My favorite kind of video game lore is when a backstory is retroactively added to a series that already exists and they come up with crazy stuff to just fill in the gaps and try to make sense of everything. And TF2 does a pretty great job of that
TF2 is stupidly seamless, it's hard to believe they retroactively fit it in, which is exactly how you go about doing that.
@@fujiwaranovari The best part imo is how they came up with the whole idea of Gray Gravel Co. for Mann versus Machine, and they didn't even have to add anything to the maps to make it make sense, since there was already a Gray Gravel Co. whose logos were all over them.
tbh thats kinda just fnaf lore with the main difference being that tf2 has better writers and doesnt really take itself seriously

One doesn't understand our love for gravel without a few thousand hours in Team Fortress 2.
I've played for over 4000 hours and I still don't like gravel. What am I doing wrong.

This goes hard, also the "If you didn't like it, fuck you" was hilariously unexpected.
Fun Fact: The two factions of TF2, BLU, and RED actually represent more than their colours. BLU means Builders League United and RED means Reliable Excavation Demolition. One is a construction company, and the other one is a demolition company which indicates that BLU and RED are opposing factions.
Also, it explains why the BLU team, the construction company, pushes the bomb cart rather than RED, the demolition compnay which is specialised for destruction at Payload mode. It is because BLU needs to destroy old buildings so they can build a new one, and the RED needs to protect old buildings so they can demolise it.
I just learnt this and it made everything so much funnier because RED team could just demolish the old buildings themselves and let the BLU team build new ones afterwards, with both of them getting their cut of money
I do not believe that BLU and RED will help each other. Their chairmen, Blutarch and Redmond, despise partnership and sharing. For example, the Gravel war, which lasted more than a century, was broken out because these two brain defects did not want to share their land.
I wonder how YLW and GRN would've been if there was a Grenn Mann and a Yelo Mann

The gravel war has been going on so long that the canon fights now are just your average doublecross casual match and you can't tell me otherwise.

Trust Valve to create some of the most incredible game lore ever only to just give up 2 feet before the finish line
Cause they've got steam. And steam is infinite money cheat code, so they don't actually need to do anything else now. They will remember about their games when they need to. Just make valve go nearly bankrupt to make this happen, that's pretty easy

At this point I’m convinced that Valve does cliffhangers on purpose just to keep us loyal.
There is no Half-Life 3, no L4D3, no Portal 3, and no TF2 Comic no.7
They only exist when Valve needs to extend their infinite money machine.

Portal ended on a good note though, and we got Alyx to retcon episode 2. I don't know much about l4d but I thought that ended well as well did it not? It still sucks that we never got the final comic for tf2.

@@YellowDice The l4d1 cast got their definitive ending from the comic. The l4d2 cast are currently in the hands of CEDA, but from what happens in the l4d1 ending comic we know that's not gonna end well, so their stories still have room for more.
Although, if they made a L4D3, it'd probably focus on a new group of 4 anyway. We'd need another comic to actually wrap things up for the l4d2 cast.

1:00 it's worth mentioning they wanted to do comics before the game released, even commissioning a couple of pages from an illustrator. There was always supposed to be some story to the game

the story of the badlands is that blutarch and redmond convinced him to buy a land which they believed had gravel,when they arrived it didnt have any gravel and was jsut a desert so out of spite Zephaniah left the land they made him to buy to blutarch and redmond knowing they will fight for it till the end
TLDW; it's because it's an endless, pointless stalemate between shell companies owned by twin idiot brothers because it makes Mann Co. lots of money to keep them equal.
In MvM it's because the robots are just incompetent enough that it ground to a stalemate again. Everything beyond that is in the unfinished comic series.

The Miss Pauling cat looks genuinely adorable, fantastic work.
In the map swiftwater the "plot" is that red is poisoning blu's water that blu is trying to bottle and sell so the obvious way for blu to stop them is by throwing a bomb equivalent to a nuke and that is why your trying to push the payload into reds building.
