    Liked the bit when they were all breathing in the plaster dust when mixing and the sub title came saying always wear a mask 😆 good old tradesman

    Clearly, a very talented and educated plasterer. The UK needs more men like this. Experienced, knowledgable, and very well skilled. Not some "Joe" who's done a two week course, who make out they're a master tradesman!
    I'm a time served joiner, and I've worked with countless plasterers down the years. A good plasterer like this man, doesn't have plaster on his head, up his arms, or ALL over the floor!
    Great video! This man is a credit to his trade.

    My problem as a newbie is fannying about with it too much on the first coat. Need to learn just to batter it on and worry about getting it flat later. Halfway through my gear starts to go off in the bucket.

    Bricklaying is the hardest trade to learn. I’m not talking about Romanian line monkeys but proper trowels. Real trowels who can build a house off plans that takes years of dedication. It pains me too see the shit going around working for agencies calling themselves tradesmen. I’m a foreman for a Brickie subcontractor and the bullshitters don’t last long. Would love to be able to plaster though !!!

    Using the same plaster for the 2nd coat isn’t recommended. You should always mix fresh plaster for the 2nd coat after the first coat as dried a bit. You can still get a good finish but I wouldn’t be teaching this method to trainees.

    • @Ducktard69
      @Ducktard69 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      He says at the 43 minute mark, that if he was on the job he would be laying on 2 walls at the same time from the first mix, then mixing a fresh mix for second coat. What he is doing here is good enough for demonstration purposes.

      Naa, the second coat flattens in the first, if the first is too firmed up then the second won’t do it’s job properly. I use the same mix for both coats all the time, worst case water what’s left down and add some powder if you need more

      That only works in the real world but when you've got a huge ceiling to skim you always get all the middle on then do edges as it's easier that way and u got more time on edges while you flatten middle 👍👍👍

    When we hardwall plaster set here in Australia-(Lime/plaster) mix-we actually do the first coat very tight -a scrap virtually and that removes any chance of air being trapped then we pass over with our 2mm coat and flatten and trowel to glass like finish-can set up in 10-20 mins.

    • @lea-rw5cb

      Most people under the impression that PVA has to be tacky and that's what sticks plaster,all false the PVA is there to act as a barrier and even out suction so doesn't matter if it's dry or tacky before you apply plaster 👍👍👍

    • @lea-rw5cb
      @lea-rw5cb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevekneller7864 like glass over skimming but different on let's say dry wall or bonding, you have around 50 metres to skim the pva isn't gonna stay tacky that long anyway depending on the humidity, 20yrs + experience would say don't over skim in the first place just laziness and corner cutting if your gonna do a proper job then do a proper job,any over skim requests i had I've alway overboard and skimmed or for solid walls knocked back to brickwork,most reasons it pops off is because walls contaminated before hand or backing isn't sound enough to receive another coat or environmental factors such as dust 👍👍
