“Courage is a heart word. The root of the word courage is cor - the Latin word for heart. In one of its earliest forms, the word courage meant "To speak one's mind by telling all one's heart." Over time, this definition has changed, and today, we typically associate courage with heroic and brave deeds. But in my opinion, this definition fails to recognize the inner strength and level of commitment required for us to actually speak honestly and openly about who we are and about our experiences -- good and bad. Speaking from our hearts is what I think of as "ordinary courage.” ― Brené Brown

I found the same quote too, looking for derivation -- had first remembered French "coeur" (heart), & apparently "courage" is derived from Latin "cor" via Old French. (Richard Coeur de Lion: Richard the Lionheart.) Encouragement is heartening... Found "core rage" association a bit odd, even though "core" is a similarly hearty word.

The essence of this talk: "The two part process of cultivating courage is acting boldly while interacting politely. That's the highest spiritual path of mastery." So very true. I've been working on this for several years and have gotten pretty good at it, rarely do people get under my skin anymore or precipitate a reaction in me that I later regret, but this talk really helped drive the point home because before, I felt like I was doing the right thing but it felt a little fuzzy and unfocused. Now I have the clarity and focus. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Ive been listening to Matt for years now. There were times in my journey where the winds and storms of the darkness of night would crash and nearly topple over my small boat that sailed the unsure seas of conscious reality. In those moments of night, seemingly unending as time expanded from within, small lights began to shine from far off in the distance. These lights began to guide my soul craft amidst the stormy seas toward a safe harbor. Matt was one of these lights. Im not really sure who or what I would be without people of compassion like Matt. From my heart to everyone here, I love you and thanks for making the world a better place.
