Agree. Also, avoid people who shame you for your failures or for things that were out of your control. Most toxic relationships comes from people who touch old unhealed childhood wounds and those are guilt and shame.

i try my best in whatever goal i'm after. if i didn't reach a goal from my best effort, then i decide it wasn't meant to be. i can comfort myself by knowing that at least i tried.
the tough part is when i slip up and don't try my best - then fail (procrastination, ignoring deadlines). i feel guilty that i should've done more. that guilt, shame, and regret is hard to get over. but i tell myself i can't change the past, i can only learn from what mistakes i've made, and try my best again in the future.
so i guess my negative feelings around failure don't come from failure, they come from my own judgement of my effort.

in my case it is slightly different but similar and this video completely applies to me, thank you very much! I am often scared of 1)breaking something (or hurting somebody), 2)not being able to fix it myself, 3)the damage being irreversible, so nobody else could fix it either.
i would label my feeling as guilt rather than shame. The anxiety developed in my 40ies but i can track it back to my childhood.

Plus it is a kind of empathic projection and feeling the imagined pain of the broken thing

This is a very interesting perspective. I think you nailed it. I need to noodle on this for a while, and examine every aspect of my life with this in mind.
    Thank you.
