- The Badlands. Home to some of the strangest creatures to ever walk this earth.
The Gravel Wars span multiple continents and biomes, and in this documentary, we will be delving into the niche marine environments of these battlegrounds.
Join our totally-not-bootleg David Attenborough impressionist, Heckolo, as he explores the fascinating lives of pyrosharks, turtling engineers, spycrabs, and more.
Welcome to the wondrous world of water. Welcome to the Great Blue.
Was it really worth spending 2 months on a video to make one big weapon reskins joke? Absolutely.

Not mge players in tf2 be like, or trading in tf2 be like, or bad trickstab tutorials be like, but those videos are just as good as this one so you should watch them as well! - เกม
No animals were harmed in the making of this documentary. Well, except for the spycrab
Show the narrator of this video some love on his channel!
www.youtube.com/@heckolo1122
(Also the canonical reason that the tourist dying was fine was because the documentary program is allowed one gruesome human death per episode)
Why not
But the spycrab is endangered
what about the piranha scout that died to a pyroshark
how dare you?
will there be part 2 or not?
Animal reskins in nature always seemed like a strange case to me.
On one hand if you like how an animal works but hate how it looks it's nice to have another option to choose from. But on the other hand, animal reskins usually look like they would function differently from their counterpart.
@@russellkee5541 And I've always thought it would be neat if cool looking animals like the Spycrab had more of an identity than "Its the Pootis Bird but endangered"
@@j.a.m.m all of should have worked at the documentary
I'm so sick of these comments
@@marshmellowguy586 These comments on TH-cam have always been a strange case to me.
Spy crabs only seem extinct because of their natural ability to perfectly mimic the appearance of other animals
and there are reports of an ability to turn invisible.
seeing a spycrab's true form, is truly an honor.
A creature that exists and it hunts Spycrabs
Stage 4 pyro mains
@@BonicchrackpainI believe this spy crab has adapted to have the ability to fake there deaths! Even more rare
My frog a spycrab?
also because i like to collect them. they, in fact, hunt down sniper-gators. funny thing to see a bunch of spy crabs rip apart a sniper-gator
This has a 2010 style of filming / setup that i appreciate heavily
HEAVYly
As an avid TF2 fan who's working towards a career in Wildlife Management, this brings a tear to my eye. Nature is brutal and awe inspiring, and hopefully one day, the Spycrab populations will be able to make a comeback
You are the only hope.
S A V E T H E S P Y C R A B S
plot twist: we already are spycrabs in disguise
Man, I can't believe you hired David Attenborough to voice this.
Thank you Derbly! That means a lot.
David must really love tf2 to have voiced a masterpiece like this
Thanks Derbly! Im glad you liked it.
The truth he used AI for this
@@tonk5242 No he didn't, that's the real David Attenborough speaking!
I would watch an hour long documentary of this
YES YES YES YES YES
Yes
YES
YES
Quick, give him more names for the wildlife creatures
I'll start with the Yetis (Heavies with the Yeti's cosmetics... Although I dunno if he did those already)
2:23 "The parents are nowhere to be found." got me laughing
The parents went to buy milk. They will be back... i think
You should do more of this,
Here's some animals you should do;
- A bold Eagle as a Trolldier, habitat in Hightower only.
- A Cheetah as a Demoknight.
a rhino would fit demo more tbh and scout has chettah cosmetics
And the most dangerious animal;
Phlogpyro
UHM ACCUALLY ITS SPLEED BALDD EAGLE 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
@@dr_bapsAnd Cheetahs are actually very weak
@@dr_bapsSo it would only make sense
You could've so easily made a great blue gator joke and it infuriates me
I wrote the script before he spent $3700 on commissioning a fursona OC
wow
@@rawccoonwhat
He did what?
Sorry for being so slow, but I need more context.
I dont mind an hour long documentary like this. I need more
Same
Also why no one comments
I would be down to whatch an hour long documentary
No this documentary needs to be at least 10hours long
2:11 the pyro shark being too stupid to realize it shouldn’t be alive sounds like something they would actually say in the comics
The single blood decal at 8:23 was so unreasonably funny considering the talk of the G rating
this is a GREAT video, it BLUE my mind.
Lol
:0
Hah.
nice pun
“Rolls on Deck laughing”
5:38 BRO 😂
Thank you Raw! It was a blast working with you as always. I'm very proud of how it turned out.
nice job mate
Really nice video, one thing though you forgot to mention The Observer at 4:35, I can excuse this mistake because as a researcher I know how hard it is to find these amazing creatures and document them, still this is an amazing video with a lot of useful information! Keep up the good work lads!
I don't think it can be overstated enough how extraordinary this footage really is. The Observer is even more rare than the Legendary Spycrab! Managing to get a glimpse of this extremely elusive species on camera is an outstanding accomplishment by all means. Great job! 👍
Something that would be incredible would be that in the next documentary they show the Pootis bird, it is a great friendly bird and it is one of my favorite animals
@@Curly_Horsewe currently have next to zero information or data about these nicknamed “observers” all that we is that they well. Observe and area of interest.
Local tales and cave paintings show observers have been around watching for a long time,
Local legends and mythology tells us that these abstract creatures are attracted to sightings or soon to be sightings of a mass murder likely from a human war zone or animal take overs.
FELLOW RESAERCHERS, I HAVE URGENT NEWS ABOUT THE ONSERVERS THEY A-MMMFFF FMM!*static*
It's said that most footage of the observer is accidental. It's said that all "actual film" of the observer are actually hoaxes or fabricated.
We need more of these types of documentaries. Truly the majestic wildlife amongst the badlands are captivating.
In the next 'If TF2 was a Nature Documentary' episode, you should talk about Spycrabs and Sniperdiles.
And F2PS
At 5:02 You Can See A Rare Red Turtle Building A Sentry, Those Types Of Turtle Are So Rare Because There Are Only 10 Of Them Left, Its Amazing That This Documentary Caught One On Camera
Pretty rare they didn't mention this type of Turtle Engineer
I particularly love how the scientific names for the animals aren't just "pryo getoutofthewateryouactualdumbasseus" and are actually creative names.
Pyroisfirenotwateryoub*tch scientific name
7:25 "🙂"
How you managed to go back in time and recruit a younger David Attenborough to narrate this is a mystery for the ages.
The Spycrab is indeed a rare specimen, we at the Spycrab Protective Organisation have make it our life goal to protect this creatures. Unfortunately some may have escape our enclosure, we ask the public to help us take care of the rare spycrabs if you ever found one.
Seriously, this was extremely well put together. Also amazing David Attenborough impression
"Documentaries in TF2 have always seemed like a strange case to me."

Me: WAIT NONONO NOT THE SPYCRAB PLS NO 😭😭😭😭
It’s honestly amazing how many animal-based playstyles there are.
Turtle engie
Pyroshark
Piranha scout
Spycrab
There are more animals too. Sniperdiles, Bear Heavy
5:23 bro is 2 classes away from being canceled
Good one
"the single brain celled organism named pyro mains"
as a pyro main,
ooga booga me go w+m1 on this ubercharged heavy
I can tell he was a soldier main or a spy main
@@Man_Aslumeno just a normal player
@@Bandog23
No, definitely a soldier main angry that a pyro main killed their medic girlfriend
It is wrong pyro mains dont have brain cells. Everyone knows that
4:40 i just noticed the spy watching in the background 😭
Its a Inspector/observer spy, scientific name; Inpectorious Pyscilis Obserbivify. They are very rare and only adults are spotted, we dont even know what they fully look like upclose.
the fact that the pyroshark scientific name part was a perfect recreation of octo's description gave me whiplash
Masterpiece. I have nothing else to say. Nice job!
Utterly amazing. Never thought I'd see a tf2 machinima with a dedicated costume department lol.
I don't know how long you wrote this entire script, but this was oddly convincing.
8:15 nature is really beautiful
I'm glad I stumbled upon this. I love documentaries!
glad to see the amazon working conditions we were put through during the recording sessions were worth it
Just a spectacular video. It's a spot on parody of a nature documentary. One of my favorite TF2 videos of all time by far. Thank you for crediting the people in the description. I knew videos take a lot of effort, but 2 entire months? That just makes me amazed at content creators so much more. It was definitely worth it, while watching this I was laughing (...more like audibly exhaling, but same thing, right?) and smiling the entire time. I have no doubt that the other 450,000+ people who've watched this also had similar reactions to mine. It's people like you who keep the TF2 community alive, so just thank you. It's appreciated, and you have so much more impact than you know.
i was going through my comments that were "held for review", for some reason your wonderful comment got held for spam!
i appreciate the kind words dude, it really means a lot :) I'm glad I was able to make you laugh and thanks for enjoying the video!
This is Genuinely amazing. Well done! I enjoyed watching the whole thing!
This video absolutely delivers, my heart was left empty after the Bot Wars ended all that time ago.
Thank you, I now have 3 wife’s and I am truly happy with my life.
(insert harem joke here)
That is the only thing i want in my life 😀
I was not prepared for turtle engineer mating
No one ever is..
true fr
3:55 It would have been hilarious if that had hit a cloaked Spy.
Man this was an amazing documentary, I learned so much of the inhabitants of the TF2 lands as for the classes in what they do in the wild to thrive. Thank you!
Note the rare symbiosis between the pyroshark and the turtle engineer.
I dont get it
@@ArthurOrtigosado you get it now?
As piranha scout i can say that i this 50% accurate. I am alone
THIS IS SO GOOD HOLY
i love you, keep going
Excellent work! Love the homage to Bots: A Documentary!
I hope you make more of these! this video was really fun to watch!
this was amazing, we need more

Dang this sure was a nostalgia trip, the general tone of the video feels like something from the early days, I say you outdid Moths here.
Also, the thumbnail is spectacular, makes me wonder why it's creator doesn't have any active pages related to their work.
Please do more of this, it’s a work of art
In 5:08 there is the observer in the top right corner
This skit was probably one of the well made ones I have seen. Well done!
I need more of this
THIS IS AWSOME! I NEED MORE OF THIS!
Great vid can you make a part 2 of this
I really want a version of this where it's overlayed over an actual sea documentary just so I can see how many people are convinced that this is a real documentary.
I would legit watch a series of this. Good show.
This video make my day, keep the good work man
It’s actually a little known fact that the Pyrosharks which frequent 2fort are actually a subspecies of the Pyroshark species. This can be seen by their differing behaviors, as there is a much more common land dwelling Pyroshark which does not possess the aquatic abilities of the 2fort Pyroshark, it instead relies on mutual protection from Turtle Engie nests. It’s a symbiotic relationship which not many other species possess. Unfortunately though, due to 2fort Turtle Engie and Heavy encroachment, the 2fort Pyroshark may go extinct within our lifetime. I’m glad that these rare specimens are actually caught on camera, as they are an important part of the 2fort ecosystem, which must be preserved for future generations.
Honestly knowing that you can make a turtle engineer makes me want to become one. As long as I can find the loadout that it is.
Sadly it’s probably a halloween restricted item
