I had overheard a few days ago that the project had been “canceled” and it sounded a little disappointing. But what they DID do is just top true fabulous! I’m not saying that we wouldn’t have enjoyed the film had they been able to carry out the original plan, but this is immensely impressive and satisfying for all the reasons you said!🖌️
Been waiting for that brustroke tool for so long that it makes me happy to see that it turned into such a complex addon with tons of customizability. I'd say Blender Studio has been worth every penny with the amount of resources it provides while also helping fund incredible projects like Gold. But it's also nice to know that the project will be continued independently outside of Blender Studio, so we might see the actual short film one day. 🖌
🖌Interesting to see a system built to be so richly parameterized. I've seen and used painterly tools for Blender before, but most of them have a more focused, less modifiable look to them. Of course, as with any tool that has so many sliders to tweak, it can be difficult to embrace the huge number of possibilities and break that down into specific, achievable effects. But this should prove fun to experiment with; just need to remember to save presets as I go when I achieve useful effects.
This is very interesting. A couple of years ago I became intrigued with the idea of textures that looked like they were painted, and there were some artists on TH-cam creating paint styles using the texture editor, but this really seems to have taken that much further with the implementation of geometry nodes. 🖌🎨
🖌 Super cool. But I think the race is on to find the next thing. Claydoh is great but then the 3D art space become over saturated with claymation style piece. For a while, painterly 3D was the new white whale, but I think it's likely that it will become over done.
What they've done is absolutely amazing but for me it is a shame the film was not fully realized, I understand and support their decision, but I still wish i could of seen the entire thing.
🖌 It's cool... but I really wish that Blender would address stuff lacking in core 3d functionality instead of seemingly putting most dev efforts into geo nodes and grease pencil (like baking and texture painting). I really want to be free of adobe :P
yeah i agree, texture painting doesn't even have layers, seems like the devs as a whole don't really see game assets or handpainted styles as worth their time
I have tried this kind of effect with vector paint a long time ago... but of course not procedural and also only possible with many subdivisions of the mesh ....

This is, in fact, exactly what I've been looking for. Really exciting stuff.
I cannot wait to 🖌play with this new version. The Project Gold has been some of the most exciting stuff so far for me - really in my wheelhouse.
Oh I'm going to have fun with this! Thanks for the video🖌
The Blender community is making amazing looking stuff! ❤🔥
This is the closest any software got to replicate the lovely look of Dreams. ¡This can be so much fun! 🖌
🖌 awesome work as always! this is exactly what I needed for my concept art
Holy Moly. This is incredible.
Cannot wait to have some time to really sit down with these tools. Thank you for covering this. 🖌
Very cool seeing the new features and this is something I will definitely be exploring as I love that painted style 🖌
I have wanted a tool like this for so long! So very excited. 👨🎨🖌️
🖌 Great video as always!
Very interested to check this out!
A drawing tablet is a must have tool for blender. The handdrawn nature of the quality of line is beautiful.
🖌 Excellent!

🖌️ been waiting for this.
the editing was very amazing, and the cracked effect is a game changer for my liking
Already downloaded the extension and played around with it, it's fantastic and i am definitely joining Blender studio so i can follow that guide. 🖌
🖌 Great stuff, playing around with it now...this is a reeaally cool extension!
Nice and thanks for the explanation. 🖌
So excited to get on this 🖌
I also LOVE breakdowns but this is not the only one showing it
What an amazing addon 🖌
🖌 Thank you! This is great info
👨🏾🎨 Great overview video.

🖌VERY COOL 🖌
We're in the best timeline for Blender (I wish I had tried more Blender in 2017) 🖌
Nice!
I use Houdini daily, and I love it and worked to make it so. But man I wish more studios here in Ireland were using Blender. So much fun to be had!
🖌Extension looks great, so did project Gold!🖌

Its very good project
So did they fully give up on the Gooseberry project? I remember it was meant to be a series of shorts featuring that sheep seeing alternate lives.
Since first Arcane was wondering how to achieve painterly look, maybe now. And 🖌️as always
🖌 thank you for the info I might make my star wars fan film with this for the backgrounds and grease pencil 2D for the characters. Jedi JEdi JEdi

Nice chair, I've got the same one.
My explosive paint brush 🎉
Anyone else getting errors trying to install the brush stroke addon? I'm running 4.1 so that might be it. It says the zip is packaged incorrectly.
🖌 yup made it
Is robotic arm related to blender project . .?
🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌
Amazing, it is better than Quillvr in what endings of render means... So great...
🎨
Was it rendered in cycles or Eevee
Cycles

Does Curtis keep saying "tentacle" or "technical"??
