor himself. Their families were friends also. As Yoko was connected to the emperor of Japan, John could always find safety from deportation back to the UK with her, even if it meant moving to Japan. Since Yoko's family was rich, she wouldn't be as easy to divorce as Cynthia was. John stood to lose half his assets if he divorced Yoko. John's drug bust in UK is suspicious too. He was seeing Yoko. It was only him and Yoko doing drugs at her hotel. They only ones who'd have known they were there doing drugs was John, Yoko and his dealer. John had never been raided for drugs before. He was a good customer and I doubt his dealer turned him in. So who then? Yoko had lived in NYC since her parents moved there in her teens. John always lived in England. With the raid and John being arrested for drugs and fleeing from England to avoid court and prison, the question about where the couple would live was answered. They'd live where Yoko preferred to live, NYC. Could Yoko have been the 1 to warn police about drug use at her apartment? Knowing John would be arrested and have to leave England? If you wanted to separate someone from their friends and family and also force them to live where you lived, it was a nasty thing to do, but it would put her in control of John. We know she did that later when Yoko tipped off customs officers to search Paul and Linda's luggage. Remember, Paul was arrested. So she tipped off police once, why not twice? Yoko hated Linda. Yoko wanted kids with John, to play music with John and to be an artist of note. Linda met Paul when she worked as a photographer and was sent to get pics of him. Linda was a paid photographer and that's a form of art , so Linda was a working artist. Linda was able to have kids, Yoko struggled to do so. Linda played piano and had sung in chorus in Highschool. So Linda played music with Paul and his band and they were successful at it. John and Yoko may have deserved each other, lol. But without him, she'd never be considered a legitimate artist. She was a rich girl who played at being a revolutionary and then an artist. She need him to open doors for her art career. He need her for a Green Card.
Great interview Craig. I found it thru a search after seeing May interviewed by her friend. As a Beatle's fan, I'm happy to discover May & her beautiful story. Tastefully done. We can see that John suffered what we now know to be narcissistic abuse. And May gave him breathing space to connect with himself again. Kudos to you May. Many Blessings.🌻

@nenisguevaragomez8122 I totally agree with you, I thought it might have had something to do with his upbringing but it was mentioned that it was related to immigration, yoko was his ticket to stay in America apparently otherwise he was having more fun with May, if Yoko was also handling his business dealings n finances which saved him doing then that's two reasons...either way Yokos treatment of Julian was very cruel and greedy, he was his first child, he didn't deserve any of that.

N Julian.
John was not good for Yoko. Her art career floundered, and it wasn’t because she did “weird” things. That was the art scene at the time. It was conceptual and performance art. If people only read a fucking book about art history after WWII. She married a pop singer, it was seen as a kind of surrender to the mainstream and commercial among the avant-garde

May said the only reason John went back to Loco, was because that would give him a much better chance of becoming a USA citizen, being able to go back and forth between the US and England. But just for extra insurance, to keep John living with her, AND keep John interested in her, Yoko came up with a VERY reinforced plan, of getting pregnant with John’s baby!! THAT cinched it for her!! She definitely had him back then!! AND she got pregnant almost immediately after he left May and rejoined Loco!! And it was the same year (1975), in the fall, that he got his immigration papers. It was around the time of his son, Sean’s birth. I have always wondered if John and Loco wouldn’t have had a child, if he would have left her, after getting the immigration papers, and gone back to May!! Because I know if John would have left Loco, to go back to May, and wanted custody of Sean, or even visiting privileges, Loco would have fixed it so John would get neither of privileges!! Even if she had to out and out lie, or pay off other people to persuade the court that John wasn’t a fit father!! Loco Yoko is a real piece of work!! I guess she is into witchcraft, also!! So THAT makes her an honest to goodness REAL WITCH!!

To me, John and Yoko perfectly represent the Borderline/Narcissist relationship dynamic. I really wish he could have stayed with May. She seemed like a very stable, loving, and reliable person which is exactly what John needed. I wish there was more of a dialogue around these issues back then, and I wonder if John recognized the toxic pattern that was playing out if he would have attempted to leave Yoko.

I’m one of the few who saw the documentary. Because it has had a limited release. In my view, it is about celebrity and especially before social media stars could for the main do what they wanted. May Pang according to the documentary was selected by John and Yoko to be his lover. John and Yoko with no doubt picked May for this role said the documentary. May worked for John and Yoko and was very young about 21. This action was horrible because it took advantage of a lopsided power dynamic. It forever changed May’s life in a way May did not fully understand at that time. This intrusion into her realty by John and Yoko caused May to now have this forever benchmark of the three years of John Lennon into her life. It’s a good documentary that shows John and Yoko as flawed people and May as someone taken advantage of by John and Yoko.
May Pang is hilarious, she's an Asian girl who sounds like an Italian girl from New York, haha! Very interesting woman.
Yeah, has the NY accent from being born & raised there just like black people born & raised in England have the British accent which is completely different than when they are raised in the big metro cities of the USA
What an incredible interview. The best I have ever seen May Pang participate in. She is so classy and elegant and her story compelling. Can't wait to see the documentary. Love this so much I watched it through twice. Excellent work Craig Bennett :)
Love the sincerity of May
Great interview, enjoyed it thoroughly! Now I have to see the movie in the proper format!! Thanks again ❤
Glad you enjoyed it and the documentary is definitely worth watching. Kelley
Life happens how it is meant to happen. I watched the documentary and it brought me to tears. The life John could have had with May could have kept him with us longer. Of course, it’s not Yoko’s fault we lost him but hard not to feel that this one choice changed the course of his life for the worse not better. His relationship with Yoko was unhealthy but we will never know why he went back to her. Sometimes we go back to our dark places because we don’t know how to be happy, we are more at home in the darkness. Yoko probably knew John’s darkest places, and he may not have been able to accept the love from someone so good and innocent like May. He may have not felt deserving of May’s love. She was so young and he had lived a lifetime. I wish John would have loved himself enough to be happy with May. More heartbreaking was Julian’s loss. Yoko did everything to destroy that relationship. Even to this day Julian has never recovered. John was complex and deeply wounded person. Deep scars from his mother. I’m sad he never seemed to find healing before he lost his life. I’m happy though he had this with May even if it was for a short period. Thank you for sharing your story May. I didn’t know John but since I was a girl I felt him a certain way through his music and I feel like this documentary touched on that feeling I had of him.

Have you read "Billy's Back"? Do you follow Mike Williams channel? Also the Number Nine blog?
@@fazole I haven’t seen those. I have to check them out. Thanks for the suggestions know everything I said above it’s just when you get into the fact that yoko is a communist. Him turning conservative heaven had somebody ghost write a song that he was probably coerced into publishing. Meanwhile, I want to be coerced mean like he was enamored with her and the whole ideology was an amber with that and the story of the election, I think in 72 where he’s at the party, and he feels humiliated that he’s being used again I think at the end of his lies, he come to a completely different conclusion, which for what it’s worth I think subconsciously you can tell that it is songs on double fantasy he found out probably that he wasn’t some radical ideologies. I would like to think the last moment in his life he realize he made a mistake he probably would’ve had no idea why he been shot. I’m sure that was set up because he hast to continue the agenda.
Stephanie - the only hold she had on him was the GREEN CARD -YOKO held it like a carrot on front of him and the loss of it terrified him. That was the only hold.
I didn't realise she had so many lovers.
And in the Dakota Buildings there was a whole floor which was refrigerated and held their 200 fur coats.
This didn't seem like John to me more like Yoko ideas. Who would be for peace when killing wild animals lay behind it. How many Mink coats, Russian fox etc does one need.
I don't think it was John at all. He loved animals.
Peace out ☮️
The movie was really good made me cry I think he used her and she loved him and had no clue he was using her she was young and naive it must be so hard to lose someone without closure. It’s on prime video to rent
Very moving and insightful interview - bless you May…
great interview, mate! something is driving me nuts, though... what morning show here in Aus are/were you on? you're soooooo familiar!!!! ✌🏻👊🏻🤟🏻
I found this that might explain Craig Bennett's familiarity. I love this site and his interviews, so I had a bit of a look: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Bennett
Sorry we're driving you nuts! Craig and I met while working on Studio 10 but we both left some time ago. So that's where you've probably seen him.
Yes, I've found Craig has done some great interviews with major stars when doing that OZ morning show (I'm on the US east coast, so don't know the show but was ingrained by his excellent reporting/presenting/interviewing prowess). You can startle up some terrific ones on TH-cam.
@@celebritydrop thats it!! i knew it was on channel 10.. but i couldnt remember if it was on old Moonface's show (GMA) or Studio 10... Thank you!! X
Such a sweet, beautiful lady. I always enjoy May's interviews and her recollections of her time with John. It's a shame that they didn't stay together because she was really good for him - he got to be himself when he was with her - he started making music again and reconnected with his friends and the other Beatles (his brothers, as May says). I definitely want to see this film.
As for Yoko, there's nothing I can say that hasn't been said already. I hope she's happy with the life she made for herself.
Oh I’m sure she is, she got all his money, which is mostly what she was after. And his celebrity status rubbing off on her. She was a bad influence, this woman would have been a good one.
Shes so sweet and adorable.☮️
I absolutely LOVE May Pang!!
What a great video! I truly enjoyed every second of it. I think this is my third time watching it because May is so charismatic, and interesting. Not to mention, such a lovely lady. I wish John would’ve stayed with May! Honestly, I do! Something tells me, he might still be with us if he had! I always had thoughts that yoko COULD have had something to do with John’s murder. I say that because, I read, John wasn’t barely cold yet before she moved another guy into the Dakota apartment!!
I’m not alone when I say, I just never liked her!
Thank you so very much for sharing this wonderful video with us all!! I love and miss John so much. I was 23 years old when he died! We were having a birthday party for my little brother’s 16th, dec 8, 1980! Having a great time when we heard Howard Cosell interrupt the football game to announce that awful news!
We stopped the party, and just sat there in my parents living room..not understanding what the hell was happening!!
Love this video.. and I love May! Thanks, again!
So glad you enjoyed our conversation with May. She is such a sweet lady and it's lovely to hear that they had such a lovely relationship - and one that continued right up to his death.
Yes I was 22 and watching the game when Howard C. Came on and said he died. I ran down stairs crying like a baby. My room mates freaking out what what what's happening. I crying out my guy is dead my soul feels shredded in two. I played Julia and prudence on guitar all night crying out loud. R.I.P Johnny and the moon dogs the sliver Beatles, the Beatles the elephant memory band plastic Ono band......bye Walrus Winston Ono Lennon rock on were ever Krishna took you bro
Great interview
Great interview, interviewer and lovely guest. Very good vibrations coming from it ✌️🕊️
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for your lovely comment.
I don't know much about May but she looks young and seems like a very nice and decent lady. Not like Yoko. Ugh.
Wonderful interview. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
So sad to think that John had the chance to get free of Yokos control and be with May, who was such a better person for him. She tried to reunite him with Julian, help give closure with Cynthia, and mend things with Paul. Have always believed had he not gone back to Yoko, uad he stayed with May, he might not have been murdered in 1980.
I met May in Boca at a gallery exhibiting her photos with John. I cried when i saw them. She captured some beautiful images of their time together. She is a lovely lady. It's a shame how Yoko manipulated this scenario to her advantage. I felt badly how abruptly John up and left . That had to be painful for her.
Fantastic interview and what a great human being.......She is riveting and the content of the interview was perfect. Thank you !!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it Lina. Thank you for watching.
I do believe he was happy with May.
Excellent interview. Maybe the best I've seen with her.
High praise indeed Sue. Thank you for your kind words.
May Pang is a very sweet soul who will do very well during and after the shift to the next world. I am in love!! ❤❤
I hope so!
A delightful surprise and I look forward to more through her documentary. 🌈✌🌻
