    The Gravemind doesn't have the ability to teleport, he's just using the teleportation grid of Delta Halo. He teleports Chief to High Charity because, High Charity is close to Delta Halo's orbit. He teleports Arbiter to a certain area of Delta Halo, because he is in Delta Halo. This is just like Cortana using the teleportation grid of Alpha Halo in Halo CE. Plot convenience, yes, but a plot hole, no.

    • @CommanderM117
      @CommanderM117 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      exactly and he it could of used the teleport grid when on high Charity to access the ark or the spark he still had that likely how he can uses the tp grid any way

      If the grid goes out into space that far, why didn't cortana use it in the final mission on chief and the longsword? Plot hole detected

      only small human sized thing can be teleported and it goes as far as to were the halo and high Charity also cortanna could only access it if she was plugged into like the spark

      she only has control of system she connected to ether by remote like some system of UNSC ship or by plugging in forerunner stuff likely need direct connect or have a spark that is away connected but she did pick up how to tp but chief was up side down

    Number 4: While it does seem like a bad decision made by the Prophets from our perspective, from the prophet's perspective, or at least Truth's perspective, it's a political move. During the underwater section, Cortana theorizes how we'd be doing Truth a favor by taking out Regret. Later in the game, we see how Truth ordered the execution of the council. The common denominator? The Prophet of Truth. He was power hungry and wanted complete control of the Covenant for himself. The elites would never allow this. The Brutes, however, are loyal and easily controlled.
    Truth recalled the phantoms because he wanted Regret to die by MC's hands and thus he could blame the elites and thus remove them from the guard. It was a PR and a political move to move closer towards the ousting of and elimination of the elites as Truth consolidated power.
    It's a very subtle storyline throughout Halo 2 but it's a primary plot driver on the Covenant side of things. Truth never saw the humans as a threat and figured that their demise was at hand with the discovery of Earth. He was arrogant and he bit off more than he could chew.

    The reason why that body wasn't infected was because the flood leaves traps to entice even more people to follow. It has been proven in the books that the flood would do something like this

    • @FlutterMike
      @FlutterMike 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      But, in my studies, the Flood requires a central intelligence (Gravemind) in order to set such traps. And there was no Gravemind on Installation 04.

    • @xCharjx
      @xCharjx 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That is a good theory. Humans did rival the forerunners at one point.

    • @LIONtib
      @LIONtib 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Humans are Reclaimers. Forerunner tech responds to a Reclaimer's presence, and the Librarian stated in Halo 4 that Chief's armour and ancilla (Cortana) were conceived and planned before the first firing of the Array. Basically, Forerunners dictated modern humans' history, apart from the Covenant, which was a very unlucky coincidence. As such, human technology is based on Forerunner technology, and they are, at least somewhat, compatible.

    Number 6: The Halo’s teleportation could’ve been limited to the area around the ring. High Charity came over Installation 05 so it was in range. Maybe there were even safeties that prevented the Flood from teleporting.

    The marine wasn’t infected because he fought off the flood that came after him but got hit by one of the spores. If you read the book those particular spores were very weak and weren’t all capable of infecting people. The other flood drug off the other marines and were able to infect them. Remember Johnson was apart of that same group and he got away (because he was immune).

    • @lonenelson5674
      @lonenelson5674 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Johnson is not at all immune . He's just harder to infect due to his time in the Orion Project

    • @SSGTTailsJenkins
      @SSGTTailsJenkins 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You're confusing Private Mendoza with Private Jenkins. Mendoza is the dead marine that falls out of the door, whereas Jenkin's helmet is the one John-117 picks up. Jenkins was infected by a weak infection form, and so it couldn't entirely kill him - this gave Jenkins enough control over his own mind and body that he could fight back against it, even move around and talk of his own free will. It was excruciatingly painful however, and he tried killing himself several times - only for the Flood form to retake control before he could follow through.
      Mendoza, in the books, is infected and attacks John - probably because the developers realized the consistency error. Being uninfected in the game was just a way of building tension and frightening the player without actually revealing anything.

    For the Gravemind teleportation one:
    Remember in Halo CE when Cortana tapped in to Halo’s teleportation grid to move Chief around the ring? And Spark did it too? Gravemind fully corrupted 2401 Penitent Tangent with the Logic Plague and gained control over some of Halo’s Systems through him. You say he teleported the duo to “different places in the galaxy” but High Charity was already at Delta Halo at this point.

    • @FierceDeitySponce
      @FierceDeitySponce 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      4: this was touched upon a bit more in the supplemental content disc with Halo 2: Limited Edition. They clearly planned on doing even more, but ya know, time constraints.

    • @FierceDeitySponce
      @FierceDeitySponce 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      3: We learn in the books that Cortana’s info is HIGHLY classified. She can’t even tell Chief that their “blind jump” was actually her coordinates. This is easily explained by saying she’s acting until enough information is revealed naturally.

    • @FierceDeitySponce
      @FierceDeitySponce 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      2: for all we know, this DID happen, but since Bungie was closing the trilogy they never bothered to go into it and instead used the excuse that Gravemind, unaware of Alpha Halo’s reconstruction, wanted his entire army outside the range of all the active Halos. Perhaps he was in too great a hurry to get to safety to even consider pulling over? Maybe he did and 343i didn’t think about it or is saving it for later?

    Number 3: Cortana actually purposefully went to the ring's coordinates because she found them in an intercepted signal from a covenant ship. Additionally my guess is she played off her surprise so that it looked less like she set specific coordinates in their escape jump rather than the standard random coordinates.

    • @thecavalierpanda
      @thecavalierpanda 6 ปีที่แล้ว +67

      I'm just gonna take a breath with that one.
      [single breath]
      Look, Halsey was in charge of the spartan II programme. She oversaw the process of picking candidates for said programme. She would know each of these candidates as only 33 survived augmentations. Therefore, Halsey not knowing who was apart of the spartan II programme is very unlikely. The reason Jorge is the big one of the group is because he's a spartan II as you said. Spartan II's have an average height of 7ft, and so even by comparison its easy to see the difference between spartan III's and Spartan II's by appearance alone.
      I know you probably just didn't know about this but also, I think Halsey would've been a bit worried about where the rest of Noble team's mjolnir armour went if she thought they were spartan II's 😂. Considering Master chief's and the rest of the spartan II's armour costs the same as a small star ship.

Dr. Halsey knew about noble team because of jorge- Jorge is a Spartan II (the rest of Noble Team are Spartan IIIs) just like the Master Chief and Halsey was basically the one running the program that created the Spartan IIs. The reason he refers her to mom was because the Spartan IIs were kidnapped when they were children and thus don't remember their parents. Because Halsey was really the only adult female in their lives it was only natural they considered her their mother. To the knowledge I seen Her knowledge of Spartan III dont go further
    6. Gravemind was using the Delta halo teleportation systems teleporting arbiter to another part of delta halo and since high charity was close enough to delta halo the teleportation was able to make a connection with high charity and teleport Master chief to IT the only other use of the teleportation system was to effect the rest of delta halo
    5. The Flood uses bait and will leave bio mass to lure in more victims (explain by a book) once they have there prey the will eventually transform the bait
    4. The prophets couldnt trust the elites anymore because they where getting to close to the truth so they where expecting some kind of coup and did the transition of the guard to the brute but they where not expecting it to lead to a all out civil war this only happen because brutes where starting to kill some of the elites who where against the change as well has elites being disrespected hurting them in a honor sense
    3. Cortana did show that she did have some knowledge of forerunner but she had no clue about halo and was more shock & awe about halo but there knowledge of forerunner and ancient humanity was very limited most of the forerunner stuff they have found was on harvest and Reach (plus halo was the first game so a lot of the lore was not formed)
    2. High charity got to the ark by hyperspace there was a second portal located on mars SO yes high charity was actually in the Sol systems but gravemind was too worried about the ark being fired and knew he would need almost all his forces but he did drop some flood off example being the Covenant flood ship crashing onto earth
    If there are any correction or I left something out please let me know :)

    Number 3: She's absolutely aware and you showed the clip revealing that. When she's in the control room, in the system, she says, "This ring... it's forerunner. Give me a sec." The tone and verbiage implies that she is well aware of the Forerunners existence. Take her awe in context of the time. Everyone is aware that humans aren't alone. Not only is there aliens but there are numerous other aliens who are sentient in nature. Then, by the time of Reach, Cortana, at least becomes aware of ancient, but much more advanced civilizations. With all of these aliens and ancient aliens, I think it's a bunch more nuanced than making assumptions on the origin of things.

    Clarification for No. 6 - Remember back to Halo 1. Cortana was able to teleport Master Chief using his energy shield, much like the way 343 Guilty Spark was able to teleport throughout the facility. Both Master Chief and the Arbiter have energy shields, and along with having a monitor in his possession, he was able to use the same technique to transport them both. Flood forms do not have these at their disposal.
    Thumbs up so everyone can see and understand!!!

He knew that he couldn't have the elites working with the brutes without conflict with each other trying to rule over each other. Truth withdrew their elite phantoms because he needed Regret to die to use an excuse to banish the elites. Truth needed both prophets to die to gain full power.

This must have been a problem with the flood and they had to use the insanely advanced technology of the precursors (them in another state), to rebalance the problem and to let the flood continue their plan of the “test” in hopefully halo 6. Right?

      The Flood is actually ancient Precursors. When the they were losing the war against the Forerunners, the Precursors decided to escape. They preserved their bodies by basically turning into powder that would later be reconstituted into their original selves. However, their powdered forms mutated and corrupted. Then, ancient Humans discovered this 'harmless' powder and found out they could use it to make their then-cutest pets even cuter. However, after applying this powder for a few generations, their pets began sprouting deformities that would come to resemble the Flood's tentacles. These deformities then spread onto humans and shit hit the fan.

    I can explain the Gravemind teleportation situation. He is using Halo's teleportation grid. He can not teleport anywhere off the ring he is currently on. He can't just teleport Flood forms to another planet. Cortana took advantage of the grid in Halo. It explains it deeper in the novel "The Flood". High Charity was within the grid because it was close enough to the Halo ring.

    as for number six: its probably because the teleportation system seems very similar to the rings teleportation system, its likely in the teleporters development its design is to not allow flood based biomass to pass through, so basically grave mind just threw the arbiter and chief through realizing he could use it in such a way since no flood can pass through.

Arbiter was teleported to another place on the ring, and MC was transported to High Charity which was well within range of Delta Halo. The most likely explanation is that the transporting system has fail-safes that prevent flood genetic material from using it.

    No. 3: Cortana and Halsey studied some ruins underground on a planet. Its totally acceptable that she was unaware that the Forerunners were capable of making a planet sized mechanical death machine. That's like digging a book in one spot and finding a ship in another. Just because we we're aware that something lived before us, seeing massive constructs with no knowledge on the previous species capabilities should make you wonder.

  • @E101ification

    The Gravemind doesn't teleport Chief and the Arbiter to "completely different parts of the galaxy," He teleports the Arbiter to another part of the same Halo ring and teleports Chief to High Charity which was in orbit around that Halo ring. He really only had the ability to teleport from one part of that Halo ring to another, and a short distance outside of it.

  • @mellow1128
    @mellow1128 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    when the gravemind transports the chief and the Arbiter, it's not like they're going to different planetary systems. The Arbiter is just getting moved to a different spot on the ring itself, and the chief is just being transported into orbit where High charity is sitting. What I think is going on is since the gravemind has a monitor in that cutscene, he has access to the Rings teleportation Network.

However, it could only teloport things to places on the ring.

    I think that that the Gravemind can teleport Chief and the Arbiter because he had 2401 Penitent Tangent in his custody. The monitors have been shown to have the ability to teleport anywhere on the rings they oversee (this is seen when Guilty Spark transported Chief on Installation 04 to the Library). The Arbiter was sent to another place on the ring, which makes sense for this theory. Chief, however, was sent to High Charity. At this time High Charity was quite close to Installation 05, so maybe it was still within the teleportation range. So the Gravemind's access to Penitent Tangent's teleportation abilities is why I think he could do that. This same thing is also my theory as to why Guilty Spark was able to escape Installation 04 so quickly at the time of its destruction. That's just my theory. :)

    When the Gravemind teleported MC to High Charity, High Charity was already at Delta Halo. Arbiter was sent to a place ON Delta Halo, and MC was sent NEAR Delta Halo. So, to answer your question about Gravemind not using teleportation as a weapon, perhaps the Forerunners knew to limit the teleportation range to only the area on or near the Halo so that the Flood couldn't spread with it. The Forerunners thought about these kinds of things in great depth

  • @lucasthompson6983
    @lucasthompson6983 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know I am way late on commenting on this, but as far as the flood not turning chief into a flood zombie my theory is it is the Mjolnir armor's shield. I acknowledge that you stated shields shouldn't exist yet, but they are in the game. If you look when they try to jump at you they pop and your shield goes down just a little. So I think the shield is blocking them from doing what they do and killing them at the same time. As far as the body being left behind in the first game, the flood show later on that they are capable of not taking certain humans as an act for a greater plan. Maybe that one body was meant to draw more humans in.

    Number 6, the teleportation system is only limited to which ever halo ring you are on. Its mentioned on halo 1 at the end of the mission 2 betrayals. Chief wants to find a ride but Cortana has a better idea, she hacked into the very same teleportation system. She says that's how the monitor gets around the ring so fast, it was initially built for its monitor for quick transportation around its ring

  • @drclong1080

    Number 6: the gravemind could only use the teleportation on the halo ring. Both chief and the arbiter were on the ring when “captured” and still on the ring after teleporting with the exception that chief went to high charity. But high charity was in orbit very close to the ring throughout the game. In halo ce, Cortana used the same teleporting system after the mission two betrayals and the oracle used it countless times but only on the ring.

    You do know in Dr. Halsey's journal (if you got the halo reach limited edition) it states how she found out they were not Spartan 2s but didn't know where they came from.

    4.38 maybe he could just teleport them to locations on the halo ring

    The EV on their armor (as well as sometimes for the ODSTs) was to assist in preventing Camouflaged Covenant Soldiers from Ambushing them. Chief uses his EV for this in First Strike to great effect.

    the Reason that the Halo Rings name and class is known to the PoA is because Cortana learned about the Ring on the artefact on Reach, and brought the PoA there as its 'random' Slipspace jump as per the Cole Protocol, and as to why she was so surprised with the ring, well, if you had witnessed an Alien building on a world, that would be pretty cool, but if you saw a world that was literally built by Aliens, well, that would be beyond comprehension.

    My explanation for the gravemind teleport problem is that it can only teleport things to locations where it has flood forms present

    As for why the Gravemind has Chief and Arbiter do his bidding, I should think it's pretty obvious that it didn't intend to start a full scale war until it knew that the Halos would be neutralized as a threat.

    number 6: It's highly likely that a Halo ring's local teleportation grid is limited to uninfected lifeforms. It would make sense that the forunners would design their system as to not be used by the flood.

    I like to think that since halo follows our history for the most part, that halo games came out in the 21st century that unknowingly predicted the future of their universe, but were lost to time.

    So, in regards to the Gravemind teleporting: I’m pretty sure he can tap into Halo’s network and teleport like the Monitor can. Which would explain the Arbiter, but not Chief. Maybe High Charity was close enough to Halo for teleporting?

    With the teleportation "plot hole", it is explained in Halo 1 that the Halos have slip space teleportation arrays on them. This is used in H1 to get MC onto the Truth and Reconciliation.
    So in H2 it isn't that the Gravemind can teleport people wherever, it is that he is hijacking the second array's teleport system to send MC an the Arbiter to different areas.
    Considering that he already was fighting the Cov in multiple areas at that time and either had, or was in the process of taking over the Forward Unto Dawn to attack High Charity with (possibly by teleporting flood combat forms onto said ship) there was no reason for him to use it for any other reason.
    He sends the Arbiter to the main control center to stop the array from firing. However, he already has flood forms in the area ready to strike. This is merely to cause more chaos and lessen the chances of the array firing.
    He sends MC to High Charity, which he already plans on attacking, to cause chaos so that when the Forward Unto Dawn slams into HC they aren't ready for that assault, because they are already getting torn a new one my MC.

    The forerunner teleportation grid had failsafe against flood spores and forms from traveling through it, not a hole, but fair point so can't blame you there

    Regarding the memory loss, that was only a fragment of cortana, so it is possible that cortana's main memory contained no knowledge of the forerunners
