Tampatec Hi, any ideas how do we get to order the exact TCON board for our tv model? How to get the part number etc..thanks:) 5:39 I accidentally took out the ribbon cable without unplugging the power cord and immediately put it back again..now there is no picture but backlight.. Moreover, vertical lines is one issue, my Samsung LED d6600 got horizontal lines on the top 1/4th section of panel. Are there any differences between two problems? Thanks..nice detailed video...keepup:)
Tampatec Hey was up from California , great videos I have learned a lot with you , I have a JVC not sure what model but question is (is it possible for inferred on the tv to go bad ) have tried multiple remotes and nothing Thanx a lot and keep on with your great videos
Bri G. everything pretty much can be repaired by just buying new boards it's not like the old vacuum tubes ect...but excellant video content hopefully the days of extremely hi repair bills are a thing of the past but not to worry there's plenty of thrives still out here raping and pilliging, it's odd to find an honest anyone anymore.
Sometimes more than 1 board goes bad on flat screens There are cases where 1 board will take out 2 more boards and be too expensive to repair the set They design this crap to fail after the warrantee expires. Your lucky to get 2 years use out of this new crap. The crt sets from the seventies are still going and still can be serviced without breaking the bank
Wow, one of the BEST videos I've ever seen, and I've seen thousands! Most always leave something out, talk too soft or move things where we can't see, ALWAYS something that leaves me hanging. This was excellent - NICE JOB JIMMY!!!!
Thanks for the video. Thanks to you, I was able to test the T-Con board in my 2007 Vizio VU42L LCD TV. It had a dark screen, sound, back light, and standby light. The voltages were way down on the output side of the board, just like yours. ShopJimmy did not have one. I ordered a board off of eBay for about $14. It arrived today, and went right in. Now, my TV works great again! BTW, it was a free TV. A guy in the neighborhood, upgraded to a Smart TV, and wanted to give this one away. It worked great for the past 8 months, then the screen went dark during Shark Week. I love Shark Week, too. I had a back up TV, but I spent about a week researching TH-cam videos, until I was absolutely sure which board to order. Thanks again, Paul
Thank you - very much for your thoughtfulness in measuring the T-CON Board input and output voltages for us to take note of - this will go a long way in enabling those without circuit diagrams to do fault finding with confidence. Much appreciated indeed. Keep it up.
Thanks for the video. Just replaced my T-Con board on my 37-inch sony tv. Works great now. It is important to order the board using the codes on the board, not just the tv model number. Got it from China 27 dollars delivered. Unbelievable. From Cyprus
Has to be the best tutorial on electronics repair I've seen in a long time good job and thank you for being clear because most of these guys are not thank you for the benefit of your experience
What an AWESOME 2-part video series! Your step by step testing worked to identify the T-CON board as the problem, I ordered through the same vendor on Amazon, and 2 days later it arrived and all is fixed!!! Thank you! a $50 part and some learning saved me from buying a new TV.
Great job, I used to be tv repair engineer years and these new flat screens are totally different from the old crt TVs. So I find this channel very interesting
I ha e the same exact TV, purchased it back in 2008 and still works and using it until this day. I had one issue with it several years ago where I had bad caps. Replaced it with no issues. Has many inputs and works great with retro gaming. Rf,svideo, components and two hdmi. Can't complaint. Too bad new tv today doesn't come with any of those inputs. Great video by the way. Happy holidays.
Well explained. Thanks. It makes a change to hear a clear solution for this problem. And yes, I have now ordered a T-Con board for my Sony Bravia and look forward to installing it. Greetings - mike
Good clear instructions...Don't work on TV's but mine just started, sound no pic, then went totally dead, so I looked and found this gent and am glad I did....My thanks tot gent that made it.
thanks for showing this video I'm electronic grad. also but when we moved here in USA many years ago I started cleaning tables in a restaurant to pay our bills... but now we are ok now I want to go back in electronics again and this kind of videos help me a lot...so thanks..
I saved two TVs from the dumpster this week, 42” Samsung plasma and a 25” Tecnika LCD, luckily both p/s boards with bad caps. Quite pleased with myself.
Thank you mate . You are an amazing teacher. I love your tutorials. They are so educational and you are a great teacher. Cheers my man. Keep these videos going.
Thank you for the info. Do the T con board number matter or any T con board can work with a Tv. I have Sharp 50 inc, no sound no picture need your duration. Thanks
You are a very smart young man and informative too.. this is the second video that I've ever watched a few and I think it's nice that you learned all this..... I watched your video about putting codes in a Sharp TV.. I'm still having trouble but I'm working on it.. thank you so much for your time..🖥👍
Love the videos and think all the trash from my tower alone is enough to keep a shop going .... I appreciate the knowledge ... and mother nature is smiling
I'm curious how you knew what the voltage values should be at each contact point? Access to a schematic? All standardized? Thanks, I like the videos. I'm learning a new skill. Driving airplanes isn't enough of a skill-set.
Picked up this as a pass time hobby, Like to know also what voltages should be, is this standard for all tv’s. Been watching your vids for awhile now most are very informative.
Excellent video. I like all of them, very instructive> Do not pay too much attention to your critics, they for sure know a lot less than you and do not take their time to help others like you do.Go on with your good work. We need you and people like you. Thanks,
Not sure if you ever found out over the last 2 years, but thermal pads themselves don't add much to cooling potential. Ventilation and Surface Area are key. What you should use is adhesive heat sinks. Great videos btw!
I worked at a tv repair shop when I was in high school...way,way back in the "old school" 1960`s when we had to contend with horizontal output transformers and picture tubes remaining charged with thousands of volts long after the sets being turned off.....today`s HDTV`s look much less threatening to service.... :-)
I have plasma Samsung TV for 8YRS and the screen start showing red dots and i watch this video luckily i got TV, only the screen was broken and i replace that small board and the TV is 100% okay no red dots ,it was really helpful thanks good work.
I have a 51' Samsung plasma television. I have a several horizontal lines going across the screen. Is it an easy inexpensive fix, or should I just purchase another television? Thank you for your help.
When you checked out the voltages on the tcon board, how did you know if it was giving you the correct voltage? Is there somewhere that shows what these voltages should be? Love your videos, keep them coming.
Enjoyed all of your videos and have previously said so. I too, would like to know how you knew what the voltages should have been, in this video specifically? Thanks.
Thank you TampaTec, you have given me a starting point on where to look with my multimeter. I have that exact tv which after some time the picture turns black. I've actually learned from you. Thanks, my like and subscription is in👍
Always good videos. I am in Canada and any knowledge of tv repair I have is from videos like yours .Thank you for sharing your gift of knowledge and experiences.
Thanks, just like going to seminars in the past. At 60 my eyes are going bad and soldering is harder to do, changing ic's for us old techs is problem. still, getting examples and test voltages is great.

samsung plasma model#PN50A450P1D horizontal lines on TV can you give me a step by step on how to fix this I love technology and want to learn this Talent thank you
Hi. M UN65MU8000 has distorted colors. I seen your videos and, I think it has to do 8th Tcom board. I had a battle with Samsung on the phone. First they said it was a software problem and I didn’t have the correct one installed. So they sent me a usb drive with the ‘’Right software... I installed it, but it didn’t work. I called again and this time they sent a one connect box, but didn’t work either. I was very upset and demanded a solution and, after threatening me with charging me if a technician sent by them could found any damage on the tv, because (according to them) the warranty should be canceled, the technician visited me, took a look and confirmed how bad it was. He, then left after giving me a receipt with not much details. Samsung never called to inform about the next step. Called them a week later to find out what was going on. They apologized, but told me that the technician found scratches on the screen, so the warranty was canceled. I told them there was no bleeding so the problem didn’t have to do with that and I was not asking them to replace my tv, but fix it. They denied me further service at all.
Excellent video, i appreciate your willingness to share such valuable information. I have a LG 32LB520B WHEN PLUG UP TV TURNS ON IMMEDIATELY BUT ONLY TOGGLES THRU RED, BLUE, GREEN, WHITE SCREEN. CAN NOT TURN TV OFF WITH REMOTE OR BUTTONS ON SIDE OF TV. THANKS!!!
I have a question for you. My LG has an issue where the menu keeps popping up for no reason over and over again. No buttons are pressed on the remote and it automatically just keeps coming back. what can I do to repair this issue?
Sean Moran I’m an electronics engineer working with microcontrollers. In our field it would be vitality important to know the voltage between boards, if not the actual waveforms on an oscilloscope. This would only give you a rough idea of which boards might not be working (once you worked out the power supply was ok !).
Thanks for this deep troubleshooting, I have 75' Vizio flat screen with three busted capacitor in the power board, I replaced the 3 capacitor but the TV will still not come on though the capacitors rating was 68uf 450 but I was able to get 47uf 450 to replace them but still not working no single light anywhere
Again Excellent presentation, your trouble shooting skills are AAA+, And your greatest attribute is you Share your knowledge base with very skillful rational, Hope your getting a little$$$ out of your gifts.
One of the most helpful videos ever. Have a qe55 8k Samsung tv that reboots when warm . Tried 4 of every board . Stops restarting when any one of panel ribbons from t-con board disconnected. Have 3 TVs the same symptoms . Can't find any schematics or code to get into engineering settings . Checked caps on buffer boards and psus . Any ideas please ?
Hey Tampatec can i ask , i have a asus monitor that when i start up my pc or anything connected to it has 3-4 black lines horizontally across it , which disappear after 5-6 minutes of use , if i power it off after those lines have disappeared and i power it on within the next minutes there won't be any lines, but if i power it after 10+ minutes they are back and need time to fade away again. What can be causing this and how can i fix it?
My seiki flat screen only shows pic while guide is on.when I exit guide,it turns off but comes back on after a few seconds, only on guide.what can I do to fix this ?
Thanks for the tutorial it's very useful, I have sky worthy tv 55" no picture but I can hear sound and backlight is okay. Help with possible solution to fix it.
Toshiba 39L1350U contrast shot up to max on all sources adjusting contrast down helps but odd color is present on vibrant colors the system menu looks like a negative photo. My thoughts are solarization? the question I have is if the T-Con board is built into the main board as all I can find for this model are a power supply board , main board, connector cables and LED strips and ty for your time
"If you have voltage on ground you have something shorted to ground..." Actually, if you have voltage on a ground pin, that is a floating ground. Most likely, one of the screws that mounts the board is loose, or a ground wire broke off. Other than that, great video.
If your table isn't grounded and you put 12V to ground, all ground points will read 12V. It can be read either way. If you ground the chassis then you are correct. Most TV repairs are done without a grounded chassis.
Luv ur vids. I have a LG 43um7000pla that's has a black screen, when I pull out the right output the picture shows on half the TV. Try the tape method an can't seem to find the pin. Could it be the main board? Thanks
Ur a very Kool guy u sure know about I have a LG 65 smart tv the Pic is great just on the fight side there is a 2 inch Line from top to bottom I changed the tcom board I can't figure it out hope u can help ty
I just picked up a almost free 60" Vizio Led Smart Tv Model M601D-A3. The tv will show very little diaplay here and there and the display is like lagging or distorted. You will have to wait a bit for the tv to focus in and display the words No Signal. I have nottest with my meter but I think it might be the T-Con board too so I already have one order and coming this Friday.
Great Video! I have a LG 47LD520 that takes forever to come on, but when it does it works great. I looked at the board but the capacitors look ok. What do you think it could be?
Your channel is awesome. I had power surge from lighting and my Vizio would television wouldn't turn on. I was going to replace it but after watching some of your videos and a parts order from shopjimmy.com i replaced the main board and we're back in business.
Great video! My vision has dark spots or areas on it. I still can watch it but it poor quality. I hope I can fix it sometime soon. Busy with a kitchen remodel right now...
I don't how to use a multimeter tester so I mess up the t-con but before I couldn't see the whole picture of my un one side was darker I'm going to order a new t-con hopefully that solve the problem on my tv great videos thanks
Thanks for all your great help. Videos are awesome. Have an LG model 47LE 8500-UA led / lcd screen that has no pic what so ever. Power's up with front logo and lighted switches and audio chime, with either remote or tv buttons but No screen images at all. Replaced main power board, with no change. Any ideas?
Thanks for the info! My 65" MiTV is not showing any picture but the backlight is working. I measured the VGH and VGL voltage, both are fluctuating. Is changing the T-con board the right way to go?
Thank you for this video seriously!! I was given a VIZIO M55-C2 without remote but she claims the screen was shot accidentally by a B.B. gun I have vertical and horizontal lines everywhere...but no damage or punctures to the original screen
Subscribed and thumbs up. Sony Vaio VGN-SR590, half screen vertical lines good picture from external vga output port. I ask if this is a non-repairable LCD failure or a known fault with this series Vaio that I can repair? 85.00 for new LCD. Thanks for your work.
Thank you for all your repair information. I have a Vizio e701i-a3. It will come on and show an excellent picture and sound for about 5 to 10 minutes. Then it will start to flicker and after 2 to 3 minutes of flickering the picture goes off but the sound is still there. I can look closely and still see the picture inside the screen. It does this for all inputs and menu. Should I start with t-con board replacement or what do you suggest?
My 70-inch Vizio plays good when you first turn it on but then it'll pop and go off read online still on but I won't have a picture or Sam I can turn it off and turn it back on and it plays good for 5 or 10 minutes that the same thing
Thank you for taking the time make your videos I changed my Y buffer board on a plasma Samsung PN50A450P1DXZA but still have only sound no picture but the difference is on the top their tiny white lines before it was just black screen can it be my x main how do I test it
Hi sir. Very informative and intresting. I have an TCL LED55E5900 4k smart tv that has a problem since yesterday. It has sound and all inputs works. The problem is as follow... Low brightness specially on left side, Red color has become yellow, Green vertical lines partly on both sides. Ghosting/blurry/duble picture with slow refresh rate, very difficult to read meny. I have tried soft and hard reset and a few light smacks around the backside with no result. Most likely the t-con board right?
fantastic man!... you're awesome...but would tell us if there's any way to just troubleshoot the faulty board itself and just fix it or no we just have to change the whole thing with a new one !?
Hey, nice video, I have a question though, do all lcd tvs come with a TCON board? I have a Sankey CLCD-3261 but I can't seem to locate any TCON board, can you do me a favour n pull up an image of the model on google n see if there's any such board in there. thanks
Hi bro pleasant hello I love your videos the're very educational keep up the good work..well I have a Westinghouse tv model LD 2480 & its working great but recently I notice a single blue vertical line appear in the background of the screen picture then a few days after another blue line appears then now a green line has appeared..the T-con board is not replaceable it has the screen ribbon cables factory sealed to it, & also the cables are all fine none of it is loose..so I would appreciate if you could advice if maybe the main ic on the T-con board is probably going bad?? Thank you in advance!!
you seem like a pro hopefully you can help i have a lg lg 39ln5300 no picture but theres glow and it sounds great i changed the tcon and still the same heres the catch after a few minutes the screen start showing some lines and i cant find the solution any idea what could be wrong?? thanks i appreciate it
Happy New Year 2017 - The video was very helpful- I asked you a while ago about my led TV- I turned up the brightness 50 I turned up contrast 55 the back light i turned up to 65 it's working for me at first by defult back light was set to 80%
Very informative, I have an older Techwood LCD that developed a power supply fault, I managed to obtain a complete working chassis except the TCon board, All powers up fine, But the picture is dark (mostly red & blue) with "ghostly shadows" don't know if its the screen gone u/s or the TCon panel. Will certainly check the test points.

Replacing the tcon would be the easiest thing ever. A lot simpler than soldering a flat flex cable.

@SLICK8116 I can prove that I did your mum last night.
Did you watch the video? Take screws out of back cover remove flat cables from board and remove screws. Then reverse order and done. Easy

How do you know what the voltage specs are supposed to be on each testpoint?

vertical lines = easy fix, horizontal lines = hard expensive fix
Nothing a new display panel won't fix. Samsung plasma panels for the most part were crap.

‘’Right software...
I have fixed my Sharp lc-60lx565h by change my t-con board with only 100 dollar, I check I have 12v input and no output at all. thanks to this channel

My screen is black should I try replacing t con board?? I have audio just no picture
Walmart has it for 12 bucks
Very well done, real clarity on the presentation, woo hoo
How do you know the proper voltage at each test point?
i dont think the actual voltage is as important as the voltages being constant. But i have no real understanding
You the man!! Thanks!!📺
Again Excellent presentation, your trouble shooting skills are AAA+, And your greatest attribute is you Share your knowledge base with very skillful rational, Hope your getting a little$$$ out of your gifts.
Thanks very much for your videos, I am interested in them.
I have Toshiba TV and the screen is blniking on and off anyone know how to fix that..?? Let me know..

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Why are there different voltages for each of your test points?
Did that work for you?
You sir inspire me. Thank you.
Thank you, you explain everything so well. This video about voltages is very helpful and informative. Well done.
Awesome! I now have a a place to start to repair my LG Plasma TV! Thanx Dude!
Very helpful!!!!! Tampatec makes fixing your tv easy.... Thank you
Subscribed and thumbs up. Sony Vaio VGN-SR590, half screen vertical lines good picture from external vga output port. I ask if this is a non-repairable LCD failure or a known fault with this series Vaio that I can repair? 85.00 for new LCD. Thanks for your work.
This channel belongs into my subs-list 👍
Excellent video construction.
Nice video you are a good instructor
Thank you in advance!!
you seem like a pro hopefully you can help i have a lg lg 39ln5300 no picture but theres glow and it sounds great i changed the tcon and still the same heres the catch after a few minutes the screen start showing some lines and i cant find the solution any idea what could be wrong?? thanks i appreciate it
Great how to videos. Makes me thinking about starting a new hobby.
You are a good teacher!
Great stuff. Very informative, particularly the use of the test pads and voltages (for a noob like me)
Happy New Year 2017 - The video was very helpful- I asked you a while ago about my led TV- I turned up the brightness 50 I turned up contrast 55 the back light i turned up to 65 it's working for me at first by defult back light was set to 80%
Excellent like all of your videos.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR VIDEOS.
Thanks, I do answer hundreds of comments free of charge, see my other how to videos.
you are upstanding teacher.
I would have checked the decoupling capacitors on the board! I haven't done many TV.s / Screens but hope to learn! thanks for posting this!
