Not including how much money you spend to purchase all the necessary tools/products to perform that level of work.
In this video, I break things down to very simple methods to get your car looking much better without spending an enormous amount of time on it.

Just finished doing the hood, trunk and roof of my vehicle. Used one step HD Speed orange pad and a max shine tool. Had a blast and the results are totally unreal. All the scratches are gone, GONE! Been working up the courage to do this since I just bought this car used looks like brand new. Now a wax or a sealer was also thinking ceramic spray. Having a ball doing this . I feel like a professional. LOL just make sure to clean the pad off once in awhile you will get splashed....lol Thanks this would be fun as a business.

Just wanted to say, I followed this concept this past weekend. Although I was doing an actual one step paint correction, I didn't spend the first two hours washing the vehicle. I typically will do sections of a vehicle at a time, instead of an entire one. I just don't have the time it takes to paint correct an entire vehicle in one sitting! So, I simply washed with a mf towel with a bucket of water and ONR. I also did not do a decontamination wash, but did use an iron removal. In total, I took maybe 10 minutes to wash the vehicle, versus my normal 1.5 hours. Also, I ended up using one pad for the entire side of the vehicle. I simply washed it with a hose, and then put it on the DA polisher, turned it on, and almost instantly dried. Got to say, it came out absolutely amazing. With the wash, I took the advice that I am not going to make the paint that much worse by washing it in this method. Especially if the vehicle already has the swirl marks. I spent the time doing the paint correction, which is the part I truly enjoy the most. Thank you for your practical approach. It makes sense, and it works!

How much should I charge to add a paint enhancement to a car like that? If you don’t mind me asking, if you were to do that entire car what would you charge ballpark?
Like others have said, you speak to the real world where the majority of detailing needs involve daily drivers and customers looking to spend maybe $150 - $250 to make their cars look better than they have since they were a few months old. Most of the other TH-cam detailers seem to have an elite clientele and promote a different product in every video. If you're starting out the main thing is to get jobs, as you always say.. Using your all-in-one paint enhancement method seems to meet the need for the daily driver market. Maybe add a spray on, wipe off wax like Turtle Wax Ice or Meguiars and you'll have a happy customer. Oscar, I like that you started with a few brushes and apc and detailed several cars before you started adding equipment. I'm guessing you had a vac like the Rigid early on, right? The best "product" is the detailer himself!

Everyone needs to be careful about buying detailing products. if your young and just graduated high school or whatever, it's best to look into high volume detailing dealership, so that way you have an idea what it's like. Use the dealership to figure out what you need, plan and save up to invest in your future auto detailing business. At the end of the day, If you don't like this back breaking industry, quit dreaming and quit the job. And trust me detailing at the dealership is the last place you want as your career. No matter how much effort you put in it. The manager won't give you $25/ hour or high paying salary. It's the lowest position at any dealership. Theyll pay you minimum plus some bonuses or no bonus at all. This is my advice for auto detailing. Think of it as getting paid to learn the industry if you taking time off from college.
Right on brother I'm in agreement don't get caught up in over doing it, I just started using a DA Polisher and I'm learning on friends car's by giving a free wash and polish not going for perfection just looking for vast improvement.
You now have them as non-paying customers for life.
Do you by any chance use any lacker for anything ? I used to detail but I would use lacker for the vehicle before I would polish it , it will take dirt and tart off
So after you wash the vehicle and then clay bar it. You start buffing/polishing. Is that the final step on an exterior job? It seems after I wash and clay bar Ian’s then I start to polish, my compound/polish flings everywhere and I almost feel the need to have to re wash the vehicle! Please help.
I've been having a hard time getting the polisher too keep rotating the pad. Very picky on how to hold it.
Paint correction is the easiest part in detailing for me. Interiors are a nightmare 😣😣...

@@paulmatyskiel9474 hell yeah alot of people want interiors done but you can't charge top dollar like a correction. So it's difficult I cant say oh its gonna be 900$ to clean your interior lmao you won't have no work 😂😂
aha- as fun as paint correction is, I would much prefer to be fully booked out with interior work. Paint correction is a rabbit whole you can get stuck in and limit your growth/potential/earnings.
I agree with doing interiors. I get a lot of Interiors here on Boston ma. Due to the salt and sand to melt the ice. People don't really care about the exterior. But some nice toys owners do. Thing is I dont do many nice toys.just regular people cars.

Thanks for the video it really helped me alot. What dilution ratio did you use for ONR in your 32 oz bottle? I have a 2016 Chevy Cruze with very light scratches and some swirl marks. I just purchased a Milwaukee M18 Rotary Polisher and I'm a noobie to polishing. I'm looking to wash and polish my car this weekend. Thanks for any info.
To use ONR as a clay lube, put 1/2 ounce ONR into 31.5 ounces of water to make a full 32 oz bottle. To use it as a rinseless wash use 1/2oz. per gal.
Cool vid...I hate interiors as well but if I have to I'll do them.. now when it comes to people that rather do interiors instead of paint correction / enhancements is because they suck at it! But to each is own...I love doing paint corrections rather than enhancements because I'm a perfectionist and bot getting all the swirls drives me crazy! Lol but enhancements are a good way to profit and take less time!

I like this video dude. You really keep it real and honest. I have a question tho. I focus more and the Interior but I am going for a paint correction and ceramic coating training. Do you think that's necessary? It's kind of pricey lol
haha, it will defiantely help you. If you're just getting started and have very little customers, I would wait. If you primarily want to do interior, and you have very few customers, then paying and going to get trained for paint correction and coating isn't really going to help you out much

I have the exact same jetta & I just ordered the exact same da polisher, after watching this video, I'm ready. Lol. So after I do a 1 step polish, do I follow it up with sealant then wax?
The polish I'm using is an all-in-one (AIO). It lighly polishes while leaving a layer of protection behind
Smart, using a one step polish wax is best for the owner of this car. Try making the AG roadshow class in Austin or we might have one in Houston later this year.
Love this video as I am getting myself together so I can start detailing doing the research and everything. I haven't fully started because of the typical fear of messing up or not doing a good enough job when it comes to a customer's car. Even though I feel like I have the skills and tools needed to do any job there is always that what if in the back of my head. Though I know in another video where you said it isn't required a auto detailing school opened up in my area finally last weekend and I am looking to do that first if for no other reason for the confidence.

On the back door panel that u polished since it still has swirls what steps would u take next to get rid of them

That car is in serious need of a 2-3 stage correction. But honestly with how banged up the panels are, they'd be better off getting body work done and repaint it. Considering most people wont go to that extreme, a single stage polish can at least make the paint look richer than it was.

How do you divide up the work on each panel? Is each vehicle different?
Door panels will be 3 to 4 sections. Front fenders will be 2 to 3. Rear quarter panels will be 2 to 3. Roof/hood will be 4 to 8.

If you want to use an analogy, it's like battery charging. You will take 20 minutes for charging 80% and 3 hours for the 20% left. For polishing it's the same.
On forums, they talk like surgeon.They act as if the car was a person in a coma and needed intensive care. They spend two or three days to perfectly polish a daily driver. After that they will go to work with the car, go to supermarket, downtown...and the car will be scratched in the first minutes.
If they work for a customer, the first wash will scratch the car everywhere. They will bring the car to the car wash.
Now I'im polishing my car once a year. Wash, clay and one step polishing with 3in1 polish from Chemical Guy. With a microscope, I can see micro-scratch. I don't care. I don't use microscope like stupid guys on the forums.
You're fast, efficient, the job is done and 99% of the owner won't see the difference between a perfect polished car and a standard polished car. You're right. Thanks for this video.

I have 2 questions. 1). How long does it typically take for the seats to dry after you use the extractor? And 2). For liability reasons, do you have the customer sign a contract of some sort so that you would not be responsible for any damages if there were any?
1) if it's relatively warm outside, within 2 hours they'll be 90% dry. 2) No, not at all

@@atsukinumata249 you could always get insurance for that. Many LLCs and companies have liability insurance just in case something happens. Usually pretty cheap.

If you are going to polish your car, why does it need 4 other cleansing steps AFTER the wash?
The polish does all the work.
Mostly because they want to sell the other products as well. They get paid for using the product in the video.
All my co workers always hate it when they have to do a full paint correction on black cars as those tend to be the most difficult. Any tips when dealing with black colored vehicles?
Work with people who enjoy their jobs lol black paint is the most pain in the ass but the reward is the greatest.

@@rinrin2195 hes doing what I call brightening up the paint. Hes not focused on removing the swirls just a quick polish. And hes using a DA polisher so yes it's safe to go that fast

What your doing is what's called paint enhancement, not paint correction, I offer paint corrections to my customers, they usually don't want paint correction, except my higher end customers, great vid brother

@@rinrin2195 a da is slightly more advanced than a orbital but still easy. Using foam pads and keeping them flat on the surface will prevent any damage. Charging ppl for "buffing" is where the money is and the increase in your potential.
In the wide shot, if you look at the bottom of the doors you can see the difference more. Great explanation of your work... can you show how you would polish a silver car? Honestly mine looks the same before and after 🤦🏻♀️ lol

Size of the vehicle, and condition of the actual paint. The bigger the vehicle more polishing and buffing you have to do. Same with condition of the paint. Condition of paint also determines how much time you will be spending on polishing and correcting. Each panel.

IMO clay mitt is much more convenient to use and keep clean, but need to be careful if using it in full sun or on really hot paint since the "clay" material can transfer to the paint if there's not sufficient lubrication and/or too much heat on the panel.
Overall, I'd say clay mitt. They both have their parts. 95% of the time I use a clay mitt.

ONR is extremely cheap. I would suggest getting a gallon. You can use APC in a pinch but I wouldn't use that as your main pad cleaner.

Yeison Galeano that’s awesome! Make sure you check out the dilution ratios. It seriously lasts forever because you barely need any when washing or claying. It makes a great clay bar lubricant as well.
If I am going to charge for my service I would HAVE to do a thorough job not a superficial and fast one. The job is not to make look just better but the best that it could be.

Who takes 12 hours polishing a vehicle? Unless you meant paint correction. So everyone can understand polishing isn’t gonna take away any scratches it’ll fill it in but once IPA wipe you might see the scratches again

Just use griots fast correcting cream. Less passes, less time and better results
Carlos Rivera on hard paint sure, but on the softer stuff you are left with a haze that should be followed up with perfecting cream, I usually go for the correcting cream instead if I’m going for a one step, not as aggressive as fast correcting cream, but still works really well.

Ding ding ding!!!!! Ihave been getting that question. What is the difference between hard pant and soft pant. I have no clue why. So what is the difference. How do you tell. As a safe choice what polish would you use on a soft pant?
Patrick Guida people call it soft paint or hard paint, but what they’re really talking about is the hardness of the clear, because after all that is what you’re leveling off, and not the actual paint, of course on single stage paint it is the paint that you are removing, and exposing a fresh surface. Generally, when clear is soft, it corrects easier with a compound or polish, but because it corrects easier, it also swirls, and scratches easier, along with hazing easier as well, that’s why you need to follow up with a polish after compounding soft clear. Harder clear is more difficult to correct, usually you need a more aggressive combo to level it off, but it might not require an extra polishing step since harder clear doesn’t haze as easily, harder clear seems to finish better as well, polishes out really nice, the softer clear sometimes requires a lot of polishing in order to get rid of the haze, and have it pop really good.

My view aswell is that when washing a trashed car I don't worry about the 2 bucket wash method even
