Nice ideas! Instead of reverb, I like an always-on, background delay live, so I have mix and feedback controls for that delay block on the perform page. That along with high-cut like you mentioned are the two things that help me the most with tweaking for rooms and stages.
@@LeonTodd I’m a tap junkie nowadays, so i usually have it set to 1/8 notes for rhythm… then i balance the mix and fb until it sounds right for the situation. I lean toward a low mix (around 10%) and longer feedback (25-30%). I use the simple analog-style single delay block with highs rolled way back… pretty much a replicating what i did with a carbon copy in front of a dirty amp for years.
my home address in case the unit gets lost 😄 GATE threshold/ DLY mix usually but rarely need to touch things , the Output mode is really neat though, didn't think about that instead of different presets for mono/stereo
Man, that tip about mapping the sum L to R in the perform page is gold! That would be super useful, thanks. My perform page atm has reverb level, drive for pedals, delay level and that’s pretty much it - I use the global for amp controls like eq
Thanks I never knew this was a feature this is going to help so much for live tweaking . I will be using the Amp level and output levels to start with also like the Stereo to mono output possibilities . You have been such a great resource for me as I journey through Fractal World .Keep doing what you're doing thanks again great tone and great playing too !!
the Perform Page options are very useful.. the problem is lately I haven't left my studio with my AF3 to play out or even go to rehearsal.. so heck I don't know which ones I would pick.. LOL.. your choices make a ton of sense and are worthy of consideration though.. thanks LT!
i used to have a few things in the perform page (like the pitch bypass and the steps in virtual capo-useful in cover bands where they often change keys to songs to accommodate the singer)but since the gapless switching was implemented and in the fm3 most importantly it lost some of its convenience because if you jump between presets anything you have changed gets reverted back when you return
@LeonTodd - so I have a little conflict. I've set up the pitch controller to adjust the input trim on the amp block per your other video. At last week's gig, I needed to switch to my backup guitar which has humbuckers and signal was too hot. It would be great to have the input trim on a performance page but it's using the pitch controller automation. Is there an alternative place to globally adjust the amp's input trim on the performance page to tweak for single vs. humbucker pickups? Thanks!
@@LeonTodd I never realized how hot the pickups were in my PRS Core Swamp Ash Special compared to my Strat. I did end up turning up the physical output knob a little to compensate for the lower input but it's a perfect fix.
Hi Leon, does using the scene output for you solo boost not bother you that it's also reducing your delay trails when you switch back to scene 1 rather that using a volume, filter block or something similar after the amp block but before any post amp effects and then mapping the level of that block to the performance page?
We have two guitars in band. I use axe fx 3 and second guitarist use helix. i like to use some of stereo fx on my clean preset. What do you recommend for us? Stereo (L + R cable) or mono ( left only) for PA system live?
This was a 2fer vid. Got your live settings and tips on using the perform tab. Woot!🎉. BTW…where is the audio coming from in your vids, straight from your DAW or are you blending room mics too?
Cool! I’ve recreated your preset based on this vid, but it doesn’t sound nearly as thick, heavy and gnarly as it sounds on this vid. I’m going through a set of Adam Audio T7Vs from my AFX3 Mark II. Anything I might be missing?
Very cool. Can someone explain the stereo thing to me? I was at a rehearsal studio not too long ago. I brought a couple of xlrs and gave the sound guy both of them. He told me it wasn’t a stereo system. So I just gave him the left out xlr and went about my business. But it made me wonder why I could have just gone into two channels on the pa and panned each hard left and hard right. Wouldn’t that give me the stereo output for the effects etc? This may be a simple question but I really have no idea. lol. The whole stereo thing has confused me. I guess you can’t just use two xlrs and have each panned opposite sides. Thanks.
What are your thoughts on adding a compressor at the very end of your signal chain to smooth everything out and bring the guitar tone a bit more forward? I’ve seen this done on some other channels and wonder if it’s really worth doing.
Why put the OUTPUT 1 mode on the Per-Preset, doesn't that belong to the Global Performance section? (since it's a global parameter that AFAIK affects all presets anyway)
What do you put on the perform page?

@@sayhuhhhh I've been experimenting with this a little bit for a few cleaner patches - what sort of time/fb/mix are you using?

I use mostly use the pitch block, so If I need to drop my tuning quickly from E to D to C

Setting the boost to the output block is golden! Thanks!

Yeah bringing the output sum up front saves so much searching!
This is awesome. I had no idea this was a thing. Absolutely makes the quick adjust much more intuitive for the things you regularly need to touch.
Glad it was helpful!
What a great, informative video! You're always showing us the best tips. You're a clever man, Mr Todd! Thx.
Too kind!!
yes, always killer & no filler!!😀👍

Great Talent !!!! Thanks.
Congrats on the 100k subs!
Thank you!
Got my Fm3, its a huge improve, i love it.
Congrats 🎉
Great feature. Makes the device very handy.
Did not know this existed 🤯
Dam Leon , I loved that lick from 1.33 through 1.40 Honestly I just like to hear you jam n do these demonstrations !
Much appreciated mate!!

Cooper Carter just put a video out on this.
Use the input block out level :)

I actually like that it bumps the delay trails down, seeing as I usually like my rhythm tone pretty dry

No room in there, all DI

If the playback system isn't stereo (ie it sums everything to mono) that's no point providing two signals as they'll be summed anyway
Hey Leon, did you stopped using the PEQ for your volume boost and added EQ on yout solo scenes?
Yeah scene level and the cab high/low cut do a good enough job for me
Take my money...i cant take it anymore...i need one 🙈🤑🤟👍
What are your thoughts on adding a compressor at the very end of your signal chain to smooth everything out and bring the guitar tone a bit more forward? I’ve seen this done on some other channels and wonder if it’s really worth doing.
Works well for lower gain stuff IMO. You can use the amp block output comp too

That works too. Having it per preset means I don't have to page as far
Leon what speakers or amp are u using
recording DI, listening back on Adam A7X monitors
sick
Wait... FW 8.01 Beta !!!🤫

Yep bloody good can you teach a 53 year old 😮
no "g'day legends"? 😢
