Hey gang. I wanted to clarify a few things. They have the ability to import OBS scene files. Apparently those are built with json, so they can work with them.
Thanks for the super honest review, I feel so many people that review mocap solutions don’t talk about everything you can expect from the mocap. Really great review Woody
ngl, when I tried it out at twitchcon I (as a non-unreal user) found the user interface really hard to parse, which seems like a major issue if your target audience is people who arent tech saavy enough to use more custom solutions
I was so excited when I saw the Obskur suit cause it's exactly what I want in mocap, but the fact that they lock you into their software drives me crazy... Pretty sure they are trying to make it that way so they can control the monetization, or build a subscription model into their software. I've kind of given up on it because I do not like the idea of being locked into one system.
The mocap and character creation look promising, though I hope they don't completely lock it to their framework. Maybe an alternative licensing model for non-streamers (like video creators)? It'll be interesting to see where Obskur ends up on the DIY to off-the-shelf scale.
Hey Woody, great review, love the transparency. Will you make an update video regarding Movella killing Obskur, sharing your thoughts on what you think went wrong?
I might address it somehow. But I’m not sure there’s enough demand for a whole video? Also what is there to say, the parent company got a new CEO and they decided to go a different direction. I hope there weren’t too many people that bought suits and were using them regularly.
@@WoodyDevs I agree with you, however I think there’s an opportunity to educate people to be careful when purchasing expensive tech in this field. There are so many channels that ride the wave of enthusiasm and hype about new tech, they forgets most people can’t afford them but still make the purchase because somehow they are sold a dream. Corporations like Movella leverage on that and as you can see, they don’t really think twice when it’s time to pull the rug on their customers to contain losses. It’s not your case, i mean this, but i believe it would be beneficial to your community and this industry in general if you were to also talk about the dark side of these new and exciting techs. Obviously this is just my point of view. In any case, keep up the good work!
Awesome honest review! It appreciated! But im very concerned for all these companys as i keep seeing a trend of let take the money and give you at best a beta version of it, or that there is so much software that i have to pay for like 5 different programs just to do these things. It seems like alot of these companys are forgetting who they market to. It should be either professional or indie. Not that ill get my product to somone already successful using our product. It take time for user bases to get to that point. Look at blender and where that came and now if getting companys to change but is it already too late as alot of them dont seem to change intill there a issue.... idk i might be talking a bit random who knows.
What about hand tracking? Does the tremor become uncomfortable enough to require recalibration over time? If the hand tracking is good, I think it's worth it just for that alone.

Great review!!! ❤
I guess competition in the market is good, but damn :/ 2k is a lot for this rough setup
Great review!
5:18 Very interesting, half of the price of Rokoko Smart suit II.
They're the same price

It’s probably worth noting that stretch sense has a lot of different integrations. Obskur is just one version of their gloves.
God this technology is so cool.
15:25 hahahahha I feel seen
Sam take a shower.
hahahahahahaha @@WoodyDevs
Met the Obskur team very briefly at TwitchCon, really great people
They are fantastic.
