Excellent lecture!! I believe as a nurse, that we are responsible for not only protecting our patients from suicide/self harm, but physiological/physical, mental/psychological relapse as well!! Bravo!!
Im on day 4 of my methadone treatment, im so happy i went and found help. I was using fentanyl pills, popping 12-15 pills everyday. 2-4 pills every 1-2 hours. For anyone wondering if you end up going through withdrawals when you start, short answer is (MAYBE) as for myself i started off with 40mg and i had NO WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS! I could not believe it! And this morning i went up in dosage, now im on 55mg and j feel great. I wish i would have gotten help way sooner. And i didnt wait to hit rock bottom or wait to overdose to find help thank god. My wifr and lil sister are my biggest supporters and i wouldnt have gotten clean if it wasnt for them. If your struggling with addiction, no matter how far you are into your addiction.. just gi find help now. Dont wait any long. You body, mind AND YOUR WALLET will thank you! I pray for everyone whose ready to get help. 🙏
Thank you so much for sharing your journey and for offering hope and encouragement to others who might be struggling. It’s incredible that you took that step to find help before things got worse-sometimes it takes a lot of courage to reach out before hitting rock bottom, but you did it, and that’s something to be really proud of. It’s also amazing that you found the right dose quickly and are feeling good without withdrawal symptoms. Everyone’s path is different, so it’s encouraging for others to hear that starting methadone can be smooth for some. Your story shows that there’s no need to wait until things get unbearable-recovery is possible at any stage, and support can make all the difference. Having your wife and sister by your side must be such a strong source of motivation and comfort. It’s clear how much they care about you, and it’s beautiful to see how that love is fueling your recovery. I appreciate you watching the video and I’d be grateful if you were to share what you found most useful from it. Thank you for sending such a positive and inspiring message. Your words could be exactly what someone else needs to hear to take that first step toward getting help. Wishing you continued strength and health on your journey-you’ve got this!
Long term yes, some of us take so, so long to accept (or get) that, even if we get it in theroy from day 1. Dopamine distortions have us addicts at a disadvantage I have heard over and over, as the root of addicton from upper, downers all around. What a run down of the drug classes Dr! Mental health is at the foreground, not the background of addicton. I was diagnosed BPD, and there were many issues well prior to substance use.
I run a small community based organization in Uganda and I guess this can help me. Heroin is a silent killer in our country because people don't know much about it.
@@DocSnipes Thanks! Yes, we are discussing that. She has started me on Lamictal 25 mg as a mood stabilizer, which is working great for that purpose. I am thinking that Naltrexone or maybe an anti-androgen would help me. Have an appointment next week.
This video was meant to identify current FDA approved therapist. Antidepressants are not currently listed as an FDA approved treatment for addiction. They are very useful in treating concurrent issues such as depression and anxiety. In my other videos on co-occurring disorders, I often comment on that. ajp.psychiatryonline.org/doi/10.1176/appi.ajp.2019.19121284
@@DocSnipes ok thanks. your video's are really good I've watched a lot of them btw. I have found that an anti depressant actually works well for the PAWS stage, just not acute withdrawal though. Just my experience of course. Will read that article have recommended.

Thanks for watching from Uganda. I hope the video is helpful.
How can we access this kind of therapy as an NGO?
Do you have any experience with patients using medications for sex addiction?
Thank you so much for watching? Have you talk to your doctor to find out if medication might benefit your case?

Not enough people have watched this...
I totally agree!
I fell asleep listening to this
very good, but can't believe you never touched on the role of anti depressants at all. That was disappointing
