Hey I have a question. I have a led samsung. It just stopped working. Sound is there and I flashlight tested and see stuff there. So the back lights arent working. Is it safe to say I need to replace the LEDs? Where can I find the LEDs the model takes?
@@oc9357 Hi, There are several different types individual LED’s for different TV’s. I am think I would like to just replace the individual BAD LED’s. What or where can I fine the correct replacement LED for VIZIO E50x-E1 TV ?
Your repair vids are my favorite. My respect for you has grown, knowing you're confident enough, to not HIDE, that even pros don't always have things go ... perfectly.
Neat video. Nice to know what, exactly, is wrong with my TV. Unfortunately, I lack confidence in my ability to safely disassemble and reassemble my TV :P
To prevent this repair from happening to your LED TV just set your brightness and backlight settings to 50%. If you max out your backlight settings what happens is the LEDs on the LED strip get brittle and crack from the heat.
Tampatec My daughter hit my screen but it not crack on outside it looks like a crack on inside like half of the picture shows and it looks like spider crack inside. Does that mean lcd or is the tv done for? Its a 42 inch sanyo plasm
Great video, and thank you for not editing out the screen drop! We learn from our mistakes, and hopefully from others as well. 😊👍🏻 Oh I was corrected by a grammar nazi years ago, the "L" in solder is silent (WTH?)☺
Hey i just wanted to say thank you, i dont have the same model tv but this video helped me diagnose the issues i was having! so excited to get this fix done, its a 50in highsense smart tv my sister gave me for free so a 50-60 dollar fix is a sweet deal! Again thanks so much!
I like your u tube channel repairs and am fascinated I am learning to do tv and electronic repair but i need some coaching I will keep watching your repairs Thanks
Thanks for that! I have just dismantled a Philips TV, following your instructions. Not sure if my client will invest in the led strips... I used a 24VDC supply for checking the leds, soldering the wires on the test points of each strip.
man that's the exact problem I have... I have the back of the TV off, but I'm terrified to go further. You have much more delicate hands than me...and patience
You seem surprised that it actually worked after you repaired it. Great video by the way. I shared it with my friends kids hopefully they find it really cool to fix things that are broken. Hope to inspire them to set up a small repair shop.
I've never seen inside a LED TV screen before. It was very interesting to watch your video. It was good to see that it worked after the suction holder let you down!
Good video; but also liked the 'Well That Happened' incident with the panel (and you took it well). Being a tech/engineer in a few fields, WTH had us amazed and humored many times.
Hi Paul: To avoid accidental fall of the screen glass, is it possible to work on the TV with the glass side on the table and lift the metal back side up (turn 180 degree) for repair?
tampatech, love the vids! you've stretched my know how in electronics and also teaching. you got a gift brotha! I have one issue tho. I have a kicker zx750.1 mono amp. I have the circuit board exposed for show purposes. I usually have a custom cover but had it off at the time of this incident. I had a lot of water fill up the amp but it's suspended in air so it was draining instantly somewhat. I caught the problem and got it out immediately. the power was not on nor was the vehicle. I have 2 500k power caps right by the amps also. they got wet, but seem unscathed. I immediately took the amps out and blew them out with the air hose. then disassembled them to further dry and inspect. I did the big one first cause it's more valuable. a kicker 700.4. got it reinstalled and works fine. now I did the 750 the next day. got it in and it lights up and produces audio but a green little capacitor on the board buzzes. it's almost a wave effect. slowly gets higher pitched and stops. then restarts. if I grab the amp and twist hard I can make it stop. once I let go it starts up. I've taken it apart now and touched areas that looked suspect with a soldering iron 5x. even replaced the green capacitor which is a 2a102j. I'm stuck and tired. any direction would be much appreciated.
Thanks for vid Tampa! Couldn't help notice number of LG sets that seem to have backlight issues! Maybe LG ought to up there QA processes in that area a bit!
Sphincter test is complete when you dropped the screen. I know another video you give the part number for the LEDs you use could you list a link or bring me a few I'm in east Tampa excellent video BTW Thanks Thommy K
It would make a lot more sense replacing all of the strips and not just the bad LED's. Especially going through all that trouble breaking the tv down to repair it.
Which LEDs would purchase for a 60' LG thats has same issue as this one in video??? But, I have sound, power but no picture!! (SIGHHHHH) Lol Thank you for sharing! This will be a project for my father n law and me!
I get so tired of all these diy people just replacing the whole boards. I love it when someone actually knows, and can demonstrate the board components, where they are, and even include a good link to find them.
How much will it cost to have a tech to come and fixs this problems with my two TV's like this one your fixing cause my second one is almost going out the first one blacked out but both have sounds
Hi Paul... your vids a great, enjoy your style and like to see your son with you as well. Our LG does not go black, the picture screen blanks to a variety of colors. I have photos of it. We unplug to reset, and picture returns. However this is a persistent issue, mutliple times in an hour or day. Any suggestions what it could be or how to fix it?
Nice job, great tutorials. Thanks for your help and insight. IMHO ,If you're a DIYer, and are able to isolate fault down to backlight LED's......I'd replace the strip vs individual LED's. Based upon age and op temp (due to full on backlight) , if one or more in a strip has failed, it's cousins have been stressed as well. You don't want to repeat this process in the near future when another LED fails. Thanks again.
i'm a bench tech at work (yes, we still exist. Our company has been selling stuff since the 60s that still needs SOMEONE to repair it). After fixing a couple LED TVs, the word got out and soon i was inundated with people's bad TVs. Wa-a-a-ay too many to take on in my spare time, and you have to learn how to say "NO!" quickly and firmly.
You suggested that two people doing this job. So when can you be available? Also, rather than replacing diode, how about just replacing strip. I might do strip replacement, but would tackle replacing diode, but I will let you do it, if you would like to help.
Do fix have a tutorial on the Aim LCD TV?. I wanna fix my AIM LCD TV and this tutorial is what i see as best to help me know what om going to go through👌
Did you ever use an LED from a different TV brand to fix the backlight I have a broken strip -- but working LEDs -- from LG TV and I want to remove the LEDs and place them on a SAMSUNG strip.. Thanks for your videos and advice..
I have a tv that's having a similar issue. I heard you mention a type of module since i can see the back light but no picture. Do you have any video related to that issue
Great video. I have an lg tv and I hope it never quits but if it does I will try and fix it because it ain't no good the way it is and if I screw it up I was going to throw it away anyway👍
First of all great content. I have a 65UH5500 (2016). When I power up the TV the screen lights up then goes dark and the red light (power button) flashes 3 times. One long flash and the two shorter ones. I checked the capacitors and they do not show any signs of damage. In addition I could not see any images on the screen when I used a flash light on it in a dark room. However I will say there was a slight odour from the Tcom board area. Any suggestions of what to check next. Once again great channel with very useful tips and information.thanks
I'm sure someone else will have already made this suggestion: use TWO SUCTION PADS, spreads the weight. And it will also allow you to handle bigger screen sizes aswell.
Great video. I have a LG 55ln5600, on power up screen flashes them black. Measured 180v going to led strips then voltage goes down to a steady 84v. Bad led strips?
Thank you fo this video. If I may ask, is it true that once a diode is blown on the powerstage, the entire powerstage is damaged? Can't the component on the power stage be replaced, if the need arises?
Got a dodgy LG TV red light flashes but no picture no sound nothing. It’s had a new power board installed but this did nothing so I’m thinking it’s maybe the TOC board or the mainboard. I think I’ll try a new TOC board as there cheap, if that’s not the fault I’ll try and heat the mainboard in my oven at 180 for around an hour & see if I can get any dry joints re solder’d. Any advice is welcome.
Hi Paul Thank you for the informative videos.. I have an LG UF84.. the standby red led just blinks but doesn't go into start mode. Appreciate your valuable advice on what could the most likely problem be Thanks
Great video!! I have a LG 55LF6000-ub. My screen turns black when it comes on but it flashes the picture which is still a good picture. Thru the screen when flashing there's 1 row in the middle that flashes led lights along with picture. I can use a flashlight and put next to screen and I can barely see the picture. Audio works. Would this be a problem with backlights?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks 😎
Hi Paul. Love your videos. I have a kdl40ex400 and on power up the screen flickers, has a thin red line across the bottom and will eventually black out but still have sound. None of the videos address this condition. What do you think it could be? Thanks in advance.

Exellent video...Got an advice...put some moisture on suction caps, that is insurance for caps not to release display...
This is the best tv repair tutorial on TH-cam, thank you for these repair clips👍👍👍
