Hi, any ideas how do we get to order the exact TCON board for our tv model? How to get the part number etc..thanks:)
5:39 I accidentally took out the ribbon cable without unplugging the power cord and immediately put it back again..now there is no picture but backlight..
Moreover, vertical lines is one issue, my Samsung LED d6600 got horizontal lines on the top 1/4th section of panel. Are there any differences between two problems?
      Thanks..nice detailed video...keepup:)

Bri G. everything pretty much can be repaired by just buying new boards it's not like the old vacuum tubes ect...but excellant video content hopefully the days of extremely hi repair bills are a thing of the past but not to worry there's plenty of thrives still out here raping and pilliging, it's odd to find an honest anyone anymore.

Sometimes more than 1 board goes bad on flat screens There are cases where 1 board will take out 2 more boards and be too expensive to repair the set They design this crap to fail after the warrantee expires. Your lucky to get 2 years use out of this new crap. The crt sets from the seventies are still going and still can be serviced without breaking the bank

I ha e the same exact TV, purchased it back in 2008 and still works and using it until this day. I had one issue with it several years ago where I had bad caps. Replaced it with no issues. Has many inputs and works great with retro gaming. Rf,svideo, components and two hdmi. Can't complaint. Too bad new tv today doesn't come with any of those inputs. Great video by the way. Happy holidays.

Thanks for the video. Thanks to you, I was able to test the T-Con board in my 2007 Vizio VU42L LCD TV. It had a dark screen, sound, back light, and standby light. The voltages were way down on the output side of the board, just like yours. ShopJimmy did not have one. I ordered a board off of eBay for about $14. It arrived today, and went right in. Now, my TV works great again! BTW, it was a free TV. A guy in the neighborhood, upgraded to a Smart TV, and wanted to give this one away. It worked great for the past 8 months, then the screen went dark during Shark Week. I love Shark Week, too. I had a back up TV, but I spent about a week researching TH-cam videos, until I was absolutely sure which board to order.
    Thanks again, Paul

Hi. M UN65MU8000 has distorted colors. I seen your videos and, I think it has to do 8th Tcom board. I had a battle with Samsung on the phone. First they said it was a software problem and I didn’t have the correct one installed. So they sent me a usb drive with the
‘’Right software... I installed it, but it didn’t work. I called again and this time they sent a one connect box, but didn’t work either. I was very upset and demanded a solution and, after threatening me with charging me if a technician sent by them could found any damage on the tv, because (according to them) the warranty should be canceled, the technician visited me, took a look and confirmed how bad it was. He, then left after giving me a receipt with not much details. Samsung never called to inform about the next step. Called them a week later to find out what was going on. They apologized, but told me that the technician found scratches on the screen, so the warranty was canceled. I told them there was no bleeding so the problem didn’t have to do with that and I was not asking them to replace my tv, but fix it. They denied me further service at all.

Sean Moran I’m an electronics engineer working with microcontrollers. In our field it would be vitality important to know the voltage between boards, if not the actual waveforms on an oscilloscope. This would only give you a rough idea of which boards might not be working (once you worked out the power supply was ok !).

"If you have voltage on ground you have something shorted to ground..." Actually, if you have voltage on a ground pin, that is a floating ground. Most likely, one of the screws that mounts the board is loose, or a ground wire broke off. Other than that, great video.

    • @natesiegwart1264
      @natesiegwart1264 4 ปีที่แล้ว

If your table isn't grounded and you put 12V to ground, all ground points will read 12V. It can be read either way. If you ground the chassis then you are correct. Most TV repairs are done without a grounded chassis.

Awesome video that gives me something new to look at as I continue to diagnose and hopefully fix my GHOSTING problem. I suspect my issue is the bonded ribbon cables to the LCD, but this gives me something to check with the T-CON. AWESOME. Only thing I would add would be where to look for what those test point voltages should be. They seem widely varied. It's not clear if you are just looking for floating voltages (unstable) or a specific voltage at a test point. Especially since you had something like zero or 0.80vdc on a test point and that seemed to be OK. Is this info in a service manual? If so, where would I look for that manual?
Thanks for sharing!!! I appreciate your contribution and helping me diagnose and fix my malfunctioning Samsung ln46a650a1fxza!! Have any videos on the bonded ribbon cables that connect to the LCD?

Thanks, just like going to seminars in the past. At 60 my eyes are going bad and soldering is harder to do, changing ic's for us old techs is problem. still, getting examples and test voltages is great.

My Samsung LCD TV UA40D5000 model with vertically shifted double image. Based on other videos in you tube, I tried to break certain connections between tcon output and the panel using thin plastic shim. It was not helped at all but all the sudden it became worst. Now the right side of the screen stuck with alternate total black and random colours vertical strips. The left part of the screen is still having the double image.
I don't want to spent money on new tcon board if there is possiblity of shorted panel.
What you think the problem is?

I saved two TVs from the dumpster this week, 42” Samsung plasma and a 25” Tecnika LCD, luckily both p/s boards with bad caps. Quite pleased with myself.

Very informative, I have an older Techwood LCD that developed a power supply fault, I managed to obtain a complete working chassis except the TCon board, All powers up fine, But the picture is dark (mostly red & blue) with "ghostly shadows" don't know if its the screen gone u/s or the TCon panel. Will certainly check the test points.

Your videos never fail to amaze me. Thanks a lot. I have a dead LCD TV at home. After switching it on, first the red standby indicator glows. then after a few seconds the blue indicator glows. At this point, the TV display would turn on. But the screen never powers up. Could the problem be with the power supply or the motherboard? I assume the TCON circuit is intact... what do you think?

I just picked up a almost free 60" Vizio Led Smart Tv Model M601D-A3. The tv will show very little diaplay here and there and the display is like lagging or distorted. You will have to wait a bit for the tv to focus in and display the words No Signal. I have nottest with my meter but I think it might be the T-Con board too so I already have one order and coming this Friday.
