Something I appreciate about Red is that he is restricted, for example in sonic.exe sonic can catch up and kill you whenever he wants defeating the point of playing, Red ca't do that he states in the final battle "Can't break the rules" after being accused of cheating. This shows the fact Red has to follow the rules of the game but can bend them to his advantage, if he can't be invincible he can give himself a lot of health, if he can't 1 shot he can do a lot of damage, if he can't stop you from playing he'll make sure you can't stop playing. This makes Red a threat while not feeling unbeatable or generically overpowered.
Red: "I am a virus that caused the death of a middle school girl with episodes of emotionless actions. Now that the girl is dead, I will torture her soul as long as I can, then I will bring in her former partner, via exploitation of his nostalgia, to make them both suffer." Nintendo: "damn that's cool and all, but you're still receiving a cease and desist for exploiting our licensed property."
Not the “most disturbing”, but definitely one of the most fun and creative video game pastas. The sprite work is impressive and it honestly looks like a fun game.

I'm sorry, but I just can't take Red seriously when I watch him failing to catch Godzilla with those stubby limbs of his. He looks so sad, it's almost hilarious.
Yeah it is a little cheesy because the footage he was showing was from a game designed to simulate the creepypasta in the audio drama I watched however it was just still pictures so It did make it pretty creepy. You could image Godzilla being chassed and the fact that Zachry actually out ran him the first time unlike the footage shown. Edit: He also forgot to mention the the really creepy part where Zach said "YES" after out running red of witch Red responded by looking through the game directly at him witch was super creepy in the audio drama recommend checking that out if this story interests you I think It's the ideal way to experience this creepypasta.
I cannot imagine this game in the game characters's perspectives. Godzilla, or Gojira in Japan, a being who is known and feared as the King of Monsters; but yet compared to something like Red who is easily a few stories taller than him/her (I can't remember Godzilla's canon gender, sorry) and has spider legs, long clawed arms, a scorpion-like tail, giant mouth and looking like a rotting mass of meat? That must be terrifying. Thinking that you're the most unstoppable and scariest Kaiju, but this huge red thing can easily grab you and *eat you* when it catches you as if you're nothing but a small snack to it? I can't imagine how terrifying and demeaning that would be for our beloved King of Monsters. And for our dear Mothra. She's a protector for the world, she's meant to keep humans safe from the terror of Godzilla before (at least to my memory?) becoming friends with Godzilla and the other Kaiju. I can't imagine how it would feel to be a protector but being completely powerless to stop what's happening to your friends because of this creature named Red keeps destroying everything you've been trying so desperately to protect. The poor girl must've been absolutely horrified to be living through this hellish situation.
Godzilla is referred to as a girl or a none gender pronoun depending on how nice they want to make her out to be she even gives birth in one of the movies I think she also give birth in 2 others but I’m not so sure since iv only seen little from them.
Then again she’s called the king of monsters so I think in the original and a few others after it she was a boy. But later on when she was meant to be more of a protector and symbol of natures rightful wraith she became a girl and stayed that way since after that they never call her a boy only none gender or a girl.
My interpretation though is that she’s both she changes her gender based on what she needs it’s why she can be so gentle and kind but also ruff and mean because if she’s a real lizard like a dinosaur it really wouldn’t make sense other wise and certain lizard and frog species can do that. But since that’s not lore confirmed she is a girl.
Short theory: Red is a microscopic demon who not only can infect people, but also infect the game system. In short, red sees himself as gigantic beast in the game, but in real life he’s actually really tiny.
if this story was realistic it would go a lot like this: "Yeah, I had this cartridge of Godzilla NES, but it had a bunch of glitches so I never got past the first world"
Another realistic ending would be, "Yeah, I had this cartridge of Godzilla NES, but the graphics were so amazing and ahead of its time, my NES shat itself."

My favorite part about this story is that it's not a standard creepypasta. The story has good humor, creepiness, and a good ending. I also really like godzilla and all the references to the franchise is amazing. Red is also terrifying. It's not just a creepy story, it's an amazing story.

A few corrections: Zach never gave up at any point, he was trying to the end to unlock the forbidden character even whilst losing feeling. The final fight was not effortless. Zach had half a health bar left before finally killing red.

I don't know _too much_ about Godzilla, even if it does interest me quite a bit, but what's even better about this story is that even if you're not super knowledgeable about Godzilla as a whole, or have limited knowledge at best, you can still enjoy the story!
To be fair, the was something people did back in the 80’s to get dust out of the cartridge. It didn’t work that well, but it’s still a popular thing to do.

it's not necessarily disturbing, the ending of revealing that the game is haunted is cliché, but with mel coming along and asking him to save her, it's sweet and totally out weights the cliche-ness, atleast for me.
It’s not cliche. It literally created the haunted game cartridge genre. It’s like watching really early Simpsons episodes and seeing all the plots that would be considered standard now but were revolutionary at the time.

It showed the sheer humanity of the protagonist in his fear and pain, as the realization of the overall paradox strikes you. He's still holding onto the memories of his loved one, refusing to let go even through all the pain this generates him. This is what makes this particular creepypasta different. It is creepy, sure, but it is undoubtedly more realistic than the usual "found cartridge" creepypasta cliché.
God, Sonic.exe is basically what everyone thinks of when they hear the word Creepypasta. I hate it as a member of the Sonic fandom, as I enjoy reading Creepypasta stories as well, as I find it interesting what people come up with. But I've even PLAYED Sonic.exe and it is not all that it is cracked up to be, I consider Sonic.exe to be the most boring of all Creepypastas. When I read NES Godzilla, I immediately enjoyed it, as I found it to be an intensely engaging story that was well crafted, similarly to other creepypastas I enjoy, like Hell Bell, Snow On Mount Silver or Starved. It's why I consider it to be one of my favorite creepypastas that I've read so far
I'm going to be 100% honest, the movie shin godzilla is 1000 times scarier than any internet godzilla horror story, like knowing this giant creature that is constantly in pain due to it constantly changing and bleeding and that it could hypothetically have evolved into another universe just to fight humans, and that the atomic breath scene has an opera song about not being remembered after who die, absolutely haunting, but I'm not saying nes Godzilla is bad, quite the contrary, it's my favorite creepypastas actually. But god(zilla), that movie is fucking haunting.

Imagine for a second, a different version of this story: melissa suffers from mental issues that make her the butt of bullying all her life, and some sick high schooler, pretending to be her friend, made this ROM hack knowing it would disturb her. She goes to the guy that gave it to her, tries to show him what she's seen, but he pretends not to see anything. Her psychology and misplaced trust causes her to obsess over the cartridge and internalize its message of self destruction, eventually resulting in her death. The protagonist's story is him playing through the game, and gradually unraveling the mystery. In the end his disbelief in the supernatural is validated, but at the cost of becoming aware of a different kind of evil, and learning who is ultimately responsible for his friend's death. It would have been a huge trope subversion, unexpectedly highlighting how terrible people can use things we love to hurt and alienate us.
Not good. 1.Zach actually feels the pain 2.Massive coincidence for the clearly innocent Billy to obtain it 3.Monster stories are just plain better. You can shoot a random prick human and that’s the end of it. No suspense there.

Honestly I think the game was actually trying to help Zach by having him literally play through his trauma. Red takes the form of his trauma, and people with traumatic experiences often blame themselves and the trauma even ‘consumes’ people if it’s that bad. The game has him literally fight his demons, and the only way he could truly defeat them was by coming to terms with Melissa and her death, which allows him to unlock the weapons he needs to finally defeat his trauma. In the end, the game helped him, and will continue helping people through their traumas with the game.
@@andrerey29 yeah but at least it was lighthearted, the only part that I don't really like is when everyone is show together like an MLP cartoon, it could've been cooler If they made it more subtle like, Zachary restarts the game and tests the level just for precaution and everything is normal, just as the way it was. You can play as godzilla, morthra and even the others normally, and when he gets to the end of the phase he finds Melissa, gives him an goodbye message and the rest can follow with the original story.(for the question mask, there could be an scene were Zachary finds them at the bottom of the map and the mask tells that they missed him)

I guess the ending makes sense if you consider The Face to be the actual spirit possessing the game, and the whole things purpose is to serve as a mirror reflecting the owner's inner demons and allowing them to confront them. He'd have to sell it on eBay for it to pass to a new owner and continue the story. Maybe Red takes a new form, or an entirely new horror is created? That would be cool.
If I remember correctly, the author got so much backlash from the ending that he made a second ending where the game cartridge gets sent flying from the NES and explodes never to be seen again, I think it was a joke ending

I super liked everything about this creepypasta. I actually really liked the ending. It was so unexpected to have a surge of angelic power. The creepypasta and this video does such a good job making you feel immersed in the darkness that you genuinely want to bust out of it. Unlike most creepypastas which aren't immersive enough for you to want a good ending. In most creepypastas you aren't as invested or scared, so you'd rather just have the ambiance of a grim ending than a divine intervention. Plus, I love spiritual stuff and angels.

Those Reddit users dont know what they talkin bout , sure the ending is a bit cliche but its better than most creepypastas with Hyper realistic blood , the monster of the story being satanic , black eyes with red pupils , the story taking a half hour or less to read , the author believing the game or cartoon episode is evil the first time something looks wrong , the game or tape being found or given to by an creepy old man/woman who are never seen again or being a lost episode of a kid show . just to name a few cliches in other creepypastas .

When you mentioned Red turning to look at Zach after he shouted in triumph, I suddenly remembered that the original Famicon had a microphone built into the second controller, which a few niche games could use to respond to your voice. That makes it all the more intimidating, because the game genuinely could’ve been programmed to react in that manner.

im not usually scared by creepypastas, but that first ''RUN" sequence legit made me tense up. the combination of the music, the lack of context, the environmental silence, the roars of Red. if that was a part in a real horror game i would have shit myself on god
There's something particularly creepy about the first few seconds. With the ambience and fire in the background followed by that shadowy silhouette running across the screen behind everything before you even know what it is. It just increases the fear factor that it then takes such a long time before Red even shows up on screen, adding to the immersion that this is something that exists outside of the game since a boss battle character wouldn't be programmed to take their time catching up to the player before it begins, and makes the entire sequence feel like it lasts forever as you're waiting, anticipating whatever is gonna happen, but yet... nothing... and nothing... and nothing...
About the condition of Melissa: there was an episode in Dr. House where a 6-8 yo girl had... epilleptic episodes according to her mother. She was still, than shaking, and even laughing at the end - her mothet said. House figured, the little girl... khm... unknowingly... touched herself and was experiencing orgasms. There is a condition where the climax happens without any stimulation and it affects women. That would explain for Melissa the shaking and her covering her face - maybe in shame - because what just happened to her, dosen't feels right. Maybe the writer really encountered this kind of condition or watched the episode of Dr. House.
I love that the creator took the time to design his own monsters and levels, that's some creepypasta dedication and they look really cool. So even if the ending is far fetched, I still think this is a cool world creation.
The sprite for Red and its movements made me laugh. It looks so silly flailing its arms at Godzilla and not being able to catch him, while it has this silly frowny face the whole time.

I cannot imagine this game in the game characters's perspectives.
Godzilla, or Gojira in Japan, a being who is known and feared as the King of Monsters; but yet compared to something like Red who is easily a few stories taller than him/her (I can't remember Godzilla's canon gender, sorry) and has spider legs, long clawed arms, a scorpion-like tail, giant mouth and looking like a rotting mass of meat? That must be terrifying. Thinking that you're the most unstoppable and scariest Kaiju, but this huge red thing can easily grab you and *eat you* when it catches you as if you're nothing but a small snack to it? I can't imagine how terrifying and demeaning that would be for our beloved King of Monsters.
And for our dear Mothra. She's a protector for the world, she's meant to keep humans safe from the terror of Godzilla before (at least to my memory?) becoming friends with Godzilla and the other Kaiju. I can't imagine how it would feel to be a protector but being completely powerless to stop what's happening to your friends because of this creature named Red keeps destroying everything you've been trying so desperately to protect. The poor girl must've been absolutely horrified to be living through this hellish situation.
Godzilla is referred to as a girl or a none gender pronoun depending on how nice they want to make her out to be she even gives birth in one of the movies I think she also give birth in 2 others but I’m not so sure since iv only seen little from them.
Then again she’s called the king of monsters so I think in the original and a few others after it she was a boy.
But later on when she was meant to be more of a protector and symbol of natures rightful wraith she became a girl and stayed that way since after that they never call her a boy only none gender or a girl.
My interpretation though is that she’s both she changes her gender based on what she needs it’s why she can be so gentle and kind but also ruff and mean because if she’s a real lizard like a dinosaur it really wouldn’t make sense other wise and certain lizard and frog species can do that.
But since that’s not lore confirmed she is a girl.

Zach never gave up at any point, he was trying to the end to unlock the forbidden character even whilst losing feeling.
The final fight was not effortless. Zach had half a health bar left before finally killing red.

it's not necessarily disturbing, the ending of revealing that the game is haunted is cliché, but with mel coming along and asking him to save her, it's sweet and totally out weights the cliche-ness, atleast for me.
It’s not cliche. It literally created the haunted game cartridge genre. It’s like watching really early Simpsons episodes and seeing all the plots that would be considered standard now but were revolutionary at the time.

It showed the sheer humanity of the protagonist in his fear and pain, as the realization of the overall paradox strikes you. He's still holding onto the memories of his loved one, refusing to let go even through all the pain this generates him.
This is what makes this particular creepypasta different. It is creepy, sure, but it is undoubtedly more realistic than the usual "found cartridge" creepypasta cliché.

Yeah I actually liked the ending. Most creepypastas like to do a "the bad ending " but I like this more ambivalent approach to this story.
The scariest thing about Red is the fact that his story is finally an original one for once, instead of being just another parody of Sonic.exe.

God, Sonic.exe is basically what everyone thinks of when they hear the word Creepypasta. I hate it as a member of the Sonic fandom, as I enjoy reading Creepypasta stories as well, as I find it interesting what people come up with. But I've even PLAYED Sonic.exe and it is not all that it is cracked up to be, I consider Sonic.exe to be the most boring of all Creepypastas. When I read NES Godzilla, I immediately enjoyed it, as I found it to be an intensely engaging story that was well crafted, similarly to other creepypastas I enjoy, like Hell Bell, Snow On Mount Silver or Starved. It's why I consider it to be one of my favorite creepypastas that I've read so far

I'm going to be 100% honest, the movie shin godzilla is 1000 times scarier than any internet godzilla horror story, like knowing this giant creature that is constantly in pain due to it constantly changing and bleeding and that it could hypothetically have evolved into another universe just to fight humans, and that the atomic breath scene has an opera song about not being remembered after who die, absolutely haunting, but I'm not saying nes Godzilla is bad, quite the contrary, it's my favorite creepypastas actually. Imagine for a second, a different version of this story: melissa suffers from mental issues that make her the butt of bullying all her life, and some sick high schooler, pretending to be her friend, made this ROM hack knowing it would disturb her. She goes to the guy that gave it to her, tries to show him what she's seen, but he pretends not to see anything. Her psychology and misplaced trust causes her to obsess over the cartridge and internalize its message of self destruction, eventually resulting in her death. The protagonist's story is him playing through the game, and gradually unraveling the mystery. In the end his disbelief in the supernatural is validated, but at the cost of becoming aware of a different kind of evil, and learning who is ultimately responsible for his friend's death. It would have been a huge trope subversion, unexpectedly highlighting how terrible people can use things we love to hurt and alienate us.

Honestly I think the game was actually trying to help Zach by having him literally play through his trauma. Red takes the form of his trauma, and people with traumatic experiences often blame themselves and the trauma even ‘consumes’ people if it’s that bad. The game has him literally fight his demons, and the only way he could truly defeat them was by coming to terms with Melissa and her death, which allows him to unlock the weapons he needs to finally defeat his trauma. In the end, the game helped him, and will continue helping people through their traumas with the game.

@@andrerey29 yeah but at least it was lighthearted, the only part that I don't really like is when everyone is show together like an MLP cartoon, it could've been cooler If they made it more subtle like, Zachary restarts the game and tests the level just for precaution and everything is normal, just as the way it was. You can play as godzilla, morthra and even the others normally, and when he gets to the end of the phase he finds Melissa, gives him an goodbye message and the rest can follow with the original story.(for the question mask, there could be an scene were Zachary finds them at the bottom of the map and the mask tells that they missed him)

I guess the ending makes sense if you consider The Face to be the actual spirit possessing the game, and the whole things purpose is to serve as a mirror reflecting the owner's inner demons and allowing them to confront them. He'd have to sell it on eBay for it to pass to a new owner and continue the story. Maybe Red takes a new form, or an entirely new horror is created? That would be cool.
If I remember correctly, the author got so much backlash from the ending that he made a second ending where the game cartridge gets sent flying from the NES and explodes never to be seen again, I think it was a joke ending

I super liked everything about this creepypasta. I actually really liked the ending. It was so unexpected to have a surge of angelic power. The creepypasta and this video does such a good job making you feel immersed in the darkness that you genuinely want to bust out of it. Unlike most creepypastas which aren't immersive enough for you to want a good ending. In most creepypastas you aren't as invested or scared, so you'd rather just have the ambiance of a grim ending than a divine intervention. Plus, I love spiritual stuff and angels.

Those Reddit users dont know what they talkin bout , sure the ending is a bit cliche but its better than most creepypastas with Hyper realistic blood , the monster of the story being satanic , black eyes with red pupils , the story taking a half hour or less to read , the author believing the game or cartoon episode is evil the first time something looks wrong , the game or tape being found or given to by an creepy old man/woman who are never seen again or being a lost episode of a kid show .

When you mentioned Red turning to look at Zach after he shouted in triumph, I suddenly remembered that the original Famicon had a microphone built into the second controller, which a few niche games could use to respond to your voice. That makes it all the more intimidating, because the game genuinely could’ve been programmed to react in that manner.

There's something particularly creepy about the first few seconds. With the ambience and fire in the background followed by that shadowy silhouette running across the screen behind everything before you even know what it is. It just increases the fear factor that it then takes such a long time before Red even shows up on screen, adding to the immersion that this is something that exists outside of the game since a boss battle character wouldn't be programmed to take their time catching up to the player before it begins, and makes the entire sequence feel like it lasts forever as you're waiting, anticipating whatever is gonna happen, but yet... nothing... and nothing... and nothing...

About the condition of Melissa: there was an episode in Dr. House where a 6-8 yo girl had... epilleptic episodes according to her mother. She was still, than shaking, and even laughing at the end - her mothet said. House figured, the little girl... khm... unknowingly... touched herself and was experiencing orgasms. There is a condition where the climax happens without any stimulation and it affects women. That would explain for Melissa the shaking and her covering her face - maybe in shame - because what just happened to her, dosen't feels right.
Maybe the writer really encountered this kind of condition or watched the episode of Dr. House.

I love that the creator took the time to design his own monsters and levels, that's some creepypasta dedication and they look really cool. So even if the ending is far fetched, I still think this is a cool world creation.
Personal highlight was the dear and lizard creatures in the forest levels.
The sprite for Red and its movements made me laugh. It looks so silly flailing its arms at Godzilla and not being able to catch him, while it has this silly frowny face the whole time.
