Just starting off with your personal story, I know that stuff is tough and overall it hurts that all that change happened out of your control so quickly. I'm proud of you for taking it in stride and using life to learn and grow. Here's to the future man, and keep up the hard work
I have owned a C8 Stingray Z51 for 9 months. I can confirm that indeed some interior components such as switch's knobs and buttons are from other GM vehicles such as the Chevy Bolt. However I have just attended the Ron Fellows Corvette driving school and all I can say is those interior shortcuts don't matter when you can buy a car with the performance capabilities these cars posses. The C8 is a great touring car with comfortable suspension and seating along with 27 mpg on flat roads. GM has built this car for enthusiast not for black-tie regalia but it does impress on the pull up as I get questions and attention at most stops even in Los Angeles.
Very nice review. I'd be interested in hearing more about why you feel the C8 doesn't make "supercar" status. 0-60 in 2.9. Top speed 195. 7:29.9 on the Nurburgring...faster than quite a few "official" supercars. It also has available magnetic ride suspension... Yeah, it's a pushrod engine...but it is 495hp...and for real mid-engined. It has a "track mode", that opens up the exhaust to more "freeflow", and sounds quite a bit louder/better. Not sure I'd put it in a GT category, those seem more for front engined "coupes" to me, but the C8 certainly performance wise mingles in there with a lot in the official supercar category. I'd say the Z06 and E-Ray versions definitely qualify for "supercar" status... Plus, you can remove the roof panel...that makes this a whole different car IMO.
I Really enjoyed your video and take on the C8 Corvette Stingray, everything you said about it was spot on! when I got my used 2022 Corvette Stingray w/ only 972 miles on it first things I did was change the stock air filter for a Blue Attack air filter, powder coated my grey wheels High gloss black metallic and got my Uniden R8 radar detector installed then I changed the stock exhaust out for a Corsa Extreme muffler delete catback w/ AFM valves and changed the black engine cover to a red one and finally I took off my Michelin pilot sport all season run flat tires and put on Michelin pilot sport 4S regular tires and all those mods Really Woke the car up and now I have 1468 miles on the car and I Continue to enjoy driving this car every chance I get !!! ;)
I love the c8 but the c7 has overall been my favorite corvette because of how many I’ve been in because my uncle is just in love with them. the c7 does have a special place in my heart.
Love my C8 and thanks for sharing the video, part of your life’s journey! Sometimes it’s not about the destination but the journey to get where you want or need to be. Continued success and if ever in the Indy area give a shoutout!
Excellent review of a dream car i know i'll never own. Although i've never driven one, I've always been a fan of the Cadillac V series as well. For me, that' would be the pick given my age. If I could manage to get into a 'Vette, I doubt I could get out!
4 months late but wanted to say some things. Not sure why but I had a feeling you were from Chicago. Super excited for you seeing all that you're doing, I had to sub. I'm also proud of you for making the moves you have in the midst of a changing life. It's really encouraging. I hope things are going well right now man. Thanks for making awesome videos.
I believe C8 is an actual supercar. Sure, this is a fan made term, and everyone is free to define it as whatever they want. To me for a car to be a supercar it takes: - acceleration in at least 4 second range - unusual engine placement, including rear, rear-mid and front-mid - at least 400 hp, better like 500+ - some tech associated with supercars - being somewhat pricy and luxurious - supercar brand name - being a rival to other supercar Not all of those boxes need to be checked, like some older Ferraries have 0-60 times in 6es, but they certainly are supercars. Nissan GTR is not luxurious and has Nissan badge on it, but it IS a supercar at least by being a 911 Turbo S competitor. I also believe early 475 hp GTRs were not supercars, they only became ones when the power got upgraded to 530. The C8 has an 8-cylinder, a dual-clutch, nearly 500 hp, is mid-engined and is luxurious enough. This is more supercar that some early Porsche 911 Turbos with torque converter automatics. And who in their right mind will doubt a 911 Turbo is a supercar?
the system knocks .doors designed to shake 1400 watts. and its the best driving car i ever driven. may your journey in life be Blessed and protected bro.
Great video! Watching as I await my Z06 delivery in a couple weeks (built 5 days ago). BTW: my buddy has over 100k miles on his C8, and drives it across the country all the time. Says it is the ultimate cross-country car.
Just picked one of these up in October... Contemplating taking it on my ATL to BOS 1000 mile one-way trip. I notice that driving this is like F1 and Ferrari big time. It feels more in touch with the ground than my first-gen R8 V10. Great video, subbed. ooh edit to add--the directional turn signal stalk is a big deal for me. I notice this one goes full turn signal even when trying signal breifly
I got my 2024 1LT for 66k new. I put on wheels, lowering springs, used z51 spoiler with wickers, front splitter and a NPP exhaust I got for 100 bucks. I couldn't be happier. I never noticed the z51 package on my older vette and I noticed I didn't need the HUD or seat lumbar options. I'm fat and tall, the seat only goes to one position haha. The only thing I wish I had were the GT2 style seats. They just look better.
You got love from Chicago. I'm here watching your content and yes I own a C6 grand sport convertible. I've been looking for a more personal review of the C8 and now I want 1 more than ever thanks bro!!!
First time viewer and it was worthwhile. Kind of disrupting on your life with all the personal changes at once, but you are handling it well. Just keep developing yourself and let the rest of the world keep chugging along. I thought your review was down to earth and accurate. For a more than adequately quick GT type of car, the C8 Stingray with Z51 and LT3 is the way to go. Plenty of performance and not a totally huge operational expense. Comfort is good on the highway. I did that trip to Seattle from NYC a couple of decades ago and the part beyond Chicago was the best driving part. East of the Mississippi and North of the Mason Dixon line is by far my least favorite place to drive in America. The American West west of I35 is where the roads start to open up.
This car CANNOT be tested by cruising the highway. The actual numbers ON THE RACETRACK are there to honestly say this is a supercar, and its not just acceleration. This car is neck and neck with a 150,000 dollar Porsche Carrera S in 2LT Z51 guise. It shoots above the Porsche with aftermarket springs and engine intake airbox and filter on outright track supremacy. There isn't a car on the market that comes close in the 80k range on track period. It is also faster than the original 458 ON ANY TRACK I am aware of. To only look at acceleration numbers is not what this car or series offers. GM went above and beyond the original Acura NSX idea of a affordable Ferrari beater road car that is mass produced.
For the Track? Sure there is. Chevy makes the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE. Ford just stopped producing the GT500. And you definitely could get this kind of track performance from a C7 GS or Z06. The C8 Z51 is a wonderful car but the main focus for it isn’t the track.
I luv the rear end design other outside angles are supercar knockoff inside is 🔥 tho im going to stick with my 2019 1SS GM finally thinking outside the box front end and weird taillights nevertheless the C8 is a banger! Best of luck on your eastcoast journey! signed subscribed🙂
Why does the Corvette C8 Z06 have to be the "budget Ferrari"? I mean do we refer to cars like for instance the Porsche 911 to be a budget car of something else?
Well it'd be hard to call the 911 the budget version of anything when they make some of the most expensive rear-engine sports cars you can buy. Not to mention the most capable performance-wise.
@@CarswithMiles my point is the C8 models are definitely not budget versions of anything else. Also you wouldn't want a Ferrari anyway, they put you through way too much crap just to own one.
You didn’t have the car in sport/track mode. That car does 0-60 in 3 seconds with no super charger and a top speed of 194mph. C’mon man….in the right hands of a driver, that car smokes Ferraris, lambos and other super cars that aren’t super charged.
You sure you watched it all the way through? 😅 You can see my POV driving footage with the car in Sport mode. Tour & Snow mode have a blue background on the gauge cluster and Sport & Track Mode have a red background. See it @4:29 And sure, it's quicker than Ferraris/Lambos from 10-15 years ago. But the C8 isn't faster than any new Lambo or Ferrari being sold today. Still really like the car though!
@@CarswithMiles actually I did watch it all the way through….a couple of times. As for the car….is it faster than a 911? Not in capable hands. Is it faster than an 812 or current MacLaren?? Ehhh….probably not. But for for a dude who wants a sub 3 second car with zero after market mods, that’s hard to beat. As a guy about to plop down discretionary income on one, I see your point for pros/cons. But heck man….getting something that had the ability to hang with my neighbors’ is enough reason for me to say hell yeah…hell my wife said hell yeah. Can’t wait to have mine and see if I can beat my runtime from my neck if the woods to the birder…. Keep grinding
Brother. I was looking forward to this review after seeing your other reviews; but your enthusiasm for this review vs. say the Jaguar review you did. THIS IS A $60,000 mid-engine 2.9 second AMERICAN muscle car. Idk, the way this car feels, is special - feels much more like an exotic at a ridiculous price point. Maybe its just where you were at in life, mentioning everything you had on your mind, but I dont think you did this review justice. I do like your other reviews though, hope you keep keepin on. FYI th-cam.com/video/rQlOBwaOTvI/w-d-xo.html - C8 vs Ferrari & Lamborghini - if supercar just means it costs >$100K then yes, this is not a supercar...but if super car means insane horsepower, insane 0 to 60 times, and an exotic look/feel with a mid-engine chassis - this is most definitely a supercar brother
