    WHY are there so many dislikes?! This is a phenomenal tutorial that really gets that repetition into the brain. I've seen a handful of others that will cover starting, or turning, or changing the primary color, but very few actually covers starting and getting somewhere! Thank you JoannesWeb!

    • @StormCaller5
      @StormCaller5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Lol they're frustrated, because of the way they knit. I hold the yarn in my left hand and pick from there. I'm having to do a pick and toss combo and it's so hard! But I'm going to keep trying.

    • @StormCaller5
      @StormCaller5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Update: I found another way that is working. Still holding in left hand, but picking up stitches from the front, instead of back. Stitches aren't twisting and it's going a lot quicker. I have about 7 inches of my hubby's scarf done now. Tan on one side, camo on the other. Looks awesome! Thanks for the tutorial!

    • @taggih.5632
      @taggih.5632 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know I may be asking this late but can I ask how do you see the dislikes?

    • @StormCaller5
      @StormCaller5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@taggih.5632 The dislike count used to show for everyone, but it doesn't anymore. I think because people were disliking a video for stupid reasons. Like just to dislike it for the fun of it or just to be mean. TH-cam removed the ability for other users to see that count.

    • @saphirestarr9952
      @saphirestarr9952 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@taggih.5632 Unfortunately, TH-cam did away with the dislike system for the viewers. Dislikes are no longer visible on any video.
      (A shame imo because normally it was a useful metric for determining the quality/validity of a tutorial, or how-to vid. If someone recommended doing something unsafe, or the tutorial was badly made, dislikes reflected that. I wish TH-cam would instate another option or bring dislikes back.)

    I made an entire blanket a few years ago by double knitting, and I wanted to come back and say this video taught me how to do it. It's my favorite way to knit now!
    One tip I learned, though: the two sides don't need to be opposite colors. Both sides can have the exact same pattern, or if you're really ambitious they can have different patterns altogether! You just need to keep a good track of your stitches.

    Found out that knitting it "inside out" is far easier. No weaving of yarns and no threat of it twisting accidentally. Simply pull one (eg dark) yarn to the front after knitting the first stitch and knit and purl as is until last stitch. (The purl yarn will be closest to you) Pass the yarn back to the back and knit the last two colours together, then turn and repeat. Still a bit fiddly but far less so and much faster than the video. Then simply cast off the two colours separately and turn inside out for a neat little pocket eg for phone.
    Thank you so much for this video, I definitely intend to do some more projects using it! :)

    I love this method. It's also possible to create this sort of double-sided fabric using one color. Cast on an even number of stitches. Start each row with the yarn in front and slip one stitch purlwise, then put the yarn in back and knit one. Carry on doing this till you have the length of pocket that you need. Can be used to make a cell phone bag or a purse; or, used double-sided, a head band, a warm scarf or a cosy for your tea or coffee maker, with the option of inserting padding to add to the insulative capacity of the work. Gives a beautiful seamless edge.

      There would be little point if it didn't as both exposed sides would end up stockinette the way she has alternated knitting and purling.

    Hello Joanne! I saw your similar video long ago where you made a small purse with this method. I made a case for my Braun thermometer in red & gray. So I looked for that video again & came upon this one. Perfect refresher! Now I have a question to ask:Is there an easy way to get this double sided affect with crochet??? I am making pot holders for a friend with kitchen cotton. She wants 10 of them! Rather than crochet 2 squares & stitch them together, I would love to do both at the same times this way. I have done some with a method that makes it double thick in one step but it is tedious for my arthritic hands. I have played with the 2 separate sides/colors at once & it's working out ok but I think there is an easier way & I believe YOU are the right person to ask 'how'... I thought about knitting them but with the heavy cotton it is harder on my hands to do that. I hope you will be able to help me with this soon. Thank you so very much for your time & sharing your talents with us all.Edna

      Punk A Roo: Good for you! I learned to knit when I was seven and didn't really appreciate knitting until I was grown up. It has calmed me down when I was frustrated, entertained me when I was bored and cheered me up when I was sad. Sometimes it has frustrated me when I've had trouble with a pattern or a new stitch but knitting has also taught me persistence and patience an my hard work has turned into beautiful gifts that family and friends have loved. We are so lucky to have the Internet for help and inspiration Good luck to you!

      Knitting is very relaxing. I like to take a small knitting project with me everywhere I go. I'm not the best for sitting still for too long. Gives me a bit of anxiety. My hands like to be doing something, so I always have some sort of needle craft with me...knit, embroidery, etc. :)
