I like the detail that since Carl didn't know much about Godzilla, he was shown his backstory. The game starts off weird since it doesn't have to pretend to be a normal game, since Carl knows nothing about Godzilla and he already had the idea it was "haunted"

one thing I find off here is that Carl's game has a cool color scheme while on Zachary's it is warmer colors. its like it adjusts to the mind of the player
Just a little 2 cents from me but it's probably in response to Zachary being a more passionate and emotional player (considering the fact that he's playing his favorite childhood game and it's all to save his dead gf), hence the warmer colours. Meanwhile in this story, Carl is a more collected guy, not as passionate as Zack, since he's not too familiar with Godzilla.. so he takes things at a cooler approach. Plus the fact that his playthrough isn't as creepy as Zack's

@@riofanl3638 It's a CREEPYpasta. If the antagonist is not creepy, it's failing, and honestly Warlock isn't creepy. He looks kinda dumb even.
The game is designed to make a personalized hell, so this is Carl’s. Except Red was there before Zach got the game, could it be the game allowed it to fester in it? Also Replay seems more like an action adventure and less horror. But then again warlock isn’t very keen on fighting, just preventing him from progressing. Red was disturbing and bone chilling while Warlock is just intimidating and that’s it

There is a really nice touch about the start of the creepypasta, the guy playing has no clue about the godzilla franchise so unlike in the story before, the game explains the origin story of godzilla, like it wanted to teach the basics of that universe. I find that very cool considering the personalized nature of game.

@@gamepad3173 Same with the first creepypasta (bare with me, my knowledge is limited) and having Titanasaurus, Anguirus, and Megalon, who were introduced after the original game was made.
@@Dr.Oofers That does make sense though, since those monsters were introduced after the original game was made, Zilla didn't show up until 1998 years after the original game was made. Zilla's only appearances were the 1998 film Godzilla and Godzilla the series. (There was going to be a sequel movie but that never happened.)
Something that I find easy to forget is how absolutely massive everything in the game must be. While watching, it’s easy to forget Godzilla is a huge creature and assume he is as tall as an average human

Just imagine how the moon monster, the creatures in that ecosystem planet and the mother that hanged herself looked like from the perspective of a human... they all are disturbing in different ways.

My theory: Warlock is a representation of someone Carl knows or knew. Maybe an abusive parent or something. Because he has many human-like features, incuding hair. And maybe him telling Carl to leave and then later attack represents Carl's troubled relationship with said person.
Since it's a stated fact that the game basically pulls everything from your head and then, using the game as a base, constructs a "fever dream" of sorts for you to play, it's only natural to assume that the "final boss" would be a representation of your absolute worst fear (since it would naturally be the hardest thing for you to overcome). In that sense, Red could've been a representation of Zach's guilt and hatred for himself for letting Melissa die. Maybe that's why Red admits that it was him who killed her. Maybe I am reaching too far, but this seems like a great concept. It's like the game is not actually "alive" or "possessed" by some evil entity. It's just that it connects to your memories and creates everything from that, including the main villain. Basically this cartridge is a Safe Class SCP, that gives you an opportunity to literally battle your inner demons, how cool is that?
I have a slightly different theory.
What if Warlock is a warden, who is meant to keep the gate from being opened? Would explain why he doesn't always attack on sight, and primarily tries to tell Carl off from playing the game instead.
That would also raise questions as to what's behind the gate. Considering how all the boss levels are named "SIN" and their residents' demonic appearances, i wouldn't be surprised if it were RED sitting locked behind that gate. That is further supported by the slot for a red symbol being on the bottom of the gate, separate from all the others.
@@elecstorm3701 that would be a cool comeback not gonna lie, but I would honestly prefer if this story was completely separate from the first one and didn't have any mentions of RED, but instead something that makes sense for THIS story and this protagonist. RED was basically Zach's main nemesis, while Carl is playing a "different" game. Even the passwords for the worlds in the first story don't work in this one.
As to what's behind the gate? Maybe a representation of Carl's biggest trauma? A trauma so severe that Carl has repressed all memories of it? That would explain why it's "locked" away.
I love RED, imo he's one of the best creepypasta villains ever, but I don't want him to be used just as a "final boss".
@@BrickManLive while we do know that the game is different each time, we know that - assuming RED is an actual malevolent entity within the game - RED has been encountered by multiple people. Zach, Melissa, and perhaps even the Project Transcendence tester who had a seizure and claimed he saw a "devil" in the game.
Why wouldn't he persist inside the game in some way, then?

I love how Warloc is way more casual than Red in the original creepypasta, Red claimed that he killed Melissa and was being ol' creppy and stuff, and sammed "RUN" everywhere.
Walroc, from what is shown with th sin gate and stuff, Warloc seems liek the type of guy who doesn't want you to look at his search history, trying everything he can to keep your eyes and thought away from looking into it, with the "Leave, you don't belong here" sounding a lot more like he is saying "Don't go behidn that gate man, there is osme serious crap in there, you don't wanna see it".
Also he compliments Carl's skill in playing so he is obviously more casual

I love that these creepypastas actually include some references to the Godzilla franchise, like with you playing as a godzillasaurus in the beginning as a reference to Godzilla vs King Ghidorah. As a Godzilla fan, this heavily pleases me. Also this video is amazing.

Well, Godzilla HAS been to Hell, in the comics at least. And if you want to view it from a naming perspective, GOD-zilla could be viewed as a dealer of divine justice. Some Godzilla films in-canon view him as retribution for mankind's warmongering ways. So despite being custom-tailored to screw with the player in question, it stays pretty thematically to Godzilla canon, in its own ways.

I'm theorizing Warlock is a gate guardian of sorts and doesn't want Carl to open the gate possibly either out of loyalty or fear to a creature stronger them himself. I personally like the idea of Warlock knowing there is a entity more powerful on the other side of the gate and doing everything in his power to prevent Carl from opening and releasing whatever's on the other side
I have the same feeling Warlock doesn’t seem evil, he’s just impeding Carl’s progress by any means necessary. I honestly think the real Enemy is Usol he looks like a completely weakened and sick Red. Maybe Red needs the gate opened to regain his power?

Warlock looks like something out of an "Iron Maiden" rock album cover.
Now I can't unsee it. He really does look like a monster invented for a rock, heavy metal, or death metal, song cover. And yet he looks more intimidating than most of the other creepypasta characters. (Except for Red, Slenderman, Rake, Suicide Mouse, Candle Cove, and Abandoned by Disney)
Fun Fact: I may have actually influenced this story a bit. I used to be on a (now-defunt) forum for the Kickstarter game Kaiju Combat, where Cosbydaf was a member. In a thread dedicated to the Creepypasta, I actually requested he include King Caesar as a playable character in an upcoming chapter. It was pretty cool to see he ended up doing it.
Granted, it's totally possible that he had the idea before I suggested it, but it still felt pretty nice.

This is how you do a reveal of "why the haunted cartridge is haunted", this creepypasta keeps the wonder alive while explaining what the evil is. This so far is a story that hits all the points. Hopefully Netflix doesn't make a crappy adaption of this, it being in story format gives it personality.

I wonder if Carl's game plays the way it does because he doesn't have any trauma himself or whatever, maybe he's playing it at its purest form and Zach experienced it the way he did because Melissa had died and he wanted to blame it on something.
So Zach created the Red character in his mind and the demon in the game played with that and hoped to take Zach down using these weaknesses.
But Carl has no such weaknesses, no flaws or trauma to play with so instead he sees what's really under the game's surface.
I find it interesting how, in Zach's playthrough, the game would remix and mutate existing monsters. In Carl's, it introduces many more pre-existing Godzilla monsters for the actual monster fights. This is interesting because it should be the opposite, seeing as Zach is a lifelong Godzilla fan, and Carl barely knows anything about the franchise.
maybe the game enjoys toying with its players? we've seen this happen before, when red unnecessarily tells zach "oh yeah by the way i killed your girlfriend lmfao get fucked", potentially proving that its a bit more malicious than just "raa im evil and am going to be scary"

I have noticed something Usol is like Zack's girlfriend. Zack has to save his girlfriend while Carl has to save Usaw. Also although it is not as disturbing as Zack's encounter it still has a very juicy lore.

I can see RED returning as a small cameo, since he knows of him thanks to Zach but I doubt RED will have any plot importance if he does come back.
I feel like Warlock might just be a powerful damned soul, being a Magic user, I back up with the evidence of his name technically being the term for male witches.
He might be scared of letting out demons, since these monsters are damned souls trying to escape from Hell. It'd make sense he'd fear the head of his realm-sized prison, Satan.

This leaves me with many questions regarding game's functionality:
-How would the game react if it was with a tulpamancer?
-How would the game react if it was with someone insane?
-How would the game react if it was with an amnesiac?
-How would the game react if it was with a serial murderer?
-What would happen if someone was playing the game, but someone else started playing it once the 1st person was gone?
-Can you directly record the game to make it a video and upload it somewhere after you finish the game?
-What would happen if a person would play the game twice?
-If someone knows about both demons (Red and Warlock) and other characters (The Face, Usol, Melissa, ect.) from the previous two gameplays, would they re-occur in that person's gameplay?
I have an answer for only the last question, and since Red isn't returning in Replay, he only occurs in Zachary's game since Zach was the one personally dealing with the demon and not anyone else so I'd assume any demonic entities encountered in other people's runs would work the same way

My theory, either Carl or someone close to him was at some point part of the transcendence project most likely a family member, either way these memories might be repressed. Which would explain why things regarding the project are in his cartridge but he can’t remember any of it, similar to how Red was in Zach’s game but he never exactly ‘see’ him
Additionally, I think Usol may be representing of Carl himself, if my theory is right, and if Carl’s family was involved then that would explain Usol’s dialogue “I can’t find my family. They’re probably dead.”
Carl’s family may have met a similar fate that he does not remember due to repression, and him mission to save Usol could be a metaphor for unlocking those repressed memories., he finds Usol he remembers.
Another thing of note but I’m not sure how it connects to my previous theories. Warlock’s eyes and we’ll say ‘magic’ is green, Usol and the other friendly creature are green, and also speak in green. Just something interesting

This is actually really interesting. I think Usau is either gonna be the key to winning, or he's gonna be the final villain. If I had to guess, I think he's gonna be the final villain because he has that "hiding something" vibe to his character. Almost like he's slowly trying to lead you where he wants you to go. I think the door is gonna be a key or something to him gaining power or something and then he turns into the final villain empowered by something from Carl's past.

To anyone who’s craving more NES Godzilla content, I’d recommend checking out CosbyDaf’s other stuff. He does a lot of kaiju and horror stuff, and even wrote a few other creepypastas. I specifically recommend Faith Buddies, probably one of the most underrated pastas out there.

Does anyone find it interesting that the monsters that Zach and Carl are the only mains they use more are also kinda reminiscent of their personality. Zach using Godzilla used more because it's more neutral but standing onto being a hero in some movies, while Carl uses Rodan because Rodan is usually neutral as well, but going more on the bad side like in movies, not caring half the time but still willing to help monsters.

the game was like: okay before I put you through your own personal hell to fight the manifestations of your personal problems in a form of demonic therapy that will most likely leave you more messed up than when you began you must first learn what godzilla is
I like that it really takes its time to give you a good scare. I honestly would love how this goes. considering how it usually slowly waits for anything bigger this whole story probably is waiting for a really bizarre twist.
I like how this sequel dives more into a kind of detective work horror mystery. I personally don't think it's as creepy as he first, but it makes up for it in terms of the fun of the mystery and the new sinister creepy villain warlock. Definitely more of a story where the main character has somewhat control, but it's still all the more unsettling and scary. Great freakin sequel.
The sequal is really intriguing and I can't wait what Mr. Daf will do with it in the future. the story of the first game could've had two options, being the best Creepypasta as we now know it as or the same old bad Creepypasta at the time, luckily we got the best version of it

I have no clue why but the first one (original nes godzilla creepypastsa video Billy made) shook me up so much i never wanted to look at this channel again and had no idea there was a part 2 until today.
I think the main villains of every playthrough is possibly each person's personal demon and the whole game is the players chance to defeat or overcome them. And then each player has their own character they play as that represents them. The npcs are most likely just there to interact with the player and play on their beliefs. It seems the current character is naive, heroic, and nervous, but is slowly blossoming into a more confident hero as the story goes on. Just my thoughts.
I typically get bored when watching longer yt videos but the amount of editing and attention to detail really sets up the atmosphere and it keeps me invested. I'm one of the many people that found your channel through the siren head video but I'm glad I've stayed for the rest

Red reminds me of pyramid head, who was James personal demon and never seen again for any other characters, at least until the later games when they ruined the series, (except downpour which was good when patched)
I do love how the game is meant to be personalized for each player because it can provide for more stories of people who play the game and see how the game will mess with their mind and explore how the game will explain its own existence

I really like the story and art by Cosbydaf, it's like if David Cronenberg designed kaiju's and then made an 8-bit horror game about them. Thanks for giving this the spotlight it deserves.
There are two main questions I'm hoping will be answered before this is over. First, what is it about King Kong that made it important for him to be taken away from the fight? The fact that creature thought Carl couldn't handle him implies there's more to the boss than we'd expect. Second, during the first glitched level we once again have a face hidden in the moon. In the first Creepypasta it was red, so what are we looking at now? 'Cause it sure doesn't look like Warlock
Honestly thought that if Warlock was evil as hell, then he was either trying to stop carl from letting more powerful demons in (Kinda like the enemy of my enemy thing) or that it was heaven's door he was tryna stop from being opened (Kinda like Red tryna stop "The Golden Light" from aiding Zach). before the whole dante's inferno thingy was brought up.
I love how Giger-esque the new creatures look in this. Cool as hell.
I love both pastas. The first time I read them several years ago, I was caught off-guard by the ending of the original much like everyone else. Having reread it just yesterday, I gained newfound appreciation for it. Your commentary illustrates this perfectly. Much of the criticism, in my opinion, stems from a misunderstanding of the story. The cheese is a feature not a bug. It is equally terrifying, cool, and hilarious at points. It doesn't take itself too seriously and has some genuinely awesome moments. One moment it's extremely cheesy (which is par for the course and very much a good thing in my eyes) with the Melissa stuff. The next Zach is fighting a well thought-out, possibly obscure kaiju boss. You almost forget it's a creepypasta. This makes the reader enthralled and thirsty for more. Zach is left feeling the same way, adding to the realism of his character. He's able to put aside the supernatural elements for the thrill of what will happen next. It's just enough to push him that little bit forward. As a sidenote, the reason Carl's story deviates immediately is because he lacked the history with the Godzilla franchise. The transcendence took the only Godzilla-related things he knew (Rodan and Kong).
Relating to Melissa, I find the majority of the story pertaining to her emotionally impactful. As you pointed out in the first video, it was rife with symbolism. To me there was something that felt real about everything involving her. The ending was fine save for the writing and lack of explanation (Replay is already well on its way to fixing the latter). The part about the playable monsters being alive too felt shoehorned in but in retrospect made sense given the fact that the cartridge was (probably) essentially a viewfinder in Godzilla-tinted glasses (one could argue that the actual world has no Godzilla elements and is just being expressed through the resources available to the cartridge). It could be fixed by celebrating the MEMORY of the monsters at least as much as the creatures themselves. At this point I'm only cherry-picking.
Replay is an entirely different beast. It feels less "horrifying" and more "dark", which is a nice change in direction. Carl also cuts to the chase, and as a result is one of the few characters to remain cynical throughout the duration of his respective pasta. He knows what's up and is able to get into the meat and potatoes of this alternate realm. Instead of reacting with fear of the unknown (the overarching theme of Zach's playthrough and the means through which horror is generated), he instead reacts with other, more grounded emotions. This characterizes him as a no-nonsense sort of guy, which is another unique trait of his. Yet another thing I love about him is the humor he creates. He takes every emotion and puts them into a blender, creating a feeling that everything here is real. God damnit I love this stupid little universe, and only wish the best for poor Usol.
Now that I've gotten my over-analysis out of the way, let's talk theories before Cosbydaf debunks them all in the next chapter. Melissa was probably a member of the Transcendence Project (if the project was real to begin with), which would explain how it "captured" her. This still leaves the question: How did it end up in Zach's hands specifically? Maybe Melissa established a link with one player either during or after the Project ended. She convinced this player to get it to Billy's supplier to Billy to Zach, sort of like how Sauron's One Ring works. In this theory, she wanted to be reunited with and/or avenged by her old friend. Another theory is that someone from the outside (and possibly involved with the former project) gave it to Billy's supplier to Billy to Zach for one reason or another.
On the topic of the Sin Gate, while I agree that it is almost definitely a portal to Hell, I believe it's much more nuanced than that. The living ecosystem of the forest doesn't seem all too befitting of hell (an excuse could be that it's just an upper layer of Hell). While Hell is definitely beyond that gate, I get the feeling that this universe/dimension/realm/world is much more than Hell. An entire world on the edge of Hell, serving as purgatory, a bridge between hell and our world, or both. In the first pasta, Trance through Extus would be regions of this border world. Zenith would be the threshold to cross into Hell (this would make sense since the Hell/Sin Gate would be opened in the last or next-to-last world). Red would be a demon unleashed by the Transcendence Project digging too deep. Upon Zach's destruction of Red, the gate was resealed by Melissa.
There's a theory that the Sin Demons were the other members of the Project, which would align nicely with this. Melissa and the other doomed souls worked together to keep the border world safe forever. I personally have my doubts because it's somewhat of a stretch that the other seven participants just happened to align with the deadly sins. Either way I believe Melissa put them there to stop people from suffering the same fate as her. Warlock probably wants to keep the Gate sealed because he is already the dominant power in the border world. Opening the gate would mean he's no longer the biggest bad. Warlock in general mucks up this entire paragraph of theories because it doesn't sit right with the comment of Warlock being "Evil as shit". What do you think?

I have a theory: What if the GAME is actually good, or at the very least has some sort of good intentions? I mean, granted, it doesn’t seem that way, but in Zach’s playthrough, through incredibly convoluted and creepy ways was able to overcome his personal demons by playing this cursed game. Perhaps Warlock is trying to prevent Carl from overcoming his own demons. Maybe, maybe not, who knows.
