@@HistoryTheGreat-ib2rf They had a hard time getting new territories to assimilate into roman laws and culture. They tried adopting the areas religions to match their goals early, Claudius mentions it in his journal about Octavia. I think over a few hundred years they decided to stop fighting the Christians and adopt the religion as a state religion.The true power and control of the empire ended up in the Vatican.
@@blairs6664 I see. Nobody really knows what's hidden under and in the Vatican. In some ways, the Roman Empire legitimized itself for us today, by eventually chosing Christianity.
