In 1977 Thin Lizzy opened up for Queen at the Philadelphia Civic Center. They opened the concert with this song and absolutely blew the roof off, I told my friend that I thought Queen would have a tuff time following them but of course Freddie Mercury and Queen proved me wrong. To this day it is still one of the best concerts that I ever attended.
Ned from Spain saying hey fellas and really really appreciate your coming back to Thin Lizzy and so happy you dig what they do. I love the details in the guitars like that long high harmony note during the chorus. As always a banger of a tune in the instrumentation, vocals and especially the lyrics. Brian Downey is one of my all time favorite drummers who needs some appreciation. Other killers include " It's Only Money" " Suicide" " Chinatown" " Bad Reputation" " Gonna Creep Up on You " " Boys Are Back in Town" " Sugar Blues" " When the Spirit Slips Away" " Kings Revenge" "Warriors" " Emerald" " Black Boys on the Corner"....
Nice!! ty ❤✌🏻 you all, I was 11 when I first heard Breakout. Born to rock I am !! Still my dream to be a backup singer bc The Supremes. Random but true!
Guys, you keep dancing around their best song. The Boys Are Back In Town. It hit us in the spring, and it was the song of that summer..Funny but back in the 70’s. Every summer there was 1 song that ruled the air waves. So for me when I hear certain songs. They take me back to a beautiful time in my life. Jail Break was a good one. You’ll have to trust me on this one ❤
Saw Thin Lizzy warm up for Queen, in Philadelphia. Was February 1977, my high school senior year. The best tune on this lp is called Cowboy Song, in my opinion.
More Thin Lizzy guys please !! These guys have such a great catalog. One of the 70's best bands ever! Check out (1) Don't Believe a Word, (2) Waiting For An Alibi, and for sure (3) EMERALD! 💎☘
It's a great song, I've played it in bands before and it was always a blast to play. I also love their songs 'Hollywood' and 'Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed'.
I saw these guys when I was 17 right after graduating high school in June 1976 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. The warm up band was Journey, before Steve Perry joined. Journey sucked. Everyone was chanting Thin Lizzy. We were sitting next to a side exit door getting high, and when the door guy saw us we thought we were busted. We offered him a hit and he took it!! Great concert and memory. 2 months later, I was in the Army!
The song that put them on the map, also from the Jailbreak album, which tended to promote drinking and rowdy behavior from adolescent males in the 70s (not that I would know anything about that)
@@GreenEyedRogue The Electric Light Orchestra and Groundhogs were also some of the best live bands I experienced at the same time. Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone, Kent ,UK - That's where it all happened locally for me back in the day. Jimi Hendrix also played a gig at the Odeon cinema just down the road a couple of years previously, but I was a bit too young to remember, let alone see, any of that!
Great reaction La/Che that is Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson playing the ax on this album. Phil came up with the original riff and Brian and Scott molded into what you are hearing. I suggest that you listen to Emerald off of this album. It’s a banger guaranteed to make you smile. Keep up the phenomenal work gentlemen.
When Phil Lynott was dying from all the drugs and alcohol he pumped into his body for years, the only man he knew as a father figure, his parish priest, was with him at his deathbed. After reading him the Last Rites, Lynott yelled out loud, “HAVE MERCY ON ME LORD, A SINNER.” Truly heroic.
Glad to see you all reacting to bands and songs no one else is doing! Check out the band Shooting Star. Their 1981 album "Hang On For Your Life" doesn't have a bad song on it. Some of the songs that got a lot of airplay back then are: Hollywood Flesh and Blood Breakout Are You On My Side
You need to see the live videos! There's one with the song about the killing of the buffalo where you can really see how Phil plays the bass like a rhythm guitar. He wasn't a technical bass player but he was still one of my favorites because of the way he lead the band.
WOOOHOOOOO!!! LOVE ME some THIN LIZZY! Phil Lynott's VOCALS!!! RIP, Phil: YOU ARE MISSED!! Whiskey In the Jar is GOOD by them....and, THE COWBOY SONG!!! THANKS, FELLAS!! ENJOY!! HUGS!!
I was lucky to be in an Irish Bar in Manhattan with a bunch of Irishmen. The mood quickly lightened once this song came on. Like people are now dancing. This was December 2002 & I was 25.
I saw Thin Lizzy open for Kansas in 78 or 79. I only knew their 2 big hits at the time, Boys are Back in Town and Jailbreak. The drummer had red police lights on his drum kit going off during that instrumental break. I got a kick out of them, they really played up the bad boy themes. Since the lead singer was black, I had no idea at the time they were an Irish band. But, they were not in the same class as Kansas.
Guitarist Scott Gorham said the guitars used at the time did not have a master volume and the microphones in the studio could not take the volume put out on this album: That's the "crunching" you pick up on. He said in concert the volume was so loud that it was uncomfortable, but they had to have it to have sustain. Once the guitars started having a master volume, you could keep the sustain without all the volume. Very good album, in my opinion.
Funniest thing I ever heard someone say about this banger: “there’s gonna be a jailbreak, somewhere in the town…wouldn’t it be at the jail?” I also like that in the midst of the jailbreak, he’s got a little time for a good looking female. Lol thx for this one, Lynott a great story.
This is my teens bruh! Brian Downey the drummer wasn't flashy, but he was Mr. Metronome! The twin lead guitars and silky vocals punched you in the chest and stole your heart!
It does sound amazing, but truth be told very little of it is live. Many, if not most live albums get fixed up in te studio prio to release, but "Alive and Dangerous" is reportedly ended up being mostly a studio creation. Still a great band (and album), though.
The live versions of Thin Lizzy are even more spectacular. I forget the name of the Live Album but it's something Dangerous or something and it's superb reverb.
I wish when people give their recommendations they would choose the best version, for thin lizzy live and dangerous is always the best version in my opinion. Keep up the great reactions.
This Black Irish brother, was so ahead of his time. RIP Phil….
Phil had it all🍀
💯🤘
The best rock music was made in the 70’s, and these guys made a lot of it.
My first concert in 1977 Queen and Thin Lizzy for $7.00 . Great band and great reactions. Thx
I saw this same tour in Phx , AZ. it was totally fantastic. They were supporting Jailbreak and A Day at the Races albums. Mindblowing live!!
Saw that tour with Queen at the Forum in Los Angeles, one of my favorite concerts of all time !
Damn...THAT sounds amazing.
@@jaytyler6203 I was at the same show
I saw that show in Vancouver - this was the opening song.
RIP PHIL LYNOTT. Gone way too soon.
He was a Pict
@@kellahella5286 yes he did way to soon.
Gone but not forgotten 👍
Been grooving to this since late 70’s. Thin Lizzy is under appreciated.
This STILL sizzles decades later! Great reaction AB!
Thin Lizzy has moved swiftly into my top 10 rock bands ,over the last 8-10 years. I really appreciate everything they bring to the table.
In 1977 Thin Lizzy opened up for Queen at the Philadelphia Civic Center. wow great memory
Thin Lizzy always merits a thumbs up! Thanks.

Yes just another great Rock band from the 70’s man we were spoiled.
You two gentlemen are very high on the list of reactors I follow. You're really enjoyable to watch!
They were an incredible live band.
Another song of the soundtrack to my high school days. Thanks guys!
Live and Dangerous, up there as one of the greatest live rock albums of all time
Mid-70s guitar rock at its finest. 🎸 😊

Thin Lizzy are Rock Royalty 🤘🤘
Great tune also love "The Cowboy Song" from this album!
They did a reaction to Cowboy Song. I think around 3 months ago. It’s a good one👍
And Warrior.
I have not heard this for a minute . It still sounds great!! Thanks, fellas, for the excellent reaction!!
Emerald by Thin Lizzy, that's a ROCKER...
We used to blast this on our boombox (on 11 of course) in Mogadishu back in '93, just to let the locals know....

One of those bands I regret not seeing. Covered their songs many times, but I never got to see them live.
I still listen to these guys quite often. Great rock and roll! Phil Lynott was one of a kind.
Nice..."Emerald" from Live & Dangerous! Soooo many great songs just waiting to be heard...
that riff and his voice , awesome stuff fellas
I instantly loved their sound. I love singing this song at the karaoke scene.
Another great story telling band 😅🤘i love the lead singers voice and cadence
I see AB; Thin Lizzy, I click. My thumb was across the room. Never seen it move so fast.
Underrated band
The mighty Thin Lizzy.
Thanks guys.
Love this one.
💪😁👍
Thin lizzy, April Wine.....
Thats some 68' Camero music right there.
Loven' it.

Love the precision drumming as much as the crunchy guitar.
Such a crisp sounding rock song
These guys were good
Was a kid, when this came out. Still as awesome as ever
Yeah, that guitar riff is insanely good. Excellent reaction.
These guys sing the song...The boys are back in town.
The song that put them on the map, also from the Jailbreak album, which tended to promote drinking and rowdy behavior from adolescent males in the 70s (not that I would know anything about that)
Love to see you guys return to Thin Lizzy! Check out "She knows" and "Showdown" as well.....
Bad reputation, Black Rose, Opium Trail, the Rocker. 💪
Hell yea. IMO tied with ZZ. As coolest cats in rock
"Suicide" from the fighting album is a great banger
❤❤ whole album is 🔥
One of the best live bands that I had the pleasure to see way back in 72 - 73 as a starstruck 15 year-old...
You lucky bastard

This song was in the movie Detroit Rock City. DAMN you're speaking my language with Lizzy!!!! By far my favorite band EVER!!!!!!!!!
Saw them live at Hammersmith Odeon early 80's, crazy night.
Now you guys are rockin out. The biting guitar riff is the song. Love it!
GTA IV Radio Station is where I learned this song. Loved it ever since. ❤
You should prolly just watch the entire " live and dangerous" concert, widely considered to be one of the best live albums ever recorded, still!!
Great album from a great band!!
thin lizzy was rocking the airwaves in the 70s an early 80s this my third reveiw wit yall im feeling ya RIP phil

The Cowboy Song!
This song is a banger!! Got to love this band more Thin Lizzy guys!!
This was my first concert. They opened for Nazareth in Madison, Wisconsin around1978. They are both from Scotland
Nah mate, the original members were from Ireland (northern and southern) not Scotland. Nazareth yes...Lizzy no. 👍
This is an absolute bad ass guitar riff GREAT TONES .
Awesome silky rock song! Love to Think Lizzy , peace to Philo !
"THE BOYS ARE BACK" IS A FIRE TUNE BY THEM.
