Overnight in the Off Grid Cabin: Alone with my Dog

- Join me for an overnight with my dog in the cheap off grid pallet wood cabin which we built for free using recycled pallets. I spend the night alone in the cabin with my dog, spending time connecting with nature and the surrounding wilderness. Being in the tiny house with nothing but simple tools, a warm fire and some good food is sometimes all that is needed in life. I fire up the woodstove and cook soup, bake bread in the pipe oven and cook on cast iron. Being able to go off grid and switch off from the busy city life and busy materialistic consumerist world that we live in makes me feel free. I've always enjoyed camping in the woods, practicising bushcraft and survival skills and learning primitive ways of living. Back in 2018 my dad and I had the idea of building a cabin from pallet wood. We wanted to see how cheap we could build a homestead, using free pallets and we even recycled the old rusty nails. The pallet wood cabin is still going strong, and although I have now moved further away from it, I hope to be back there this year to spend more nights alone in the forest with just my thoughts. Thank you for watching.

Highlights of my trips to the Cabin we built from free Pallet Wood. Hoping to head back here soon! Working on the bunker still, as well as part 3 of the Celtic Roundhouse!
Tell us about the music? Sorry if I just missed it. These videos are great.
Jaxx says your gett'n kinda skimpy with the grub.
You miss the woods near your dad's home.
Just watching the video with the missus and we think you eat more bread than Warburtons! You're just missing some eggs! Lol love the videos mate!
🏕🏕🏕 great vid
I would like to meet Mr. TA and buy him a brew or two and even dinner and ask him where he comes up with his wonderful ideas and videos. I have been interested in small cabin living for over 40 years, yet, he has shown me stuff in his videos that I never would have considered. Thank you TA Outdoors, from a fan in Western Canada!
This must be one of the most relaxing things that you can do... just a night alone in a cozy little pallet cabin with man's best friend. Totally aswesome video yet again brother! Keep up the hard work! 👍👍
It really is man!
@Skid Skid 😂😂 oh come on... a little company never hurt anybody... or has it? 🤔
@Skid Skid 😂😂 hope this wasn't filmed on a friday of the 13th day of the month...
You know what mike, these are the ones I love the most. It’s something we can all make. Not that the other builds were impossible but this one feels more homely. Take care.
It seems 'homely' and the pallet wood can be bought on-line in the US. Add the G-stove and your favorite dog and we are 'good to go!'
Love that g stove! I’d buy one of those for my house!
Love that g stove! I’d buy one of those for my house!
That little stove, and all of it's attachments, is pure genius. Utilizing more of the energy, than merely the heat. Fabulous.
And Jax always makes me snicker and smile. I really needed that today. Thanks for taking us along.
You know, just watching this made me feel relaxed, what with this & your bunker, it needs to be a netflix show so I can binge watch.
I really enjoy your pallet cabin, the mere simplicity of it. U have a imaginative mind, I would enjoy one of these myself , like the heater, great job, such serenity indeed.
I enjoy it when you and your Father spend time together. It makes me feel good for both of you. I consider you both lucky to be able to do that at older ages...
I love him he's so dang cute. Pulling the root out of the ground. So precious.
He sure is cute! You can see he was really... rooting... for his human!
My favourite TA series of videos ever, I reckon I'm responsible for at least half of the views on the palletwood cabin. Father and Son teamwork at it's best.
3:23 Mike likes a bit of bread roll with his butter, I see! ;0)
Lol, and 8:55. Thank goodness it's Kerrygold!
If you can’t see teeth marks, it’s not thick enough! 😀
Good for him ! I just wish my Mrs. wouldn't complain so much when I spread my butter that thick :-) Although, fair play, Mike more than works it off when he's doing his stuff in the woods. And natural fat like butter has got to be far better for you than synthetic margarine, as long as it's balanced with plenty of hard graft to burn it off - which he does by the bucket-load :-)
All that crap written about cholesterol is mostly based on flawed studies. Your brain needs (bad!!) cholesterol to function properly and there's nothing worse than taking "statins" to destroy your memory! Eat what you like but everything in moderation and taking pills is not the answer....Those sausage butties looked good......
@John Quinn I feel for you bro....My GP wanted to put me on statins when I hit 50 he said it was because I was entering the stage in my life where I was at risk!!! I flatly refused to have them and that was nearly 6 years ago and my latest cholesterol blood test is fine! I can't stand margarine and use butter in all my cooking.....GPs are to ready to give pills out like sweets without looking at the big picture or the alternatives....And don't even get me started on the ridiculous targets for Blood pressure they set for people!!!!!
You did a great job, nothing like being in the woods by yourself all warm and cozy.
My friend u are living the best of ur life mate. You got a lovely family, you got little jaxx, u got an awesome father, you have the most relaxing life style and you even have bread for breakfast
I want to build a cabin like this.
Nitin Santhosh yeah same
They made it for free with pallet wood
Actually, these are my favourite video series, I love this cabin 👍
Jaxx....He cracks me up. Always getting ito something. Like a precocious child.
This video just emphasises less is more in so many ways , really enjoyed just watching things happen and taking in the natural noise around you , thank you
At last, at last. Someone who agrees with me on the subject of butter portions. I can't express how happy this makes me. 😋
Da get man really appetite:))
Before the video even starts I’ll give a thumbs up. This guy works hard
I really enjoy the videos with your dad in them.... It is good to spend that time together.... I didn't have my dad around....warms my heart to see it!.
Moments with dad and dog precious and priceless!
You and your dad have a special bond and I love that. Cherish everyday you have together.
There’s something so darn relaxing as being in a little shed made of wood..with just the basics ...no flash gear or people in your face, just u n the dog.
Sooo therapeutic that’s for sure.lthanks TA
Thank you brother for another great video.
Thanks for the little journey back in time Mike. I enjoyed it.

Super video. Very impressed with the little fire; so versatile. A log fire and a good book; a perfect way to spend a chilly winter evening at the cabin. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Best wishes.

Don’t dislike this video please. He’s an inspiration.
I always enjoy this little cabin. I started watching when you and your dad were building it.
I JUST rewatched the vid of you and your dad building this. Then I get notified for this vid. LOL
Love your videos so much Mike, thanks for keeping your fans abreast of your adventures...that oven connected to the stove is a game changer, that is so neat along with the little water box for your hot water...you and your father have truly put some serious time into this little cabin..I'm extremely jealous

I have missed seeing you and Jax in the Pallet Wood Cabin. It's like a homecoming of sorts. I also remember the time you were outside cutting wood and your father making faces at you while inside the cabin. You are a great team.

YES!! PALLET WOOD CABIN CONTINUES, YOUR DAD...AND JAX! Your channel doesn't get better than this. I have been longing for a catch-up video here. I could imagine a homeless life in a place like this...maybe with a cocker spaniel and a bit more room. Love to see that G-Stove with its accessories.
Wonderful!

Assistindo aqui do Brasil. Gosto muito. É um mundo novo.

Hello my friend, I'm Allan from the Philippines your video building that Pallet Wood Cabin caught my attention specially that you have built that along with your Dad which reminds me of my father too. Very inspiring to watch and amazing skills and I love how you and your Dad able to complete the project nice and smooth. So now I just subscribed to your channel and I'm looking forward to watch more of your wonderful videos. Thank you so much!
The pallet cabin build video is what hooked me on this channel. So beautifully and artfully shot and edited.
Glad to see my man Jax...Well put together video.....
Wish my old man wanted to come do stuff like this. You two are building amazing memories together
I Love to watch all these, I have been following your episods for quite awhile and go back and watch them over again & again.. I especially love your little dog, and when you and your dad are working together and enjoying each others company is fantastic. My dad is gone now but I recall the many Great times we had together. So enjoy every minute of it. I love being out in the woods and the beauty of Nature itself, it is a most peaceful time. Keep up your GREAT WORKS, we all enjoys them very much. God bless & Godspeed my friend....
Many thanks
This is the life. Thanks for sharing TA!
I’m sure it was rewarding to make and complete the cabin, and also a great place to escape and enjoy the outdoors.
Escape to his back yard.
Love that little pallet cabin Mike! I think you should film there now and again.
That is the coolest woodstove I've ever seen.
G Stove and Winner (something) are high quality brands. The Winner (something) stoves shown on Kent Survival have the added feature of two removable stove top lids to allow direct contact with flames and high heat. Those of us who had moms who used wood or coal stoves might remember that our moms sometimes took off the lid to quickly heat or to fry foods.
Jax is a very lucky dog. Keep it up brother. Good living
I love that little oven you have on that stove
Inpresive !!! Bravo.!!
So cozy and your dog is adorable
Nice to see you back out in the cabin mate!
Awesome video thank you for sharing it with us fans
This video gave me the inspiration to build one of these and now I'm in mine with a nice cup of tea watching it AGAIN! Thanks MIke. Amazing channel.
Jaxx and his sticks and digging so relaxing
I have wonderful childhood memories of building forts in the woods with my brothers. We let our imagination go free. I think a cabin in the woods is where you can listen to your own heart for a while. Peace in the new year!
Excellent, loads of respect and bless you and your family. Rodge David Kidderminster UK
Love these videos. Don't have the opportunity to get out of the city much but this makes me go back. Thanks!
This is possibly one of the most wholesome videos I have ever watched
That stove with the little oven above it is my favorite part of this cabin, it’s a brilliant thing to have.
Nice to see you return to the pallet cabin.
Awesome video - such a cozy little hide-away. I like the Felix Imler book at 4:25. That guy is great.
Thanks for sharing.
What a life. So relaxing
I think Jaxx thinks this is a much better deal than the underground bunker! Thank you for a lovely lunch break...
Thank you for regularly uploading.
I greatly appreciate the videos you make. Your various projects, especially construction and expansion/finishing (like the off grid cabin in this video), impress me and I enjoy watching them. Your voice sounds wonderful and enhances your communication as far as my ear is concerned. I also like the videos where no one speaks. I like the video quality and editing.
However, I have even greater sympathy for your dog as he is a fur ball of amazing cuteness. I would gladly hand out hours of belly rubs, ear scratches, playing fetch, and even walks. I dutifully clean up after a dog's waste. (I acknowledge you and I will almost certainly never meet as I am far away, so those interactions are but pleasant idle day dreams.)
Thank you for this channel, all your hard work, and letting us see your dog.
Awesome vid. Your vids have inspired me to go and adventure in the woods and experience the outdoors more
I love it! I love the sound of the bread oh, I love the butter oh my God! And when you dip that bread that is so relaxing watching you eat that cuz I know you enjoy it. This video is so relaxing lovely music love what you doing. You deserve this break
Love this relaxing video! Would only be better if there was more hunter/gatherer style food. But it’s winter so that may be difficult. What wonderful memories you will have building something so peaceful with your dad and having the time to share it with him. I wish I could have that with my dad who passed away before his time. Thank you for sharing!
You are so creative! I love your videos! I only started watching a couple days ago but now i cant stop watching! I really like your creativity but i like how you stop and show your meals as well. Your very talented i wish i was as creative as you!
+
That stove is a true work of art. A perfect example of form follows function. Good enough to hang on the wall just to look at.
Everything about this video is perfect..... Thank you!
Your's is definitely one of my favorite cooking shows! Awesome memories made with your dad and your brother. Thanks for sharing.
This is your best video so far
Sweet cabin and crunchy bread,,,, Nice! I wish my dad was into that.
Totally awesome video again ! Thanks for sharing! 👍😁
