I could break the like button on this one. This is so awesome!! You quoted Bauhaus, form follows function. This is a video that goes on the shelf like a good book that you refer to again and again.
I love this video. It talks about how to be an artist first and foremost. Concepts like big, medium and small shapes is key for creating art in general, for example. Another thing that I don't think it was mentioned but could've gone in the "details to add" part is USE REFERENCES! Take your own pictures of things you find cool is my prefered method. Of course you can also use pinterest and stuff but always from the real world. Try not to use other artists as reference in this case. IDK just my 2 cents!
Key fundamentals that a lot of people including myself miss when starting a project, especially when you're keen, it's good to have a set plan for everything you do!
You might have just literally saved my music video. I was losing my mind over how to pull off a number of different environments and this might be the solution.
I used Ducky's tutorials to learn the tools of Blender, but now that I am making my own artwork and game assets, you have become my favourite source of knowledge. Thank you for what you do man, you've really helped me grow!
This is very useful! My strategy will be to model out a custom basic shape for a scene/part of a scene, then create and add the props (that even includes primary layer geometry) to the scene in-engine as prefabs for easy variability and scripting functionality. I will also have the terrain editor around some of these scenes, of course.
How would you save a preset like the 2x2 cubes you showed in the video (E.g. what file format)? Would the file format have textures already present once imported or would you add or adjust these relative to different artwork you are producing at different times? I love your work by the way, you've inspired me to take up Blender and try my hand at art (I have always struggled with self expression) so thanks I suppose :)
Thanks , i listened Gleb Alexandrov and read Neil Blevins articles and this a must to know. this rule of the 3 level applies to all the arts "drawing - music ..... it is really interesting
A word I like as a synonym for immersive realism is versimilitude. It gets away from that awkward word "realism", which I think can bog things down a bit.
Excess of unnecesary detail is something so common in kitbash collections I've tried and discarded every one I was interested in. I've resorted to recreate the shapes and elements I like on my own. Slower but useful for fast improving.
I watched the "Create SciFi Corridor" videos you did. Very interesting. I was wondering how you applied detail? Did you take the mesh back to blender and re-placed it back in the scene? Or are they linked in any way? How is your workflow there?
Thank you for brilliant vedio. I want to know how you deal with things with thickness like wall and floor ? If I want to create 4m modular parts but with 20cm thickness, than floor may need 4m version, 3.8m version , 3.6m version. The same to other parts. Is there someway to deal with it whlile keep the kinds of model less ? Thanks.
Wow I had no idea episodes of blendernest came out.I been waiting for episode 2. In fact I see the views are low for the new ones. I think its title and thumbnail related. I do truly think that's content people want to see
Most informative 8 minutes thanks in regards to paid resources it says modular demo. Is it a complete design I maybe able to use or does it show how to make one? sorry I never bought any art.
Its strange that people in the CG world call Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary "secrets" of great art. Its something you learn in a high school art class that's applicable to everything design related. No secret. Just part of being a decent artist.
Great tool. I am a blender beginner and I want to use your addon in my robot cartoon animation in eevee. How can I make the appearance less realistic and more toon like? Would you give a tutorial on how to manga shading assets of this addon. Thank you.
The problem I have with creating things like this is that it's almost impossible to curve the walls. You need to keep panels straight yet the modular pieces refuse to bend around a curve without deformation.
Great! So…. let’s talk about the web address by the logo at the end. Specifically, the ideograms/symbols underneath. At first, I thought it was complex however the dot and the same ratio of character to ideograms/symbols suggests it's the address repeated. Confirmed as the O in online and Holt is the same... has anyone seen anything hidden elsewhere that we can use this to translate? (edited for spelling)
Not gonna lie, this is the most underrated CG channel i have seen
I've wanted to find a video that properly explains some key principles behind modular environments for years. This was amazing.
Excellent use of grid-snapping.

Oh nice: I'd love to see more information on how to best set up the files and structure to make a library of modules for reuse in Blender.
I'll make a note of that 🙂

Thank you so much, I'm happy you find my content useful 🙂
The best channel about blender. Really great polished videos.

Sounds good 👍
Absolutely brilliant video! Thanks for all the amazing resource links as well, both 3d and video!
just what i was searching for, get out of my head :D
Awesome as always, man!
I'm really enjoying your content, it's genuinely well thought out and considered, thanks.

Some nice tips here. Thank you.

Yeah it was obvious they were using the same module like legos, but didnt know how it was called, thank you

Bit confused - is this going to be a series, or is it a one off vid? (Not that I'm complaining either way ofc! :-P)
👌
damn your voice is so interesting( in a good way )
Thanks 😄

his voice sounds like TTS :D
Hah i learned that thing about detail from building stuff in minecraft lol

Ooh, maybe it's an ARG. You'll have to go through his other videos and look for other times he's used this cipher.
