I don't understand the discourse. A DLC was never coming out. It took Rebirth into a 4 year development cycle and they want Part 3 released ASAP. This was very common knowledge
I got the Platinum for Rebirth, hardest part for me was the Hard mode VR fights, you have to be real technical with some of them and set up your Materia and equipment just right. The frog mini game was another tough one but I found a trick for the first stage that helped a lot
Afternoon mate, cheers for all the content. Great channel. edit: My comment was early, I think more games is good thing as long they keep the quality! On mini games I would like split-screen Chocobo racing cause that was really fun and would have loads of replay value with friends. I'm saving hard mode run for when probably cave and get a PS5 Pro.
Seems a little strange that you pull “more linear” out of full airship control, and the part of the original that had the most side content accessible. I’d expect less fluff/slice of life in the story, more plot focus, but that doesn’t mean any compromise on exploration and side content.
Well I mean, he pretty much suggests it could be more linear when talking about not releasing two games that are structured the same back to back. Then he also says they're scaling back on side stuff. Plus the structure of a story generally demands that things tighten up at the end in order to deliver the narratives conclusion. All of that quite clearly suggests Part 3 will be more linear than Rebirth. Maybe not as linear as Remake, but definitely more than Rebirth.
I did think the amount of minigames was a bit overwhelming, but I did enjoy *most* of them. I wouldn't mind for them to scale it back a bit and just focus on the good ones. A more manageable platinum would be nice. There is no way I am getting the platinum for Rebirth. It is disappointing that Rebirth lost out on Ultimate Game of the Year to Wukong at the Golden Joysticks. But we can credit that to all the Chinese voters. I won't be surprised if Rebirth doesn't win GOTY at the Game Awards, but it *should* win.
Getting the platinum trophy is challenging but trust me, there are plenty of TH-cam videos out there that will give you pointers on how to beat most of the challenges. It gets frustrating at times and you have to walk away from the game for a few days, but once you go back and finally beat it, it’s very rewarding. You can do it!
Don't be disheartened. Both part 1 and 2 *exceeded* all of our expectations. Just because part 3 will be more streamlined doesn't mean it won't follow suit.
True. I’m just hoping they don’t cut any corners because of poor SALES performance… because the game is truly a masterpiece. A lot of people don’t appreciate it because it’s not COD or Fortnite 🙄 They raised the bar in Rebirth and I hope part 3 will be equally as mind blowing.
Oh I am 100% ready for it, I think they need to hone in on the narrative they're telling in part 3. I don't think it'll be as linear as Remake, but it'll be nowhere near as open (as far as far ranging activities) as Rebirth. I'm thinking a pseudo world of ruin type situation maybe.

I agree with you on the linearity of the first part, with the big middle part, concluding back towards linearity near the end. I'm okay with less mini games in part 3. Loved the many games in Rebirth, but with a big meteor in the sky and Shinra taking off the gloves with Avalanche, less mini games would make more sense for the story. When are we thinking part 3 point of no return? For symmetry with Rebirth and also so the scenes could be more elaborate and crazy, I wanna say the return to the forgotten capitol when they watch Aerith's death with Bugenhagen. Think of how crazy Midgar Raid could be, or in addition to Under the Highwind, we might see what the other characters are doing.
I platinum'd a few months ago and it's very doable. It's more time consuming than anything and you can't be too proud to look up guides for the Chadley challenges, they'll drive you crazy
Same. And i didn’t mind that it took forever. That’s how a game SHOULD be! There was so much to do and new ways to learn how to fight using different builds. Even now that I’ve gotten platinum, I’m still itching for more. Honestly, the people that complain have ZERO skills or patience. They think they can just play a game and get platinum. The whole point of the platinum trophy is that it’s a difficult achievement 🤦🏽♂️
Didn't they tease the snowboard mini game in Part 2? I think all the Part 2 games from the Gold Saucer will be back, with maybe one or two new ones. Maybe not all of the games, like Mr Dolphin or the Chocobo gliding, or the Mogs.
Yeah we'll definitely be getting Snowboarding, I think the Gold Saucer will be the big focal point of all the side stuff and there'll possibly be less world map based stuff. Depends how they go about it in the end but that feels like the most logical.
Yeah we are. Also you can't really skip anything if you want to try and platinum. Half of the mini games are crap anyways. You're the one crying over lost trash...
I really feel like they are going to do dlc after the 3rd part. Vincent and maybe a recreation of Advent. What I want is Before Crisis stuff in part 3, .... Wutai will be the spot to do it 🫰

But for me I enjoyed them all, and I like that most of them have some story to it. Like Tifa situps. Getting high score on all of them for platinum was a bit much tho. But that was just my choice.
Platinum is pretty hard and time consuming, getting high score in some of the mini games can be very hard, but it is just a matter of learning the routines of the mini game, and it is fine. Some require a bit of luck to, like the Nightmare queens blood. Some of the VR stuff is 10 rounds, and the first 9 bosses are easy, and suddenly the last boss is extremely hard, so you will not get an opportunity to practice since you need to beat the first 9 rounds to get there. Some of them you can breeze through with a cheeze build like infinite ATB quake spam with Yuffie and Aerith. But at other you are just stuck with an avarage build against a really hard boss (zack and cloud vs Odin)
@@Dis2good yeah, but the people who claim it is not hard are wrong. Maybe you are good at QB, or Piano, situps, or VR fights, but to be good at everything? that is hard.

@@Dis2good Dunno. Some platinums are way easier then other. Rebirth was definitly on the harder side. It was really fun tho, NG+ was great. So many hype boss fights.
1:28 it’s really not all that confusing though. Both games, reportedly, sold more than Rebirth so the player base is higher. While it may not be a game we would consider for GotY, the general community who votes on it clearly enjoy their time with it for whatever reason they like and said that with both their wallets and votes.
What I find confusing is how it lost to Helldivers for Console of the Year, but then came above Helldivers in Game of the Year. You can't explain it away with accounting for PC gamers votes either, because Rebirth isn't on PC, whereas Helldivers is. I can only guess that the people who voted for Helldivers in the console category, switched to Wukong for the GOTY category.
@Bastion90 I would say they either switched or skipped the category altogether. Most of Helldivers player base seems to be on console, especially after the issues people had with the requirement to set up a PS account to play and other countries being blocked by that requirement since PSN isn’t available there, while Wukong appeals to both console and PC gamers. It’s also not blocked by the PSN requirement. Wukong also has a deeper player base in the Asian market, especially China, and those markets are becoming more PC heavy than console heavy (especially with the price increases in other countries). Not sure what the breakdown is by country, but wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what carried Wukong for Game of the Year for these awards and possibly the TGA’s. But if you look at pc all time peak for both Wukong and Helldivers 2, Wukong smoked them with 2 million vs less than 500k on PC alone. Even if you look at 24 hr peaks on PC for both, Wukong has had over double the number of players on Steam, showing it’s been more active, though that bump may also be from the awards.
@@patriotsfan122480 I'm not so much surprised that Wukong won over Helldivers since Wukong wasn't in the console category. Just that Helldivers came lower than Rebirth after it beat it in the console category. Like you said, people must have skipped categories. Yeah Hamaguchi has definitely given me hope with these comments, it was hinted at earlier by one of the other devs when they were talking about retiring after Re3.
@@Sector6UK That sucks to hear! It looks like we’ll be in good hands with Hamaguchi. But to see people like Kitase, Nomura, and Nojima leave will definitely be a blow to the quality of work!
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411 exactly, go in either (or preferably both) direction in time, but honestly? Let the OG/Remake cast "retire" right alongside you guys. Don't leave them in the hands of subsequent generations
Platinum isnt hard if you have been parrying the entire game and have materia leveled. You need learn the chadley vr stuff, which is kinda hard, but not the hardest material ever. You dont have to use a guide if you dont mind grinding. Guide will probably save you crazy amounts of time, though. I was hoping some cid or vincent dlc. Games huge so dlc doesnt really need to happen. Big thing is that they deliver part three proper imo. Spoilers ig If you can do the summons on level 5 with cloud solo and parry everything you wont have too many issues with the hardest chadley vr stuff. Just learning the mechanics and using the scan materia is what most people arent willing to do.
The platinum isn't that hard to get, there a lot of tricks to cheese through hard mode. I remember only using the summon to get the Bronze Trophy, I never used them in battles or boss fights. I see a lot of people struggling, depending on your playstyle you have workarounds. If you used Assess in your first playthrough, you can literally lookup the elemental weaknesses and vulnerabilities (should help you for the most part, after that just read the yellow text that helps how to pressure enemies). I actually agree on Rebirth not getting the GOTY-award, it was a good game but not a great game in my opinion (a lot of things could have be done better). Reducing the amount of minigames is good news, in OG there was a concentration in the Gold Saucer. The mushroom plucking, frog jumping, minecart, chocobo catching, running wild, gears and gambits, mog catching, life springs and summon crystals minigame can all be removed for my part. The "No DLC"-comment I don't believe for one second, they said the same with FFXVI and it got a DLC. You can argument that it's a different production team, you'll have to provide a backstory for Cid or Vincent because if you cram this together with all that is left to tell it will hurt the pacing of the story. The easiest DLC to make would be Cid, they already have his fighting style which would be similar to Sonon from Intermission. You have his past with Ifalna that can be explored, his motivations (I think the Shinra Space Program) and how Cissnei met him. Cissnei fights also with a shuriken like Yuffie, oh look we can re-use all the assets from Intermission. You can introduce a new region to explore (Rocket Town) together with some existing regions and provide a Shinra-heli as a means of transportation which could be used as a dry run for the Highwind controls in the 3rd part so you have feedback from the players. You can introduce new gameplay elements like synergized limit breaks or something else, a new summon (Typhoon) and some new minigame.
The platinum is difficult and very annoying I can’t lie. Some of the VR battles are more and about timing and particular setups. I don’t mind tweaking materia setups, but you should still be able to beat the VR challenges by general grinding as well, rather than a trick with Materia. I get a good sense of achievement by beating hard battles by my skill and level too.
Well, the point is to use specific builds so that you can fully utilize/maximize the materia you have. TBH. In my first play through, i didn’t use any magic or synergy abilities. Once i got to hard mode, i had to quickly switch things up because that wasn’t going to work lol. And keep in mind, part 3 will have the Weapons in the game, which are EXTREMELY challenging! I remember in the OG, the fights would take almost an hour because of how strong they were. The VR challenges are preparing you for THAT! Hence why it’s supposed to be difficult and annoying
@@Dis2good yeah I get that, but it becomes more about having the right build that your natural skill as a player. Everyone exploits the Yuffie spam and it becomes too easy. I have no issue with that, but make it so you can also grind a victory the old fashioned way as well.
@@arbeione I think the solo bouts tests your natural skill as a player, for me it improved my skills with certain characters a lot. You just need to get the timing right for perfect block and the solo bouts are actually the best challenges to learn that. The Yuffie spam is in my opinion only useful in 5-round challenge with Virtual Sephiroth, the other challenges you don't need it as a player. Maybe in the last part you can transmute stat boost items and the grinding option will become viable again.
@@arbeione I think you can still do that. It’s really just during those specific challenges whereas you can still play the rest of the game with your natural skill. Once i got platinum, i replayed the game straight through without having to worry about any side quests, and it was a lot more fun because i learned different ways to play. Some bosses that were challenging previously were super easy during my play through.
@@Dis2good I think the VR battles were actually done better in Remake to be honest. Top secrets was a good example. You could use lots of magic to get an easy win, or grind a melee result out to with skill. For me I found that was missing in Rebirth. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the game and think it’s incredible, it’s just a small change I hope they make for part three.
I agree. When will they have time to focus on a Vincent backstory? There isn’t a good place to insert that anywhere. I have a lot of faith that there will be a Vincent backstory where he goes to Lucretia’s Cave.
There will be DLC. They're going to save an announcement for a PlayStation State of Play. Just casually saying there will be DLC doesn't get as much hype as a bombshell announcement.
Make sense to scale things down for the last part. Square Enix now knows it won't sell in the several millions. This remake is easily the most disappointing game(s) in existence. Hyped up since the PS3 era... GOTY? Don't encourage this behavior.
Part 3 will sell way more than Part 2, way more. Its the finished product. People didn't buy Rebirth because the game is not finished and want to wait. Remake and Rebirth sales will grow before the Release of "Reunite"

So i hope they redirect these resources into the main game. With the open world, mini bosses and combat challenges
It's a fair stance, I would argue that a lot of the minigames do add to the game overall, but it's subjective.
While I think Rebirth had a lot of great things about it I also think it had too many bad parts that preclude it from being game of the year
Personally disagree but it's all subjective!
"Other parts of the world"...please guys, please, give us a prequel of the Cetra/Jenova conflict.
That’s what I’ve always hoped for!
Either that, or a game set in the ‘500 Years Later’ with an entire new cast. But with an obvious cameo with Red!
Spoilers ig
If you can do the summons on level 5 with cloud solo and parry everything you wont have too many issues with the hardest chadley vr stuff. Just learning the mechanics and using the scan materia is what most people arent willing to do.
Sweet, I'll smash it out soon on stream!
All rebirth is a dlc fiesta. Why being upset about no dlc 😂
Yeah the whole game is a playground!
I want to get the game ASAP but no Vincent DLC feels like we’ll be missing out. Part 3 is already bloated as it is.
Agreed. They better not save it for the PS6 🤬
They've literally said twice there won't be, unless they're just flat out lying to us then I can't see it.
@@Sector6UK Did you delete my comment? I posted a link to an article.
No but I believe TH-cam holds some comments, especially if they're links etc, lemme check to see if it's been held
No nothing held, TH-cam mustn't like it! lol
Remake and Rebirth sales will grow before the Release of "Reunite"
go play pugb and other no brain no skill games
Hater go play Fortnite. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Adults are talking.
@@Dis2good yea I see your adult response, did you even play game
