You've built up your character throughout the game, becoming stronger, faster, a jedi knight. But when Darth Vader appears, you realize just how insignificant you are to him.
That entire wave fight against all the storm troopers and purge troopers and security droids? That may be a tough fight for cal here, but vader would have done that within a minute.

“Escape is the only chance of survival” Darth Vader might as well be the Grim Reaper in this universe, but even Death himself isn’t anywhere near as brutal or as unforgiving as Darth Vader. He is supposed to be the MOST feared being in the entire galaxy and if you don’t escape, you ARE dead. This is almost a perfect portrayal, you can tell that everyone in that room was paralyzed with fear.
Fun fact, it is said that if Vader didn't get his injuries he could've literally potentially gained enough power to have the embodiments of the force(celestials or some shit) bow to his will
That Trilla fight was dog shit, bitch summoned a droid for no reason and keeps twirling that double saber around making it hard to judge party timing. Worse fight in the game.
The voice actor for Cal is incredible, the way he says "Yeah, probably" with that little wobble in his voice? You can tell Cal is terrified and knows he's probably going to die, but he'll never give up or give in to the dark side
@Undiscovered667 can I blame him ... no ? But I can say that killing all those fallen jedi because they fall to the dark side in the meantime, giving in to the power of the dark side himself becomes a bit hypocritical. For example, killing the 9th sister with the text "it's time to set you free" .
Blacktop_Shady OK in fairness when is he not portrayed like a bad ass. The only times I can think is in the comics and that’s only because he hasn’t learned to deal with his limitations(his clunky armor. @@empireyouth5791 In Force Unleashed Galen Marek bitchslapped Vader several times and in Rebels he is about as much of a threat as the average stormtrooper
@@inspectorbutters166 ??? Darth Vader pretty much single-handedly crushed the rebels whenever he appeared in Star Wars: Rebels. To the point, that he took on an entire fleet on his own and forced them to retreat. And even when he was purposely trying to let them escape, he nearly killed one or two of them. And the only one that even slowed him down was Ahsoka. And Galen Marek was always one of the most boringly OP characters anyway.
I love how the recent canon has been highlighting how Vader was almost a mythical figure who people weren’t even sure existed. They never even utter his name in the ending. Cere just says “it’s him.” I love the simplicity of Vader’s movements as well- his power is just effortless.
Even the description of him in the game paints him as mysterious. I'm sure arpund the time of rpgue one more rebels knew of Vader but Cere mentions him earlier in the game but only says "a man in dark armour" or something along those lines.
If they did one thing right in the recent years of Star Wars, is that they made Vader a freaking monster. Like truly you don't want to be in the same area as him.
This is also the first real glimpses we're seeing of Vader is his absolute prime, before he starts to have his internal struggle in the OT that weaken him, or the other instances in the OT when he's purposefully holding back.
Being told Killing his wife Padme and losing everything else and believing it. Nothing mattered anymore but the Dark side. This was Vader in his ultimate state.
Makes a lot of sense really. When angry Darth Vader appears unlike in any other Star Wars game, if you get caught by him here even just once it's all over! (like in Resident Evil, even if without the blood and gore)
@@twichytail No it's not. @@nobodyhere4675 I honestly think that’s the best thing about the game. Playing as a total badass like Starkiller is great and all but there’s just a special charm to being a Jedi of average skill. It almost cements the otherworldly nature of these beloved characters. The understanding that you are nothing compared to experienced Force Users like Vader, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Maul or even less experienced warriors like Kanan serves to sort of humble you in realizing that out of the mere dozens of Force users that survived Order 66 your just another Jedi trying to survive in a hostile Galaxy of Great Danger.
@@77Productions77 I use to do deep dives into star wars stuff back in the day. But the jedi in the battle of Geonosis is a great example of what you're talking about. The jedi strike team believed that any resistance on the planet would scatter or surrender when more than 200 jedi activated their lightsabers. But of course we know what happened once things started to pop off. The geonoshins began using their sonic weapons and they had the advantage of flight. And the newly assembled and massive Droid army was unleashed on the jedi. Which is why right before yoda and the clones arrive only a handful of the best of the best survived. I wonder if in the aftermath the jedi realized they grossly overestimated their abilities to handle actual combat.
They do a long thing in the sequels about how physical impact over lightyears distance is only possible via an intricate arcane procedure. Vader kills a man several lightyears away by choking him out in Empire, because the rules don't apply to 'menace'.
Actually that was a reference to an earlier scene. Cere was talking to Cal about her torture by the empire and how nothing managed to break her until “he” came, a shadow.
TheLordVallon My little cousin has just gotten into Star Wars and never truly knew how terrifying Darth Vader was because of the limitations of the original trilogy. Stuff like Rogue One and Fallen Order has made her understand haha
Also bringing in the fact that he never chose to flat out kill Luke or the gang on those occassions we see him fight them. Cause if he wanted to he would have easily.
This scene with Vader is probably better than any fight would've been, because at least 99.99% of the galaxy is absolutely terrified of him, why wouldn't Cal be?
Danny Boy I’m not even on this part yet and I would have done the same thing Nigga this ain’t no Star Wars episode lol you got me fucked up I ain’t Luke skywalker
The tactical guide log for him is nightmare fuel. “Few have encountered the strongest Sith in the Galaxy and survived. Escape is the only hope for survival.”
Even Sidious said that Vader was stronger than him and Yoda but that was before he got his injuries in Mustafar and before he got his replacement limbs. If his suit and limbs were replaced so that it could withstand sidious's force lightning, lighter and made from a more durable material he would have been far stronger
For those who don't know, Sidious purposely made Vader's suit with obsolete tech and weaknesses so Vader couldn't overpower him. The material his suit is made from is also a very good conductor of electricity, which made Sidious' lightning even more deadly to him. Sidious didn't want to abide by the rule of two, he wanted the galaxy for himself forever.
I really love how detailed Trilla’s mimic is: you can see and even sense how angry she is when she fights and how much she’s terrified when Darth Vader, literally her doom and her nightmare arrives. The way her eyes open wider when she says her last words as she understands that she will 100% die is just an amazing animation work
I just came to notice something, and I am not sure if I am correct. Notice just a second after Vader lands (Not on the platform trilla stands on, but at the beginning of his arrival), there's this "Thumm" noise, like the ones you hear when someone is being "Force choked"?. But, as soon as Trilla is cut you hear it go away into the music that appears. If its true, the whole "Why didn't Cal just pull Trilla to him with the force" argument is now answered. She was literally held in place by Darth Vader. It gave me the whole Sleep paralysis feeling when I guess I "realised", because how do you walk away from a sense of doom and nightmare
To this day, all these years later, "Anakin's Dark Deeds" remains the quintessential theme for dramatic Star Wars scenes. Truth be told, I don't think it will ever be topped.
@@abominationtheguy6790 I don't think any of the prequel soundtracks is underrated, least of all the tracks from Episode III. They are just so commonly used in other Star Wars media such as games, official and fanmade videos, Star Wars events, you name it. Even the most die-hard prequel haters would probably agree that John Williams was at the top of his game when composing for Episode III.
Imperial march us for the Empire over all, it just so happens it was used with Vader and now everyone calls it vaders theme. This felt much more personal to anakin/Vader and I loved it.
I want to point out two things. 1) This whole phase where Vader is one handing Cere is much in tuned with his current portrayal, and I love it. He could literally take a Jedi Knight or a hallway of gunmen with one hand behind his back. 2) that look of fear on everyone’s face is a lot with the sound of his walk and the look, but I think canonically Vader is so in deep with the Dark Side, he generates an aura of fear and dread that would make anyone untrained to panic, fight on instinct, or run for their lives.
@@kaliyuga1476Lots of people are capable of holding Vader back. That doesnt make him weak or the portrayal bad, it just means they can temporarily not immediately die. Simple as.

Can we take a moment to admire how good the Vader voice was? I feel like this is as close as you get to James Earl Jones original voice so props to the actor
The way Second Sister starts to shake almost as if she's being choked by fear and death, absolutely chilling. Vader killed her immediately and then casually yeets Cere into a void, then the line to Cal is just icing on top. Absolutely perfect.
I think she is, you can hear Vader's footsteps if you listen right after she forgives Cere. Then the footsteps, and she immediately goes rigid. Vader was holding her in place with the force from that point on. He had already decided to kill her, he just had to make his entrance first.
It is in fact a powerful Darkside force ability both applicable and strong enough to surround a user. Its levels of strength go from Force Fear -> Force Horror -> Force Insanity. Based on what we're seeing here, it is likely Vader's surrounded himself with a layer of Force Fear or potentially Horror where Cal and Cere are being moderately affected and Trilla was petrified.
@Tanner Goodman There would be no Vader if Qui Gon survived. Qui Gon would be a better master than Obi Wan, listening to Anakin and helping him save his mother, inturn gaining his trust in him and the jedi order. Qui Gon would’ve been the father Anakin never had.

This, in a way, shows why Darth Vader is the greatest villain of all time. No introduction, no backstory, no foreshadowing. Just breathing. When you see fans getting hyped as hell and cheering for this tiny scene, you know the character is the best.
I love that everyone is clearly trying their hardest, but Vader is just making simple movements, and only using one hand. I just shows how strong he really is
They followed the lore which I liked cuz in the comics and books it explains the Emperor deliberately sabotaged his armor and he adapted his fighting style around the suit to use minimal movement to achieve his goals
Vader casually holding back the water, billions of tons of pressure. I this is by far one of the best portrayals of Vader. He’s Brolic AF and is designed perfectly. He exhibits raw power. I’ve been watching this video at least once a month since early 2020 and it helped scratch the itch many times while waiting for new Star Wars content to release on Disney.
That's not how water pressure works. Or else the glass walls wouldn't have been able to hold it back. The entire ocean isn't pushing on the spot. It is still a lot of pressure, but probably closer to holding back a hydralic press...

I think a big part of that is that you know that he EARNED all that freaking power through his sheer suffering and discipline .( like a war veteran space samurai ...that he actually is )
@@DrPinkieDie i am not shure if anyone ever saw him as as big a threat as Vader. From a plot point of view maybe. "bad guy goes good" is the only thing that makes those two characters seem conectet. Kylo is more of a try hard edgelord, he is always trying to be vader but he never succedes because, ironicly, he is driven by emotins.
I think Vader derives his sense of humor from using other people’s words against them. He knows how menacing he is, and when people stand before him they get desperate and try to talk their way out of the confrontation. But Vader is as quick with his wit as he is with his blade. You better hope he lets you walk when he’s done with you; hopefully you didn’t talk yourself into a corner that you’ll have no chance of escaping from.
Everyone tends to forget that Vader is quite literally one of the strongest offensive lightsaber duelists in history of Star Wars. This takes place only three years after Order 66, meaning he's still only 25 in this encounter which is to be believed the time where he was in his prime with the suit on. His lightsaber skills were only bested by the best of defense, which would've been Kenobi. Even then his midichlorian count was the highest in existence, his connection to the force was unparalleled, only second to Yoda. The way you see the fear in Cal's face when Vader begins to dismantle the room into individual pieces and starts hurling them truly goes to show how much of a force he is to be reckoned with. Kestis would not have stood even the smallest chance against him. Not even a little bit.
Actually, no. Vader wasn’t in his prime during this time. His prime was actually in ROTJ where George Lucas stated that point in time he was the strongest
@@Weaver1-s4k I'm afraid that's not how it works, he may not be agile anymore, but that has little to do with his connection with the force, in this game, he is far stronger than he was during the clone wars, and you can quite literally see that his use of the saber is not flashy anymore, neither does he waste any moves or make unnecessary efforts, because he has no need to do so. The books explain more and give a deeper insight of the sithlord that is Darth Vader.
I absolutely love how, even after Cal just parkours through the place being pulled apart and him obviously so much more agile than vader, he gets to the lift and he’s RIGHT THERE
This was about the least interesting way to do it. Darth Vader didn't kill me, the game did. Why not actually make him fast and strong enough to overwhelm me? What if he could counterattack against a perfect dodge, or drain my block stamina with way too many attacks?
@@Mochic45 He can be an unstoppable force. Just show me. Fade to black is not death by vader, it's death by contrived game script. Also, Obi Wan had the weakest connection to the force in the Jedi Order and could still hold his own against the Chosen One. So the whole idea that Cal can never fight Vader is not supported by lore.
(6:34) I think my favorite part of this whole scene was the implication that BD-1 had to scan Vader and update the tactical guide while Cal was trying not to die.
His entrance gave me goosebumps!! The look at Trilla’s face as she hears his footsteps, she’s sobbing, she’s terrified knowing she failed and how scary he is
Jalen Scott That’s the beauty of this game. Cal learned to trust in the Force while also not fearing failure at the same time, but Trilla’s life had come to the point where she feared failure at every second because it truly meant an end in the dark side.
Something I read a while ago is that when Vader uses one hand to fight, he isn't really trying that much. When he switches to two handing the saber, then he is completely focus on his opponent.
@@Ironica82Thats not why Vader uses one hand due to his limitations..... one hand doesnt mean lack of effort it is a form Form 2, Dooku made this form famous for us all, its a fencing more english style but Vader is more pratical without the flair or an English swordsman, something akin to Connor Kenway vs his father Haytham Vader had to mix in forms to make his own Vader otherwise would use form 5 if not hindered
@@Ironica82When Vader isnt trying he doesnt even pull out his saber If this was more accurate Vader wouldve never even used his Saber on Cal here, as Cal isnt near ready yet...... Reva wasnt even worth it either

Yes. In the comics he fought against Vader and he was easily defeated. If not for his master intervening, Vader would have killed the Grand Inquisitor.
That Stab was a stroke of GENIUS. A perfect showing that Cal's kit and friends do make him above average, even able to land a single weak hit on the Dark Lord himself. But Lord Vader's power can even defeat the Combined power of Cal, his friend, and his adaptability. It shows cal as the above average Jedi he is and his amazing talent in adaptability, but that even someone Above the Average isn't enough to even slow Vader down fully.
@@filipbitala2624 Cal was holding the other side with the force. Think of the force grab like an invisible hand. Cal's hand was over the switch for that blade, but Vader's was on the switch for that side. So he just... Spun it.
IMO, this is one of the few things that modern Star Wars media and canon has gotten right when compared to the original trilogy: Vader's power level. He truly seems like an unstoppable force of nature in this game, the comics and Rogue One.
Reminds me of a moment in the comics after Disney/Marvel rebooted them. Vader crashes on a barren planet home to a full Rebel base. Surrounded by easily 100+ soldiers and vehicles, one of them says "Put your weapon down, we have you surrounded." He calmly responds "All I am surrounded by is fear..........and dead men." Lightsaber clicks on, he proceeds to mercilessly kill them all without a single scratch.
I like this one especially cuz, physically he's really not that great. Just kinda slow and lumbering, as if most of him is just clunky machines. But obviously he's really strong in the Force.
Yup that's definite something Canon has over legends as I always hated how Vader was down graded as being weak or a toy to amuse Palpatine and not an unstoppable Sith lord he should have always been.
It was so cool to hear Anakin's Dark Deed here, because I heard before I saw Vader. I could hear the breathing, but didn't dare think that it was the greatest villain of all time, so I absolutely went insane with my friend when he appeared. Thank you Respawn for bringing my childhood back to me.

Takaya Muramoto how the absolute worse situation if palptine shows up with light saber and Vader also abeloth shows up together then yeah your screwed in that situation I wouldn’t even try to run.
People say that since his limbs got cut off he was therefore weaker than he could have been since the midochlorian count went down, but wouldn’t it not have made a difference if it was in his blood? I mean by that logic yoda would’ve been really weak with the force since he was small and had much less midochlorians due to having a small body mass.
One thing I love about his introduction is he isn’t just intimidating in an ‘evil’ or ‘villainous’ way. This moment is about Trilla finally expressing how much emotional pain she’s in, as well as Cere (and Cal for that matter) throughout the story. But the way Vader enters, the music, the emptiness in his eyes, it’s as if these characters realise they haven’t experience a fraction of his pain, and he is ready to unleash it

Ten seconds in the fight and vader already brought u to your knees Lmao
This was about the least interesting way to do it. Darth Vader didn't kill me, the game did. Why not actually make him fast and strong enough to overwhelm me? What if he could counterattack against a perfect dodge, or drain my block stamina with way too many attacks?

The look at Trilla’s face as she hears his footsteps, she’s sobbing, she’s terrified knowing she failed and how scary he is
Jalen Scott That’s the beauty of this game. Cal learned to trust in the Force while also not fearing failure at the same time, but Trilla’s life had come to the point where she feared failure at every second because it truly meant an end in the dark side.
Same here..his entrance was outstanding
This man beat the crap out of ALL of the inquisitiors in the comics. So yeah she’s scared alright.
What a amazing detail Trilla gave

Something I read a while ago is that when Vader uses one hand to fight, he isn't really trying that much. When he switches to two handing the saber, then he is completely focus on his opponent.
@@Ironica82Thats not why
Vader uses one hand due to his limitations.....
one hand doesnt mean lack of effort
it is a form
Form 2, Dooku made this form famous for us all, its a fencing more english style but Vader is more pratical without the flair or an English swordsman, something akin to Connor Kenway vs his father Haytham

@@bemasaberwyn55 it’s low budget kids show, what did you expect

Isn’t it weird to think that someone like him would become Vader like it’s unexpected.
