    Thaaaanks a lot for the tutorial! I'm a beginner and this hat is the second knitted item that I've made so far. I had had to undo it for sixty times at least as I'm not skilful, but once I got the hang of it, the hat came out in no time and looks gorgeous ^^

    This was my first time making a hat. I knit using yarn that recommended size 9-11 needles. I knitted the entire hat with size 9. Cast on about 68 stitches. Adjusted the pattern slightly where necessary, but definitely doable. Turned out quite nice! Only thing I’d note is when you knit two together, be sure to pull the yarn after each stitch like she does in the video (without mentioning it).

  • @claremoriarty9104
    @claremoriarty9104 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks so much - this is really great. If doing a two tone one, with the ribbed rim one colour and the rest another, is it best to change colour after the K1P1 at row 5 and before the K2t P1 round? It seems obvious, but I know sometimes changing colour moving from a rib to a ss makes the colour change look a bit haphazard with an un-neat seem between rib and hat. Any thoughts?! Sorry for this long rambling message!

    • @Corakai
      @Corakai 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      She was knitting English. You should teach yourself to knit Continental. Continental knitting is when you knit (or purl) with the working yarn in your left hand so all your right hand does is enter the stitch. It's honestly the most convenient way to knit once you master it. I'm right handed but knit continental. I imagine you'll pick it up really quickly being left handed. So much easier than trying to mirror everything.

      Hannah Valerio Try Portuguese knitting. It's much easier on the hands than other methods, but the left hand does most of the work. Look up Andrea Wong, she teaches this style of knitting really well.

    Ugh, this is CUTE! I need to get some yarn. One question - was it long enough to go over your ears well? Or did you wish it was a little longer?

    Question, does this pattern have to be in the round or can I use straight needles for it ?

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might be able to do it with straight needles but you'll have to change the pattern

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes just one ball of yarn did the trick! Maybe a little big if you have a small head

    Can you do it with straight needles? I'm not quite comfortable with circular needles.

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cynthia Avila no, but they're super easy to get used to and you'll love not having a seam! You should try it 😊

    What happens if you dont have other needles to switch to? What would it look like?

    thanks for the video! can i simply use US sized 13 circular needles for this project? I'm not keen on the pom pom as it's for a teen boy, so how do i close up the knitwork at the top? Cheers.

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Soh Hui Cheok you can but it might end up being a little smaller. If anything I would use size 15 to make the whole project. So the Pom Pom doesn't sew up the hat, it's just attached to the top, so you follow along with the written pattern on how to finish the hat 😊

    Is this a one size hat? How many could you cast on if it was for a bigger head

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Minhateu yes it's one size and it's REALLY stretchy because of the fisherman rib. I'm not sure the stitch count. Maybe 3?

    can i use this same pattern on my straight needles???

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can but you have to change he pattern on the wrong side. So if the pattern says to knit you have to purl and vice versa

    +iKNITS Hi! When you start knitting do you begin from the middle or the end of the yarn?

  • @danielleeaslick1796
    @danielleeaslick1796 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    On row six I am lost with purl one below in the knit stitch. I get more laddering. I insert my needle into the back, yarn over and the pull it through the loop but end up with the last loop poking out on my work.
