First of all don't listen to the people at the academy telling you that you can make over $100,000 a year. A seven-year employee told me last year he made $93,000 and that is again at 7 years, but he picks up as much as he can get. In West Bloomfield Michigan you constantly hear about carriers making a hundred eighty thousand a year, well those are people that are well past the pay cap and you have to work for the USPS for 13 years to reach the cap. Anytime I come close to hitting 40 hours, they bitch about my timing or tell me I don't have to work a particular day after I come in. They do what they can to keep me under 40 hours. Another thing they don't tell you is the supervisors get a bonus every quarter based on the carrier's timing. You will wonder why are they constantly going after people about their timing when they get 8-hour routes done in 7, well it's because they want you done in six cuz it looks good for them on the bonus end.

Thank you for sharing. I’m at the very beginning of everything. I just passed my assessment and took the fingerprints today. My concern are the hours. will they have us working Mornings, Midnights or Afteroons? I work a job where the hours are 10:45am-7:30pm and it guarantees I get 40 hours a week and to be going to this CCA position where the hours are gonna be iffy? I’m concerned. I have to admit I’m not in a rush for them to call me. Lol the USPS can take their time.

    I’d like to know:
    Start time.
    Time you go home.
Total amount of hours you typically work a day.
How many hours do you typically work in a week?
How many days off do you typically have during a 7 day week.
    Do you work weekends?
    Do you work holidays?
    Which holidays?
Can you easily request for time off?
    Do you get approved?
Can you take a full week off or more for a vacation?
What happens if you wake up and are sick and cannot make it into work?
What happens if you have an emergency and cannot make it in?

Isn't it a conflict of interest, what company has its own union, paying their own employees to represent union members paying monthly $60 union dues, gaining no money for winning grievances, when you can, for free, file an EEO within 45 days of Usps offenses, winning up to $300,000. for discrimination and up to $4 million for retaliation?
Usps union is complicit with Usps management, practicing patterns of racism, retaliation against whistleblowers, also discrimination and retaliation against injured on duty disabled employees! See McConnell vs Usps, Pittman vs Usps, Glover vs Usps, and many, many more cases for decades!
Past 5 years Usps paid out $5,631,795. for sexual harassment.

Bro, I've been working for 5 months as a CCA, and to tell the truth, I really don't like it, If you're married probably your wife is gonna cheat on you, and your kids are gonna take a distance from you, you're gonna be a stranger at your home, and if you are single you won't have enough time to engage with somebody. There are certain things that don't have a price, like your freedom and your family. I don't see myself doing this for the next years.

Mainly because I just choose to do 8hr shifts only or less while I can because 6 days a week doing 40+ hrs lifting and throwing heavy parcels all day is taxing on my body. They both have their pros and cons. The rural carriers get paid off of the routes evaluated time. Say a route is evaluated at 8 hours, no matter how long it takes you, you get paid for 8 hours. The rural routes at my particular office, are shorter than the city routes. They usually finish before us. It takes longer to become career as a rural carrier though.

They have a non caree plan that they’ll tell you how to sign up for in academy. It’s not quite day one, but it doesn’t take long at all
