      I am making a mousssaaakka tonight. I used to work in an Italian restaurant briefly back in the 80 s who was owned by a Greek/Italian/Vlach speaking family. I was a teenager but i learned how to make Greek food too as well as NYC Italian. I never knew which language they were speaking. I had 2 semesters of Greek at univ so i know a bit now. 😎 But still have never been to Elatha to speak some Elenika. Maybe this year hopefully

    That 'oxi' on the castle doesn't mean don't come here! In Greece+Cyprus we celebrate Oxi Day as a public holiday every year on 28 th October. The Oxi or No represents the Greek answer to Mussolini's ultimatum to Greece in 1940 during WW2. So in other words it's symbolic of the Greek fight and resistance movement against the Nazis and Italians and celebrates the ultimate victory of the second world war!

    It seems that the jets are part of the UK aerobatic team RED ARROWS doing their training schedule . They are regularly come to Greece since aerospace is more free than UK and the weather is better, so it is easier for them to be prepared for the summer shows. Very close to Chalkis at Tanagra (Greek mainland) is the 114 Combat Wing (Hellenic Air Force Airbase) where usually hosts the Red Arrows.

    Hello Gabriel,
    The small bridge inside Halkitha that connects Evia with the mainland there's a phenomenon that every 6 hours the waters stop flowing in one direction they turn and start flowing the other way. In antiquity one prominent scientist called Euripus studied this phenomenon but could not explain why this is happening,he killed himself by jumping in the water. So this strip of water is also called 'The narrows of Euripus '.
    The walk by the seaside in Halkitha is beautiful with beautiful buildings. I hope you can see this beautiful promenade.

      There are practically no islands with any turks on them. Rhodes perhaps has a small number. turks didn’t colonize the 4,000+ Year old continuously inhabited Hellenic islands outside of a few major ones.
      You have to remember, almost all the Coast of turkey are Hellenic as well as many regions inland as well. They are an newcomer to this region on the grand scale of the Historical Timeline

    Please so some respect and responsibility. You are entering in an archeological site a day that is officially closed (due to a public holiday) through a fence??? I mean really? And you expect to have a sign "Please do not enter"? Oh my.. Imagine if this was happening in the US..

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      At what point in the video? Do you mean the ruins at 23:30? Google maps directed me to that point where I parked. It appeared that the way to visit the site was through the fence. There were no signs in English or in Greek saying not to enter or what the times of entering the site were, so there's no way I could know that it was closed for a holiday.

    • @EviaPrivateTours
      @EviaPrivateTours 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GabrielTravelerVideos So, you basically crack the code like you said and you expect to have a manual for it? In Greece, when there is a fence, its pretty obvious you dont crack it. I know in your country is different, you need instructions about everything.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So how do you visit the ruins, are you saying there is another entrance where there was a ticket office? Because I thought I was at the place where you park to see them and I didn't see another entrance anywhere. There were absolutely no signs explaining anything. If it's a problem then they can put up some signs informing people how to visit the ruins, where the entrance is, the hours, etc. You can't expect people to know it's closed for a holiday without informing them of that somehow. Most places in Greece that charge a fee will have signs in Greek and English. I've traveled all over Greece so I'm quite familiar with the country.
