More proof that these guitars can produce a wide variety of sounds, as much as any guitar. The sounds are its own, so it takes you to different places. Thanks for the beautiful tones and taking the Rick forward not backward. Reminds me of the Church (rock band).
I love listening to Rickenbacker 12s. I think what I should do is to save up, so that I'm ready to spring, when the right one comes along. I also believe that you really should audition each prospective buy, because there can be notable variations between different candidates.
I owned a 1980 360/12 mapleglow I wish I never sold... man, what a piece of art. I also owned a 1976 320 3/4 scale white which is very rare. Wish I had that one too. Man, they make such great guitars. I watch all the guitar guys on YT rant and rave over some PRS Strat copy and think "Um.. want a real American unique guitar? Get a Rickenbacker!" but they never discuss them.
To humorusout, look up you 12 string Rick's on internet. It will show on a rick as well as any 12 it's always skinny on top and big string on bottom. As to the person it's rickenbacker not rickenbacher, listen to a English man say it, it comes out sounding like bacher because of their accent.
I bought a 360 6-string and use a 12-string simulator pedal. It's much more flexible. 1/2 the tuning problems and easier to play. Also easier to sell if need be.
I have a 1971 36/6 Deluxe I bought new, in 1971... The main differences between our guitars besides 6 less strings, is mine has the "transitional" hi gain pickups, not the toasters, it's a natural maple finish, and the binding is chequered, not solid. There was a bridge cover but that was taken of years ago or you count mute the strings. I have played it consistently since I owned it, yet the frets are still excellent . The "R" tailpiece, however, is a pain in the bum to change strings, I had a 360 12 string, and that was one fo the reasons I got rid of it...! Despite the long string length, and the fact I use 10-46 strings, it still plays with a very high touch, the skinny and narrow neck you just get used to ...lol Have played everything except high gain metal on it, too much feedback.. That's the Rick in my meme
Rickenbacker has ways of confounding their customers. For decades they varnished and clear coated their fingerboards with a distinctive shiny finish. I recently ordered a new Jetglo 360 12 string with toaster pick-ups. Upon receiving it and opening the case I discovered that the fingerboard was natural and unfinished. The Ric was still beautiful but without the classic shiny fingerboard. I found that for some reason Rickenbacker decided to stop varnishing some models fingerboards last year.
august of 2021 they stopped lacquering their fretboards, most people seem to be either indifferent or disliking the lacquered fretboards, so im sure the vintage reissues will still have them.
@@Jeffcatbuckeye "If", this is true, Rickenbacker confounds me again! I wait 50 years to buy a Rickenbacker 360 and it arrives with an unlacquered fingerboard. Anyplace I can confirm they're lacquering again?
@@AnthonyBurrito1313 it’s not really necessary in my opinion. If you were really striving for perfect intonation, a 10 saddle bridge would be more correct as 2 pairs of the strings are doubles.
Not only is the 12 piece bridge a repro,so are the repro toaster pickups. Rick pickups of that time were the harsh sounding "button" pickups. Rickenbacker continues to use these cheap, harsh sounding pickups on their beautiful handcrafted guitars. Go figure.
Jim Ferris That's not true, the 360 and 330 and a normal set neck design. Only the 4001/3 and the 620 are neck through. Also I believe the 360/330 are fully hollow; they are made from a single block of maple routed out from the back, selectively leaving behind wood to act as bracing, I just don't remember if it has separate chambers or if it is all openly connected inside. Either way it lacks a centre block going through it for sustain like a normal semi-hollow.

Beautiful girl ! Lovely sound !

Need her so much.
Jetglow+toasters+12saddlesbridge: exactly like I see her in my wet dreams.

Excellent! Fabulous sound and real fine playing!

Sounds like a splendid instrument!
As is your beautiful Rick..!

Lasted for a brief while. They are already back to lacquering ALL of the guitar fretboards again. It was very short lived.

wooo very nice thats the RIGHT pick up's
Agreed. I've passed on 3 otherwise lovely Rics, simply because they didn't have toasters...
Great video, thank you :)
The Rickey Jangle!
12 way intonation on the bridge? Must be a retrofit.
That's a must do upgrade trust me

This is great. I'm wondering what delay/reverb you're playing through. It sounds beautiful.
Thanks man! I used a Strymon Timeline tape delay sound paired with the reverb from my Fender Supersonic
It’s RickenBACKer, not RickenBACHer. Plus the pickups are not original. They would have been High Gains in 1977.

Great camera. Nicely edited video. Reason not to have more views or subs. I’ll sub.
Much, much appreciated. Humble beginnings and such I suppose
what songs is he playing?
Hmmm.... Cocteau Twins?
Someone strung it backwards. Supposed to be thin string on top and bigger string on bottom.
Not on Rickenbackers, only 12 string where the heavier strings are on top. The nuts are cut like that as well.
Why on earth do you have the background music so loud when you are speaking about the instrument?
Is this hollow body
Semi-hollow body. The neck is a solid piece of wood the entire length of the guitar. A ‘neck-through’ design.
