    Hi. We are spending 2 weeks in London. Our plan is to take the train to Paris for a few days, then go to Normandy and maybe stop somewhere on our way back to London. We are a bit confused about which train would work best for us either the Eurail global pass or the Eurostar. Thank you

  • @Gert-DK
    @Gert-DK ปีที่แล้ว

    Trains in UK is very expensive, maybe the most expensive in Europe. So an Eurail card may be a good invest, if you are going to travel several time in UK.
    I can recommend High speed rail in France, Spain, and Italy. They are fast, try it.
    You mentioned acceleration, it's a way to shortening the travel time. I am from Denmark, our stations are really close, so real high speed won't be a thing (200 km/h). So it is acceleration. I can tell one of our new trains got 8700 HP, that's a lot, even for a train. It's just for acceleration.

    I was looking for a small town in Germany. (Bad Kreuznach) I could find it on The Omio website, but not on the Eurail website. Are there some towns not covered by the Eurail pass? We haven't bought tickets yet but are looking at the 15 day continuous pass. (1st class)

    Hi uncle Bruce!
    I’m writing because I just saw that you’re coming to Berlin and wanted to offer you all the help I could give you… It would be a pleasure for my to bring you wherever you want, maybe have dinner together and/or invite you to our apartment.
    I was also wondering if you have schedule for the days you would be hier!?

    Hi Bruce! Thank you so much for this video! I have a quesiton. We are flying to Europe next week and already made the reservation tickets, we already activated the pass, but we don’t know when to pull the yellow button to get the tickets of each train, should we do it before the first day? Or we have to do it one day before each train. Thank you!

    In the US or Canada you probably first need a stamp on the card, rather then having someone in the train checking your tickets? 😅 Because you weren't sure about doing this, so I had to ask😅

    Thanks for the video Bruce. My question relates to luggage as my wife and I are also not as mobile as we used to be. Did you check luggage for the train, and did you have to lug it around the station?

    • @TravellingwithBruce
      @TravellingwithBruce  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have 4 pieces of luggage and I have full mobility. We rolled our 4 pieces along in the station and I put the 2 small carryons over the seats on a rack and the 2 large pieces were placed in a rack near the door inside the carriage.

    Hi Bruce. We are three travellers with passes for 15 travel days in 2 months, for Dec 2022 - Jan 2023. (14 cities in 10 countries, and thus many across border trips). My concern is the additional seat bookings when required. Any tips on that?

      Hi Peter, thanks for this comment today. We found that if you are travelling in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands, that your cost to reserve sets is zero or maybe $5 euros per trip. I have heard that Italy, Spain and Portugal the costs are higher. Keep looking at videos from other TH-camrs about this topic because with 35 different countries in the Global Rail Pass Network, you will run into different rules and fees. I am sure you will save a ton of money by having this pass as we did. Kind regards, Bruce

    Lovely weather for your sightseeing.
    Was your trip to Scotland part of your Eurorail pass?
    You got your ticket the day before, so was it a separate payment.
    Looking out for how you booked your seats on the return to London & then to France....all on the same day!

    • @TravellingwithBruce
      @TravellingwithBruce  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This trip to Scotland was our first Eurail Global Pass rail trip. There was no charge for the trip and the reservations were free. We also booked our return trip along with our reservations for no extra charge on our pass.

    How do you actually use the pass at each of the stations in UK? Do you scan it at the gate or something?

    • @TravellingwithBruce
      @TravellingwithBruce  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nathan, since I had the mobile app, I could book each leg of my journey on my phone. The app shows you all of the departures with times. Once I selected the trip I wanted, I just went to the station and got on the train. On board, the conductor checks your phone app and reads the code with his or her phone to verify your ticket. From London to Edinburgh, I stopped in the ticket office to get a reservation for both our trips up and back to London. To get to Amsterdam from London I had to purchase a reservation in the station. I actually bought my reservation about a week before our trip departed. I always showed my phone to rail employees at the stations to make sure I was OK and had no issues at all. It is not needed to show your phone before you get on the train, but I wanted to make sure all was well. Regards, Bruce

      @@TravellingwithBruce ok thanks, those services that require a reservation can be done on app in person? Since there an extra charge for under that

    Do you have to separate you and your wife’s tickets on the phone? Are you both have to use your own apps getting on the train or you can use one app to scan 2 people’ tickets together ? Thanks ❤❤
