Why does nobody care that Zeke's death stopped the Rumbling? Eren broke the requirment for the royal blood in the Path Arcs.

Remember when Eren touched Dina and commanded the titans in season 2? Then even a little bit afterwards he ran away and still had some power to command?
I think the power lingers a little bit even after a severed direct connection.
Edit: Since he had this power for like a day and some change I’m sure it wasn’t all just gone super quickly.

@@UpturnTheUncool You don't even understand the matter here. Eren BROKE the royal blood requirement in the Path episodes. Royal blood wasn't needed any longer for Eren to use the power of the Founding Titan.
Not to mention that the Wall Titans are just 60 meters tall Pure Titans. Without the Founder's control they should have moved by themselves.

I had never read the manga before so I had no idea they would spoil it this bad. They did Eren literally the gravest injustice. What was all that character development for until now? Why did he have to say those powerful and vengeful words, why was he portrayed with a conviction that was unshakable? That scene in the last episode where he had the conversation with Armin, watching it was a literal nightmare. They did him so bad. I cannot get over it. The story literally revovled around Eren. He was at the center of it all. And then in a moment, they just threw it all away. What a disappointment.

I literally dont understand why some people dislike the ending, could you explain yourself a bit more?
      I'll tell you my pov:
Eren saw the entire timeline the moment he touched Historia (changed him forever) and he even tried to go against it but he saw there was no way to avoid the loss of his friends, so he turned himself into the villain so that his friends would kill him and become world heroes like the Tybur, this way keeping the peace in Paradise for decades if not centuries, allowing his friends to live a long life and removing titans from the world.
Zeke's plan or Eren's alternative of running away with Mikasa both would lead to Paradise still being hated and attacked and his friends dying, he saw no other way.
In the end, hatred will always exist in humans which is why they show us after many many centuries, civilizations still fall but Eren's goal was ultimately to keep the peace on his time and he succeeded, allowing his home to be safe and his friends having a long life like he told them. Btw, I'm not defending Eren I wanted his friends to stop him but I do love the story.
It's a bittersweet ending, I really liked it. This was never a conventional show with good guys and bad guys. It was great imo.

@@sidgrg280 This is gonna be long probably, sorry about that, no problem if you dont wanna read.
"we all hate it" is not true, I've seen so many forums and videos filled with people that love it because the anime explained the ending so much better than the manga.
I don't see the writing being weak since the whole point of "time travel" in this show is the fixed timeline scenario where it doesn't matter what you do, it always leads to the same place because the future has already happend, it's fixed. That means, if you time travel you are unknowingly causing the future you want to prevent.
Imo that's the best kind of time travel, in other shows where you can change everything it just leads to way too many plot holes and things that just can't be explained or imagined.
In any case, in AoT there is no time travel actually, it's just attack titan shifters able to see the future, but whatever.
Eren was not out of character, that's a misconception from people who just wanted him to be edgy and broody like in season 4. He wasn't acting either, he was just going through the story knowing exactly what had to happen, living in the past present and future all at the same time inside his head.
But in the talk with Armin, he knew he was at the last moment, about to die and he shows us the real Eren we've seen in season 1-3, just a regular person that doesn't want to die and is selfish like every other human, loves his friends and wants to live with them, etc.
I just think people who hate the anime ending (the manga wasn't as well explained) forgot the story, if you rewatch the show in a binge, you can tell the ending was always there, ever since the first episode and you can see Eren as he is.
Anyway I dont want to change your mind, I just wanted a talk because I'm still so hyped from just finishing the anime hehe but I stumbled upon this video filled with people that dont like the ending so I wanted to get your perspective.
I found other videos filled with people like me that love it so I dont mean to annoy here so in case I dont hear back, thanks for the chat!

@@MrWestSky We as in the ending haters not the whole fandom.
Well you can explain and polish all you want. A shiny turd is still a turd. The time travel shit I am not really a huge fan of but it created a lot of inconsistencies and plotholes. Like him killing his own mum is such a lame paradox.
Also idk what you mean the ending all was all there. We ain't got a short term memory dude. Eren didn't ever have romantic interest in mikasa. if anything its Historia who really connected with eren mentally and emotionally in many episodes we watched. The ending seems to have been ret-conned to have mikasa be the main character rather than Historia to explain their love for each other to please Japanese fans. Also there is a way to show his human side and that is not by making him a little crybaby wimp. i really do not accept the pathetic way they assassinated his character there. Even if we had to see him cry he didn't have to cry for the most pathetic thing which seemed so stupid.
The ending was too convenient, simple and straightforward. Like nothing of sort which we have come to expect from AoT. before we used to have to look out for small details which would be extremely important down the line. Everything was set up for an epic ending like all the puzzles fit together perfectly but unfortunately it seems there wasn't any puzzle to solve at all. Everything had to be taken at face value because it's the truth somehow.

Eren's character was so consistent and had a huge development up until the last scene. Not that what he says to Armin about how he feels about Mikasa but it is how it came out of nowhere.
And people say "Eren always cared about Mikasa so it is obvious that he loves her" No, it is not obvious, I agree that he cares about her but it does not mean he loved her.
If you are an author, in order to convey your character's emotions especially romantic feelings, you gotta set that up and must have an actual build up and development in the actions and behaviors of your character, so that your audience can pick it up without having it to be plain and obvious.
I have no problem with Eren loving Mikasa, but writing only two scenes where Eren has an interaction that slightly hints the possibility of romance between him and Mikasa is not solid proof of him loving Mikasa for the whole time and it felt so off. Have Eren looking at Mikasa the same he looked at Historia, have Eren talking and defending Mikasa the same way Eren talked to Historia when scouts about to sacrifice Historia, then it sure works just fine.

Also, in order to be able protect itself better in 50 years, paradis, for instance, could have forced mikasa and levi to have as many children as possible (for the Ackerman army), just like historia, and it would be a perfect chance for eren to show how much he cared about his sis

While I did enjoy how much easier the anime ending was to digest, and even enjoyed it, there were just so many inconsistencies, plot holes, and things that didn't make sense. In all those years, Ymir never saw another person know how to love and let go? Zeke dying should not have stopped the rumbling as Ymir chose to support Eren and not listen to Zeke, which is the very reason the rumbling even started. How were the pure Titans so powerful and so menacing that even Shifters had trouble with groups of them, but now they are easily going up against many shifters? If Eren had the power to control Titans, he could have just stopped the titans from destroying the walls and his mother, yet did nothing. Historia's and Eren's conversation about the baby was pointless. The War hammer Titan served no purpose. Eren not knowing why he did what he did was terribly explained, as he said he also did to make his friends heros. Reiner and Annie both needed to die to atone for the crimes they committed. Had they tackled these things, the ending could have gone from a 5 to a 10. Overall, the anime is still my favorite of all time. And even if I don't agree with the ending and how they dismissed some of the themes of Eren's character, I still enjoyed it and accept it for what it is.

This is gonna be long so just know I mean no offense here and just wanted to touch on the points you made. 😊
So there probably wasn’t a person who could help her in her specific case and if there was, there probably wasn’t one that would obtain the founding. It’s a little flawed yes, but honestly I think she was meant as a talking point of love and how it affects us all after the show was over. Like even if the ending were completely perfect in every other way she was meant to be a talking point.
Zeke dying being what stops the rumbling makes sense. She was still attached to the king/royal blood. Once he was detached from Zeke and his founder body, Eren still had residuals of his power (just like he did in season 2 after touching Dina).
Just like in Season two even Reiner had trouble holding them back and some of them were people he knew like Connie, his mom and Jean making them more hesitant I’m sure, plus that thing was persistent in getting to Eren and was giving Reiner a hard time before Eren became the colossal.
For eren having power to control the titans, I believe some sacrifies are necessary for progression. You really can’t save everyone especially since you don’t have control of everyone (Ackerman memories and Titan shifting, Marley, Azimobito, other nations etc)
I don’t remember the talk about Historia’s baby, I just know Historia wanted to do what was best for the island and the Mp’s made it so that she basically does nothing. ’ll leave that alone though.
Without the war hammer Titan Eren would’ve died in the fight between the armored and the Jaw. If you mean that the war hammer person served no purpose…well…I really can’t argue with you there. Like they tried but…😂
Okay here’s where a lot of people get things messed up. I agree it wasn’t explained the best, but the subtext is what matters. It seems like you understand there is subtext so I won’t go into detail about what it is but they’ve gone over almost all reasons and explainations for why someone would do this and what would happen afterwards etc. the logical way. At this point it’s time for emotion-true emotion. No more of this stoic “I can do it all” attitude especially after talking for SO long in the paths.
Reiner and Annie needing to die is opinion-based. Plenty of deliberately bad people, and people who are bad against their will live long lives. By that logic everyone should be dead. I get they did horrible things but whose to say that, like Reiner has been doing since season 2, they’re not both lamenting outside the scenes we see in the end.

The reason Eren started the rumbling is because he truly wanted it to happen.
I feel like it’s worth noting that when Eren talks about him being a “slave to freedom” it’s the freedom by his own definition-the one that he refers to when he reverts back to his child self among the colossal titans and says “this is true freedom.” Which loops back to the point of the real reason why he started the rumbling which was to achieve his childish desire-the ideal world he saw in armin’s book essentially, an emptied world with a clean slate that he was able to experience. Like he said to Ramzi (that kid he broke down to) he was disappointed at the mere fact that humanity EXISTED beyond the walls not disappointed necessarily with HOW they acted (even though that might be a secondary thought)
By no means was Eren controlled. He HAD a choice. In the Marley Arc, Eren made it in such a way that he had "no choice". He saw the future, yet does not choose to find alternatives. He CHOSE to believe what he saw because he WANTED it to happen. For example, if you saw a future where you would have to kill your best friend and didn't want it to happen, you would probably avoid meeting up with your best friend. Simply because you want to avoid such a situation to happen in the future at all costs. Eren's action, on the other hand, made such a way that he was able to do the rumbling.
Eren uses noble deeds and thought processes like "saving" Paradis, protecting his friends for his selfish desires ( the ideal world he wished to see in Armin’s books )
That’s why people are wrong when they try to say that Eren “hoped” for his friends to stop him. He simply hoped for his friends to SURVIVE the rumbling he initiated. And when Eren said he tried so many solutions and none of them worked, those solutions were ONLY valid to him if it succeeded in achieving his own true definition of “freedom” and hopefully his friends surviving his choices based on the choices they made/make thus-forth . He wouldn’t budge HIS dream of freedom- he only chose solutions where it was in a way a “win-win” for him and his friends. For example if Eren wipes out the entire population, paradise and his friends would be ok, if he wipes out 20% like in canon it would “level the playing field” for years to come at least for all his friends to live long lives out of conflict. If you really think about it he didn’t really even care about paradise because when he started the rumbling the walls crumbling killed so many eldians in paradise just to initiate his freedom dream.
Again, Mikasa’s dream sequence was one of those alternate solutions Eren thought of, but he even said when talking to Mikasa that he regretted the outcome so much. That’s why Eren calls himself an idiot, it’s a deflection. He knows the solutions he seeks is totally motivated by selfish desires and just like his nature pushes him to act the way he does-he had to of known his friends, especially Armin would act in their nature and disagree with that solution for its absurdity and thus conflict between him and them would ensue. Again he hoped they would deviate from that choice for their own survival for he even admits if they didn’t stop him he would of flatten the entire earth. This is why Eren went from "I did this for you guys" to "I had no choice, the FT's power messed up my head" to "I just wanted to do it" during his conversation with Armin. Because he tried justifying his actions.
Even symbolically in the anime when Armin handed him the shell which represents his version of their dream the hopeful one of freedom; it’s handed to Eren in his bloodied hands. He could never achieve the dream that he and Armin wanted without it inherently being interwoven with bloodshed even though Armin said this dream was “at your feet” the whole time. It was accessible in a different way, a way that was “closer to home” except Eren kept neglecting that option in pursuit of his own desires pushed by his nature. That’s why I even think that Armin shouldering the blame was a complete act of consolation for a friend who has done the unthinkable. How do you console somebody that has done that type of action accept trying to lessen the load. Armin did his fair share of atrocities like when he killed all those civilians in the Marley invasion. But he was ultimately put in that position by Eren because Eren knew that Armin and everyone else would have to rescue him allowing Hume to continue on his path to initiating the rumbling.
    So all in all
Being so unsure of the future, Eren kept it to himself which is reasonable. He isn't "controlled", everything he does is because he wants it-it’s his nature like he conveyed back at the cabin when killing the kidnappers. Eren CHOSE to believe what he saw in the future, instead of trying to change it, he did exactly what he saw. Why? Because he WANTED the rumbling to happen.

Or maybe Eren wasn't controlled and just didn't have a choice other than the rumbling? He literally begged Hange for another option, he tried weighing out his other options and didn't immediately just go for the option where there'd be the most bloodshed, he is not doing the rumbling for funsies, it's because he doesn't have a choice, kill or be killed.

I was surprised when I saw that they removed the "you became a mass murderer for our sake" line since I knew a big number of manga readers did like the ending and I didn't knew Isayama made multiple apologies for the other half of the fandom
I remember reading the chapters as they came out and debating on various platforms, we thinking multiple possible outcomes as we consumed inhuman amounts of copium (like the AoT no Requiem alternate ending) and each chapter seemed to take the LITERAL WORST PATH, I mean like, Isayama had multiple ways of making a good ending but he wrote himself into a corner where the only reasonable solution to giving the story proper clossure was justifying genocide so he got scared and decided to give us a lame ending
This is more personal for me but I really get bittersweet feelings and kind of annoyed when I think how dirty they made my girl Ymir (the fake one) she was my favourite character and died offscreen and Historia ended up marrying the fucking farmer (I would be pleased if Historia decided to name her daughter Ymir or something but nope)

I think that most of the narrative in the very last chapter of the manga that contains the talk with Armin and Eren explaining why everything happens, and the reason why Ymir was the one who create Eren the way he was, to do The Rumbling and see if she can kill someone she loves, is too forced and also unconvincing.
One reason now Eren is an idiot with too much power that is just following what Ymir wants, and he kills his mother because is what like that but in the chapters where he comes and talk with Reiner in Liberio he ask why his mother has too die, and also where reach Marley's coast with the march of the colossals he curses the humans remembering when he sees his mother dying, and then when he talks to Armin he says he is just a stupid dude with power who is just following the path of Ymir his whole life even the death of his mother
And two I don't see any parallel with Mikasa and Ymir other than both loves someone that apparently there feelings are corresponded, with just that lt makes me understand that Ymir craft Mikasa's love for Eren to be in some way parallel with her to king Fritz but there is a difference king Fritz saw Ymir like a slave, Eren don't see Mikasa in that way so she could recreate king Fritz in Eren.
Thats why I don't feel convince with the narrative of the very last chapter with the extend content in Attack On Titan and ruin everything what was elaborated from the start of the story because all was a craft of Ymir.

Reasons to why it’s a terrible ending.
1 How did his friends survive the titans? They lose Sasha to 3 titan shifters and 2 kids but lose no one against 100s of titan shifters?
    2. Zeke dying shouldn’t of stopped the rumbling. Ymir’s goal was to destroy the world so why didn’t Ymir just continue the rumbling after zeke died?’
    3. Zeke should of stopped the rumbling earlier because his dad telling him “ please stop Eren” didn’t give him motivation to die so he can stop it but armin showing a ball did?
    4. How did mikasa free Ymir?😂 and no it isn’t because she was able to kill her lover and move on no no no she didn’t move on for crap she still had that scarf on and got buried next to Eren.
5.Ymir doesn't have Stockholm’s syndrome, if she did why did she not heal herself when a spear went through her? If she had Stockholm’s syndrome she would of had the will to live for the king. Ymir’s character is terrible. She is in the paths because she is a slave to Fritz but disobeyed him ?
    6 Eren ch139 (last 30 mins)
    “ I’m an idiot”
    “I don’t know why I did the
    rumbling”
“ I moved forward for mikasas choice”
“ I did it to portray u as heroes” 💀💀💀💀
“ I would of killed them all if u didn’t stop me”
    Pre ch139
“Ill keep moving forward until I destroy my enemies “
“The only way to end the cycle of hatred is to bury it”😂
7.Ain’t no soul answering this question. If Ymir can see the future then why did Ymir wait till mikasa kills Eren who somehow frees her when she can see the future and knows that mikasa will kill Eren? Why did she wait for it to happen when she knows what the result is? She should of been free since she entered paths
    8. What was the point of destroying 80%? eldia got destroyed. What did he achieve by doing that? He made the outer world hate eldians more and doomed paradises safety which he promised ( Eren only cared about Eldias safety not cycle of hatred so eldia bombing themselves is irrelevant for him)
    9. What was the reason for the rumbling ?
It defo wasn’t to make them look like hero’s because Eren said if u didn’t stop me I would of killed them all which is a contradiction.
    10. Erens mom death was pointless. He already said he killed her because it wasn’t bertholdt time yet which means it wasn’t to fuel his hate for titans💀He already had the determination to lead him were he already is. When mikasa’s parents got killed he said “ if anyone tried to take away my freedom I won’t hesitate to take theirs” he also said to his dad that the kidnappers were scum and animals that needed to die. Eren before his moms death wanted to join the survey corps and venture outside the walls. If he found out the world wants to kill him he would of started the rumbling because they tried to take his freedom and we knew what Eren thinks about that. Erens view of freedom was killing everyone outside the walls so he 100% has the determination to do the rumbling. (Anyone who says Eren view of freedom wasn’t killing everyone u need to rewatch the last episode where he was talking to ramzi the kid
    11. In ch130 ( episode where the ships get destroyed in Marley) Eren thinks about his mom getting eaten by the titan and it being his main motivation for the rumbling which makes no sense since Eren should know that he killed his mom because this is when he sent armin to paths and told him everything.
12.The whole Eren at the cabin scene. How did eren interact with mikasas memories? She is an Ackerman he Shouldn't be able to do that. people who are saying this is a different timeline pls provide ur proof. If it is a different timeline why does Eren have titan marks? Why do they also grow bigger the closer Eren gets to death? They become massive when she is holding erens head representing that it was a fake memory. The bigger the titans marks the closer she gets to reality
    13. Eren crying like a baby for mikasa is a retcon. When did Eren ever cry like this for mikasa? He alway pushed mikasa away from him. When Eren found out he has a 8 years to live mikasa was in jail with him, did he care about her then? No he didn’t even care about mikasa when he found out he dosnt have long left to live even isayama said mikasa is a mother figure for him so how exactly does him crying like a baby fit his character?
    14. Eren said to armin he will show them the memories after he gets killed but shows it to mikasa before he gets killed?
    15. How did Eren turn into the collosal titan after zeke died and the worm left him ?😂😂😂
    16. There was literally no point in the rumbling, the outside worlds wants to kill then because their just eldian. What makes Eren think destroying 80% of the world then letting armin kill you to look like a hero does? Stop them from hating eldians? No😂 they will hate u more💀

      1. How did his friends survive the titans? They lose Sasha to 3 titan shifters and 2 kids but lose no one against 100s of titan shifters?(Eren dosnt even know if they would survive so no Eren didn’t let them survive
1 response: Sasha died to one kid with a rifle. Titan shifters didn't even see her. Idk why we act like feats from our protagonist's group shouldn't be ridiculous in a world that is ridiculous. Titan shifters weren't in their full capacity as we see from when they turn after Armin's and Zeke conversation.
      2. Zeke dying shouldn’t of stopped the rumbling. Ymir’s goal was to destroy the world so why didn’t Ymir just continue the rumbling after zeke died? (Ymir already disobeyed zeke when he has royal blood so his death should be irrelevant)
2 response: Ymir just created titans. The rumbling was devised after her with the intention of collateral damage if Marley invaded the pacifistic King Fritz. Ymir could disobey, but that only stopped Zeke's plan. Once Eren had Zeke, it was just his existence that fueled the rumbling.
      3. Zeke should of stopped the rumbling earlier because his dad telling him to please stop Eren didn’t give him motivation to die so he can stop it but armin showing a ball did?
3 response: Zeke tried to stop the rumbling. He was probably the closest to anyone prior to this last movie in terms of stopping it. Again, his own dad (like you mentioned) said he literally couldn't stop Eren. If you didn't get Armin's speech then that's on you, not gonna explain that.
      4. Ymir doesn't have Stockholm syndrome, if she did why did she not heal herself when a spear went through her? If she had Stockholm syndrome she would of had the will to live for the king. Ymir character is terrible. She is in the paths because she is a slave to Fritz but disobeyed him twice?
4 response: your argument: "she did what her captor asked" wild that this is exactly how Stockholm syndrome is described: "the psychological condition of a victim who identifies with and empathizes with their captor or abuser and their goals. " (link below since it's a tough concept apparently) If her captor wants her dead, and she goes along with her captors wishes, does that not describe Stockholm syndrome?

So with Zeke gone it's not weird he could not continue the rumbling. The gang knew this, that is why the plan was to find Zeke and sever the connection. Many of these nitpicks I see can be explained within the established rules of this universe. I'm not going to say it has zero plot holes, but this series was very well put together from beginning to end.

Not really though. This guy takes the symbolisms and paralelisms (and even the dialogue) waaay to literally. The titans are officially gone. Why would you believe that years in the future the Titans would come back? It's just another story, starting the same way as Ymir's story did. Eren's breakdown is mainly human because HE KNOWS he's about to die and doesn't want to be forgotten by his friends (especially the one he loves the most). The scene where he says "I'm just a simple minded idiot with too much power in his hands" makes sense when we take into account who Eren is: A kid (who's not right in the head) that thought that the solution to all of his problems was genocide. That in itself is a pretty stupid take. Still, it is kinda pathetic how he breaks down, but when you get the context, you understand why he cries like that.
Also, if you think that Eren's character was ruined in the last chapter then that doesn't make sense. By that logic Eren's character was ruined since chapter 131, when he feels sorry for the innocent people he is about to kill. If Eren was truly the cold hearted bastard we see at the start of S4, he wouldn't have cried at all, much less ask for forgiveness. Sorry for writing too long, but the reasons this guy gives for the ending being bad are either misconceptions or nitpicks.

i think you’ve misunderstood the situation with ymir and mikasas parallel. mikasa was never meant to “get over” eren fully because that’s not how grief or emotions work. she was meant to put her feelings in order to do what she needed to do for the greater good of humanity and for the good of herself. this was what ymir was unable to do. yes they were both heavily influenced by their love but the goal was never to stop loving, it was to not let love get in the way of what needed to happen.

This is simply not true. I think you’re not quite understanding. King Fritz was dead for 2000 years yet Ymir could not get over him.
Think about it king Fritz is DEAD yet Ymir was still in love with him. She needed a reason to not love him. So why should she separate herself from him if Mikasa hasn’t after Eren’s death?
The idea is Isayama believes Eren and Mikasa’s relationship is toxic since Mikasa believes it’s fated hence separation needs to happen. He admitted this in a 2014 interview.

Just think about it: Isayama managed to create a silent character, with ZERO dialogue and ZERO monologue but still explore her backstory, struggles, suffering, mystery around her motivation, set such amazing parallels between her, the mc, historia, freckled Ymir, zeke and frieda only through her emotions and actions, symbolism and visuals, he connected it with aot's themes and its lore. He managed to write THIS... so she, ymir fritz, got to be destroyed by 3 gd lines ("only Ymir knows...", "ymir loved the king fritz" and "she was waiting for mikasa")
    Just... why? WTH? FOR WHAT?
Where do I begin? Well, her love for the king... Firstly, no way it's Stockholm syndrome as this shit works differently. So, no. Secondly, even if she loved the king, WHEN did she start to develop feelings for him? Before freeing the pigs? After their marriage? After getting pregnant? When? Thirdly, WHY does she have affection for fritz? He ruined her life in every way, he abused her physically and mentally, he did the same to their children but she... Uh, ok, let's see (as if we can). It's clearly shown in 122 she hated her life with him. But fine, if she loved him, why did she disobey him by freeing the pigs and not regenerating? Why didn't she smile or wasn't happy when he was around? Why did she want him dead instead of her and regreted not letting fritz die? If she regretted this whole time, doesn't it mean she already put herself and her daughters above her husband so the titan curse could end sooner?
Now, ymir and mikasa... Their connection has NO buildup. It's never hinted at something common between these two throughout the entire show. The Ackerman's headaches had no allusion to the goddess. So why her? What about this woman made fritz choose mika? The fact she was an Ackerman? Or the person who was able to kill the love of her life? Um, couldn't ymir find someone else, like, sooner, 282 years ago FE, among millions of people, within 2000 years? Or it's because mika killed the founder when it separated from the hallucigenia? How does mikasa know her headaches are caused by ymir messing with her head if eren didn't tell her about that? Who knows, who cares...
Why even show so many well-written parallels between ymir fritz, eren, historia and freckled ymir if they have no payoff? Why does Ymir find herself in mikasa but not historia whom she has much more in common with? Historia is a better version of her, so why not wait for reiss? For what reason does she pick a girl with no dignity, self-respect and ability to move on or grow up? How are her relationship with fritz and eremika bond even similar? Eren didn't treat mikasa the way fritz treated his wife. Eren saved and freed mikasa, that assh*le enslaved and turned his woman's life into a nightmare. The mc and the king are completely different just like mika and ymir. What'd she do if mikasa suddenly changed her mind and didn't kill eren? Wait for 2000 years for someone again? How can mikasa help her move on from the king if she herself didn't move on from eren?
Next, if Ymir was the one to make titans in paths, who made her titan? Was the hallucigenia a separate organism or was it connected to fritz after giving her titan powers? If it wasn't connected to her, then why did it disappear instead of trying to find a holder? Why was it trying to find one at first but vanished after Eren's death? So the founder's death affects it? Then the hallucigenia should have died when Ymir died. But they're not connected, are they? Or the opposite? Ugh... Why did the founder split into 9 titans? Why not 6 or 27 or 3 if she had 3 daughters? If maria, rosa and shina were able to get their mom's power at the same time, does that mean both erwin and armin could eat bertholdt and become shifters together? And if these 3 ate the founder, shouldn't every descendant of the royal family possess it? Whose child inherited the founder? Rosa's? Maria's? Shina's? Or all simultaneously but after that it split into 9 titans? How did fritz know about the way of passing titan powers to new holders? Was Ymir dead when he fed her to their daughters? If she was, then her power should have been given to a newborn eldian. If she wasn't, then she let the king chop her into pieces and saw her daughters eat her? Is that even possible to stay alive after getting dismembered so many times? If she can rewrite her people's dna, that means she can lengthen their lifetime or make them invulnerable or immortal? Can she provide them with armor appearing out of their bodies or weapons out of the air? Or just stop them from turning into titans? About paths... I refuse to talk about how they work. It'd take one more paragraph
Additionally, whose side is Ymir on throughout the story? On fritz's, who planned to build Eldian empire? Or on Zeke's and Karl's who wished to end this empire's existence and wanted her descendants to die? Or on Eren's who tried to save some of them? Is she with mikasa who stopped eren from doing it? Or is she with the alliance who did everything in their power to save the rest of humanity on the continent? Or is she on the royal family's side? WHOM does she obey? Or is it just going with the flow of events? If that's the case, then how can she wait for mikasa? But if it's still for witnessing mika murdering eren, then why does she listen to zeke when eren enters paths? By this logic, she should join the mc right away to see him get killed as soon as possible. Why does she join eren at first and start the rumbling with yeager but then help the alliance defeat him? Why'd she do that to someone who made her moved to tears for the first time after 2000 years of suffering, who told her she's just a person, not a slave or a god, that she gets to decide and choose? Why are we told in the final mikasa saved her if eren already did that? Did she need help twice? If the mc wasn't the one to free her, how could she disobey zeke? Is eren her liberator or pawn? If a liberator, why didn't she tell him what tf she wanted or write shit on the sand, anything? If a pawn, why make a show "at your service, mr zeke" and weep after Eren's speech? Did eren and she even need zeke's royal blood after the rumbling started? Yes and no?
Also, what exactly made titans disappear? Eren's death, his refusal to live, the fact the hallucigenia separated from the mc, fritz seeing the kiss? What? Ymir's desire to stop? So you mean to tell me she wanted them to exist? She could refuse to make them anytime? Are you kidding me?
Why did she smile at the end of ch 138? Because eren got killed or because the goddess saw the kiss? What were those scenes with her watching everyone during the rumbling all about?
To think that for more than 100000+- years (if we take into account time in paths moves slower) she created MILLIONS of titans when shifters transformed and when eldians turned into them (dozens times a day), healed her descendants (once again, dozens times a day), changed or erased their memories, rewrote their dna, made shit from crystals, walked millions of kilometers to build titans, carried many-many pails with water and sand, climbed high to make enormous arms, heads, necks etc... for TWO THOUSAND YEARS she made her children and their children suffer, made the world endure, helped the mc start GENOCIDE, watched millions of people die and kill each other, witnessed her people eat one another and so on just because she COULDN'T MOVE ON FROM HER ABUSER! Do you realize how absurd and unrealistic it sounds?
What else should I say... Saintitchief is right: either she's the dumbest or the most despicable person ever. Either her plotline is retconned at the last moment or the author just didn't think it out properly (which is so unlikely if you remember the 1st episode's name). Or after all, maybe, just maybe, she was the true aot villain all along, not a victim as we thought. We were just ignorant to see it or didn't want to notice. Tmm, Ymir's character gained the worst conclusion in snk, even worse than eren as we didn't even get to know about her motivation. It remained a mystery because "only she knows...". Her arc was so unresolved and so underdeveloped. What was isayama even thinking?

Eren isn't a bird and the bird didn't wrap the scarf around her. If you look earlier in that scene, she still had the scarf already around her neck. The bird just tugged at the scarf and Mikasa interpreted as Eren sending a sign, because grieving people want signs of their lives ones watching over them.
And Mikasa did let go. She was fated to protect Eren at all costs due to the Ackerman curse, and could never hurt Eren. She was a slave to him, like the founder was a slave to Fritz... but, she broke free, did the right thing by ending Eren, and showed the founder she could be free of her curse as well.
But, breaking free from fate and not being a slave doesnt mean Mikasa has to stop loving that boy. You can still love and long for someone after moving on. Its a mature concept that many might not understand. I hope that, one day, you will... because that type of love feels great and hurts at the same time, but beautiful all the same.

NGL, i sometimes think ending something is a heck of a lot harder than most people give it credit being. Is this just me going to bat for Yams and Stephen King (infamous for his books having meh endings)? Maybe, but IDK, I feel like unless you do it early or work backwards...the ending is something crucial, but also something you can VERY easily mess up, and can even lead to stuff being soured retroactively if it's bad enough (See: Game of Thrones Season 8. I know several people who can't go back to the older seasons knowing the mess of an ending it all leads to).
For what it's worth, the ending to AOT wasn't complete trash for me...then again, AOT isn't an anime i was heavily invested in, so it was kinda "that was weird but also, no skin off my bones" 3 years ago, and the same now.

Bro, I think the two endings were from the decision of Ymir Fritz after concluding Mikasa's choice. After seeing her kill Eren, she made up her mind to not be slaved forever. After Mikasa told Ymir that her love was a nightmare, then it flashed a scene that Ymir didn't save King Fritz at that time. So there are two endings. One that is the true route of the Aot timeline (Ymir saving King Fritz) causing the world where there are titans, and second is when Ymir didn't save King Fritz causing the titan powers to not get passed down to her daughters (world without titans). So maybe, just maybe there was a timeline where titans don't exist and the characters were just having a normal happy life.

I don’t think Ymir wanted to “move on” more like realize what eren told her what did she wanna do which would also allow her to move on
Now for the theme of aot I agree it’s not just war will always repeat itself I think the message of aot is h to at though humans are incarnately bad their is always beauty is that bad and if we grasp that beauty their is hope for a better tommarow this can be shown in the survey corps, mikasa, eren finding a drive to kill the titans and more and the everybody is a slave to something is not about desires it’s about going so far with that desire that it will kill you now I will say this for the last time THE TREE IS NOT TITAN POWERS COMING BACK if that boy even gets powers it will not be titans it will most likely be something hopeful

The ending leaves you bitter on purpose and making you feel powerless and disappointed like Eren. Part of the mesage that War never ends and that the cycle continues. Here goes my breakdown of some wrongs things and bad plot of AOT and my dissatisfaction as a manga reader. I disagree that AOT was good until the last chapter, and only the last chapter ruined everything like most maga readers say, AOT started to lost himself and go downhill after Erwin death and the reveal of the basement, and then you have a 3 years time skip that skipped possible development's for characters and the original cast of characters became useless and without purpose, three examples is historia useless, mikasa without a purpose or goal, and armin that became dumb after he ate berthold and likes annie just because he ate berthold. After the time skip the only characters that do something and have a plan is zeke with the euthanasia plan and eren that became a one man army, eren became a cold strategist like Erwin, smart like armin pre time skip, and badass like levi and mikasa, everyone else become stupid and useless. And then eren and Zeke go to the paths and then meet ymir, its heavily implied that ymir wanted eren and choose him to go to her and free her from being a slave to the paths, eren himself said that, and you have the plot twist of grisha seing eren all along, and eren goal would be using the colossal titans to fight marley and everyone one outside of the island, because eren goal was freedom for the eldians in the island and his friends. this was the story until chapter 122 and 123. evething else after is a shit show and makes no sense, armin and mikasa created the alliance forces with marley to stop eren from saving the eldians from certain death from the people outside the walls, it makes no damm sense. And eren taking the role of villain just to sacrifice himself because suddenly now ymir plot point is that she loved the king for some reason, but in paths when eren saw her past she was a slave to that king and was very sad all the time and choose death by the spear to escape from the king, but in last chapters ymir sudenly loves the king fritz and the one ymir choose was not eren to free her like showed in paths when eren hug ymir and she cried, mikasa is the one chosen to kill eren and for some reason free ymir, the story gives a 360 and the story at this point betrayed everything that it was about, before chapter 123 and 122 (the paths with eren and Zeke meeting ymir). and eren talk with armin in the manga after he died in the paths saying he doesn't know why he started the rumbling and accidentally send dina titan to kill his own mom by accident, WTF? if he can time travel using the paths controlling eldian people, why didn't eren controlled Reiner berthold and annie and stopped them from destroying the walls?, makes no sense this time travel path bullshit. and then you have falco bird titan bullshit aswell none of the 9 titan became birds, zeke spinal fluid making someone became bird titan makes no sense it came out of nowhere. Eren killing 80% of everything outside of the island just to back down in the last minute and let 20% alive, that definitely will take revenge in the future over all the killing by eren and the island, and then eren removing all titan powers from eldians that are the only advantage against everyone outside the island, makes no sense is very stupid. isayma copied code geass ending but in a dumb way. Erwin died for nothing , zeke actually had some good plan in comparison to eren that back down in last second, and floch was a hero. And eren is a cry baby piece of sh4t that was pretending to be a cold badass after the time skip, but in the end he saying to armin he doesn't want mikasa to ever forget him, f1ck off, never was confirmed that eren loved mikasa in that way and in the end he is crying like a baby over it. Just disappointing. AOT Should have ended in chapter 122 and 123. Eren uses the coordinate the walls falls colossal titans awaken, roll credits, the end. a open ending just like that.

@@bummiefanart5636 nobody expects eren to be a hero nor a chad, and I don’t care about shipping so erehisu is irrelevant, and I don’t have a problem with him being afraid of dying, in the cave with historia, he was in a life or death situation and he cried, and I thought it was done well.
I do have a problem with him specifically crying over mikasa, a girl whom he hadn’t shown any romantic interest throughout the whole show, the two never had any chemistry together, and for some reason it was shoehorned at the last minute, every time eren was in a life or death situation, he never thought about her. By the way, attacking people personally, which you did, means you lost the argument.
It’s a fairytale ending by AOT standards, eren’s friends lived long lives, Levi started a new life with his new friends, and I don’t really care for mikasa so whatever her future is is irrelevant to me.
I don’t care about chad eren, nor erehisu, what I care about is a cohesive, satisfying ending, which this one is not, not by a long shot.

erens plan involves convincing irrational racist who judge an entire race for the actions of a few from 100s of years ago that even tho an eldian proved their worst fears true tried and successfully killed 80% of the world population that because a few of them allegedly killed him and claim they don't have titan powers they can all be friends now anymore because marleyans and the outside world as a whole are known for giving eldians the benefit of the doubt of course not like eldians have been helping their military this whole time and it never changed their opinions on eldians if this story was "realistic" armin would have been shot point blank 💀
