Just like every other “free” outlet… used to be the cable tv: “commercial-free” if you’re paying monthly… look where THAT got to!! They’re ALL “Jones-ing” to get you to PAY (dearly in some cases) to get uninterrupted whatever-it-is full service… Twitter, you have to “pay” for a blue check, I heard… I’m not on any of the platforms.. waiting to hear the news that FB will pull something like that.. maybe they DO… Down the road, the annual ad-free subscription will also water down to where we’re at now… Don’t worry.. it’s all coming… In the meantime, I hate it just as much as the OP…. Glad you chimed in…
possibly the best finale of any classical piece!! Stunning, powerful and passionate , Saint=Saens was a genius!! Never fails to move the spirit and emotions soar!!
I think Anna is bringing a lot more watchers and listeners to orchestral music. I don't doubt that the orchestral players feel she gets a lot of the limelight however

There are precious few halls in the world that have organs that can showcase this piece as well as the Royal Albert Hall. This was a stunning recording. Well done!
as much as I liked the movie „Babe“ - the claim that the movie made this music famous is absolutely ridiculous! This masterpiece was famous for about 110 years before the movie appeared!!!!!
This NEVER ceases to move me, every time I replay it. I am so grateful to the producers of that wonderful little film, "Babe" for introducing me to this piece. Wow. Superbly done.

As a student in the mid 90s we went to a local cinema on a Saturday afternoon to watch it, and audience was full of kids …. their reactions made the whole experience! But yep, decades later I find out tonight that Saint-Saens had a big hand in the magic 😅

CFM mentioned "Babe" in the blurb, but I, and I'm sure a few others, remember this being re-imagined into the song "If I Had Words" by Yvonne Keeley and Scott Fitzgerald, back in the 70s. That was my introduction to the immortal music of Saint-Saens, and he has become one of my favourite composers. This piece superbly played by the BSO and Ms. Lapwood (and her sparkly jacket). Wonderful.
Wonderful, of course, but I personally miss this done, live. The overwhelming power; the audience is impacted by the incredible physicality of being there.

I have been to two of these Classic FM concerts at the Royal Albert Hall and will never do so again. Some idiot producer and sound engineer think that a full size professional orchestra playing in a concert hall designed for that purpose need to have microphones all over the place and pumped through the auditorium speakers. You therefore don't hear the orchestra live, but the sound engineer's interpretation, which, as this recording proves, is seriously badly mixed. OK have mics to record the concert, but there is absolutely no need for additional amplification within the hall.

I don’t think the composer was thinking about a pig getting chased when he wrote this piece! It’s the horse galloping again ! Handel has the same rhythm in some of the water music and Rossini with the William Tell overture! No doubt there will be many morel Fraser ❤❤❤
Absolutely superb - I seemed to have dodged the advert someone else mentioned thankfully. Why TH-cam can't do what another Company does by putting all the ads at the beginning I really am at a loss to know.
The part for the piano must be extremely difficult to play as it requires 2 pianists or 4 hands to play it ! It’s a great piece that we love! Anna handles the beast with ease and let’s the basic chords roar out of it! Orchestra handles the quiet dynamics up to the crescendo at the end where the percussion goes mental with thunder, cymbals crashing , with so much air coming out of the beast it nearly blows the orchestra away! It ends on a C chord I think with the 32 foot pipes absolutely roaring! Well done orchestra with Anna under the baton of (forgot his name) sorry!😅 Fraser/Elsa ❤❤❤ forever your fans !
I believe comments are because they think the performers deserve a better recording quality to match the beauty of the music they practiced so hard to present.
There always has to be at least one in a crowd of many whom couldn't find satisfaction nor happiness even if they found a treasure trove in their own gardens.
IMHO, not a TH-cam problem. All too close mic'd for my taste and no Hall atmos, so a very claustrophobic sound. Much better with added Altiverb. I don't have a RAH sample, but with Berlin Philharmonie it sounds way better!

I saw a press review of this concert and the reviewer commented on the poor sound in the hall. The Bournemouth SO is a decent orchestra but it isn't the Vienna Philharmonic!
If you want an ending that doesn’t, try Hausegger’s Nature symphony. I’ve always found the last 3-4 minutes of Havergal Brian’s totally bonkers Gothic Symphony quite effective.
Odd to make a recording of this which completely cancels the vast acoustics of the Royal Albert Hall - the orchestra sounds like it is in my living room! Surely a middle way could be found…?

Albert hall got huge acoustic absorbers fitted up in the dome to stop resonance and improve the overall acoustics! Fraser/Elsa ❤❤❤
