Thin Lizzy, an Irish band. They were new when I was a senior in HS. Saw them the night I would turn 18 by the end of the show. The club was in downtown Dallas, and you walked past security and PD at the door with your bongs, pipes, hookas…1976. Best teen years ever. Drinking age was 18. Dayum, I’ve had the best music life. ☮️❤️🎼
Phil the bass player signature bass was that Fender P bass with the mirror pick guard . When he saw a girl he liked in the audience he would reflect the light from his pick guard on to the girl . He would also do the same to his mother when she was in the audience as a way to tell her he loved her . He was "The rocker" oozes with swagger .Love this band and love Phil.
Thin Lizzy's live album 'Live And Dangerous' is a classic. Along with UFO's 'Strangers In the Night' live album- 2 of the greatest Live rock albums you will ever hear. Don't make 'em like they used to! R.I.P. Phil Lynott.
Gary Moore would be chuckling in his grave to hear that he wasn't playing loud enough during his solo. We could see him turn up in the middle of it. He was never renowned for playing quietly lol. I saw Lizzy in Belfast on the night Gary replaced Eric Bell. He had just flown in, had a couple of hours rehearsal and went on stage. Mostly a jam session that night but hey, a great jam session lol. Lizzy were also one of the few bands who would visit Northern Ireland regularly during the political upheavals, bombings and murders. Thanks for that guys...always fantastic to have the boys back in town!
Great observations and reaction. Standing in a line behind the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver Waiting to see Thin Lizzy, I smoked a fatty with Phil Lynnot. He saw me and my friend huffing away and just walked up, took a few rounds while chatting about the show, and then went in the back door leaving us just laughing our asses off. It's still surreal to think about every time I hear their name. They put on a great show btw, and Phil died waaay too young.
Tin Lizzy was a great band, led by singer/bass player Phil Lynott, who wrote most of their songs.Phil and drummer Brian Downey were in the band from the start until Phil died. They started with just one lead guitarist,Eric Bell, who was great, and keyboard player Eric Wrixon.Bell left in 1973 and was replaced by Gary Moore, but he left in '74 and then they went with two lead guitarists, which was really their signature sound.Try listening to Whiskey In The Jar to see Eric Bell.Scott Gorham was with them from mid '74 and stayed till the end,and they had a few other guys playing the other lead guitar. They had a lot of good songs. You might like The Boys Are Back In Town, the Cowboy Song and Suicide.
Lead singer IS a part of the band, whether he/she plays an external instrument or not. The voice by itself is a very complex and demanding built-in instrument.
The singer is Phil Lynott ... if you've ever listened to the war of the worlds original epic he played the parson Nathaniel. Oh and if you haven't...you should 😁
Oh wow, I didn’t even recognize him! I knew he was with them for a short time, but didn’t know he was with them during this performance. Of all the people for that to happen to 😳
@@cainealexander-mccord2805 You're correct. Brian and Scott were the guitarists on "Jailbreak", but the lineup in this clip is most definitely Phil Lynnot, Brian Downey, Scott Gorham and Gary Moore.
A real great Band. Iron Maiden Bassist Steve Harris has cited Thin Lizzy as a personal influence. Think of the galloping sound of the Boys are back in Town.
Lead singer playing lead guitar? Mark Knopfler! Most highly recommended - 'Sultans of Swing', absolute mega best version is Alchemy Live, and also a big shout out to Terry Williams the drummer on that gig
(Said with great pride) Some of the best bands Ever came from the UK in the 70's. Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin (to name but three) - known as the Unholy Trinity!
Surely you're aware of The Boys Are Back In Town? I thought EVERYONE knew that? Shame Gary's solo was messed up. Always make friends with the sound guy in a public venue without your own system/engineer. As an aside, regarding Gary Moore: Not suggesting you 'react' to the song, but his guitar solo on the live album 'We Want Moore' of the song 'Shapes of Things' is definitely worth checking out. It's just audio from the album, but is Gary at his finest, in my opinion.
Ah ok, I didn’t know that song was them! That’s a great one, I have heard that before! Really was a shame about that guitar solo, definitely want to check out more of Gary Moore he’s a monster!

Their whole double album, "Live and Dangerous," is absolutely epic.
Coolest frontman ever. They also recorded one of the 3 greatest live albums to have EVER been recorded. This band is the very definition of bad ass.
Saw Thin Lizzy many times,Phil lynott was a fantastic front man ❤❤
The original and best irish rock band ever.

Such a great generation and era of music! Thanks for sharing and have a great one!
The guy with the audio issue was Gary Moore. That was great.
Live and Dangerous one of the best live albums ever!!! Take a listen!!!!!!

They are a guitar lover’s band. Which is why they’re one of my favorites.
Great point! Can’t wait to hear more from them! Killer! 🔥
A totally awesome band. 😁👍
Can’t wait to hear more from them! So good!
My fav unsung heroes. Phil was a charismatic one of a kind. RIP.

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the video! That’s a memory right there 🤣 such a shame that he passed away young
Thin Lizzy was an absolutely killer band !!!!! HOF worthy...!!!

They were killer!
Saw them with Nazareth in ‘78! Incredible!🤘🔥
Watched them twice, 1979(on the Black Rose tour) and 1980 aswell. 😅

The Boys Are Back In Town ❤🎉
Saw them twice in the 70s
Best live band I ever saw, and that includes the likes of Zepp, Floyd etc.
Thin Lizzy....You're in for a ride, my friend. Inspired everybody from Def Leppard, Bon Jovi to Metallica and everybody else
Let’s goooo! Can’t wait to hear more from them. Thanks for watching!

Thanks so much! You always give us such awesome info! Have a great day! 😁
Phil lynott's voice is similar in some ways to jimi hendrix but it is uniquely irish!
Emerald, killer on the loose 👍
The guy playing the solo that had the issue with the sound man was Gary Moore.
Oh wow, I didn’t even recognize him! I knew he was with them for a short time, but didn’t know he was with them during this performance. Of all the people for that to happen to 😳
Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson played guitars on this album.
the left Guitar Men is clearly Gary Moore .look on his Face .

@@telecasterluva666 I won't argue. I love Gary Moore, too.
Gotta do The Cowboy Song... Studio version. BADASS!
Including the best Solo in the history of Heavy Music
Their amps are on 11!

Great reaction!
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed!
Classic. Plus here is my personal hero Gary Moore too..
To me the Jailbreak was a metaphor for the boys having a break from the girlfriends.
Gotcha. Could be?! Who knows….in most relationships you need a break from your partner at some point 😂

Mark knofler did a song with phill lynott. Kings call.
@@user-gm5by6dj3d Don't forget Ode to Liberty.
Check out lights out by UFO!
React to Thin Lizzy- Cowboy Song
Thanks for the suggestion and swinging by the channel!
I wonder if Iron Maiden was inspired by them with two guitarists playing like that.
The inspiration for Maiden, Judas Priest and all other twin guitar bands were Lizzy and Wishbone Ash
Thin Lizzy have some great tracks.... it's too bad Phil Lynott died.
Dude, it’s Gary Moore playing the solo😉
(Said with great pride) Some of the best bands Ever came from the UK in the 70's. Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin (to name but three) - known as the Unholy Trinity!
Irish not UK
Cowboy Song!
Appreciate the suggestion!
@@setonhillstudios Dude, if you react to the Cowboy song, The Live and Dangerous album is the place to go (th-cam.com/video/mdXx0oRj4y4/w-d-xo.html).
followed by the boys are back intown together.
They came out of IRELAND...NOT ...U.K. 😂
Lead singer of Metallica worshiped Thin Lizzy and coppied their version of Whiskey in the Jar a note for a note.

Sounds like a wasp in a jam jar , not a great recording, best listen to the studio version
I’ll have to check it out!
