So this is my confusion. I followed your instructions along with your kit and made the adjustments to have the measuring tool to just touch the string at the 6th fret. But I still feel the action is too high when playing. At this point wouldn’t I need to then look lowering the saddle?
Thanks for this! Taylor themselves specifies relief at the 14th fret to be roughly .010. Would you think that's equivalent to your .008 at the 12th fret? (That specification comes from a Taylor Tech Sheet that's no longer available.)
I think you mean measured relief with the guitar fretted at the1st and 14th rather than the 1st and 12th. Probably not much difference between fretting at those two different frets, so Taylor specs a slightly higher relief setting than I would use, but .010" is in the ballpark. Most players wouldn't notice a difference, but I find slightly less relief gives a more even playability, and it's all about the details.
Too much detail. A bit hard to follow the main point. If neck is too flat, you can slightly turn hex truss rod clockwise. Very small increments only and let sit. Recheck. Do not force if too tight.
