You can’t imagine how much pleasure these videos and concerts have brought me this year, having been banned from travelling whilst on chemo. I feel as if I have been around Europe despite everything.
This proves that the Scott Brothers never sleep. Probably after catching a brief nap during the train ride home, Jonathan changed the oil in his car, weeded the garden, transcribed “La Mer” and then went to sleep. Congratulations and all best wishes for your Proms concert! You two are incredible!!
Congratulations on Jonathan's upcoming performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London. He seems very excited, especially about playing it again after 25 years. Wagner sounds incredible in rehearsal, it is a spectacular place and organ, and the organist is unbeatable. Good luck for that day and may you have a lot of fun!! Thanks for sharing with your followers!❤💖
Tom...you are so entertaining and incisive in these clips. You and your brother are a great team. Thanks for posting. Not doing too bad for two Manchester lads. 😊
Once again, you amaze us with another magnificent musical adventure!! From the splendor and grandeur of the Royal Albert Hall to that delicate little London Bridge beauty! Thanks!!
Well the rehearsals paid off Jonathan. Just returning from the FANTASTIC concert. I will have to listen to BBC sounds to hear if that accoustic 64 ft could be heard.
Wow, what an instrument! Of course, it takes a very professional organist to handle this one, and Jonathan you do it proud. 25 years since you first played at the Royal Albert Hall...that's quite a career, and you are going strong! Thank you, thank you, Tom, for bringing us these terrific videos and for sharing your stunning talents.
Waiting for the Tannhäuser Overture on this powerful organ ( I'll catch the concert on BBC3). And in the meantime we 'll meet again in Germany. Eine gute Flugreise. Kom gut nach Recklinghausen an. Lovely greetings to you Jonathan and Tom.
Ooooh, it's getting closer!! I love the RAH & in particular the organ of the RAH. It is my favourite organ & I am so sad that I can't make it to your Prom. I will most definitely be there in spirit though & I will be listening live. I never tire of listening to that magnificent instrument, particularly when Jonathan is playing it!! I watched the Halle Prom the other day - that was quite emotional. No prizes for guessing why that one appealed to me!!! Thanks for the London vlog. I'm counting down the days!! xx

WOW! Love the Royal Albert Hall. Especially the organ. When it makes your feet vibrate. 😊 pull all the stops out.😊 please. Amazing. Be careful the notes don't get stuck. Thank you. Love Janet xx
We went to see Olivier Latry play in 2019. The building shook. We look forward to hearing Jonathan play, this time with an audience in the hall, it was empty last time during covid
Incredibly excited, as a friend has got a couple of tickets. It will be my first time at the hall and I cannot think of a better concert to "break the fast".
Just listened to the Organ Prom. Brilliant choice of music showing off the amazing versatility of the instrument and skill of the organist! Loved the encore - Nessun Dorma (transcribed by Mr Scott) which just worked so well! From the applause, sounds like the audience loved it too!
It will certainly be an incredible and unforgettable concert on this immense organ! I'll try to watch it on the BBC. Thank you both for the beautiful video! ❤❤
One of my most memorable experiences whilst attending Imperial Collage was its proximity to The Royal Albert Hall. The Proms, the concerts (classical and pop) and a host other varied events were truly earth shatteringly magnificent. Combine this with the museums of natural history, technology, the Mormon tabernacle, the organ and ballet schools and Hyde Park, all but a stone’s throw away, and let’s not forget Knightsbridge and Kensington Palace, and you’re in an unparalleled universe! And to hear the majestic powerful organ resonate! It’s surreal!
I am completely blown away. I would love to hear this organ live, played by Jonathan of course. And together with the HM Royal Marines Band. Yes, one can still have dreams.
This meant so much to me! I played organ many years ago at school (did grade 4 there). I've also been to the RAH many times, particularly to see film music performed as that's an interest of mine. But this tour of the organ was such an nice experience. Thank you so much, and I hope you enjoy your prom concert :)
I have tickets for myself and my sister-in-law. The last time I heard this organ live was just after the rebuild @2004 in the San Saen's organ symphony.
Я давно пыталась представить себе это место в котором Вы будете давать концерт , но моего воображения было недостаточно , а вы взяли и показали этот роскошный концертный зал . Мне было очень интересно это увидеть , спасибо ❤ !!!
BRILLIANT ! I'd LOVE to have a go on the Royal Albert Hall Organ - on my bucket list, but I fear it will never happen as I'm almost 70 and time is running out ! Take care 🙂
What a nice Vlog. Interesting to learn more about the Royal Albert Hall instrument and also hear of the Bank Station public instrument too ! Thank you both for uploading this .
🎹🎶💯👍👏 Congratulations. Terrific Prom this morning, as ever, Jonathan. So much better too that you were able to introduce the pieces yourself as opposed to the BBC anouncer you had to deal with for your concert during covid, who clearly hadn't a clue about what she was talking about!!
Die großen Prospekt Pfeifen sind wahre ofenrohre. Eine gewaltige Orgel, die über sehr viele Klangfarben verfügt Vielen Dank für dieses interessante Video 😀😀👍👍👍
Until Saturday a week ago I had never heard the similar size organ in the Whitgift Centre, Croydon played, but that day there was a young boy playing it. Have any others been installed in London?
Glad the train service to and from Euston appeared to be behaving itself! Very best of luck for Saturday. Hope to attend your recital on the amazing Hereford Cathedral machine soon.
I have just bought my ticket and will be sitting up in the East Choir only years away from the organ and you. I am so excited and can hardly wait. I hope you will have time to sleep between now and then.
Our school 3 manual organ by Cooper Gill & Tompkins has a magnificent 16 ft Ophicleide, really beefs up the pedal section with a 32 open wood to lend foundation. The school is St John's College, Johannesburg.
I love the RAH Organ. I was lucky enough to buy a copy of the RAH Virtual VST library that was produced and distributed for retail sale. It's limited - I mean there was NO way they could sample the whole thing. But it was sampled during COVID months, with great care to cover a wide wide range of the stops from sweet and quite to roaringly powerful. I can't wait to get my set up finished so I can plug into that and play with it on three manuals with my short limited pedal board. But what an incredible instrument. 9,999 pipes - always made me wonder WHY they didn't just add ONE more pipe for a nice round 10K!! Seems simple enough. LOL!! Anyway another great demonstration of an incredible instrument and one I sincerely appreciate. Thanks gents for sharing this cool video - once again. CHEERY BYE!!
To those who would dare to drag me to Royal Albert Hall. Forget about it. I will end up dragging you. Cream helped make my introduction in 2005- at precisely the same moment I was graduating from college in Michigan.
I do hope that you will record this BBC Proms concert for those of us who do not reside in England. I have heard some amazing orchestral pieces played at the Proms in Royal Albert Hall. From an organists point of view the organ has a major flaw and that is of terrible acoustics from the bench. Its incredible to me that in the 2003-4 rebuild (which cost a couple of million) no mobile console was added so that the organist can be down on the floor with the orchestra and concert piano. The placement of the only console means that a lot of the sound goes out over the head of the organist.
@@epincion A mobile console positioned further away from the case would be useful. I suppose it all comes down to cost. As you say the rebuild of 2002-04 was expensive and was close to £3 million. Perhaps one day the RAH authorities may consider this.
Fantastic, thanks for sharing. Am I right in thinking that, since the rebuild, this instrument just pips Liverpool Anglican Cathedral to be the largest in the country?
Hello, after the rebuild in 2002-04, the RAH organ was the largest organ by number of pipes in the UK, with either 9,997 or 9,999 pipes. The exact number of pipes is a bit of a mystery, as there are conflicting sources of information for the exact number. Some sources cite 9,999 pipes, others including the organ builder John Mander who rebuilt the organ cite 9,997 pipes. The number of pipes increased in the rebuild due to the addition of the IV rank quint mixture on the Great Secondary division. However, with new additions to the Liverpool Anglican cathedral since 2004, this is now the largest organ by number of pipes with 10,226 pipes. Hope that helps.
