Sometimes I stop to wonder about why some Sonic fans make rom hacks where they change the palettes to ugly ones, they change the musics to atrocious ones and make some random level design where there are no top/middle/bottom paths in Sonic. Like, do they not know what makes Sonic great? Oh and also another crime is when people put Sonic's Sonic 3 sprite in the older games where the sprite doesn't fit at all because of the different art style.
I remember playing this years ago. Very challenging, especially how Emerald Hill was crazy fast on the enemies and boss. Was surprised no one took the cut I discovered at 2:22 where you go to the right, do a high jump on the monkey and skip to the right. Either way, very impressive run. I also remember you doing the Extra Version (Time Attack) after experimenting with my run I used to have.
P much all of the Master Edition hacks have some screwed up music lol Funny story, the dev actually replied to one of my comments criticizing the music years back. It was on a playthrough of one of the Master Edition hacks. I forget what they said but it probly didn’t make them look very good lol U don’t need music theory knowledge to pitch shift well but u should have a half-decent ear going into it. It’s smth u can do based on ur feelings. Otherwise, I either wouldn’t bother and keep the music the same or just use music from other games Edit: it was on a video posting the music for S3&K Master Edition 2 Flying Battery Act 1 (I said it was one of the more listenable tracks but the OST overall had more bad tracks than good) and the dev said they made the music that way on purpose to make it more intense. Like a year after that, someone said the music was edited w/ a hex editor or smth ??? w/e that is. I mean I don’t get genesis hacking stuff, I’ve never hacked anything, but was this the only option? Anyway, i don’t think that makes them look any better. I understand the intent but it feels like they did whatever w/ the music w/ no regard for how it’d sound. There’s a big difference between music that makes u feel tense & straight up cacophony, ya kno? Severely out of tune music can b intense but it’ll always b for the wrong reasons As for the TAS, good stuff, as usual
Always when I see metropolis stage I wonder, why... Why Vega took the most annoying stage and made it worse than it was in the original, but I have to say this hack is a masterpiece in terms of difficulty.
Someone made a version of Sonic 2 for S2 masters on the sega genesis If emulators are you're thing use something like kega fusion 364 or Bizhawk or BlastEm
