this is a very unique guitar which You have to love to own i thin. i would love to have an Albert Lee models, Ernie Ball guitars a bit to expensive/...not worth the cash in my books. Most important: a lovely YT video as always!
Thanks! Yeah it’s absolutely a bit of a marmite guitar, you either love it or hate it! I agree too that MM guitars are on the high end price wise, it’s close to custom shop prices for some of the other brands and right smack in custom shop prices for some of the smaller builders. They do make excellent guitars though.
@JasonWharton82 indeed, absolute great guitars. It is always personal preference and i ended up with "mid" guitars which i really like but also don't worry to much about. i guess i was just amazed by the guitars You traded. On the other hand, You can only play one at a time... :)
For the tone and volume train of thought, I want to mod my sterling mariposa to utilized the stacked knobs as one would find on a Fender bass or Danelectro. This would prevent the need of routing out extra holes in the top
@@JasonWharton82 oh wow. Didn’t know that. I love it when u get some good ol crunch tones going. It sounds HUGE. Worth the buy ppl ! Me and Jason promise!
@@JasonWharton82seems we have similar taste in tone… so id say seth lovers or something similar. Unpotted PAF type pickup maybe go with a set where the bridge is overwound to take it into abit more modern sounds when required. Or actually…. Leave them and do the wiring mods first - ive been shocked before at how much that can change the pups sound alone. And its the cheaper thing to do first lol
@Paul-D yeah I was thinking something PAF like, I’ll have to replace them if I want to be able to split the coils though as they are only 2 wire pickups.
I traded like 6 guitars for believe it or not a HSS player Strat.... Almost all of those were Goldie lockes neck to wide, flat or to narrow.... So they didn't get played, the player Strat does. Of course being a geek I had to put hand wound pickups in it ...😂 But I use it must every day ..or The Revstar RSS20 now there's another webinar 😂
That was easier said than done with this one, when I was looking there were no used ones in the UK and only two new ones available in the entirety of the UK.
@@JasonWharton82 Totally understand. In the U.S. the supply is readily available. Once you are hooked on the second hand market there is to turning back! I was interested in the Mariposa because of its shape (plus the Sahara Sunset and Trans Black look stunning) but the lack of features in the electronics is a turn off. I know it’s an sig model but lack of boost or split is a deal breaker. Great unbiased review.

@@unseenjungle5386yeah it was a tough decision but one I’m fairly sure I won’t regret long term 😂

I’m not a big tone control user myself anyway to be honest, I have started with the pickup change though.
@@JasonWharton82 what pickups did you go with Jason?
oh sorry I just saw your video!
There’s some twists and turns to the story, I’m working on part 2….
Really cool guitar ❤
It really is great! Thanks for watching!
My buddy was one. It sounds amazing. And the neck is great. Waiting on my stingray to show up!
It’s such a great guitar, so glad I went for it as it’s nearly impossible to get here in the UK.

Stingrays are awesome guitars, slap it through a Greer Southland
The Mariposa is a beauty. Glad you’re still loving it.
Yeah it really is something special!
I would 100% rip it all out and go master volume and master tone - with a push push on the tone pot if you want your split option
I’m certainly tempted, just don’t know what to go for pickup wise tbh

@@888jimm6 for a player Strat?! What guitars were they?
I'm glad you're still enjoying it gent, it's a very you guitar 👍
It’s a keeper 🙂
Musicman guitars are great but make sure you get them used in mint condition or ask for a discount when calling your favorite online music store.
