  • Very easy to do so that your dash cam not only has no wires on show but also goes on and off with the cars ignition.
    For older Fiesta models please check out my other guides and for help with a rear dash cam click the link below.

    Brilliant! Thank you for uploading this as I am doing this exact job to the wife’s 2018 Fiesta over the weekend. I thought it was going to be identical to the previous Fiests but you e shown that not to be the case

    Thanks for the video. The only issue I had is the black plastic behind the mirror is quite large in the Fiesta and blocks part of the picture when the camera is positioned as shown in the video.

    Instructions ok other than saying a 2018 Fiesta is a mini blade. They're mostly micro2 fuses so got most done but had to order a different fuse spur.

    Hi. Super videos pal! Just got a 422+rear window bundle. Watched your general rear camera install/Fiesta hard-wire front camera install. Have you done a specific rear-camera/cable routing video for my 2015 Fiesta, can't seem to find one. Thank you.

    Great video thanks. Is it Micro or Micro2 spur ? Have a new Fiesta this week and thought the latter was now fitted on most new cars.

    I installed my nextbase dash cam and hard wired the fuse to f78 ignition but for some reason the camera stays on when the car is switched off any ideas

      You need to test for a switched live fuse such as heater blower, fuse box layouts can vary depending on country of sale,spec and build year.

    I know the fuse tap should only really be inserted the right way into the "hot" side of the fuse box but does it also matter which way the fuse you have removed is placed into the lower section of the fuse tap? ie with the fuse rating facing upwards or downwards..thanks...

    Was the Fuse Sper that you used on this install in the NextBase kit or does it have to be ordered separately?

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The micro blade fuse spur is not in the kit but is available from Ebay/Amazon/car shop. The kit only comes with Mini and full size fuse spurs.

    Hi PJ,
    Thanks for your video, it's really helpful.
    I've just hardwired the A129 dash cam on my 2018 Ford Fiesta using a 3 HW Kit and the following fuse slots:
    10A - Parking assist control module (IGNITION ON)
    30A - Right-hand mirror switch / Right-hand front power windows (CONSTANT)
    I'd have preferred to use a lower amp slot than 30A for the Constant like 10A or 15A ideally but there's no better slot I can find for the fuse tap to go in fully.
    I'm using a fuse tap which states from the manufacturer "Maximum current: 30A", do you reckon it's for the added fuse tap or both?
    Is it safe to use a 30A fuse slot also?
    I'm using a 5A fuse for the dash cam.
    Thanks

      Hey bud, I’m about to do the same job for my Ford Fiesta (18 plate as well). Since you have just done the job, please can I check whether the fuse type is Micro or Micro 2?

    • @notownblues360
      @notownblues360 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hendrick Djohan Hey, you've got 2 types of fuse. Micro 2 and Micro 3. I'm using 2 x 10A fuse slots, both Micro 2. You'll see it's quite tricky in this car if you need 2 slots of 10A. I'm using No. 3 - parking assist module for acc cable and No. 4 - ignition switch for battery cable.

      Thibault Bougard Thanks dude - I’ve only just had the chance to look into the fuse box today - and I get what you mean! I was wondering if slot 6 would be feasible too - since it says that it is for “Moonroof” - although my car doesn’t have a moonroof...
      I was trying to figure out how to hide the wiring to the rear camera, but I can’t seem to figure out a way without leaving the wire hanging from the rear window.. Please can I check how you did yours?

      @@Hendrick94 The issue is, there is a right and wrong way of putting your fuse tap in the fuse slot. As PJ shows in this video the + side faces up for the Micro2 ones therefore your fuse tap cable has to face up too. If you put it the wrong way it could potentially cause a fire so you don't want that. Now if you want to use Slot 6 (with the fuse tap cable facing up) it just won't go in because the circuit breaker is in the way unfortunately. I've studied the fuse box for a couple of days and thought of every one I could potentially use and the ones I've given you are the only way if you want to stick to a 10A slot (which are recommended by most people). For the rear cam cable, wasn't too much trouble, I've manage to hide mine pretty well with another one of PJ's videos: th-cam.com/video/m2GNqJffZKA/w-d-xo.html

      Thibault Bougard Thanks bud! Yeah I’ve noticed the right/wrong ways to put the fuse taps.. Couldn’t check where the HOT side is though, since my multimeter probe doesnt fit into the fuse holder.. Figured out a workaround and will try it one of these days..
      Yeah makes sense on not using No. 6 due to the position.
      I’m under the impression that the Ignition Switch fuse is very vital, so wasn’t sure if I should use that.. Similarly for the Data Link Connector, I’m not sure if it will affect the engine check lights on the dashboard, or simply the external OBD2 diagnostics tool.
      Thanks for the video link! I’ll check it out :)

    Did the installation mess with the dab after you fitted it?

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very common problem on certain makes of car, after many phone calls to most camera manufacturers it seems no current fix is available.
      If it is messing your DAB reception up you will need to remove the camera.

      @@PJsprojects I'm fitting it to a fiesta active x when the car comes in from the factory. Just wondered if it messed around in the fiesta you fitted it on as its virtually the same?

    does the other fuse that goes in the tap have a specific amp rating?
