Film Obsessed Awesome breakdown, review, and analysis. I LOVED Alien: Romulus (Looking forward to seeing it a second time). I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was (I could tell that A LOT of love went into making this film).
Overral, the movie is a win for the franchise and do the same thing Prey did for Predator franchise,is revigorate interest for more future movies, right?
Loved the film! Only issue is with all except the older Aliens films. Is how fast the facehugger makes the fetus alien in the host and how fast it grows when out of the host. It’s like minutes vs hours/a day in the older films.
It clear has some Xeno traits(the Newborn) the tail, the back tubes and yes,it's scary, bizzare, even it is not so ferocioussly scary like Newborn from Alien Ressurection, for example
@@JesperHellvik I guess I mean it didn't offend me them using that line there I mean at least it was in a situation of fighting a Xeno as opposed to just randomly coming up in a conversation between characters
The Ofspring((Newborn) is a mix betwen human and Engineer and because of the black goo,has that appereance,so it is interesting and that means the Engineers tested on themselfs the substance,it is more to disect here...
Well it seems like someone making the movie took heavy inspiration from not just Prometheus but also Alien Resurrection with that one and tbh with you I think Romulus did it better and scarier
I don't think I missed the point at all. Suspense and tension can be used to describe the same thing I just happen to use the word tension instead of suspense. I also disagree completely, I was in suspense during the movie and while ya there's some predictability based on past examples lets not act like it wasn't predictable with the original Alien.
This movie treaded uneeded familiar territory. Dunno if that was the director's or suits' decision but it made the movie boring. The "get away from her" line reminded me of a superior movie I could be watching. Maybe I'm just a psychopath but the face huggers in this movie looked pretty trashy compared to the originals. Odd because a lot of the other practical effects look pretty good. The human/alien hybrid was dumb af. Just like it was in Alien Ressurection. Out of all the pactical effects why did the chest burster scene have to be cgi? It looked incredibly lame. Comics were able to give us interesting and new Alien stories so why can't these directors? Only new thing we got from this movie was the Alien cacoon. Aliens was so awesome partly because it contributed major things like the queen. The drama between the humans and android was completely unecessary. This movie really felt like it was trying to copy its predecessors instead of go its own way. Don't get me started on Prey. The predator's death was insanely stupid.
This take sounds like it’s coming from a jaded place. This movie was way more entertaining and executed better than the last two installations in the series.
Hated it, they need to leave the black goo behind, xenos just gestate in like 10 minutes now? and we had after alien 4, who thought it was a good idea to do another hybrid? it just felt like a movie that was just all the bits of the franchise chucked together while having nothing original, like it wasnt bad enough repeating the same scenes over and over, the same dialogue too!
@@craigwolfe249 I don’t agree I really liked it. At the same time let’s be completely real here, even if this movie did not connect to any of the other films of the franchise, but only tried to be like the first then is it really truly doing anything original then? if the movie was trying to be like the original alien and being condensed and suspenseful horror film then you’re just treading off that film you’re not doing your own thing. What this movie needed to do was follow what made the formula work for this franchise? I personally did not care if it did follow stuff from the other movies. In my opinion, that only builds on the worldbuilding and lore.
The zero-G scenes are SO creative! Brilliant stuff!

Agreed on all points! Thank you for the kind words!

Agreed they are getting these franchises back into the light
SO true - I agree 100%.
Loved the film!

Ya it did seem like it was a bit quicker in this one for sure but glad you loved it
The first 3 Alien movies are ALL iconic, Romulus is decent but is not a patch on the others.
It's for me up with the first 2

My only gripe with this movie boils down to TWO WORDS. That's it. Everything else is f**king awesome!
Two words?
@@filmobsessednerd "...you b*tch". If Andy had only said "get away from her..." and left it hanging there, it would have been perfect.

Possibly yes that could be the case
What's up with that creepy and weird newborn ???

The only thing horrifying about Romulus, is the screenplay.
@@LemonsAndSalt69 lol I don’t agree but to each their own
And the editing which is atrocious and makes Romulus feel rushed
Miss the point of the formula ...
The original Alien was suspenseful ... this was not.
This Romulus had a continuous feeling of predictability.
