    This was a gold mine for me! You helped me sort out my 'puttering' and showed me how to replace the coil! I did it today, and the smile on my face from doing it myself was priceless! I know, its a little thing, but when you can do it yourself and no rely on someone else, that truly is something else. Thank you for this :)

    Really helpful video. Diagnosed a replacement coil. On opening up, discovered that actually two had failed. Ordered parts and replaced, thanks to easy to follow, clearly explained instructions. Started her up and unfortunately, a third coil has now gone. Ordered two more and will replace them all now, just to be sure. Now I know what I'm doing, thanks to the video.

    Brilliant video, fixed my 2002 1.6. I suspected a faulty coil pack, had a couple go a few years back. Your tips are great, like saying the plastic cover needs a good pull to get it off. Sadly my problem was a little bit more work than just changing a coil. Turns out one injector is either clogged or broken. So that's another thing people should be on the lookout for in case this procedure leads nowhere, the symptoms are very similar.

    Good video thank you. With your help I have been able to replace the ignition coils on my 2003 1.4 match (which are the individual ones shown in the video - not the "pack" others describe). I particularly liked your explanation of how to release the clips that attach the coil to the loom. This was tricky and I was nervous of forcing and breaking something. Checking the video a couple of times gave me courage and I managed to get them all off and replaced without damaging anything. Three of the four coils were OE and quite literally falling in half. I am amazed the car ran as well as it did but I have managed to get get rid of the misfire, reset the engine management warning light and am sure I will see a significant improvement in economy, cold starting and maybe performance. If you have tips on how to clear a blocked rear washer or change the drivers door central locking management unit I promise to commnet! Thanks again and best of luck to you. :-)

    Really helpful insight, question for you @aaanton11, mine from time to time throws a P0304 which according to my basic OBD scanner is relating to cylinder 4, I had my Golf services last month and it still happens, now from memory I think the coils were changes around 8 years ago, would this cause the car to throw this error? I'm trying to track down one-by-one on what is the reason.
    When cold she's fine but once she's warm she idles a bit rough like yours did at the beginning of the vid, so in a way I'm hoping that it could be a coil that is deciding that sometimes it doesn't want to work. Hopefully, you can help, thanks!

    • @aaanton11

    Hi, I have the same engine.. Didn't start this morning and checked that there is sound coming from the gasoline pump, so that might be working still, the timing belt is still there at least it's not broken.. there was nothing in the intake that would block airflow. I was wondering how much should the gas flap or how do you call it react to the gas pedal? It moved only a few millimeters when trying to start and pressed the gas pedal to the floor

    • @aaanton11
      @aaanton11  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it will only start to move correctly when the engine is running, I would remove the spark plugs and see if they are wet with fuel, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Mine is shaking when the engine runs idle...misfire on second cylinder...I belive the car computer is cutting the fuel on second cylinder, if I remove the connector of the 2 injector there very little difference than the others...and I replace all the injectors with new ones...

    My polo has this, misfire on cylinder 2, but it only does it on occasions then is fine, usually goes away after a while, would it still be a coil? I will swap coilpack 2 and 3 over and wait to get another code and see if its moved cylinders, or would I be wasting my time because its something different? Don't believe it's compression as no oil leaks around the head and no blue smoke upon revving, any suggestions?

    • @aaanton11
      @aaanton11  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The oil pipe Just twists off as if you were in doing a normal cap from the top
      most of the time the cylinders are numbered from timing cover being 1 to gearbox end being 4
      You cannot electrocute yourself on the system so hopefully you can fix it, there is a possibility that you have oil burning issues causing the misfire so I would always recommend removing the spark plugs and testing to see what condition they are In Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

    Man, I should have watched this video before I fixed mine. I swapped the coil one at a time, drove a few streets down and did the next one. I started from cylinder 1, sods law the bad coil was in cylinder 4.
    Question: is it normal for the same coil to go bad? My golf has 173k miles on it, 2 coils are original ones from the car. Cylinder 4 coil has gone bad twice since I owned the car.

    • @aaanton11
      @aaanton11  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Original coils (branded) coils are much better quality than after market ones, poor quality coils can last less than 12months, also worth replacing the spark plug, if it has high resistance this also can limit the life of the new coil, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

      Most likely to have low compression on that cylinder, that would be the next move, a compression test👍🏻👍🏻🛠

    Ive got a 2002 VW GOLF 2.0L GL, Gas Automatic ... replaced plugs, wires, ignition coil pack, alternator, fuel pump, crank position sensor, fuel regulator valve and no vacuum leak.
    Veh. shakes/judders violently when turning to the left, being stationary.

      Sounds like you have a power steering pump issue, does the car drive ok in a straight line?

    Hello. Thanks. I have old one
    2002. 1.4 petrol. Just changed all spark plugs. Engine is still running badly. Tried what you said. 3 cylinder remove. It stopped running. I never can hear click 😅 One it is fine. I give it may be that one...

      If it doesn't click chances are the coil pack is duff!!, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

      @@aaanton11 Tried changing places of two coils. Nah, still cylinder 4 🤣 So my guess is cables. Now it is at mechanic place. I think this is my limit .

    I have a 2.0 non turbo. Could this be the same issue? It also is drinking coolant and water is on oil cap.

    • @aaanton11
      @aaanton11  ปีที่แล้ว

      The coolant issue sounds like it needs attention, but yes it is possible the coils might be faulty, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
