I wish I could give you 10 “likes” because you have given the best explanation with “show and tell” that convincingly shows how to use the pass with the app. I also appreciate the honest rating of Eurail customer service, that is in fact very helpful. Many thanks!
You have done a great job 👏 really appreciate no one has told this clearly how reservation has done that helps me a lot to plan my bookings effectively 😊
Thanks for the comprehensive video and great info. Just wanted to note for future viewers that I believe the info re: reservations not being available online via the Eurail website is now out of date. I was able to easily book reservations directly on their site in May 2023.
Hey Christina - Thanks so much for this video. My friend and I we're having exactly the same troubles as you explained in the video, and it was so nice and shortly explained from you that Eurail has alot issues. Thanks alot!
Thank you very much for sharing. You gave important info. We are travelling for family holiday from Far East Asia and taking the Eurail ticket -- by train this ticket and good to know.
Your video was SUPER helpful. I thought I was going crazy until I saw your video Cristina. Thank you! I did find a way to 'pay for the reservations' and that is book your ticket on the website, not the app. I hope this is going to work since we are going to be in Europe for over 3 months traveling all over the place.
Hello Chad , did you use a Pass? How you bought the seat reservations? I'm thinking to buy one Interrail pass and I'm not sure because of the seat reservations. I'll appreciate if you share your experience.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm going interrailing in few months and this video answered a lot of my questions about how to use the ticket etc. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video! It has been extremely useful and helped me out of my frustration when not being able to book a seat for a train, good to know that going to the station is the best way!
What if you lived on the US how do we supposed to reserve at a train station? I would love to reserve everything before we travel overseas. On the app says 40 per seat and thats what the website actually charge for the seat. Can you explain a little bit more on it please?
This was extremely helpful!! I'm leaving on my month long eurotrip on may 1st and had no idea how to use this app. I'll be sure to check at the train station to reserve my seat on the high speed trains. Thanks and have an amazing rest of your trip!!! cya out there on the rails!! lol
Sorry it took so long to answer(I haven't had good WIFI)! YES, its a must to do it at the train station and do it as early as you can to save yourself a headache haha. I'm going to answer the rest of your questions as I see you had some more but thank you!!!
For Spain and on peak session, it is wise to do as early as possible, if you already have plans. Because if the trains are filled, then you have to wait for next train
Hi, Cristina! Thank you so much for making this video! It's so helpful to actually see how the app works! I think there's only one other video about the digital version of the pass and it's not nearly as well done as yours, though I still appreciated the guy's effort.
This is the only video I've found that actually explains in detail how seat reservations are done. Thank you so much! I was worried that I bought my pass only to have to have reservations mailed to me somehow. Me and my cousin are traveling through Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany this summer. We will be train hopping from place to place typically every three or four days. We've already booked some hostels at some of our destinations and so we definitely want to make our train connections on time. We didn't know how to plan with the Eurail pass because there's almost no videos explaining the process. Do you think its best to make seat reservations at every station upon arrival so that the next destination is secure? And you mentioned that you had some difficulties with the app malfunctioning when your friends ticket loaded just fine. What was the problem there? Was it a glitch or is there something I need to know to avoid running into a similar problem? Thanks!
Wow! Thank you so much for saying that, it really does mean so much! That sounds like an amazing route, I want to go to Norway and Sweden one day! YEESSSSS! I can not emphasis that enough haha get the tickets as early as possible if they require a reservation. If the trains dont require a reservation if doesnt matter if you add it to your pass 3 days or 3 minutes beforehand. But if you need a reservation as soon as you get into that country I would stop at the train station tickets area and get your ticket because they do sell out quickly (especially when traveling to tourist hot spots). And keep in mind I have NOT been traveling during what is considered "peak season" so I'm sure its only going to get harder and harder to get them the day before you intend to leave. Yeah so it would say "train not in pass network" on one of our apps and on the other one it would be completely normal. When it says "train not in pass network" it doesnt let you add that route into your pass. Which was so frustrating the times it happened because we would want to get on a train at for example 8:00 am but it wouldn't let one of us add it and the next option was a train at like 3pm. There's honestly no way to fix it from what I have seen other than just choose a different train time that comes up without a glitch. I messaged Eurail about the issue because it happened twice to us and they said there didn't appear to be a problem with the route on their side so there was really no solution. But like I said this only happened twice in 2 months so hopefully you will get lucky and miss that issue. SORRY the response is so long, I wanted to answer everything thoroughly. Hope this helps and enjoy your trip!!
Hello buddy, did you do your Journey? I'm about to buy an Interrail pass as I save a nice cost of train tickets but the seat reservation keeps me back. I'll appreciate if you share with me your opinion after using your pass and how you booked your seats? Thanks
Hi Cristina, thanks for this incredibly helpful video. It was exactly what I was looking for and it's a shame that Eurail don't provide a guide like this in their website. Maybe they should pay you to do their guides !!! I'm travelling to Europe from Canada next May and I'm planning to do Paris/Tours/Bordeaux/Girona/Barcelona by train. I'm travelling with a friend but I'd like to put both of our passes in the same phone. Can you do a step-by-step on how to put 2 (or more) passes in the same phone and how to do reservations in this scenario ? Thanks a lot !!!
This is FANTASTIC, thank you for making this. A few Questions: : do you have a video on how to use EURAIL with another person (wife in my case) and have both persons' trips and passes on one phone? EUrail app duplicated the trip for my wife, but do I need to repeat everything in your "how to get your QR code steps" ? Do I need to populate everything twice (each train and reservation)? Finally, do you move that slider bar and turn your ticket "on" when it turns yellow to activate the ticket, do you turn it yellow days ahead of time or just before you leave? Do you need wifi or cell service to do all the steps you discussed to create the QR code? Thank you !!!
Hey! Thanks for making this video, it's very helpful! I'm going to Europe this summer and wanted to get a pass for the flexibility and your videos are super helpful! I had a couple of questions: 1. Do you find that you are saving money with the pass? Like, have you taken a look at how much tickets are if you tried to book the day before and realize they are a lot more? I know that tickets are usually much more expensive if your purchase them 1-2 days before compared to 3-4 weeks in advance so just curious if you've taken a look out how much they would be if you bought them the day before you left. 2. I was hoping to use the pass for various day trips to different cities from a central base. For ex. I plan on staying in Ghent and taking various day trips to Bruges, Brussels, etc. Do you find the pass is useful for something like that, for city to city travel? Or do you think it's only useful for country to country travel? I just think the flexibility and convenience of the one pass instead of purchasing 4-5 day trip tickets could be worth it but it might be cheaper just to purchase those and use the pass for international trips. Thanks for your help!
Hey! Of course, I’m so glad you found it helpful:) Yesss perfect I’ll answer them in order haha 1. Yes I definitely think it is worth it still and I’ll explain why. So I made a video called is the eurail worth it and I kind of explain it more BUT if your going to like 4-5 countries I do NOT think it’s worth it but if your going to like 6-7 I think 100% worth it. That’s because the individual ticket prices from my experience (checking day before/day of) are wayyyyyyyyyyy more expensive. For example we were going to Paris to Frankfurt and the with eurail it was $15 for a reservation and it was full that day so we checked the actual price of a ticket and it was around $330(which we obviously didn’t do haha). So doing that like 10 times or even like 6 times would cost wayyyy more than the eurail. I can’t really say for buying them far I’m advance because that didn’t suit the type of spontaneous trip we wanted so I’ve never looked! 2. Soooo this is VERY dependent on the country/cities you want to go to. Generally, I would say if you want to go to BIG cities there will be a train that goes there. I checked and there are trains around Brussels like that that only take like 45-and hour butt this is not always the case. If it is a small city to want to go to I would not guarantee it. For example, we went from Venice to lake Como, Lyon to paris, Frankfurt to Berlin, Bern to Interlaken, etc and those were all quick trains! But there were other times we wanted to get to smaller cities and there was no way. It’s definitely cheaper if you plan to take a ton of trains! Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!!!!!
For the Madrid-Lisbon train, I seen in other videos that there was a train before and it stopped during the pandemic and didn't restart after it was over. I've seen the only way is to connect somewhere in the Northwest of Spain at a train station there then the train to Madrid.
It takes a minute to lean how to book seat reservations via the Eurail website. If you want to use Eurostar from London to Paris, I would recommend booking sooner. Figure out the learning curve on the website and book a month in advance or so.
It has been SO worth it being in Portugal (if you have time visit some of the beaches in Lagos because they are AMAZING!) butttttttt that bus ride was genuinely one of the worst travel days I’ve ever had so good luck!!!! 🍀 haha
Hi, thank you so much for the informative video. Just a quick question. Can I get a printout of the tickets beforehand (in case my phone doesn’t work)?
Going from London, France, Italy, the Balkans, Greece then with ferry crossing to Turkey. Two months. Your video was very helpful. Thanks. Any further tips?
Thank goodness for this video! It will help me so much on a complicated trip. The only thing I don’t get is exactly what to do to make the QR code appear?
I have a 1st class 5-day pass and had booked a trip that says 'Reservation Optional'. If I don't reserve, does it mean I can sit anywhere? What would happen if I sit on seat that has been reseved by someone else, I would need to move, right? and keep moving until I happen to land on an unreserved seat? Is there a way to identify whether certain seats have been reserved?
Hey, can you make a playlist with all your Europe backpacking trip videos. That way I know for sure I do not miss any recommanded places and tips. Your videos are a lot of fun to watch when you are planningf your own trip. Thank you inadvance :)
Thank you so much for this video!! For the seat reservations, you have to go to the station you are departing from to book the reservation? For example, can I show up to Rome Termini to try to schedule my reservation from Interlaken to Paris that is 5 days away?
well if I only stay for one day at a place, I can not go 2 Days in advance to the train station in order to make a seat reservation. What also sucks big time is that you have to print out our ''E-Ticket'' so you are able to show it to the conductor... I mean why is it calles E-Ticket in the first place? So I am travelling through Italy this week. Knowing this, I have to print out all my Train reservations in advance ( and therefore have to plan everything in advance and will not be able to spontaniously change my travel plans anymore). In Itally you always have to do a train reservation if you are travelling with high speed trains. If you are taking trains that do not require a reservation, you will be travelling several hours longer per trip in some cases.
Yeah, I genuinely don't understand why they don't have any easy way to book on the app and then get a QR code on the app with your seat reservation. It's so dumb. :/ and part of the point of backpacking is being spontaneous so it takes away from that!
Hi.. this summer I would like to do the interreil but I don't understand how the Rail planner app works for the day of exit and entry in our country. Do you know how it works? Isearch for some explanation but I still don't understand Thank you very much 💕
We are planning to travel from London to Paris this June. I'm at a loss as to how to buy tickets! Do u have to buy a Pass (which if I understand is hundreds of dollars) to simply take Eurail back & forth from London to Paris and return 3 days later? PLEASE HELP!😮
Hello Im going in a few weeks time i have set up the app and also brought a 22 conceptive day pass My question is- do i need to book my train from london to Paris now or just wait till i get there? Im worried they will sell out I really not sure what im doing 😫
Question. Myself and my wife, are travelling around Italy 🇮🇹, going to get Eurail pass for us both. Question is. Can both of us be in my App on my phone? In the same App ? Or does my wife have to have her eurail pass App on her phone. Thank you great video
Hi Christina, thanks for all the info. Have you travelled to the UK on an EU rail pass, and if so, what is the process for getting through the electronic gates where you have to scan a QR code or put a paper ticket through the gate for it to let you through? Also, I’ve heard a few online rumours that you have to make the reservation for most trains in the UK, even though most reservations are free. Is this true?
Hi thanks for the useful video! I have a one question i`ll appreciate if you can help me with: If i'm visiting one city for a day and then leaving the next day by train, that won't give me the chance to make a reservation with 3 or 4 days in advance as you recommended, would that be a problem? or is there any way to make sure that i can find a place in the train the next day? Thank you in advance!
Brilliant! Everything I expecected is here at one place. Thanks for sharing your experience. I start my journey in two weeks but confused if I should get Interrail or Eurai pass. I am working in Switzerland but of different nationality. Hope I find it that too, website is too confusing and I agree, customercare or email support take ages to help on it.
Thank you so much for saying that! I’m glad to hear it helped! Yes, they made it so confusing for no reason I swear. Plus why doesn’t a huge company like this have good customer service🤦🏼♀️. Good luck on your travels 🌎 and let me know if you ever have any other questions
Interrail and Eurail are litreally same. ONly the website name is different. If you are EU citizen or resident, then it is interrail. If you are not, then it is Eurail. Originally the name derived from the concept from 1972. Many people in EU, use the word interrailing. So the name got kept like that.
Question: Great Video...very Helpful. Question: If my wife and I are traveling together, do we each need to install the app? Or because when I bought the Eurail Pass, I indicated both my wife and I as passengers. Will that allow just me to make the plans for both of us on 1 app? Thank you for your help. Best and Warmest!
Thank you for the explanation! It really helps. I have a question, when you did the reservation for the ticket in the station does it have to be in all stations or I can just do reservations in one station for all my ticket? thanks!
this is my husband and my first time traveling to Europe using the Eurail. It;s a lot to get to know. We purchased the Global Flex Pass we are traveling to 8 destination but using only 6 travel days. Also, my husband is handicap but has a very light and small scooter. Any chance that I can make all my planning on the Eurail website and if so will it add to my Eurail mobile app. and should I add his pass on my phone.
Why can’t I just reserve on the app? Like why isn’t that an easy option to reserve on the app. Seems archaic. Just went to the train station and waited hours.
Hi Cristina, thanks for the very informative video. I have a question. My partner and I are travelling to Europe in May. Can I reserve seats on Eurail website instead of on the app because doing it on the website I can do it for both of us rather than individually on the app on our respective mobile devices which will be prone to errors? Doing it this way, how do I get the QR codes on to the mobile devices?
Hi Cristina, thank for your video. But I am really frustrated with this app. I added the passes to the app for my wife, my two adult children and myself. I can't still figure out how to book a train! I do like you said but I doesn't show me a ticket or a way to buy the reservations! I used apps before but this one got me, I did reserved and paid a train from Milano to Monaco a couple of days ago in the website but I haven't got a confirmation email or nothing yet! What am I doing wrong????
Hi great video! I have a few questions I would love answered if possible. I am first time traveller from australia :) Do you know much about dealing with group bookings? I bought a ticket for 4 of us, but we will be on the same journey. What is the best way to go about booking for all of us and using the passes, should we all just input the same trip onto seperate phones and then activate them separately, but then how do we get seat reservations next to each other? Or should I activate and book everyones pass? Whats the easiest way. Is there still no way to make reservations for the trains online? We have a solid route planned out for next month and there are some cities we are only visiting for a day before catching a high speed train or night train to head off to the next place and don't want to risk missing out on a reservation. Also once I link the pass to a trip created on the app, am I then able to edit or unlink the pass? Or edit the journey? A bit hesitant to do stuff in the app in case it isnt reversible! Thanks heaps
Thank you! Amazing (Australia is a dream trip for me!). Yes, so I was traveling with my boyfriend who also had the Eurail, and this is how we did it. When one of us found the train we wanted to take (time+locations) the other person would just type the same thing into their app and save it to your journey. So, on each of your Eurail apps you should save the same journey (for example: Lisbon->Lagos from 10:04->11:30). When you go to a train station to reserve a seat you will all 4 show your Eurail barcode that has the same trip on it and they will book 4 seats next to each other. That way you all have a scannable Eurail ticket+seat next to each other. (I hope that makes sense hah). Someone on one of my videos commented that there is a way through a computer BUTTTTTT I never figured out how to do it and neither did my boyfriend. We both tried multiple times and nothing haha. If anything, maybe email Eurail and ask specifically but we always just went to the station because we found it wayyy easier. Yeah, its honestly a risk if you are trying to get a ticket the day of (worked like 50% of the time for us). If you do wait till day of, just be prepared to book an extra night to sleep because it might be full! Yes, you can take off ANY trips you add if that's what you mean (**if you got UNLIMITED travel**). Like you can add a trip from Barcelona to Sevilla and if you decide you don't want it anymore you can just delete it or even leave it there (it doesn't affect you adding more). I'm NOT SURE about linking/unlinking the actual pass but personally I added mine but just didn't activate it till I landed. But don't take my word on unlinking the actual pass because I don't know! Sorry this is so long! (I wanted to help as much as possible!) Just let me know if you are confused or have any more questions :)
@@cristinalaura thank you so much! this helps heaps. I only have the 7 days in one month pass so does that make a difference, I will only be able to add in trains for 7 days?
I can’t say for certain because it might count if you add it or if it’s actually scanned by a conductor. I would just be careful about what you add just in case! Sorry I can’t be more helpful!
Thanks Cristina. A quick question. When it says you can use your Eurail pass to hop on and off any train as many times as you want on your travel days, what trains are they referring to? Does it mean any local trains or is there specific Eurail trains?
If you need information on the trains call the service of the national train company that is operating it. Interrail/Eurail basically only sells tickets, they have nothing to do with the actual operation of it and won't be able to help. As for reservation I never had problems getting reservations for french or German trains. Only in Spain and Portugal they don't do them online for some reason.
Hello, I was wondering about the seat reservations. Me and my friend are going on an Interrail trip next summer and we live in Norway and plan on traveling to France so we have about 4/5 different trains we have to change to In order to get there, with not much time between the individual trains. Is it worth it to take the train then considering we have very little time to get seat reservations and we are going in the peak of tourism times?😅 thank you so much for this video btw, it’s really really been a lifesaver, I’ve found next to nothing online about anything😅🥰
Hello, i watched your video and thank you, but i wanted to clarify for tourist like me, who dont have an option to come in to the station 3-4days before, i have multiple stops in each europe country, and in the eurail app it shows we can do reservations for an extra payment, does that really makes our seats assured of? thanks
Can my pass be activated weeks before my first travel day? is that how you are able to book thee actual tickets and see that QR code? I have my eurail pass, but I haven't activated it yet
Do you know if, EC, IC, ICE and RJ have compulsory seat reservations or not? The Austrian national rail company, OEBB, shows reservations are not necessary. However, they are high-speed trains.
We leave for Europe tomorrow, and I was hoping to have this question answered: at what point do you move your trip from My Trips to My Pass. it seems to me like I rread that if you do it at the wrong time, your ticket is invalidated. Also, I think I read somewhere that if you want to make a reservations, you have to do it while you're in the United States (!?) I've clicked on the "seat reservations" button and have had no trouble making them, but I'm still at home. Also, they say you have to take a hard copy showing your reservation; they won't take it from your phone. Next time, I'll make sure to get a printed copy of my eurail pass, so I don't have to worry about all these problems. And, you're right on the money about contacting anyone for help. No luck, no way. Thanx for your video, and happy travels.
Hello! Sorry I didn’t answer so quickly! In my experience it does not matter when you move it over as long as you move it over before you actually get on that specific train if that makes sense. As far as making the reservations in the United States it didn’t matter in my experience. We booked all of our reservations once we were in Europe and currently traveling but then again we always reserved things at the train station itself and never online!! We always had hardcopies of our reservations because we got them at the actual train station so it printed out a hardcopy for your reservation. If you’re talking about the EURAIL ticket it’s self we only had the online version so we didn’t print out our Eurail ticket it’s self and never had a problem with them scanning it on our phone!! Hope this helps :)
Hi, I have read in the Eurail website that you can make reservations even if you haven't activated your pass yet. Does this mean I can have the QR codes already even if I haven't activated the pass? (I'm still researching the options so haven't bought a pass yet). Thanks,
Newbie. I was a little confused when you explained what you need to do when the conductor comes by. You mentioned showing your "Eurrail"+your paper ticket .... is "Eurail " your phone with the button turned on or something else?
Christina, awesome info thank you so much. Me, my wife, son and his fiance eurail first timers . can I put a trip in that I may not use just to get feel how to use the app, maybe delete it? I had a uk station person reply to an email of mine that eurail is not good for trains inside of england but i was messing around with app and was able to put station near my Airbnb to where i want to go and , although i didnot finish putting in the trip ( not sure if i can (see my first question) but it appeared as though it would work. also if im in paris, or florence, madrid, wherever can i put in trips to other cities , within that country, using my pass. hope i didnt confuse you any more than i am!!!
hi, the ticket that appears on the app (the qr code that you showed) is an actually real ticket? like can i get on a train with that or do i 100% need to pay for the reservation at the train station? i'm trying to get the tickets and i'm soooo confused
YES! The QR code is your ticket except if you need a reservation. If a reservation is required, they will give you a printed train ticket whenever you buy it and you will show both to the train conductor if he checks tickets. But if no reservation required all you need is your QR code once you have added the journey you want to take.
I'm trying to figure out if Eurail even goes to Benidorm, Spain. I thought most cities had train stations. It doesn't come up on the website. Will it come up if I buy a pass and get the app. How impossibly frustrating if you can't even see exactly what destination, times and routes there are before you buy the pass. Makes no sense to me.
Laura, i followed step by step a trip i want to take. datchet to orpington in the uk. picked the date and time added journey but when i go to view my ticket i get " no ticket for this date. it looks like you havent added any journeys on this date. choose a different date or go to my trip and add journey to your pass. i tried several difffent dates and times. what am i doing wrong?
Super helpful video, thank you! One question - when you book a seat reservation, do you get a specific seat number? Or is it just a general reservation and you have to find a seat?
It depends on the train! I would say for the most part it gave you a specific seat but there were like 2-3 times we took a train that is sit wherever you want. It will say it on the ticket (and if it doesn't just as a conductor and he will let you know).
Which is better the movil pass or the physical pass, I am not sure which one is the best option? I am living in Canada and I don´t know how long does it last to get it.
Hi, this is super helpful! thank you. So when you pick a trip do you have to use a pass. I have one but was wondering if I could just pay the 12 euros. Also if I am leaving on a Friday, would I be able to go Monday and get a ticket or should I wait longer? Thank you!!
My husband will be backpacking through UK and rest of Europe this summer. We will be there for about 2 months. Were trying to decide which Eurorail pass to get. Would you say the unlimited one is best? Thank you!
I would say only if you do play on traveling a lot throughout those 2 months. If you are going to spend like 3 weeks in each place, I would say no but if you plan on going to 5+ places I think it would be worth it. It's hard to say though because we traveled a TON (19 cities and 10 countries) so not having the unlimited would have made no sense. Hope this helps a little!
No I always did it same day or a few days before. You do have to be careful that the trains don’t book up during busy season but most of the time I did it last minute ñ
We never did anything on the app until activating the pass itself So I can’t really give you an accurate answer. To be honest I don’t think that you can on the actual app. I mean if you want to just use the website to see the routes and then do a basic route that you’re going to do once you activate you can but I don’t think you can before you activate! Hope this helps :)
Going to Italy in 3 months and I was about to get eurorail. Thanks for the headsup. I was going to get the 6 day special while im there for two weeks cause im only traveling from city to city for 6 days. Do the tickets on the apps need to be validated or no?
Thank you for a great video, really helpful. I’m just wondering if you can add trips during the day or you have to add all at once to show up on your ticket? In one of our traveling days we will stop for a few hours to explore a city before traveling on and we don’t know how long we want to stay. Can I add the trip during the day?
You can add as many trips as you want any time during the travel day. If you change your mind about a route, you can delete it and add another trip right from the rail planner app
Yes, the person that commented below is correct. You can add or delete as many trips as you want if you have the unlimited travel pass. Sometimes I wouldn’t add it until 10 minutes before we were leaving because we were being very spontaneous but you can add them a week before a day before 10 minutes before it doesn’t really matter. And going along with that like I said you can delete any that you don’t want to take or just leave them there honestly if you don’t end up using them it doesn’t affect your pass at all
@@neroysc thanks, i have a question, if you could answer it would help me so much because i am leving in 5 days, i don't understand how the app counts the travel days, for example you said that you can add as many trips as you want on the my trip section, and then click the yellow button to see the ticket, but it is strange to me since you can only travel for 7 days in a month(i know it changes for everyone, this is just mine), thanks in advance
Is Eurorail pass really worth the money? I was planning to take a 3 months pass, but I have to pay for reservations and go to the stations everytime, is it not at all worthy I assume.
I wish I could give you 10 “likes” because you have given the best explanation with “show and tell” that convincingly shows how to use the pass with the app. I also appreciate the honest rating of Eurail customer service, that is in fact very helpful.
Many thanks!
Ooooo thank youuuu :) I appreciate you saying that so much! Glad it helped
Currently sleep deprived and lost in Lisbon. This video helped a lot. Thank you!
The Lisbon to Madrid situation is exactly why I watched this video. Thank you so much for your information. It made me feel less crazy as an American
Glad it was helpful!
thank you ! first one to explain the seat reservations!
Glad it was helpful!
You have done a great job 👏 really appreciate no one has told this clearly how reservation has done that helps me a lot to plan my bookings effectively 😊
Thank you!!
Thank you very much. Clearest explanation I have seen.
Thanks for the comprehensive video and great info. Just wanted to note for future viewers that I believe the info re: reservations not being available online via the Eurail website is now out of date. I was able to easily book reservations directly on their site in May 2023.
I think it is too as I have seen many people in the comments say it’s fixed! Thank you :)
Hey Christina - Thanks so much for this video. My friend and I we're having exactly the same troubles as you explained in the video, and it was so nice and shortly explained from you that Eurail has alot issues. Thanks alot!
Of course!!! Thanks for watching :)

Yes! Love to hear that :) That honestly would have made it sooooo much easier. Where are you are going? I can’t wait to go back 🌎
Hello Chad , did you use a Pass? How you bought the seat reservations?
I'm thinking to buy one Interrail pass and I'm not sure because of the seat reservations. I'll appreciate if you share your experience.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm going interrailing in few months and this video answered a lot of my questions about how to use the ticket etc. Thank you!
Of course! I’m glad it helped you :). Let me know if you ever have any questions about it that I didn’t answer.
Thank you so much for this video! It has been extremely useful and helped me out of my frustration when not being able to book a seat for a train, good to know that going to the station is the best way!
You’re more than welcome :)
I used RT⑦⑦⑦E at TrainPal checkout and got 5% off for train cards!! are you interested🥰
This is so much more helpful than their website!
Thank you for your useful infm. Good luck!!!!
Of course!!!
Hi, Cristina! Thank you so much for making this video! It's so helpful to actually see how the app works! I think there's only one other video about the digital version of the pass and it's not nearly as well done as yours, though I still appreciated the guy's effort.
Omg thank you so much for saying this! I super appreciate it :))) Let me know if you ever have any questions!
100% with you. this video should have thousands of views! Thanks for taking the time to show us
🙏🏼 thank you!!
Going back in December for a longer period of time. This video is super helpful ❤️ thank you
I’m glad to hear it!! If you ever have any questions just let me know.
@@cristinalaura Actually, thanks for a thorough explanation of the glitch for those of us who have passes/apps in hand!
Hello buddy, did you do your Journey? I'm about to buy an Interrail pass as I save a nice cost of train tickets but the seat reservation keeps me back. I'll appreciate if you share with me your opinion after using your pass and how you booked your seats? Thanks
Thanks for this..................will stick to the paper one😘
i leave tomorrow and i had so much stress, THANK YOU
Yay!! I’m glad it helped :)!
Hi Christina, this was 2 years ago. Are you able to get seat reservations online yet?
Hey! Thanks for making this video, it's very helpful! I'm going to Europe this summer and wanted to get a pass for the flexibility and your videos are super helpful! I had a couple of questions:
Hey! Of course, I’m so glad you found it helpful:)
Yesss perfect I’ll answer them in order haha
@@cristinalaura Hi above..... times we wanted to get to smaller cities and there was no way. meaning ?
thank you !
I actually plan on going to Lisbon from Madrid during my trip this summer, I’ll likely have to take that same 14 hour bus!
Great tutorial ❤❤❤❤❤
Going from London, France, Italy, the Balkans, Greece then with ferry crossing to Turkey. Two months. Your video was very helpful. Thanks. Any further tips?
Glad it was helpful!
Great video!
Thank goodness for this video! It will help me so much on a complicated trip. The only thing I don’t get is exactly what to do to make the QR code appear?
Could you help me with that? And Thanks again for this video!
Thank you! No rail connection between Lisbon and Madrid? Wow.
Hey, can you make a playlist with all your Europe backpacking trip videos. That way I know for sure I do not miss any recommanded places and tips. Your videos are a lot of fun to watch when you are planningf your own trip. Thank you inadvance :)
Yes, I just created a playlist for it as well as all of my other videos! Hope this helps :)
@@cristinalaura Thank you so much 🙏🏻
thank you. love you. save my time tome reservation online.
Super util, muchas gracias.
Mi duda esta en como activo cada dia del pase
Thank you so much for this video!!
For the seat reservations, you have to go to the station you are departing from to book the reservation? For example, can I show up to Rome Termini to try to schedule my reservation from Interlaken to Paris that is 5 days away?
Thanks for the tips!
Happy to help!
well if I only stay for one day at a place, I can not go 2 Days in advance to the train station in order to make a seat reservation.
Thanks so much. Good explanations
You are welcome!
Really helpful.... Thanks a lot!
Of course!!!
Hi.. this summer I would like to do the interreil but I don't understand how the Rail planner app works for the day of exit and entry in our country. Do you know how it works? Isearch for some explanation but I still don't understand
Thank you very much 💕
What do you mean day of exit and entry? Like are you asking if it works on the first and last day orrr? Sorry I'm confused haha
Thanks ...
you saved a lot of time...
You’re welcome!
We are planning to travel from London to Paris this June. I'm at a loss as to how to buy tickets! Do u have to buy a Pass (which if I understand is hundreds of dollars) to simply take Eurail back & forth from London to Paris and return 3 days later? PLEASE HELP!😮
This video is important. Thank you so much
Of course! I’m glad it helped :)
Hello
Im going in a few weeks time i have set up the app and also brought a 22 conceptive day pass
My question is- do i need to book my train from london to Paris now or just wait till i get there? Im worried they will sell out
I really not sure what im doing 😫
Love your videos so useful
Thank you :))
Hi thanks for the useful video! I have a one question i`ll appreciate if you can help me with:
If i'm visiting one city for a day and then leaving the next day by train, that won't give me the chance to make a reservation with 3 or 4 days in advance as you recommended, would that be a problem? or is there any way to make sure that i can find a place in the train the next day?
Thank you in advance!
I have the same issue! Wait for your answer, Cristine. Thank you!
Same here, I’ll be traveling in summer and I’m afraid there’ll be no seats if I f don’t reserve in advance.
Have made reservations online without any issues. I recommend at least trying before you use a lot of time at the train station.
So, the app only allows you to view train schedules but doesn’t let you purchase tickets or reserve seats?
Buying train tickets in Portugal with EuRail, did you notice if it was a discount when paying the seat reservation?
Thank you for the explanation! It really helps. I have a question, when you did the reservation for the ticket in the station does it have to be in all stations or I can just do reservations in one station for all my ticket? thanks!
It was at each individual station unfortunately :( . UNLESS it's a connecting train then you can buy it at the one station!
this is my husband and my first time traveling to Europe using the Eurail.
I have made seat reservations directly on the Eurail planning app (and received the confirmations via email) no problem
Can you teach us how do you do that please?
Thank you so much omg! so for no reservation needed trains all i have to do is book it on the app?
Your welcome! And yes!!!
I was wondering when you should activate your QR code on the mobile app for non seat reservation spots
I am first time traveller from australia :)
Do you know much about dealing with group bookings?
Hi. When you make a reservation, when do you pay this fee? We are going in May. I’m planning my trip now. Do I pay reservation fees now?
Thanks Cristina. A quick question. When it says you can use your Eurail pass to hop on and off any train as many times as you want on your travel days, what trains are they referring to? Does it mean any local trains or is there specific Eurail trains?
If you need information on the trains call the service of the national train company that is operating it. Interrail/Eurail basically only sells tickets, they have nothing to do with the actual operation of it and won't be able to help. As for reservation I never had problems getting reservations for french or German trains. Only in Spain and Portugal they don't do them online for some reason.
What if you just can't get to the station in advance? Maybe you're spending a little time in each city.
Hope this helps :)
can i book my seats in ticket desk at Schipol airport if part of my eurail pass travel is from luxembourg to germany?
Hi, I have read in the Eurail website that you can make reservations even if you haven't activated your pass yet. Does this mean I can have the QR codes already even if I haven't activated the pass? (I'm still researching the options so haven't bought a pass yet).
Thanks,
Thank god for you!
Hi. Can you not use DB Navigator etc to make some reservations? Thanks for great video. I am also in Portugal
There used to be a sleeper train but it was cancelled during Covid and Renfe won’t restart it
Between Lisbon and Madrid
hi, the ticket that appears on the app (the qr code that you showed) is an actually real ticket? like can i get on a train with that or do i 100% need to pay for the reservation at the train station? i'm trying to get the tickets and i'm soooo confused
Can I buy the pass where I'm in France 🇫🇷????
Super helpful video, thank you! One question - when you book a seat reservation, do you get a specific seat number? Or is it just a general reservation and you have to find a seat?
It depends on the train! I would say for the most part it gave you a specific seat but there were like 2-3 times we took a train that is sit wherever you want. It will say it on the ticket (and if it doesn't just as a conductor and he will let you know).
Which is better the movil pass or the physical pass, I am not sure which one is the best option? I am living in Canada and I don´t know how long does it last to get it.
How do you pay for your reserved tickets??????
Hi, this is super helpful! thank you. So when you pick a trip do you have to use a pass. I have one but was wondering if I could just pay the 12 euros. Also if I am leaving on a Friday, would I be able to go Monday and get a ticket or should I wait longer? Thank you!!
Can you go to any station to make a reservation or just the station that the actual train is departing from?
My husband will be backpacking through UK and rest of Europe this summer. We will be there for about 2 months. Were trying to decide which Eurorail pass to get. Would you say the unlimited one is best? Thank you!
I would say only if you do play on traveling a lot throughout those 2 months. If you are going to spend like 3 weeks in each place, I would say no but if you plan on going to 5+ places I think it would be worth it. It's hard to say though because we traveled a TON (19 cities and 10 countries) so not having the unlimited would have made no sense. Hope this helps a little!
Did you reserve seat early 30 days before the trip? Is there any seat available if I arrived at station 2 days before the trip? Thank you..
No I always did it same day or a few days before. You do have to be careful that the trains don’t book up during busy season but most of the time I did it last minute ñ
Don't you book tickets online, but using the euro/interracial ticket as a discount/travel card?
How do I get a pass????? Every time I save a trip it doesn’t show a pass what am I missing???
Hi Christina, just wondering can you plan your trip before activating your pass?
We never did anything on the app until activating the pass itself So I can’t really give you an accurate answer. To be honest I don’t think that you can on the actual app. I mean if you want to just use the website to see the routes and then do a basic route that you’re going to do once you activate you can but I don’t think you can before you activate! Hope this helps :)
Yes you can. I have started planning my trip and haven’t activated my pass yet
Well done, Christy very helpful. And wear some cloth will be better
