I was born 5 months and 1 day after American Idiot was released… Gotta say, it’s stuck with me for a long time and I’ve always been a huge fan of that album as a whole.
If you want to listen to some Queens of the Stone Age, Rated R and Songs For The Deaf are prime 2000s records. SFTD in particular is incredibly timeless and unique.
The only reason I know of the Arctic Monkeys is because of people making fun of the people that call Arctic Monkeys underground. If that meme never popped up I probably wouldn’t even hear the name Arctic Monkeys ever.
Billy, you can't do a 90's and 2000's rock tier list, without at least mentioning modest mouse. Listen to the moon and antartica, and the lonesome crowded west. They are very good
He has no taste bro he says Coldplay are good, doesn't know who Big Star is, and you expect him to have listened to Lonesome Crowded West? If I tried to start a carpentry channel I would fail miserably because I'm a plumber and don't know much about carpentry but for some reason with making a music channel it's okay.
@@joelglanton6531 Mindset of a 5 year old. Big star is not near the size of any of the bands he talked about and Lonesome crowded west isn’t 2000’s. Just cause he has a different music taste doesn’t mean it’s bad. People who act like you are why people hate the rock community
@@thebigpapa4699 Gee, it's almost like I mentioned Lonesome Crowded West because the comment I'm replying to brought it up. I don't care how many records Big Star sold or how "big" you think they are. I'm not going to consider a self-styled music critic as any kind of authority on rock music if they have no idea who they are- the influence that Big Star and Alex Chilton had should be undeniable. What you're saying is like telling me that an art critic doesn't need to know anything about Vincent Van Gogh because he only sold two paintings. Lastly, if a person has hatred in their heart for anyone, that's on them. I'm not responsible for anyone hating anyone just because the only thing that comes out of my mouth isn't sunshine and rainbows. It's this kind of toxic positivity and refusal to call people out for their shortcomings in knowledge or expertise that's responsible for the loads of garbage content on TH-cam- it's the same kid of thinking that says there shouldn't be a dislike button. If any comment that isn't outright praise hurts your little feelings then all you need to do is shut your screen off.
for the longest time i felt that way about muse's first two 2000's albums (oos and absolution) being better than bhar and the resistance, but goddamn i have no complaints about black holes and revelations the more i listen to it. on the more personal and subjective side origin will always be my favourite but i think bhar just feels better structure-wise, and has less weak spots. feels awkward to put this after the muse paragraph but i enjoy and appreciate the video!
Billy Cobb: *puts Papa Roach in D-tier* Also Billy Cobb: *plays Papa Roach song in outro* P.S. I actually really enjoy your tier lists. Even though I disagree with a few of your selections, I'm very respectful of them. Good day, sir.
fall out boy was DEFINITELY a girlfriend band. the lyricisms is what gets most people it’s really good it’s rlly creative pete wentz is a very talented man but at the same time he also was very out there for the time, being in teen magazines and all that. in heychris’s call out post (an open letter to pete wentz) he even calls out pete for leaving his love for music and replacing it with his love for shtty fashion. pete had a lot to do with the band being categorized how it did
14:21 I don’t agree with this. While Fall Out Boy was more just straight pop punk/emo pop, Panic! At The Disco has more influence from other genres. A Fever You Can’t Sweat out had some electronic influence, and Pretty Odd has a very mellow vibe to it. Maybe it’s just because I love them both, but I don’t think their as similar as you say they are.
The reason Fall Out Boy and Panic! at The Disco sound so similar is because the latter was a blatant copy of the first. Putting them in the same tier is like putting The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys in the same tier. Do listen to From Under the Corktree, Infinity on High and Folie a Deux. There are some FANTASTIC songs there, and Patrick Stump's vocal capacity and range is unbelievable!
lmao not even close. not even top 2 garage rock eras. the original garage bands of the 60s and 70s had better music. and more modern 2010s garage rock are also better. 2000s 'garage rock revival' had like, what, 5 good bands? get a clue
Coldplay is easily S-tier for me. Everytime I come back to them I find more and more to appreciate, especially with their first 4 albums. I feel they get a bad rap for being too sentimental or whatever, but that's part of why I love them, and because they do that type of music justice.
I’ve never got into them, in fact I really don’t like them at all, but I will always say that they are great musicians, and whilst I don’t like them, I think they get far more hate than they deserve
I would probably put them in A tier if we’re just looking at 2000s output. I wouldn’t put them on the same level as Radiohead or The White Stripes but Coldplay kinda got me into listening to music and Parachutes, Rush of Blood, and Viva La Vida are all great.
for me they are good as a band up until mylo/ghost stories i don't like their albums after a head full of dreams because i don't dig the pop tunes of the mid-late 2010s but honestly I admire them as musicians and how chris martin is just having fun. they are overhated and unfairly compared to maroon 5.
Linkin Park at A tier is pretty good, maybe pushing A-tier basing it on their 2000s music Hybrid Theory and THEN Meteora is probably one of the biggest 2 album opener to a career in the 2000s

how can you not like echoes, silence, patience and grace ? I truly cant believe you actually gave their albums more than one listen.
@@guilhermecastro4553 I never said I heard all their albums.
Agreed.
Muse is S-Tier for sure. No question. Their 4 albums in 2000s are almost the only albums i have listened multiple times. Their music is almost everything i wanted from music.
YES
I hate seeing them compared to Radiohead. Muse is honestly unique.
I was born 5 months and 1 day after American Idiot was released…
Gotta say, it’s stuck with me for a long time and I’ve always been a huge fan of that album as a whole.
As far as Green Day albums, it is Insomniac that is stuck with me. Fantastic album.
I was born 5 months and 14 days before it. I feel a similar way as you about it.
Alright, kid. The adults are talking. Like me, born three weeks before American Idiot
If you want to listen to some Queens of the Stone Age, Rated R and Songs For The Deaf are prime 2000s records. SFTD in particular is incredibly timeless and unique.
i am satisfied with this list.
Yeah same
RCHP peaked in the 90s man has never heard of literally two of the goat albums apparently
Paramour S tier in my opinion, they got better over time tho
MCR Danger Days came out in 2010
so that would be the only record that wouldn't count
the black parade alone probably ranks them highly for a lot of people. 3 cheers>tbp though
aaaaand it's also the worst one so... not really a loss
@@SirBigDaddy69 agrred 3 cheers is the better record imo not dissing black parade its a masterpiece as well
You did my boy Blink 182 dirty but I'm still leaving a like and a comment. Great content bro
@@joelglanton6531 Maybe he has different music taste than you🤯
@@thebigpapa4699 Yeah, bad taste.
If any comment that isn't outright praise hurts your little feelings then all you need to do is shut your screen off.
i like how vampire weekend got an a-tier while having one album in the 2000s.
and yet no lcd soundsystem
@@saturatedneowax LCD aren't a traditional rock band
@@Inshallah_andStill less traditional than 2000’s Radiohead?

I don't get how Franz Ferdinand are dated. Tonight is one of my favourite albums of all time.
Yeah. Franz Ferdinand are great.
Because, it's your opinion vs someone else's opinion.

for the longest time i felt that way about muse's first two 2000's albums (oos and absolution) being better than bhar and the resistance, but goddamn i have no complaints about black holes and revelations the more i listen to it. on the more personal and subjective side origin will always be my favourite but i think bhar just feels better structure-wise, and has less weak spots.
feels awkward to put this after the muse paragraph but i enjoy and appreciate the video!
What about The Resistance. That one has always been a favorite of mine.
Arcade Fire, anybody? Call me a hipster fuck but their discography is soooo diverse and brilliant!
Hmm... Any suggestions to start listening them?
@@caroswolf286 Their debut Funeral until the end. lol

P.S. I actually really enjoy your tier lists. Even though I disagree with a few of your selections, I'm very respectful of them. Good day, sir.
The facial hair is lookin good Billy

This guy- foo fighters are alright, b tier
Also this guy- YeAh ThE GoRILaz are GrEAt
Billy doesn't know that Arctic Monkeys made three albums in the 2000's xD
Also, Interpol is missing...
But otherwise, great tier list ;)
fall out boy was DEFINITELY a girlfriend band. the lyricisms is what gets most people it’s really good it’s rlly creative pete wentz is a very talented man but at the same time he also was very out there for the time, being in teen magazines and all that. in heychris’s call out post (an open letter to pete wentz) he even calls out pete for leaving his love for music and replacing it with his love for shtty fashion. pete had a lot to do with the band being categorized how it did

Why do I always think this guy is ARTV lol, then I remember halfway through, oh that’s the Weezer guy
Plastic beach is amazing
14:21 I don’t agree with this. While Fall Out Boy was more just straight pop punk/emo pop, Panic! At The Disco has more influence from other genres. A Fever You Can’t Sweat out had some electronic influence, and Pretty Odd has a very mellow vibe to it. Maybe it’s just because I love them both, but I don’t think their as similar as you say they are.
Also, starting with Save Rock and Roll, FOB’s singer started to sound more unique.
>blink-182 in D tier
yep, my high school butt has been hurt

Imagine not even adding Interpol smhing my head rn now
Yes. That was a crime
Plastic beach is a god their album. You can’t change my mind.
What I have gathered from this video is that Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, and Vampire Weekend are the holy trinity
I might be biased here as they’re my favourite band, but arctic monkeys should be higher
They should at least be A.
The garage rock revival of the 2000s was the best era of rock and no one will change my opinion
Prog rock in the late sixties to late seventies? ITCOTCK, Close to the Edge, Animals, WYWH, etc.
lmao not even close. not even top 2 garage rock eras. the original garage bands of the 60s and 70s had better music. and more modern 2010s garage rock are also better. 2000s 'garage rock revival' had like, what, 5 good bands? get a clue
Billy Cobb: "we're going D for Blink-182 and Papa Roach.
Me: "So you've chosen death"
Coldplay is easily S-tier for me. Everytime I come back to them I find more and more to appreciate, especially with their first 4 albums. I feel they get a bad rap for being too sentimental or whatever, but that's part of why I love them, and because they do that type of music justice.
I’ve never got into them, in fact I really don’t like them at all, but I will always say that they are great musicians, and whilst I don’t like them, I think they get far more hate than they deserve
I would probably put them in A tier if we’re just looking at 2000s output. I wouldn’t put them on the same level as Radiohead or The White Stripes but Coldplay kinda got me into listening to music and Parachutes, Rush of Blood, and Viva La Vida are all great.
for me they are good as a band up until mylo/ghost stories
i don't like their albums after a head full of dreams because i don't dig the pop tunes of the mid-late 2010s but honestly I admire them as musicians and how chris martin is just having fun.
they are overhated and unfairly compared to maroon 5.
Coldplay is one of my most favorite band but I wouldn't put them in S tier. At least A tier for me.
Why yo shadow look like your neck is bent at a 90 degree angle
Linkin Park at A tier is pretty good, maybe pushing A-tier basing it on their 2000s music
Hybrid Theory and THEN Meteora is probably one of the biggest 2 album opener to a career in the 2000s
Honestly as good as their first two albums are, I really liked their stuff after it. Most of that came out in the 2010’s though.
00’s rock is, in my opinion, the best era of rock and music in general.
I think the 90s fills that description, but the 00s are a close second
Fr , the 2000s had a lot of great bands. I still count Qotsa even tho they formed in the late 90s
@@grondstein8147 90’s 60’s and 70’s I’d say we’re more iconic but the 2000s did have its fair share of quality
I'm surprised Shinedown isn't on the list. Even though their first 2 albums weren't incredible, Sound Of Madness is a masterpiece
maybe it's because of my adhd but i felt like the background music was too distracting and loud. why are we listening to the same loop for 21 minutes
