    Know this is 4 years old, but thought I'd still thank you on the off chance you still read the comments. Thank you for your video :). A quick glance at the fuse diagram for my 2012 model and I was able to pick a non-critical fuse and get it installed very clean. Thank you again sir. 💓

    Brilliant video, so clear and easy to follow with enough instructions to do the job without making it complicated or convoluted. A born teacher I would say. Well done.

    Brilliant video, explained clearly and resulted in me wiring my dash cam into my 2017 Focus in 5 minutes. Keep up the great work!

    You, Sir, are quite good at this. All the little details about stuff that you might run in to. Thanks from Ohio in the U.S.

    Great video! Thank you.
    Only issue I had was the acc fuse tap. The camera would only run off of the permanent live fuse tap but not the acc fuse tap when starting the car. Reason was I had the acc fuse tap the wrong way in the fuse box. I had to flip it around.

    3:05 TIP: by twisting off ziptie tails, they become soft smooth ends and won't cut or damage anything. Twist off with pliers, prolly takes 3 full twists. Electricians pro tip.

    Is it an issue that fuse 85 which you used is labelled as “Passenger air bag deactivation indicator, front seat heater switch, heating module, air quality sensor, radio, humidity sensor, voltage quality monitoring, front parking aid camera, moonroof, PTC heater, parking heater”?
    Are any of those likely to cause an issue in using a fuse spur on them?
    Also, I noticed you added the fuse spur with it tailing to the left. Is that putting the additional fuse in parallel with its own power, or series running through the original fuse too? Just thinking of which round it needs to go. Thanks for a great video tutorial too.

    Hi, at 0:20 you mentioned another focus video. The only other focus dash cam video I can see is the 1998-2005. Is that what you're referring to, or have you got a different video for non-ST 2011-2019? I'm only asking in case non-ST 2011-2019 is substantially different from the ST. Great video anyway, exactly the amount of information I was after.

      I'm afraid TH-cam removed the other Focus video because my recording picked up four seconds of copyrighted music on the cars radio.... The next a time I get a none ST Focus of the right year I will video it again.

    Why are two power connections needed? Would the permanent live not do the same job. I presume this recorder is kept in the ' always on" position. Maybe I missed something in the video. Very well explained and demystified tho.

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A switched live is needed to take the camera out of parking mode when the car is started.

    • @leinodoherty2590

      I read all comments hoping someone asked the same question. I thought the same "why two power sources, did I miss something?" still not sure why even after reading reply. But he does a great job explaining all other details. Thanks for the installation video.

      @@leinodoherty2590 I fitted a Nextbase dash cam. It only has one power source. Permanent live. The camera goes into parking mode five minutes after switching off engine. It then switches on if someone bumps or shakes the car. It automatically starts recording when engine starts.there is no battery drain when in Parked mode.

      @@p.macdermott2490 Thanks for this. I'm trying to install my nextbase on my focus too. Which perm live fuse did you use to power it?

    • @p.macdermott2490
      @p.macdermott2490 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nicholariseborough4906 I have just installed a nextbase on my Ford Kuga. The Nestbase model I fitted only had one live wire and an earth wire. I bought a wiring kit on eBay which has an adaptor which ' piggy backs' a permanent live fuse.It was only a matter of removing the existing fuse and inserting the adaptor. The other side was clamped to an earth screw which was sited at bottom footwell. The dashcam comes on when engine is started or if someone should prank your car when parked up. If you have any questions let me know your email and I'll give any help I can

    Hi, I'm new to multimeters. I was wondering if I could ask where is the black probe when you were testing for which fuses to use? Which mode should it be in (if any)? And, is 200 ohms the setting to set it to? Thanks!

    I have a 2018 focus keyless entry push button ignition. I'm struggling to find a permanent live fuse. Currently I'm running off the heated steering which I don't have. But still won't run nrxtbase 422gw with rear camera . So can't use the parking mode effectively any ideas please 🤔

    great video, would love to know was this focus a push button start? i have a 67 plate and my camera always seems to stay on when the car is stopped. if i turn the camera off myself it will come back on when i start the car, very confused. i will recheck i have used the same fuse location that you have.

    Quick question if you can help. I've just bout a 2018 MK3 it has zonal reverse sensors. When its put into reverse the display shows the car. Could a reverse camera still be fitted and would the sensors still work.

    I live in the US, and tried this procedure on my Ford Cmax, while the ignition is off, and all of my unused fuses all read 12 volts.

      Try a fuse slot that already runs a circuit such as heater blower.

      It's a fuse spur, available from car shops, Amazon and Ebay.
