  • Texas A&M has had plenty of good quarterbacks over the last few years, but Haynes King was seen as the guy who could bring the Aggies to the next level. Sadly, it has been nothing but disappointment and today, we will take a look at the rise and fall of Haynes King and what is next for him, enjoy!

In my opinion I think it was decision making. He was quick and precise to make one but it wouldnt necessarily be a good one. He would stare down his receivers, and then ran instead of going through the progression. Maybe if he went the Tannehill route and learned how the receivers think he may be able to comeback and try again.

Ive sort of gotten the impression that Jimbo Fisher doesnt like his quarterbacks to run. If that is true, that takes away one of Kings strong points. The other kid, Max Johnson, played the entire year last year at LSU. Nothing can replace experience and King has yet to put in a full year. As said in the video, Max definitely is not the playmaker that King is or was, but he is trustworthiness and decision making with the ball, is the simple reason for me why he got the nod.

My sense is he's a bit too fragile at his current weight and muscle mass. In HS he could get away with his speed being far superior to defenders giving him time to scramble and hit open receivers or run for yardage - and rack up the stats. In the college game, his speed is not significantly greater than everyone else, and he's taken hits from top athletes he's never felt before. He can't easily run from defenders anymore and has become very wary of the next big hit on the way. Especially after his season ending injury. He's now got very jittery, thrown bad passes, and made poor decisions as a result. If he hit the weight room and nutrition program he could add some girth at the expense of a little speed, and become a more confident QB. He also has to develop quickness - a la Manziel - not just top end break away speed. If he's smart, he'll stick around and take advantage of the training and program at TAMU. It's a long season, and he's likely to see the field again and needs to make the most of it when that time comes. In the meantime, he needs to hit the gym and the cafeteria.

Haynes is a beast on his own, and most likely would shine even if he didn´t play for his father, but I can´t but imagine his father doing everything possible to tailor the team so it would fit his son´s playstyle and all, while also giving his son more attention and leaving other talented kids to dry who had the bad luck to play qb and be in his sons time in HS.

I don't understand why these good quarterbacks or any position player doesn't go to a school like Texas State or a smaller school so you get more playing time. The bigger the school the less likely of playing time because the competition is so fierce. Not that there won't be competition at a smaller school but you are less likely to get lost in the crowd. I guess the bright lights from the big schools is too much to pass up.. just my humble opinion!

Nothin wrong with Haynes it's that catalog Jimbo calls a playbook. You look at every game A&M is on TV with and you see Jimbo over there sorting out 25 pages of plays where the rest of the play calling coaches have a placard with plays on the front and back. If he would change (bring in a OC with a modern concept of RPO and spread offense)and simplify that offense and bring it into the 21st century he'd be a successful coach .But he's not going to change he's hard-headed. This knot head is going to force A&M to buy out that 87 million remaining on that ridiculous unnecessary contract Ross bjork gave him. But the good news is hell after 700 million spent in The last 5 years on that program what's another 87 million rite?? They fired Summlin and he had a better record than Jimbo.

Big time analyst here. It's simple, after watching King absolutely blow for the past 2 years, I have come to the simple conclusion. His oversized, dare I say MASSIVE helmet he's wearing is the reason for all his failures. I mean look at that thing! His helmet is bigger than Darth Helmet's, helmet in Space Balls, and that's gotta be a top two heaviest helmet of all time. Darth Helmet big time failure, Haynes King, big time failure. Common denominator? Big, big helmet. I think a helmet change might be vital to his future success.

wow i'm going off the assumption that the high school highlights are taken from games with other power house programs with d1 caliber players, or else his 4.5 speed on paper does not transfer to play speed. alot of those rushing td's the defenders were closing the gap quickly once he was behind them. In most levels of high school play a true 4.5 player in open space will be widening the gap but again, i hope and want to believe these are nationally ranked programs with 4.3/4.4 safeties.

What went wrong? Poor system fit and coaching. Jimbo doesn’t have a #1 receiver, the OL is mediocre, and the offensive play calling is stale. Haynes is a scrambler and makes plays outside the pocket but Jimbo keeps him in with the exception of a few QB options. His talent was squandered at A&M much like Kylers and Kyle Allen.

In East Texas I watched a lot of his games at Longview and a lot of times it was the defense that made him look good because he did throw a lot of pics and they had to go bail him out quite a bit there are several opportunities against Lufkin and John Tyler where they could have turned the game around but long use defense shut them out in the game he once stayed in he almost blew that game the defense had to buckle down as he threw a few pics the thing that saved him to win state was the fact that the whole game the other quarterback on the other side had played perfect and threw his only interception and costs in the game giving Longview that State title he's very talented the problem is he makes cluster mistakes and some of their wins it took him a while to get going and they had a lot of three announce and a lot of interceptions the defense held up for him even when he put his Texas uniform and it started his first game last year and they had them blown out he did throw some terrible interceptions against the terrible team to be honest with you if he had remained the starter and not got hurt I don't think we would have beat Alabama I honestly think we should have dumped him and kept Zack calzana .

I agree. And each time I say that King should still be the starter, I get blasted. His stats are still far superior to Max's, but Jimbo is fighting for his job, so he felt a lot of pressure to make the switch. His completion %, his YPA, he's got more TD's, his running....all his stats are better except for his INT's. Yes, he needs to stop turning the ball over, but at least he's stretching the field, which Max has not done yet.

Tannehill was a QB in high school. When Jerrod won the QB job, Tannehill wanted to be on the field, so the coaches suggested he play WR, but he was still in the QB room. When Jerrod got injured, he never came back the same, thus, Tannehill got his chance. The rest is history. Tannehill is a more decisive runner than King, which is what caused defenses problems. If King could work on decision making, he could still be very special. He's a great kid. I'm pulling for him.
