Cora Mullis sadly I did mean to say whiteish. In the only shop around here I can't find silver yarn so I'm stuck with using whiteish greyish or cream yarn ^^;.I know what the colors of my house are XD I'm a slytherin for years now ^^
Oh, that's unfortunate. Are you able to order some silver yarn at all? It might be worth it to wait until you get something you know you'll love. Especially if you are new to knitting, it'll be a big time investment and it'd be terrible if you aren't completely happy with the final product after all that work. If not though, the whitish grey is probably going to be closest.
Cora Mullis I don't know any shops and my mum alone isn't really fond of getting me yarn. she always says I won't finish it anyway so I'm gonna stick with the closest yarns I can get ^^ I'll be happy enough because I'd be done by myself. thanks for concern anyway
I have now made four scarves using this pattern. Three were gifts. 2-Gryffindor, 1-Hufflepuff and 1-Ravenclaw. Thank you so much for sharing this. You're a gem!
Easy peasy! Thanks a lot! I'm so excited! I'm a beginner and this is my first circular needle project for my hubby in his favorite colors. If it turns out good (looking like it will), I'm gonna make one for each our kids too.
Wonderful! You may wish to cast on fewer stitches for the little ones, as they don't need it quite so wide... and it'll knit up faster for you! Good luck and have fun! Love your TH-cam name!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! This is exactly what I needed to know for adding fringe because I've been wanting to make a Harry Potter scarf for myself for the longest time! Just need to afford the yarn 😧 But thank you so much for doing this really!
the fringe technique is So simple and clever, I love it. I have never knitted in a round needle, but I kinda want to try bc this pattern looks so good.
Thank you SO MUCH for this amazing tutorial!!! I just finished my Gryffindor scarf; my first knitting project EVER! The links in the description were so helpful. I am so thrilled to learn more and start my next project!!!! Thank you!!!!
I'm looking forward to trying this one. I'm getting married in July and my maid of honour is a huge HP fan (as am I!) This will be a thankyou gift for her (in Slytherin colours of course)
My friend is a huge fan of Harry Potter and I’m trying to get her a teddy bear with the Hufflepuff scarf (for secret Santa) but I figured I can make the scarf and sew it onto the teddy bear. So thank you very much
Great job! I made my daughter in law a Harry Potter scarf last Christmas. I was to lazy to knit it in the round and did 1X1 ribbing to mimick stockinette on both sides. Your version is more authentic I think. Looks good!
Hi, Jeannine! Great to see you again. Thanks so much! Lots of variations on the Harry Potter scarf, and they're always recognizable and put a smile on people's faces!
I’ve been following this tutorial but I’ve been doing the later years scarf but a thing that I’ve been doing without having all those strands to weave in is to not cut off the extra working yarn until the last time you need it. And depending on how big your yarn ball is you can just stick the other ball off yarn inside the scarf to move it out of the way. Just a tip to anyone :)
I started knitting about 3 months ago, and learned so much from you. Thank you for your guidance! When you posted this video, right before Halloween, I knew I needed to make this scarf for my friend. I enjoyed it so much, that I decided to make a Hufflepuff one for myself. They are pretty amazing and will keep our necks warm, in this cold and dark place we call home...Wisconsin!
I've been selling these for a little while on etsy (different needles sizes and pattern) but I've been going crazy trying to figure out how to hide the color change jog! thank you for this technique!
OMG! I just finished a hufflepuff scarf for a friend. I made it considerably longer (almost to the floor long) and made the stripes larger but followed the techniques from your video. Took me 3 weeks and now i can finally give it to him. :D I really uped my knitting game all thanks to your wonderfull videos. Thank you for posting. Can't wait for my next project ♡
I would do this but I already have a Gryffindor scarf my aunt got me for Christmas. She knows that my fave house is Gryffindor and also it is my house. I've taken a lot of quizzes including the Pottermore one. This was fun to watch even if I'm not making it. I also have the Hogwarts badge on mine, just a bit different.
Thank you for this pattern! While in FL at the Wizarding World of HP I got dozens of compliments on my Gryffindor scarf. I was there in January so I was happy to have a scarf, it was a little chilly.
Making a Ravenclaw scarf and have been using this pattern and video to help me along! Been taking advantage of this quarantine (thanks covid19) to pick up my hobby of knitting again. Thanks for the great vid!
Like alot. Will link to you my own creation of a Hogwarts scarf, in my house colours of Ravenclaw; using the circular needles technique as my debut. started early in the summer & finished a few weeks back, didn't bothered sew the loose ends from the insides, but had plan of wash scarf by hand. It's now long & cosy and look forward to wear in a chilly London day out. 🤗⚡
I first bought the wool then figured I'd wing it. Subscribed to you via email and couldn't believe my luck when this pattern came up for free. Thank you so much.
Love this video! This is the time I've ever tried knitting in the round and this was very helpful. Is it possible to carry up the different colors rather than having to weave them in? I know that you have a video on how to carry up too. Thanks :)
OK so I'm a huge fan of harry potter and I love this video that you have made of the harry potter scarf I am so going to try and recreate this thanks so much
That amazing scarf, my nephew use to love Harry Potter, but he is not with us now 😢 he passed away 12 months ago and I am just starting to knit again cuz I had very bad hand and I had surgery as well, now it all better so I can knit again 👍🏻☺️ I having some thoughts I love to make Harry Potter scarf for his memories, yur video really helps a lot 👍🏻☺️
I knitted myself a Ravenclaw scarf, in the true house-colours of Dark-Blue & Bronze (well i use a bronzey-Brown), since the summer & finished it a few weeks ago. Am pleased with it. 🤗 Give it a go, fellow Wise & Witty Ravenclaws! 😊
Yes, definitely! You could make it in Stockinette Stitch doubled up just like this... cast on 100 Stitches and knit the even rows and purl the odd rows, then seam it up the sides!
I'm so excited to do this! Thank you for doing this tutorial. Sorry if I missed it but can you please tell me how many balls of yarn you used for each color?
Thanks for asking, Janelle - Yes, I used 220 yards of each color. The yarn I bought came in balls of 197 yds each, so I bought 2 of each color and only used a little bit of the second balls. Hope this helps!
Hello, I really loved this Harry Potter's scarf, but I have a question, is possible that you tell me which are the references of the colors that you used to kint this beautiful scarf? I mean which type of yellow and red, thank you so much :)
A question from a new knitter. I am a very experienced crocheter that really wants to take up knitting. So far it is very challenging lol. My biggest problem is casting on. I just can't get the hang of long tail or slingshot method. The only way I've been able to cast on half way decently is the cable method. My question is how do you feel about this method for this scarf?
The 16 inch circular needle seems a little long for this pattern. I am just beginning but I feel like I'm stretching it a lot to get it going. Is this just me or is someone else found this to be an issue as well.
Love your tutorial ! But I would like to make it without the fringe. How would I finish the ends without fringe ? Thanks so much for the excellant video !
Thank you for this! At 51, I was having to use the Magic Loop method...which seemed like an awful lot of extra unnecessary work. I started over and cast on 61 instead - that was perfect!!

Isabel Jones same!
that motivates me to knitt a slytherin scarf! gonna buy green and whiteish XD thanks
Happy knitting...but I feel compelled as a Ravenclaw to point out that I think you meant to say silver, not whitish (no e).
Cora Mullis sadly I did mean to say whiteish. In the only shop around here I can't find silver yarn so I'm stuck with using whiteish greyish or cream yarn ^^;.I know what the colors of my house are XD I'm a slytherin for years now ^^

+CutieLilyNekoPie Yay!!! Have fun & would love to see it!!

Can I just say how frickin smart that is to knit two together when joining? I wish I'd know that trick like 10 years ago.
I have now made four scarves using this pattern. Three were gifts. 2-Gryffindor, 1-Hufflepuff and 1-Ravenclaw. Thank you so much for sharing this. You're a gem!
i dont even knit but i want a hogwarts scarf so i might learn just because of this
Haha, you can do it!!! Let me know how it goes!

Wow, that sounds so cool! Congrats on finishing it!
This is very helpful! I think I'll try to make the base with two regular needles, but adding the tassels was very helpful!! Thank you!

I think I'll make this! I have similar colors, I am a gryffindor. I have a yellow and some thing close to that cranberry color.
This helped me stitch a hufflepuff scarf, I love your channel!
Wonderful!!!! So happy it was helpful to you!
Love this video! This is the time I've ever tried knitting in the round and this was very helpful. Is it possible to carry up the different colors rather than having to weave them in? I know that you have a video on how to carry up too. Thanks :)

+Studio Knit thank you so much ☺️ it mean's so much to my family and myself 😊 my nephew is true Harry Potter fan ✨⚡️and it so good to knit again 👍🏻
Can you explain a little further about changing the colours, and what to do with the yellow yarn once you've moved back to the red yarn and so on?
Are you actually a Gryffindor? I love how your scarf looks! I want to make one, I'm a Ravenclaw
Ha, of course! Awesome, thanks, Freddy!
I'm ravenclaw too
Freddy Chen I'm Ravenclaw as well
I knitted myself a Ravenclaw scarf, in the true house-colours of Dark-Blue & Bronze (well i use a bronzey-Brown), since the summer & finished it a few weeks ago. Am pleased with it. 🤗 Give it a go, fellow Wise & Witty Ravenclaws! 😊
Ravenclaw UNITE!!!!!!!!!
Can you make this without the round needle please. Thanks.
+Unbound Werewolf Yes! Check out my Double Stockinette pattern! That stitch will have it looking great on both sides!
I love this, I’d love to make a Ravenclaw one but I am WAY too impatient for this :(
Im make this one for my son christmas present thank you 💞 obrigada ❤
Definitely going to try this but I might have to wait a few weeks because my round needles are too long.
THIS IS SERIOUSLY EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! 😍😘
great video! i already have my hufflepuff scarf, buut i want to make a ravenclaw one for my best friend, so thank you for this!
I'm just curious, could you make this with regular needles?
Yes, definitely! You could make it in Stockinette Stitch doubled up just like this... cast on 100 Stitches and knit the even rows and purl the odd rows, then seam it up the sides!
or just do 50 stitches and nevermind having double thickness, yes?
Thanks for this great tutorial
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!
I forgot you can do a scarf in the round 😀Thank you
+Mcshanda 2019 You're so welcome!!! Yes, takes a little longer to finish, but so yummy and cozy!!
Would be helpful to know how many skeins or yards of each color needed for scarf
thank you very much!! I like it!!😄😄😄😀 ( and I like your sccissers)
Thanks, Softia! A Potterhead likes this scarf... hooray!
Thanjs for this pattern. How much yarn is needed please?
This is an awesome tutorial, thank you! :D
+Chii S Happy you like it!!!
Hi :) I was wondering if you have made a scarf tutorial on straight needles :)
How many cast ons do you recommend for a toddler? Also, can you do an embroidery video? :) thank you!
Another quick question, any tips on how to keep it from curling up at the edges?
please do a video on how to knit a cable knit blanket
Can you give a suggestion for how much yarn is needed?
Hi Kristen! I was wondering how many skeins of yarn you used? Just trying to estimate if I have enough to make one for my friend, she's pretty tall
Thank you so much fo making this
Hello, I really loved this Harry Potter's scarf, but I have a question, is possible that you tell me which are the references of the colors that you used to kint this beautiful scarf? I mean which type of yellow and red, thank you so much :)
I’m gonna start knitting soon! (Just need to ask for a round needle for Christmas lol)
Can I knit each row without purl? Thanks!
This is makes me want to learn how to knit!
Nice color
Thanks so much!
Yes, that will work great, too! ❤️💛❤️
How much time will it take?
The 16 inch circular needle seems a little long for this pattern. I am just beginning but I feel like I'm stretching it a lot to get it going. Is this just me or is someone else found this to be an issue as well.
Love your tutorial ! But I would like to make it without the fringe. How would I finish the ends without fringe ? Thanks so much for the excellant video !
Nancy ann probably just see it together or crotchet it
If i wanted to make the scarf longer, would I cast on more stitches, or would I need a longer set of needles? :)
+Aaron Parker You would just keep knitting the length until you are ready to stop. Same cast on and needle size. Have fun!
I've only just realised that I wrote the wrong word! I should have put "wider" instead of "longer" :/
How much yarn did you use? Planning on making one for my boyfriend’s birthday!
Nice Scarf💛❤💛❤💛❤💛❤
Using the same brand of yarn, what would y'all suggest for the other houses?
yess!!! Thank You sooo much for making this videoo!!!
You're so welcome! Love your name!!
What's the difference between using a circle needle and just regular ones? (can it be done with regular needles)
What if I want the scarf to be wider? Should I get a circular need longer than 16 inches? And should I cast on more than 51 stitches
Thanks for this. I'm making a Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff scarves.
Nice work. What kind of kniting is it? I know there are many ways to knit and Im notgood enough to see what way youre doing it.
What would happen if you knitted with just the two sticks(lol I call them sticks ) for knitting ? And not in the round. Wousl it all apply the same ?
question, when you changed colors, did you leave the first color attached or did you cut it?
can you show that without the circular needle? i have subscribed and i will be waiting
and thanks for reading my comment..
Highly recommend doing 60 stitches instead of 51 it really makes it easier for you
Thank you for this! At 51, I was having to use the Magic Loop method...which seemed like an awful lot of extra unnecessary work. I started over and cast on 61 instead - that was perfect!!
