My fathers side of the family are commercial fishermen in southeast Louisiana. My brother is a oyster fisherman, while l was into chasing shirmp. Now I install flooring. I miss being out there at times, but it's a gamble, and your not just gambling with your money, you're also gambling with your life.

You have to love the sea to do this type of work, tiring, but grateful when you get back to shore and rest in order to go back. Good work in order for other to enjoy your shrimps. Good I do this kind of work on a smaller scale but just as rewarding. Thanks for sharing.

Love your take, did it for 20 years. Had a bad year in 1985 and lost my boat. I guess I gave up too quickly. Keep it going.

Been trawling since I'm five yrs old, when it was time to start seasons couldn't sleep for days all excited to go, and it's some of the hardest work I've done. But that's how we roll in Dulac, La.. Did it all caught shrimp, gill netted for fish, crabbed both with pylon, and traps ,trapped nutrias muskrat otters Minks and raccoons also alligators, all hard work but I believe the saying when you love what you do ,you never work a day in your life, it was fun enjoyed every minute, day and years, now I'm sixty four and the hardest part of life is knowing I have to slow down from what I love doing.
