    OMG! YES. You said it all. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto in 2022. They told me I would need to be on meds for the rest of my life. I take Levothyroxine once a day. I study and watch my own body. Which is how I was diagnosed with Hashimoto. I knew something wasn't right. I kept telling the doctors. Finally, I pushed and start doing a paper trail. So if anything was to happen, they would be held accountable. I'm not off my meds but I said all that to say, know your body and be persistent. Don't be afraid to fire a doctor and take the route that's not common. I'm going to see if I have a Functioning Medicine Practitioner near me. I have already gotten ahead without knowing. I changed my diet to plant base. I'm also a 2 time diagnosed Cancer Survivor.

      I also have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (diagnosed in 2018), and I can almost guarantee that you don't need medication, and definitely not for the rest of your life. You can manage it just fine by not eating gluten and taking certain vitamins (I use a multivitamin). I suspect that they're just trying to make money off of you by saying that. Eating a lot of soy and drinking a lot of dairy can hurt the thyroid, too.

    After having had 19 centimeters of inflammation in my gut and the diagnosis ulcerative colitis, I did some research on my own. I had one 7 week medical treatment, which caused the bleeding to stop. But I also changed my diet: I drink a glass of kefir daily and consume a lot of fermented foods in general. I also regularly make bone broth from top quality beef. I'm now 4 months off medication, and haven't had any bleeding since April this year. I also regained the weight I lost before my diagnosis.
    In short: check if you have a gut imbalance. Good bacteria tremendously help keeping the bad bacteria at bay. Look up Robert Martindale from Portland, Oregon. A great, great MD who embraces holistic medicine. He and dr. Hyman are great pioneers for all of us.

    My rheumatologist said I’d have RA for the rest of my life even after I put my RA in remission for 7years. She disregarded my concerns of other things affecting me this time (eg perimenopause, hormones, stress). She prescribed me another medication after none have worked in the past 2 years. I’m in the process of trying to heal my gut, and waiting to get tests run with my obgyn before taking any big pharma drugs. I know I can beat this again.

    This from someone who suffered from virtually every auto-immune symptom for a long time yet declined any Allopathics. Sadly, because of refusal to take offered medication, was left out in the cold - deliberately so, & had to find a way to deal with this painful condition. THUS:
    Sneak in - as *ACIDITY* in the blood is the principal cause of most 'so called' auto-immune conditions/inflamations, diet is crucial. And alkalizing the bodily system is the 1st important step, then a suitable diet & exercises & sincere prayers to the Ultimate Physician. That did the job perfectly.😉

    My physician friends tell me that they DO recommend lifestyle and food choice changes for their patients. But they’ve found that most of their patients prefer to take a pill. I think there’s truth in that. But I also know how hard it is to follow their advice.

    • @disnalee
      @disnalee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pills do more damage then change your diets and exercise. Money cannot buy you a healthy body that takes work on your part. I learned this by doing it myself. Meds does damage our body whether its our vital organ or our hands or foot. i experience it so i can talk about it. Its sad people prefer pills and cutting their life short.

    • @disnalee
      @disnalee 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mrs.TJTaylor your correct to some extent. If we make bad food choice or lifestyle then your correct. If we are in a bad health and we seek medical help but only to receive meds as the only solution to resolve it than i do think that we can put the blames on the dr. I am 49 years old. I have T2D. i was told by my own dr that there is no cure to my disease that only meds is the only way to control it. That is not true bc i did some research and its a diet disease so its possible to reverse it with diet changes. Even my dietition or nutritionist told me to eat foods that would kept me sick so more meds would be needed to be pumped into my system. I was told to eat six meals a day with snacking in between meals but try not to spike up my glucose which it was hard to do when i am eating nonstop. I was told to load up on high carbs so how can i not spike my glucose??? Anyway i change my diet and am at a better health now. Still has diabetes but not as worst. I exercise, fasting, and avoids high carbs plus sugars. I do feel bad for blaming the drs bc they prolong my illness by pumping you with more meds when they can simply tell you its a diet thing so change your diets and it may help your conditions to be med free or so but none. Drs are suppose to treat illness but now it seems its all about meds. A lot of our diseases are all due to diets and the foods we put into our body so overtime our body cannot support it so it back fire on us. So yes i do blame the drs for not disclosing the simple fact but instead would promote drugs into our system so easily. There was no choice given when its there all along but i was told none. Yes i am upset bc i was pumped with meds for four months to where both my foots went numb from the meds. I went to my dr 3x and they just ignored the issues and wanted to pump up more meds into my system so i refused. I was at 164 pounds overweight. I changed my diets, exercise and fast. Now weighing 115, cutting my glucose from 199+ to 100 or less and A1C from 8.93 to 4.8.

    • @Mrs.TJTaylor
      @Mrs.TJTaylor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@disnalee Wow! You’re doing great! Congratulations! Yes, I do understand. The mainstream medicine dietary advice is only given to support the use of the medications. It’s wrong. Type 2 diabetes is a dietary disease and can be reversed with a low carbohydrate diet. But here’s another example. I have a diabetic friend who has had two toes amputated. He is going blind, his kidneys are failing and he has had quadruple bypass surgery. He goes to see a wound care specialist every week, and has done this for a year and four months to try to keep his leg from being amputated. But he won’t change his diet in any way to correct his disease. He told me he’d rather die than to eat the kind of low carb diet that I eat. I won’t blame his doctor for that. And this friend has cost the public millions in health care costs with all his surgeries, hospitalizations, medical costs and disability payments.

    Dr. Hyman I was hospitalized Jan 2021, and diagnosed as a T2 w/A1C 7.6, triglycerides 106, hdl 60, but my Total cholesterol was 227, so the doctor placed me on Lipitor and I had terrible throat pain until I stopped it after two weeks, I then went Keto, took milk thistle to help with liver function, red yeast rice for cholesterol, after 3 mons my A1C dropped from 7.5 to 5.4, my triglycerides went from 106 to 62, HDL went from 60 to 82, so the doctor backed off the drugs when I challenged why she simply placed me on them without questioning my diet & lifestyle. I feel better but I can’t get my blood pressure down to 120/80, or lower preferably. Im on Amlodipine Besylate & Olmesartan/Hctz 40/12.5, I need help. I’m 6ft, 212,lbs, can you make some suggestions, integrative doctors that I can contact? I’m in the Washington DC area. I have got to get off of these blood pressure meds because they’ve ruined my love life.

    👋@Mark Hyman, MD, I relate to everything you said that I use in my daily diet! However, what is missing is the lyumphatic drainage concocussion which I use with 40% vodka to make the tinctures! I mix it with apple cider vinegar and tiny amount of glycerine, but what do people do to iwith fermenting their herbs and other products to drain their lymph system much faster without using alcohol?? I have heard also many people including me who have extreme amounts of B12 in their system, when a person like me, barely eats meat much! There is something else not be discovered and understood yet. Please mention this also in your upcoming videos! I am sure I can't be the only person in North America who has this issue. Thanks!

    Dr Hyman, I have alopecia totalis at the age of 4 yrs old. (1966) No family members with this in my back ground. I was told, I was 1 of 9 in the world back then. Now there are thousands. Do you know why and how this has become? I’m ok with it, but don’t wish this on anyone. And wonder what other issues I may have unexpectedly handed down to my children? None have alopecia. Thank you for your time.

      I have T2D. My dr told me only meds to control my disease. I changed my diets, fasting, and exercise. I have loss over 50 pounds, glucose drop from 199 to 100 or less and A1C was cut in half from 8.93 to 4.8. I was on the meds for 4 months and both my foot went numb. I went to my dr 3x and they ignore me and didnt help so i quit going to them. I also quit them meds and the numbness went away in less than two weeks. Now i just do what ive been doing and my blood glucose hasnt spike. All the foods my dietition told me to eat did not help me at all. It kept my condition worst so that means more med is needed.

    A question I've not seen asked, but I'd like answered:
    How can we blame "gluten" when the many autoimmune diseases seem to be centered in the developed world where we have highly varied (and refined) diets.
    HOWEVER, in many developing nations, where many of the less wealth survive LARGELY on bread, they are not presenting with the kind of autoimmune issues being discussed here; their problems are usually more easily identified. Is it possible that it's something else? Something deeper that creates problems digesting/processing it?

    • @chelsiearthome8094

      First, The bread here is processed differently and literally bleached with high fructose corn syrup etc. Also on countries where they eat lots of bread they are feeding their gut healthy pre biotics to maintain gut health.

    This is a great interview. I wish more studies were being done on those with the DQ-2 genetic haplotype in relation to other Autoimmune diseases other than Celiac Disease ( like-- Type 1 diabetes as there is a higher % of diabetics w/DQ-2 than in the general population). Under the small intestinal villi is the glycocalyx. If this is damaged then the small intestinal villi will be blunted-- leading to an eventual Celiac disease diagnosis. Though, gluten autoantibodies can chose to skip over this and instead target any active area in the body and ironically, this same glycocalyx protective coating is found throughout the body (arteries, veins, bladder)-- every mucosal area like the lungs and gums. The story of the 10 year old girl sounds like myself throughout the years from interstitial cystitis, Raynaud's, hypo-thyroid, arthritic like conditions and alopecia and nearly shutting down of my pancreas at 16. I'm a gluten-free vegan now (mostly plant-based) and still trying to heal from the years of prior gluten exposure. I really wouldn't be surprised if it was the cause of my (still) high blood pressure despite being on the low end of the BMI scale. I'm sure I have arterial damage from it, and since I have low VWF activity (despite being A+ blood type)-- the damage is slow to repair. My BP & clotting factor is my only problem now as everything else corrected by doing away with Gluten. The very sad truth is that there is too much $$ wrapped up in the economy with Gluten/wheat products and the government will never give grants to those who want to study it. I'm sure too-- the Universities wouldn't want it studied either as there's just too much money in "practicing" medicine w/expensive drugs and treatments.

    Bingo! Gluten was making both my wife and I, particularly my wife, very sick and the doctors were baffled. I stopped eating gluten temporarily to lose weight and watched a laundry list of health problems disappear. I convinced my wife to try gluten free and very serious cognitive and balance problems that she was seeing a neurologist for, disappeared. He neurologist had no explanation. I've been gluten free since, but that is not the end, it is the start of my journey towards healthy aging. I'm still trying to figure out what bad things I'm taking in, and working out a plan for the good things. I will review you 10-day detox. I wish we could get pig whipworm in the US, but you have to go to Canada or Thailand to get it now. I hear you on alcohol. I'm sure cutting it out will make me live longer. It will definitely seem like longer!

Eat greens, healthy meat. Get fish oil omega 3 (krill oil is good as well). Try this for 10 days and see if you feel any difference. If no, you might need to find a functional medicine doctor...he is not accepting new patients according to this video. But see if there are any in your area that can help if this doesn't help.
