    That 'oxi' on the castle doesn't mean don't come here! In Greece+Cyprus we celebrate Oxi Day as a public holiday every year on 28 th October. The Oxi or No represents the Greek answer to Mussolini's ultimatum to Greece in 1940 during WW2. So in other words it's symbolic of the Greek fight and resistance movement against the Nazis and Italians and celebrates the ultimate victory of the second world war!

    Hi Gabriel! Evia(Evoia) is a beautiful island. Visited there last year in June, I feel it's on the underrated side and not many people choose to go. There's a lot of nice places to hike around there, and a lot of streams thanks to the Dirfi mountain, it's also a little bit more green as well. (writing this comment before seeing the video ) Check out Paralia Chiliadou if you have the time, It's a nice drive there going up the mountains with a lot of surreal views and at one point you get to see across the Aegean sea, it's a nice secluded type of beach I think you'd like ! Lot's of small little towns along the way as well. Enjoy Ellada once again !

      Those specific ones are actually British. Red Arrows I think they are called. They train there as well. But yes, in Greece you will see Hellenic Jets often..👍🏻

    Gabriel be careful wondering on all those "abandoned" castles ... between all these rocks there are certainly some snakes and more rarely scorpions too.

    Hello Gabriel,
    The small bridge inside Halkitha that connects Evia with the mainland there's a phenomenon that every 6 hours the waters stop flowing in one direction they turn and start flowing the other way. In antiquity one prominent scientist called Euripus studied this phenomenon but could not explain why this is happening,he killed himself by jumping in the water. So this strip of water is also called 'The narrows of Euripus '.
    The walk by the seaside in Halkitha is beautiful with beautiful buildings. I hope you can see this beautiful promenade.

    It cracks me up. I always know what you're going to purchase in a market! I love how you explore historical sites and take us with you. I imagine the people that lived during those times and what they may have suffered at the hands of an evil ideology that persists to this present day.

    Welcome to Greece, your narratives in general in the videos are very good, where you are in the amphitheater, apparently by mistake you did not mention the correct number of Persian losses in the battle of Marathon, according to Herodotus the Persian losses were 6,400 not 640 , the Athenians had 192 casualties and the Plataean 11. They also lost 7 ships.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes, 6,400. That's what I said, same as the capacity of the amphitheater. Great to be back in Greece.✌️

    Man we love when you go to greece you could just spend a couple months there exploring the islands that you haven’t seen. I am interested to see the one island not cyprus where there are both greeks and turks living i think there are only a couple

    • @SpartanLeonidas1821
      @SpartanLeonidas1821 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are practically no islands with any turks on them. Rhodes perhaps has a small number. turks didn’t colonize the 4,000+ Year old continuously inhabited Hellenic islands outside of a few major ones.
      You have to remember, almost all the Coast of turkey are Hellenic as well as many regions inland as well. They are an newcomer to this region on the grand scale of the Historical Timeline

    Northern Evia was devastated by enormous forest fires a couple of years ago. The mountain valleys had unique biodiversity that would be worth exploring, but not sure what state it is in now.

    It's always good to see your videos, Gabe.I guess you're planning to visit the famous ancient dragon houses, am i right?
    P.S. tommorow shops, food stores and super markets in Greece will stay open until 15:00 o'clock, at some occasions until 18:00 o'clock.
    Pack your bag wise with enough food and water for the next three days cause stores will open again on Wednesday.
    I can't hardly wait for your next Greek adventure.
