The part about Gizzard fans not realizing how popular the band is really clocked me because I didn't even think they were popular enough to make the list
Yess it's so weird. I feel like I'm just alone with my king gizzard obsession because I like can't find anyone who actually listens to them. And I forget that they're actually pretty popular. Went to my first kglw concert tonight and it was crazy just knowing that like everyone there actually knows them and doesn't say "huhhh" when I mention their name!!

Yeah, that sounds about right. I love learning about war history and I enjoy fps games, but actually getting drafted into all that bullshit and having to fight on the front lines is one of my worst nightmares lmao
Why is it bad for someone to geek about history without going to war, though? Isn’t it a good thing when people don’t go to war? There are much better things to bully Sabaton fans about than "ha ha ur never gonna voluntarily be in a war zone!“
I'll try and write a few: Olivia Rodrigo: You are probably under twenty and are enjoying your youth and I can't fault you for that. Black Country, New Road: You like being sneered at by multi-instrumentalists. MF DOOM: You're an all round chill person who likes a jazzy vibe and doesn't take shit too seriously. Sabrina Carpenter: You only listen to music that is popular on Tiktok. Mitski: You are either really cool or really insufferable, there's no middle ground. Bob Dylan: You most likely romanticise the '60s and have a peevish attitude to modern music. Elliott Smith: You have a great taste in music but for the love of god get therapy. Sufjan Stevens: You also have a great taste in music but you are either gay or one zesty mfer. Death Grips: No matter how hard you try you will NEVER beat the fantanocore allegations. Tom Waits: You are most likely a cool dad but if you're a young person then you're really cool and I want to be your friend.
Yeah man, Sufjan Stevens makes some deadly music but *damn* do I get homo urges while listening to ‘Chicago’~ and that’s not even mentioning the Mystery of Love album 😅😅
@@alexjeffrey4093 Being a Sufjan superfan also dramatically raises the likelihood that you will get into an argument where you find yourself insisting that there *is* good contemporary Christian music actually, have you listened to Danielson Famile or Joy Electric or Soul-Junk? You do know that Seven Swans is mostly retellings of Bible stories? This does not in fact reduce the zestiness; if anything, it makes the kind of gay you are *way* more apparent. :P
The gorillaz depends on which albums you listen to: Gorillaz/Demon Days/Plastic Beach: You're probably pretty normal, you put some of this on at house parties D-Sides: You have a slight fascination with Hong Kong Journey to the West (I know its not gorillaz): You have a weird fascination with Hong Kong The Fall/G-Sides: The other albums weren't enough, you probably have a weird obsession or collection of some kind Laika Come Home: You smoke a HORRENDOUS amount of weed Any of the new albums: Either you've moved on from the 2000s or you write weird fanfics of the characters
Phoebe bridgers- you’re a lesbian Clairo- you’re a lesbian Chappelle Roan- you’re a lesbian (or you just think her music is really, really fun and you’re right)
Imagine Dragons were the first band i discovered *on my own*, without anyone else showing them to me. so for that reason i have a soft spot for them, along with their older music being quite good and the band having an interesting history in general. they’ve become a totally different band at this point than what they were 10+ years ago, but despite the (sometimes valid) criticism they get they’ll always have a special place in my heart. idk if i’d still consider them to be my “favorite” nowadays, but they’ve got some gems in their discography for sure.
If you haven't already, I'd check out their Mercury album. While it has some misfires, it also has some of their best music since Smoke + Mirrors. It's a least at step up from Evolve and Origins.

As a male Weezer fan, I'm not going to comment on the misogyny line. I will say I'm surprised Billy didn't go for the low hanging "you are definitely a virgin" bit
@@RealBlueony its a joke, i love girls, but i did have a phase when i was 13-15 and i had final boss internalized misogyny, mainly towards myself, that was also around the time i found weezer, coincidence? i dont think so
@@0heda734 I kinda get it in the sense that loathing and self doubt is a common theme for people that age and also in parts of Blue and Pinkerton especially. I don't think Weezer themselves meant the songs to be misogynistic, but Pinkerton in particular is just one of the most raw and honest album in terms of negative emotions across the board, it's 10 songs consisting entirely of the intrusive thoughts we have as humans. It's almost comforting in a way to know I'm not the only one who has bad thoughts regarding relationships and whatnot. I'm autistic so apologies if this came across wrong at all, I truly don't mean it to be weird or creepy. Also, "I'll bring home the turkey if you bring home the bacon" will forever be a banger of a line, and only Weezer can pull off such a line the way they did.
Cannibal Corpse: Your presence may scare away small children, but you are secretly the nicest person ever. Nas: You know damn well Jay-Z lost that beef and no one will convince you otherwise. Lil Nas X: You love all kinds of music, and you appreciate queer representation in media. That, or you’re way too quick to jump on TikTok trends. Kid Rock: At this point, you’re only listening to him to own the libs. Lamb of God: You’re in your 30’s or 40’s, have a respectable beard, a full sleeve of tattoos, and you definitely have at least one denim jacket in your closet that you pull out for concerts. Everyone respects you. Morgan Wallen: You’re either a 20 something year old woman from the Midwest or a city slicker. Absolutely no in between. Led Zeppelin (continued): You prefer not to think about Jimmy Page’s taste in girls. AC/DC: You assume that everyone around you agrees that AC/DC is the greatest rock band ever, regardless of the reality that AC/DC is just the inoffensive backing track to sporting events, commercials, and any other situation where some rich executive who can’t name a single rock band from the 21st century assumes that rock music would be appropriate. Johnny Cash: You look down on all this newfangled country music. These kids and their damn trucks don’t know a damn thing about roughin’ it out in the country beyond what’s been pandered to them by these suit wearin’, cocktail drinkin’ label execs and their industry plants. You listen to REAL country music. Architects: There are so many reasons why Architects is your favourite band. Sam Carter has a great voice, the music always hits hard, they have a knack for catching you in the feels, and it’s not that hard to pretend that their last two albums never happened. Queens of the Stone Age: I recommend buddying up with fans of Greta Van Fleet and Franz Ferdinand so that the rest of us don’t have to talk to you. ICP: I don’t want to throw too much shade for your music tastes. Shit, if I grew up in Detroit with nothing better to do, I’d probably wanna join a cult too. Dream Theatre: If someone were to convince the DT fans who spent countless hours examining Octavarium to start investigating the zodiac killer, we would have found that guy many years ago. Tool: The members of Tool are immensely talented. Not at music per se, but talented at making ordinary people become extremely pretentious in only 20 minutes (or whatever the length of an average Tool song is these days). Coldplay: It’s become somewhat cool to hate on Coldplay, but you know that Coldplay is popular for a reason, and you’re happy to enjoy their music without making a fuss about it. MSI: You’re weird, and we love that for you. Nickelback: You are very brave for admitting that your favourite band is Nickelback. I’m proud of you.

Genesis: you’re a dad similar to the Queen and FF fans of the video. You love AOR. Invisible Touch: You watched American Psycho, you sigma boy. We Can’t Dance: You didn’t know 10+ minute songs were possible. Peter Gabriel era BEGS for you if ya liked this, at least assuming you also are unaware that the band was already existent in the 60’s and 70’s. As a PTV fan, I always thought that pierce the veil was a 3rd wave of emo? They don't really have the 2000s emo sound. It's more early 2010s imo. Like I don't put MCR in the same category of PTV, not because one is better than the other but because to me they differ quite a lot in quality in sound. I would probably put PTV in the same category as Bring me the horizon, sleeping with sirens, and Falling in Reverse. It's that sound from 2009-2013 that isn't really old. Sabaton - For the person who geeks about WWII but the closest to an actual war they'll ever get is playing Call of Duty.
And spends lots of money on World of Tanks add-ons
Yeah, that sounds about right. I love learning about war history and I enjoy fps games, but actually getting drafted into all that bullshit and having to fight on the front lines is one of my worst nightmares lmao
Why is it bad for someone to geek about history without going to war, though? Isn’t it a good thing when people don’t go to war? There are much better things to bully Sabaton fans about than "ha ha ur never gonna voluntarily be in a war zone!“
or a piratecore bisexual with the feminine urge to fight for the holy land (me. it's me)
Nah i just like to learn, if war happens now i'd be the first to pass 💀
I'll try and write a few:
Olivia Rodrigo: You are probably under twenty and are enjoying your youth and I can't fault you for that.
Olivia Rodrigo and Mitski fan here, I expected a horrible roast for Olivia 😭
Yeah man, Sufjan Stevens makes some deadly music but *damn* do I get homo urges while listening to ‘Chicago’~ and that’s not even mentioning the Mystery of Love album 😅😅
Olivia Rodrigo song brutal contradicts what you said 😅
@@alexjeffrey4093 Being a Sufjan superfan also dramatically raises the likelihood that you will get into an argument where you find yourself insisting that there *is* good contemporary Christian music actually, have you listened to Danielson Famile or Joy Electric or Soul-Junk? The Fall/G-Sides: The other albums weren't enough, you probably have a weird obsession or collection of some kind
Laika Come Home: You smoke a HORRENDOUS amount of weed
Any of the new albums: Either you've moved on from the 2000s or you write weird fanfics of the characters

Dude, same! I discovered it when I was 9, and it was the first band I knew by name!

Johnny Cash: You look down on all this newfangled country music. Queens of the Stone Age: I recommend buddying up with fans of Greta Van Fleet and Franz Ferdinand so that the rest of us don’t have to talk to you.

Anthrax: You don't know why everyone hates them and you're too scared to ask.
The only time I liked Anthrax was when they did Bring the Noise with Public Enemy lol
Linkin Park one not true for me, considering I was born in '06 😅
i love the top 3 sm. sadly you got me wrong tho but heres a virtual cookie for trying :D 🍪
@@Shreysoldier more like Linkin Park: this band is the only thing holding your fragile psyche together (I say as a fellow street soldier)
@@junkhead_92 Megadeth continued: Your number two fear in life is having to pay taxes.
I'm surprised I avoided being in this list with my favorite bands being Talking Heads and Swans.
Then again, I don't need anyone to make jokes, the jokes write themselves.
Ah, I love knowing that my favorite band is so obscure that nobody ever mentions them
No way he is going to mention Deadmau5.
Mentions Daft Punk.
Eh, close enough.
My favorite band is Genesis, who aren’t here… However, my second favorite band is Tally Hall, so i can confirm that the description for them is kind of accurate, although i’ve never been a theater kid asides from enjoying Gilbert & Sullivan operettas & i most definitely did NOT peak when i was a toddler (although i was 10 times happier then)
Genesis is also my favorite band, I”ll actually do it for every album:
From Genesis to Revelation: You must have learned with that one Radiohead track, “How to Disappear Completely”, or you just aren’t real.
Trespass: You like Jethro Tull but wish they made soft rock focusing more on the flutes. You can also be a fanatic for heavy metal that only remembers The Knife.
Nursery Cryme: You think you’re a dark and goth person, but you’re just another emo MCR stan.
Foxtrot: You forget the album is not just Supper’s Ready.
Selling England: You are surreally patriotic. Maybe you are also just going for the most acclaimed album.
Lamb: You actually discovered yourself trans because of this album (ok I was too harsh, let’s change it). Or you were high listening to it and thought the concept made sense.
Trick of the Tail: You hate Peter and love prog. You also identify with the Squonk creature a lot.
Wind and Wuthering: You are only happy during winters.
And Then There Were Three: you hate Steve or love Follow You Follow Me. “Wait, there are actually 10 other tracks? Hurray!” 50 minutes later: “too progressive”.
Duke: you’re going or went through a breakup, you’re or were depressed, or both. Do you need a hug? I know how it feels like, this is also my favorite album.
Abacab: You loop the title track’s ending improv til you get tired. That means til someone turns off your device.
Calling All Stations: you’re a Ray Wilson friend or parent and pretends to him he actually made their best album so he feels better. Tbh he was the best part of the record for the most part.
I was not dead serious in any of those, and it all seriously lacked creativity, but enjoy my effort.
I don’t get how Genesis became so… obscure?? They were so HUGE and then I have yet to come across a single other gen z who listens to them in real life???
@@klozz2080 nah every moment of and then there were three is genius imo. especially burning rope & the lady lies
I love Genesis, but I thought it was hilarious when Neil said on an episode of The Young Ones "I'm sooo bored, we might as well be listening to Genesis!" 🤣
@@klozz2080This is amazing, i love this
No call outs for king crimson? damn
Lol same, here's an attempt:
Seethes every time they're brought up for their debut and nothing else. Considered fully switching to Fripp tuning at least once.
@@Adrian-mq7sjI feel bad because nothing they've made has really captivated me as much as their first album
I appreciate the Daft Punk compliments
Me : Well I don't want to be bullied but let's see what he says
Him : "I want to be friend with you. Potentially lovers even."
I’m between MCR and hide
Also god damn you went hard on some of these lol
As a bo burnham and tally hall fan, I can confirm I am way too into theater. Unfortunately the only thing that peaked for me in the 2010s was my happy monster band obsession, because I was like 5 when tally hall broke up
I like bothhhhhh. The allegations are real!
I like the kinks, that era is the best imo. If you want to know why listen to the minions 2015 soundtrack, it’s full of great 60’s and 70’s songs
VGPS is incredible
The minions soundtrack would fit perfect on a Vietnam movie
@@average_peanut_fan3059 hell yeah
5:13 Words cannot express how grateful I am that you included Rush ❤🙏
Me not expecting there to be anything for mine. Gorrilaz pops up :O (although to be fair in my case not accurate I don’t like anime all that much I’d rather just play video games) still glad there was something and no that was not a lie about the anime thing
“No, I don’t wanna read your fanfiction”
I guess I’m new to this sort of thing :D
My favorites are PATD, Gorillaz, and Bowie. I’ve never read a fanfic (and never will), I’ve never watched anime, and I- have been described as sassy in the past so I guess the Bowie one tracks.
you won’t read fanfic?!? ah nah you’re missing out, it’s peak writing /j
Got me feeling good about myself with mcr and then gorillaz hit me like an 18 wheeler
My favorite band is the Butthole Surfers. I can't get enough of them.
They have some great music 😊
You have great taste
That some really interesting music you like.
I need a part 2, I wanna know what you have to say abt my group of nerds
As a PTV fan, I always thought that pierce the veil was a 3rd wave of emo? They don't really have the 2000s emo sound. It's more early 2010s imo. Like I don't put MCR in the same category of PTV, not because one is better than the other but because to me they differ quite a lot in quality in sound. I would probably put PTV in the same category as Bring me the horizon, sleeping with sirens, and Falling in Reverse. It's that sound from 2009-2013 that isn't really old. I mean it's a decade old now but still fairly recent.
@@dollz4ever It’s more like the fourth or fifth wave-first-wave emo is like, I dunno, Embrace, maybe Moss Icon-but I think it’d be a lot more accurate to call their whole thing an outgrowth of metalcore which wound up sharing a subcultural space with more melodic later emo.
Where the hell was Oingo Boingo boingo boy
3:46 That's just the way life's meant to be, Billy. You can't bully us for being superior.
Why did I immediately think of The Way Life’s Meant To Be off of ELO’s Time album 😭
@@mj.6408 this was an intentional reference, fulfilling the joke that ELO fans are stuck in the past by inserting old song titles in regular conversation.
The fact that I listen to and adore the majority of these bands tells me just how unoriginal my personality is.
“Your living the moment and I love that” ofc I am
